Kouros Eau de Toilette Tonique 2011

Summer Fresh (2011) Scentrack: Pet Shop Boys – Domino Dancing Kouros of 2011 opens with unidentified citric notes, immediately followed by strong marine, salty sea wind accord. At first sniff, it smells banal and overly synthetic. It takes time to recognize hidden layers, consisting of a cold incense note, musky freshness, pale fruitiness, and driftwood accord made of gentle Guaiac wood and some cedar. The usage of fresh and cold incense in summer scent is an interesting part of Kouros Tonique. Kouros Eau de Toilette Tonique has a normal projection, but longevity on my skin is great – up to 10 hours during hot or humid summer days. I did not expect this Kouros will be such a compliment-getter. Apparently, the ladies really like its distinctive and fluffy freshness. The whole composition has some 80s cheap, but the good vibe. Something Sonny Crockett from Miami Vice would wear. Scentimentalwords

I'm not sure if I have the 2011 version or not. The bottle I have looks identical to the picture here but my box is different. Maybe I have the 2010. Upon applying I get an almost unisex appropriate fresh aquatic. I've tried several Kouros flankers and my first thought with this was that it had the least of the Kouros DNA in it of them all. Then about 45 minutes in the aquatic top died down and out of the waters arose King Kouros. I was quite surprised the first time I wore this. It still doesn't have the strength of the original of course, it resembles Kouros Sport with a bit of the aquatic portion remaining for the remainder. Thumbs up for me.

Tried today, was a bit confused as to whether this was the summer 2010 edition, 2011 or was just a lighter version - the sales ticket stated it as being "limited edition". I love the raw power and sultry intensity of the original, that said, the intensity makes it unsuitable for every day wear in my opinion. Contrast that with the toned down, but still gloriously unmistakeable 'Kouros qualities' of this particular edition and you're onto a winner. More accessible, without losing the essence of what makes Kouros great - it's uniqueness. A future purchase for sure.

I totally agree with bp, this is the best male perfume. It is really excellent. I love this perfume. Does not look like the traditional Kouros, and notes of incense, wonderful. Fixing and extreme sillage. It's my favorite from over 800 that I have. There is almost no difference between this and the 2010 version, only grade incense. Are very similar.

even if you didnt like kouros, try this. masculine citrusy oceanic juice with distant drydown of kouros without any stink. LOVE it.

I may be crazy, but it reminds me more diluted Versace L'Homme! I do not feel notes seawater.

EXCELLENT. The best men's perfume for the summer of 2011.

I found this fragrance at a small corner market in of all places... Algeria! Its box was covered in dust next to a suspect looking Dior Eau Sauvage and a battered Paco Rabanne Black. I was not looking for any perfumes, in fact I was looking for water and some milk. I spied this fragrance perched atop a shelf and couldn't believe my eyes. So, I asked the shop owner if I could take it down and inspect the box. He obliged and after a few furious and rapid web searches, I was able to verify its authenticity (2012 bottle). I pulled the trigger for the meager price of 3500 Algerian Dinars (24 Euros!). As I left the shop I quickly unwrapped the box and pulled out the clear bottle. Check. Next, I hit the sprayer! Yes! Yes! Yes! Legit! Lemony incense, some woods and a very dry patchouli emerged and engulfed the car. Then, after a solid 40 minutes, the true essence appeared! Kouros in all its glory. I was pleased with the find but even more enamored with the fragrance. This tonique is perfect for summer and suited the Mediterranean perfectly! Think crisp polo, boating shorts, and espadrilles, Kouros Eau Tonique provides the perfect finishing touch! This is perfect for the 30 and up crowd and performs great on the skin or clothing. This is summer nights in a bottle. Give Kouros Tonique a few sprays when the salt of the sea has dried on your skin and the comforting grit of sand sits between your toes.

