Kouros Cologne Sport

I had my eye on this one for a while since it's been in the range of $100 and finally I got it at almost half of that, and WOW I love it!. Actually I knew how it did smell because I got the aftershave balm a while ago thinking that I was going to get the cologne much easier, but well it is within my love fave's now, and I wore during a night out last Saturday and I could not resist to wear it today again. I got one compliment only today, but I don't care because I really like to smell it on me while I move around it just lingers nicely, It has a good longevity even after the next day (I could still smell it on Sunday after my night out. I would say it keeps the core of the initial Kouros, pretty much, but in a more subtle version, when you are a Kouros fan but you also want to enjoy it in a warmer weather without worries about not being pleasing to all. I am reviewing this one and I just noticed my new buddy "Oldspice" is just down below :-) Nice review there as well, lets keep it on.

A true underrated gem. This is basically Kouros but remove 90% of that “dirty” civet note and add some clean, natural white florals. Great citrus in the opening too, not overpowering. A much lighter easier to wear Kouros, which is still very distinctively Kouros and masculine, but tuned for the heat and summer. Not a modern “Sport” scent , even though it is called Cologne sport. Surprisingly good longevity especially on clothes. It’s an Eau de Cologne but it does last longer than many modern EdTs. If you like Kouros and want something for the summer that has that same feel to it this is it. If you do not like Kouros this one might be worth a try as it’s a lighter and probably not as controversial scent. It is still very unique though. Sadly long discontinued. Not to be confused with the Kouros Cologne Sport Eau d’été which is extremely similar looking but in a blue shade.

This is delicious! A very rare example of modified perfume which doesn't lack any uniqueness of the original creation. I always loved Kouros, but it was too strong and haunting for me. I desperately wanted something with the character of Kouros but not so dense, and when Cologne Sport appeared, I was finally happy. I believe, for many Kouros "distant admirers" this could be the perfect way of wearing this wonderful fragrance. It's like drinking great old cognac on the rocks with indian tonic - you still have the full taste and aroma of the spirit but you can enjoy it more easily, in a relaxed and comfortable way. It's quite sad that such a beautiful truly timeless creation is now discontinued, as long as it stays so dramatically ahead of modern Kouros versions developed by L'Oreal without any respect to the masterpiece of men's perfumery signed by YSL himself.

im a guy who wears mostly feminine scents, but when i want to smell manly and hot, i go for this over anything else i have . i still cant find something modern that even harkens to this . it reminds me heavy of the phat farm cologne (thats still not uploaded to fragrantica) . the atomizer is ridiculous . best for the gym/sporting, or going outdoors all day . or even if you want to impress someone important . it wears for hours on skin, heavy jasmine floral but unmistakably masculine with the heavy cedar, plus fleeting citron and undercover civet after a few wears i notice it does have that skin musky drydown its sporty in a 2003 way, very captain of the football team vibe . more aquatic than “fresh” cute find, can they make perfumes like this again? words that came to mind : water, floral, crisp, sexy, animalic, fresh spicy

★★★★1⁄2 If Kouros Fraicheur is the best retro flanker of Kouros (I prefer it over Eau De Sport) then this is the best modern flanker by far! This is very unique, sporty and alluring at the same time. There is one fragrance that is very similar though, and I am seriously suggesting you to try both on each hand and compare... *drum roll* The original formula of Tommy Hilfiger's Freedom for men is a brighter version of Kouros Cologne Sport! I love both, but this has more depth and the overall character is more elegant. Excellent modern sport fragrance, deserves a place in the modern sport fragrance hall of fame along with Dior Homme Sport (2008), Encre Noire Sport etc. Great lasting power and proper sillage for a sport fragrance. A solid compliment getter as well!

Very similar to the original Kouros, but not nearly as in your face. Although I haven't worn it for many years, I was never really comfortable wearing the original because it always provoked a "love it or hate it" type of response. This version however has a gentler, softer & much fresher feeling to it, so I wouldn't feel nearly as wary leaving the house with this on. Regardless of its gentler approach, this is still quite an intoxicating & daring fragrance. If you like the original Kouros but find it just too strong, I would heartily recommend this as a safer alternative.

clean. but not like the current cleans made almost entirely of iris or neroli. this reminds me of my father's classic green bar of soap. a light background of kouros. but this is really green palmolive soap. opens slightly citrusy. but then the citrus vanishes immediately. what a nice scent !! I don't know what cyclamen smells like. but jasmine certainly does and is present. to my nose no spice or cedar wood. 9/10 excellent performance.

