Cinéma 2024

Completely different approach from many who had a former version. After reading the comments I am super intrigued about the discontinued formula. Still, I came across the 2024 version and I got obsessed. As soon as I came home from the store I couldn't stop smelling my hand and resist from ordering it. I just love it because it feels classy, warm, and very elegant. I am not a huge fan of vanilla and that's the reason probably why I love the current version, and super curious how was it before.

Memories to remember and a story to tell.. I should say YSL created a life time , timeless perfume when it launched Cinema long back. coming from a person who does not believe in gender restricted perfumes..this new release if definitely a coronation of success and it remains luxurious, rich and breath taking... nothing more to add. overall 10/10

when i saw Cinema at the duty free, i just bought the bottle even without trying , thinking it's still the same elegant, feminine, rich perfume i used to have. unfortunately i was so disappointed after first spray when i noticed they changed the formula and you're not feeling the 'lady' note in the perfume any more. why to change the formula , or even name the same when you create something different, unbelievable..

It's okay. White-yellow designer floral, inoffensive and forgettable. It's not terrible, but it's also not wow. I wouldn't buy it as it's not interesting enough for me, but I wouldn't feel offended if someone next to me would wear it. It's a nice, okay, good enough perfume.

So very disappointed....drugstore fruity sweet fragrance. So unimpressed and sad. Didn't realize I was getting this version and it is such a let down. Another one bites the dust. Guess it will go to my perfume disappointment graveyard.

What a disappointment. Has nothing to do with the captivating original Cinema of 2004. Adored dignature sent, so captivating and addictive. Why would you "bring back" an iconic perfume and have it downgraded to average. Could not believe my eyes when I saw it on the shelf at the duty frees in Cyprus, I was contemplating to buy 2, as they came in 80ml bottles only, no sample to spray was available. Exercising delayed gratification, I resisted opening it immediately. I wanted to get home, have a shower and lotion on and have it applied properly..it was almost emotional..only to be completely disappointed. I was trying to convince myself that it would open up, develop.. but nope, it just stayed sweet n simple..like a drop of aromatic syrup or honey that has dripped on your clothes, that drop never tastes good, does it now? To the guest bathroom shelf then it is.

Cinema used to be my all time favourite due to its rich creamy unique scent that lingered all day. The 2024 reformulation is a joke. I spray it on and it is gone in 10 mins. I am so disappointed in this scent house. What have they done?

@mohk - I totally agree! Margiela brought back dancing on the moon and announced it yesterday. But here's the thing - I think from a manufacturing standpoint, its expensive to bring these individualistic bottles back. Standardising bottles is far more cost effective nowadays than having individualistic bottles - which is kind of understandable from all brands POV. Guerlain did it too. But I am honestly not going to be mad as long as the juice is great. The Amaryllis note is what MADE Cinema for me. And I can see that it's no where in this structure. Which SUCKS.

Hmmm... that’s suspicious. Apart from the fact that notes are much different than the original (Which I adore), the thing is that 2024 version is not mentioned anywhere on official YSL website. I contacted their customer service to ask whether the rumors of new version are true and asked for updated notes and the answer was... “I’m not aware of any comeback of YSL Cinema in the nearest future”. I asked through chat on their side, maybe it was a bot, hard to say Still, it seems that our hope for revival of this beauty is to be destroyed sooner or later... :(

So disappointed! I saw a bottle of this at the airport and I actually squealed with delight as I’d been curious about Cinéma for some time. Doused myself in it and went on my way. Genuinely after 20 minutes I couldn’t smell a thing. Longevity is weak, the scent itself was weak from the beginning. It’s nice (for the short time it lasts) but I was expecting something much more special and captivating. Will have to get my hands on an original formulation bottle I suppose ....

I managed to compare both versions on each hand, the 2024 is just a blurred image reflected on a foggy mirror of 2004 OG cinema , you can detect the DNA but its very light and somewhat distorted , it captured the bite but not the after-taste ! The OG is definitely deeper and more complex and has a signature "personality" the new one is just "inoffensively there" .. Im searching for an old bottle , dont wanna spend on the new one although i found it discounted !

This wasn’t fully discontinued in the U.K., I bought a bottle last year but it was harder to find. Staple winter work scent for me, a polite orange vanilla which is not gourmand. The new bottle is pretty bad so I might try a get my hand on one of the older designs before they are replaced. The only benefit to the new bottle is the reassurance that they plan on keeping it around.

I almost had a tear in my eye :') This scent is what my circle recognized me with in university days , and still remember me with 12 years later .. its signature scent worthy i'll come back to edit once i test and ofcourse i hope they didnt mess it up Now im waiting for the babydoll and elle re-releases

Aww, YSL did a Guerlain! Guess I should be grateful it is not discontinued! Might look for a back up of the original bottle. Bottle changes scare me!

Nothing like the OG Cinema! And how criminal to add sandalwood in the base notes...it's giving body odor in the drydown. :(((