كورس هو أسطورة غنية عن التعريف، ملك العطور الذكورية المسكية أصدرت ايف سان لوران عدة عطور فرعية و العديد منها يحمل طابع صيفي/مخفف لكورس، عطر اليوم أحدها و هو عطر أو دي تواليت تونيك الغريب أن العطر لا يذكرني بكورس، عكس مثلا لابيدوس سبورت كما ذكرت بالمراجعة السابقة، هذا العطر هو عطر فوجير صيفي قد يشبه من بعيد باكو رابان بور أوم الأخضر لعمل نسخة صيفية يمكن اما اعتماد جزء من قاعدة العطر الأصلي و اضافة افتتاحية خفيفة مبهجة، أو استعمال جزء من الافتتاحية الأصلية و محاولة تغيير القاعدة بنوتات أقل حدة، اعتقد أن ايف سان لوران هنا اتجهت للخيار الثاني و قررت الاحتفاظ بالافتتاحية الفوجير لكورس و التخلص من القاعدة السويتية من العسل و مسك الزباد، و النتيجة عطر فوجير صيفي مع قلب بحري و قاعدة خشبية يشبه باكو رابان الأخضر و ليس كورس العطر مناسب للاستعمال الكاجوال في نهار الصيف و الربيع الأداء جيد جدا بثبات يصل ل 8 ساعات و فوحان في أول ساعتين التقييم 3.95/5 أي عطر يحمل اسم كورس يجب أن يحصل على تقييم أعجبني على أقل تقدير

I love deep, dark , sweetie ladies fragances but in a hot summer day I use man's frags and Kouros Tonique is perfect. I like the lemon, woody , patcholi and frankincese notes in it. I always get compliments from my girl friends, and I keep it secret never tell then its a man perfume. ;)

Unfortunately this one has fallen out of time. It got the the King's DNA for sure but it's just too much powder and patchouli to give any pleasure, smelling it. Tonique is a good performer though, 8+ hours easily. Said to be liked by women 40+, I believe that population has aged just as the fragrance has and is now more in the 60+ age bracket. Nothing wrong with that, it's always worth a spray for a trip down memory lane. The current Kouros EdT formulation feels more contemporary and wearable - at least in my books.

Another blind buy to regret. The marine note hits me in the pit of the stomach. The rest is unmistakably Kouros, but watered down. Sea-watered down. It shares this, for me, disagreeable note with Live Jazz, if I'm not mistaken. I think I'm going to sell it to a colleague.

Disaster, why name it Kouros??? No relation between the perfect King and this shy approach to the marine- fu%&(ng scents. 2/10

This is indeed Kouros, like a fresher alternative. The Kouros dna is still present from the initial spray. From the dissipating notes to the drydown, I smelled a transition from a freshie going to incense-sy to a powdery-woodsy finish. It's not a tone down version because it is not animalic unlike the original which is civet-like smell on the drydown. I don't think that teens would be rocking this scent although it has been targerted to the youth. I think this works best on young professional who would like to keep their youthful looks but still commands presence. I picture this guy wearing a wayfarer eyeglass, sporting a short hair slightly messed using a matt wax to pretend that he just got out of bed but still had that polished look. Wearing a tight-fitting plaid shirt with sleeves that accentuates his slim-toned body and with a slim type trousers without a belt. He wears an earring stud on the left ear to tell to the world that he is a rebel or a cool person but can't go any further that than. Much like a description of this scent. Trying to rebel and be cool but can'r avoid the presence of being refine and proper.

There are two Kouros Tonique here, and I think mine is this. I just bought the original and current Kouros, and it has been said that is a new formulation. It must be because I don't find the traditional cloying, overbearing, nor stinky. Having said that, this Tonique is on me more potent than the new formulation of the original, which I like more. It's hard to do a flanker of a classic, with few exceptions. I tried Polo Modern Reserve and I prefer the original Polo; I Know Azzaro pour Homme and tried the flankers L'Eau and Summer, and I still prefer the original; and now I got the Kouros and prefer it over the flanker. Tonique lacks substance. It's not transparend, mild or water bath, but a "less scent" compared to Kouros. Since the new formulation has nothing to do stinking bomb I always read everywhere, I prefer it over this flanker.

Kouros Tonique 2011.... I'm going to be honest here, this one is quite underwhelming. I wanted it to have more Kouros DNA, I wanted it to be soapy and have a classic vibe like Kouros. This is nothing more than a modern cirtus-aquatic that has little to nothing to do with Kouros. I struggle to find any similarities. It dose smell good and fresh and I would prefer it to many other Kouros flankers (Body, and Silver) but there are plenty of better fragrances to wear in the heat.

Kouros for summer, yes it is possible, it is not a dream! For anyone who loves classic Kouros, but think very loaded onto a sunny afternoon (no possibility to use it in the summer). At first nothing resembles the traditional softening but when he goes, there is the musky background and traditional incense! It is an alternative for those seeking a refreshing scent for summer, but with personality ...

I'm going to HAVE to get my hands on this when it "drops". Does anyone have the official release date?

What's the difference between this and the 2010 edition? The bottle is EXACTLY the same!!!