Unlike Tattoo edition and some of the other flankers that put a slightly different spin on Kouros, this is more like Kouros Lite. I really enjoy this though. It's easier to wear than original Kouros but if you're not a fan of the original you're probably not going to like this one either. It's marked as an EDC but I get 8-12 hours longevity easily with two sprays.

So far , the best flanker of Kouros . Still haven’t tried Fraicheur since it’s really expensive even for a little 10ml on eBay . I get a soapy vibe from this, like an orange Dial liquid soap but refined . Wish it had a better performance! (About 3-5h) It’s a gorgeous toned down fresh version. Seems I’m getting this one next time !

The linear cyclamen cyclamen which gives it its singularity. A masculine floral to boot. For a cologne, this lasts a long time (7-10 hours), and projects fairly well as long as you're moving around. It possesses an animalic/musky quality but still manages to maintain an overall fresh appeal. Always on the look out for this one.

WOW..........This scent is so fresh and really distinctive, it stands out as a complex composition and over time shows how multi layered it is and not just a big blast of alcohol. It starts off with that classic 'spicy' gentleman aroma in the background and then over time there are the introduction of bright florals and soft citrus notes making themselves known and raising it into something quite unique...... For a scent that's almost 20 years old, you wouldn't be surprised if this had PDM or Creed written on the bottle......it's a 'gentleman's' scent that just radiates a really nice sweet, grown up smell with a warm spice (almost amber) base I gave it a quick spry on my wrist, just to test it and to see if it was still OK......The production date is 2013!!!! I left it a second and gave it a quick sniff.......WOW!!!!.....it does make itself known Then, over the next 5 mins, this fragrance grew and grew until it was all I could smell...and what a lovely smell... I even got a compliment from the wife.....and that never happens How can this can scent (That's19 years old) last a full 8 hours, with a sillage that can be smelt from 4 feet away and still smell distinctive, clean and strong.....when my bottle of Dior Intense lasts 30 minutes. I see bottles selling on eBay.......but honestly, what a sent.....Someone need to get this one copied ASAP.

I don’t know how, but you can feel Kouros behind the soapiness — it’s a soapy Kouros. Meaning there’s that sporty vibe, but shown through the lens of Kouros’ DNA, and since Kouros has a DNA so unusually bold and emblematic of masculinity, the whole thing comes across as remarkably successful and almost archetypal for masculine perfumery. Sang Bleu was probably sweeter, even more floral — like a juice. It’s possible the modern Kouros is “more masculine” than Sang, but Sang was more nuanced and above all less synthetic — truly non-synthetic — and in that regard it felt simply like the better fragrance. The modern Kouros has, beneath the surface, that off-putting synthetic accord that gets in the way, especially when you keep in mind the context of scents like the original Kouros or Sang Bleu. Sport Cologne, in this respect, is a good solution because, although it has plenty of florals, it maintains a certain tougher, masculine guard that doesn’t feel synthetic. Someone once asked me whether Sang Bleu resembled Eau de Sport — I can now answer that if Eau de Sport resembles Cologne Sport enough, then yes, it does.

Finally purcashed Cologne Sport at low price :) Wow! This is GOOOOD! I mean, first the transparent bottle, it's looks so simple yet elegant and well designed. And then the juice. It's not agressive like the original Kouros but they share the same spirit, ultra-masculine and animalistic. The best part is that even it's a "cologne" the longevity is at least like that of an edt! It lingers all day and doesn't hurt any nose. Well, I'm not sure about the sportiness of the fragrance but at applying it feels minty so it's also refreshing. Absolutely recommened! Much better than Chanel Allure Cologne Sport.

It's exactly what I hoped it would be... a less strong KOUROS to wear around those who find the original far too bold. I rate the original KOUROS as one of my favorites, so this is like having an 'everyday car', while you have the 'muscle-car' in the garage for weekends. Impressive, alluring and fresh. Starts with an explosion of citruses ... joined by jasmine, cyclamen and spices. Unique, clean and inviting dry down with cedar and musk. Classic and modern elements ... the spirit of Kouros ... and powerful sillage ... a truly great scent!

Cedar and musk, rounded out by very subtle florals. A bit of citrus in the opening, but it goes away quickly. The musk sticks around ALL DAY. It's a good thing that it is quite a pleasant smell.

I agree with lovescully - a gentler but fresher Kouros alternative - it's an excellent EDT with good sillage and lasts quite a while.

A great scent to wear at work, interview and social events, especially on the days when you need confidence boost.

I'm surprised there are so few reviews of this. It's a nice alternative to summer aquatic or citrus scents. Cyclamen is the main note here, which isn't the main note in many other men's fragrance. It's a unique and pleasant floral, but not in an overly flowery way. Great longevity and sillage for a cologne.

This kouros is disappointing... It has nothing to do with the complexity of the original. It seems like an ordinary scented perfume with a low sillage but good longevity. It is a major letdown, It's not even fresh or sporty!... Totally disappointed!! YSL... Stick with your magic, avoid useless flankers and don't ever try to be like everyone else!!!

I received Kouros Cologne Sport on Saturday afternoon, which a friend very kindly sent to me from the USA. I had been waiting for my bottle for almost four weeks, and now it is finally in my hands. I was very excited when I took the Kouros Cologne Sport bottle out of its box; as soon as I smelled it (without even spraying it), I could sense a very promising aroma of Kouros in tune with current times, more citrusy and fresher. Once I applied it on my skin, I was fascinated by its aroma, which opens with sparkling citrus and a remarkable floral load. However, a few minutes later, the citrus fruits faded and the floral accords became even stronger, along with an animalic smell rather resembling leather--or unpacked brand-new gadgets, which reminded me of my childhood years. Actually, I expected citrus to prevail over the entire composition and the civet accord to be less pronounced. Kouros Cologne Sport is a very interesting olfactory proposal, a natural and organic mixture that has the DNA of the first Kouros that, combined with jasmine and cyclamen, gives it a very evident, soapy and oily aura, leaving you with mixed emotions (at least, that is my case). It comes across as a unisex perfume and does not seem very summery; it is rather an updated reinterpretation of classic Kouros, and so it could well have been named "Kouros Eau Blanche," "Kouros Cologne aux Fleurs et Cuir," or "Kouros Eau Douce." As for the olfactory features, this sport cologne offers good longevity (from 6 to 9 hours), as well as outstanding sillage and projection--these are amazing qualities for a fragrance intended for summer; in my opinion, it performs better in cooler weather on account of its plethoric floral charge and its prominent note of civet, which adds to the oily character of the juice. In the final phase, you can feel the camphorated, powdery aroma of the mythical Kouros, but it's creamier and full of jasmine, giving the composition a very unique twist. In short, I expected Kouros Cologne Sport to be more citrusy and to have more balance with its floral accords and a very soft civet note; I also wanted it to be my favorite flanker of the king of masculine perfumes. I'll have to test it more closely to grow to like it better. Of course, it is a bold and unique fragrance that stands out in any collection due to its scarcity and undeniable quality, thanks to Tom Ford's intervention in the YSL house during the PPR-Gucci era, when this aromatic piece was born. Here goes my note: Fragrance: 7/10 Longevity: 9/10 Sillage: 8/10 Projection: 8/10 Versatility: 6/10 Total score: 7.6/10

Kouros Cologne Sport is, to my nose the most similar to Kouros compared to all the other Kouros flankers besides maybe Eau de Sport. It seems closer to the original than Fraicheur, which to me smells like Irish Spring. Kouros Cologne Sport smells like the opening and mid of vintage Kouros minus the civet but instead injected with more musk and fleshy jasmine that gives this fragrance a great personality akin to the clean part of the original Kouros but still retaining that body odor type smell that I love. A more discreet and modern smelling Kouros for warmer weather, well executed and with okay performance for a warm weather scent. What I love the most about this fragrance is that it reminds me so much of the original Kouros. If you are looking for a variation of KOUROS that is easy to wear in 100 degree weather it doesn't get much better than this. For me personally, no Kouros Flanker has lived up to my expectations and thus I decided that like Fahrenheit and Antaeus, no flankers are needed in my opinion as the originals are enough. I have no problem wearing Kouros 80% of the year except for very hott summer days and that's fine by me as the rest of my wardrobe needs love to.

Kouros Cologne Sport was a superb flanker, showcasing the CGI magic that perfumery - when done right - can deliver so convincingly: making the opaque transparent, the rigorous, light-weight, the classic, contemporary. Cologne Sport is all of that, a delicate, ultralight impression of Kouros dry down, but always remaining unmistakenly Kouros. Cologne Sport is fresh without a touch of citrus, and it's also floral and relatively dry - somehow in the middle of Caron's Troisieme Homme and Cacharel Pour Homme. I am dubious about the listed notes - YSL came up with some slightly flexible bending of accords, mainly when the 'Collection' re-issues came out; e.g. I don't get a pronounced Bergamot here, preferably a good portion of Hedione, similar as showcases in Odeur 53 and an aldehydic 'hairspray' note in the opening. The bottle is gorgeous, brilliant modernism that could be right out of the Lobmayr manufactury in Vienna around the fin-de-siecle. The summer versions that followed Cologne Sport were in their first years somewhat similar to Cologne Sport, such a shame this is not produced any longer, another piece evidencing how great YSL was up until the mid-2000s!

Wonderful discontinued flanker... This is the only "sport" fragrance that I own, and like Dior Homme Sport this is not a typical aquatic sport fragrance, in fact it is very well made and really worth the money. It's just a shame that it's discontinued. It has a couple of unusual notes for a so-called "sport" fragrance. Jasmine and cyclamen. I think I really like the tangy mandarin, bergamot and citron that slowly turn to jasmine and cyclamen with a hint of cedar. It's really nice... and in my opinion, not a sport fragrance. It can be worn at any time as an Eau de Cologne. The bottle design is very nice, clear glass as opposed to the matt white surface of the original. I really like it. It's just a real shame it's discontinued. I have no problem using this one for work or for playing tennis or something. It feels more classy that a simple "gym" fragrance, and it is in no way synthetic. A really good one, and different from a "typical" sport flanker.

"Kouros Sport" which is to say "a lighter Kouros" which is to say "Kouros without its characteristic, infamous and controversial note" which is to say" Nicole Kidman after the plastic surgery" which is to say "not as fascinating as she used to be". Overall this is a pretty decent/pleasant fragrance, but way too pale to mantain the mesmerizing power of the original version. Rating: 6.5/10

The first few minutes are like the most important moments of Kouros lasting combined, got together in one "package". Civet,urine, herbs, honey, incense, camphor, woods - it's all here. After 10 minutes it gets milder, florals start to dominate whole composition. Still it's definitely masculine. A bit more modern maybe. The typical drydown on my skin is frankincense and soap. Interesting.

This is beautiful. The Kouros DNA is a time machine, able to transport you to your youth in a split second. It's a very wearable version of the OG, and one you can be confident won't choke out a Rhino at 50 yards. Its comforting and dreamy to me, and makes me feel more masculine wearing it. I will keep my eyes out for a 100ml or 50ml as I want this rare beauty for life

Great tonic, strong, bold, aromatic and refreshing If the original Kouros did not exist, it would have been difficult to find a close reference point for this scent. Its that good! If it was released under a different name and classifed as EDT Pour Homme it would earn a reputation on its own. For a cologne it easily outperforms many of today's EDTs.

I agree that this is a lovely uopdated version of the classic Kouros. Smells fresher, less strong. The only thing i dislike is the fact that it's a cologne and no EDT available. I think an EDT would be a GREAT success and make thousands like me happy! So if YSL is reading this, take note of this as a mkt survey.

Fantastic scent very masculine and projects real good and last long too, I will be wearing this juice this spring and summer, for real men!!. 9/10. August 9 2018 just got a 2013 bottle and I'm glad to announce that the potency (overall performance) is the same as my 2004 bottle.

This fragrance straddles the fence, with one leg on the side of "modern" and the other leg on the side of "dated". With that said, it is a fresh and clean scent. Slightly reminds me of Rive Gauche pour Homme by YSL, but with less lavender and barbershop.

Again, very similar to the OG Kouros. However, it's spicy and aromatic without the animalic touch. A true "sport" version of an original.

I also agree with lovescully and I would add that this is the perfect "Kouros Summer" version, specially for the brazilian weather.
