I longed to feel 23 again, and searched for a bottle of the original, I had a couple of bottles around 93/94 when we knew it as "champagne" but because of the name change, and I heard that champagne had been discontinued, I never wore it again, til yesterday. All these years since this came out in 2011, I didn't have a clue you were "the champagne" staple of my early to mid twenties, I promptly ordered a bottled on Wednesday and couldn't wait for delivery, so I check out next day delivery and paid £6 for the pleasure All these years I have been without the luscious crispiness, so I looked for a vintage bottle. I found this and I was so surprised to find out this was indeed champagne, but with an updated name, such happy days, perfumes do hold their history, your memories, this is another reason while I adore perfume, fragrance, because it means so much more than just the scent, the smell. Now onto the review. Straight away the violet hit me, the fruits and the fizz of the champagne was straight under my nose, like a champagne glass and the bubbles hitting under my nose. I love Violet smelling perfumes, and mellow yellow scents, and this is very yellow profile, yellow sunflowers, narcissi, and I definitely can smell carnation. I adore my lifetime love and carnation fragrance, boudoir, by Vivienne Westwood, this was my favourite perfume of all time, she is now deceased (the perfume) People are saying in the review here they can't smell the Carnation, but I would say the carnation is the third prevalent scent profile that I can detect. Once it's settles, even though an EDT, (shame it doesn't come in an EDP) when I opened the bottle the first three sprays and then in the morning, I could still smell carnation on my wrist. After the fruity/floral, spice, a definite powdery-ness, which I adore, reminds me of a newborn baby, smelling all clean and cosy, with the crispiness of apples and 🍇 and finally, the definite vintage air of this fragrance, but it is not so vintage it is out of place today. I can smell daffodil, juicy fruit and a floral musky and powdery, resinous, sparkling gorgeousness. This will be my new day-to-day perfume. My Hermes 24 Faubourg I shall keep for the evenings. This is one of the truly most luscious fragrances, it is literally good enough to devour, just like a champagne 🍾 cocktail 🥂 One last note, lol the projection is very good for an EDT and the sillage surprisingly goes up to my shoulder

This was an impulse nostalgia buy after looking on eBay for the real deal and getting a real shock at the prices! In 1992/1993 I worked in a local pharmacy and we were the only local stockists of ‘fine perfumes’ - which for my little town meant mostly Yves Saint Laurent, Givenchy, Guerlain, Nina Ricci and the odd bottle of Dior or Chanel. The instantly recognisable scents of those days - Ysatis, Amarige, Champagne, Rive Gauche, Paris... they instantly transport me back to my 16 year old self, selling these exquisite perfumes to elegant ladies and wishing I could pull off these gorgeous scents. Fast forward a few years (!) and I am rediscovering all these classics. I ordered Yvresse with more than a little trepidation after reading the reviews lamenting how little it now resembled the original. BUT.... one spray today and I’m hooked all over again! I have never found another scent that genuinely feels ‘fizzy’ in the way this does. That sweet peach/nectarine hit is very much still at the forefront but seems more wearable and less cloying than I recall. The drydown reveals the balanced floral of rose and the warmth of the patchouli and a honey note. Even more importantly, it passed the discerning nose of my four daughters who all love it and want to know when it came out - so not as dated as I had feared - and it will now need hidden or I’ll barely get a spray to myself! I know they say you shouldn’t look back, but I’m so glad I rediscovered this old friend.

My favorite perfume I never smelled the original but it doesn’t matter bec I love this perfume. I’ve been looking for a peach nectarine perfume for a long time and I found it. This smells just like Nina Ricci’s Deci Dela perfume which was discontinued a long time ago. I compared the notes and they are very similar. I am so happy to own it. It smells classy, sophisticated, happy, bright, and youthful. Wearing this perfume puts me in a great mood. The sillage and projection is great. I wore it in the office and my co worker complimented me that I smell so good. This lasts all day even after I shower. The nectarine peach is mouth watering and intoxicating. I just love it so much. There is a Bath & Body Works lotion called Sparkling Peach Sangria. It has a similar vibe. When I smell Yvresse on the bottle, the scent is strong and sweet. Its heavenly. You can wear this all year round as a signature scent or for special occassions. I panicked when I saw its been sold out. I was wondering why its always 20% off sale on the yslbeauty website. What’s going on? Please don’t discontinue this. It is such a beautiful scent that I can’t live without. It’s intoxicatingly beautiful.

Gosh! My first thought was delicious fruity champagne. The scene from Charley and Chocolate Factory (the original and the best) popped into my head as Grandad and Charlie float upwards towards possible disaster but a good burp saves the day! Ripe peaches bobbing along in fizzy champagne. There is also the unmistakeable lychee note. Fresh ripe lychees picked straight from the tree smell like heaven and I am glad a perfume house has taken full advantage of this beautiful note. I definitely get a bit of accent from the violet, sweetness from rose and earthiness from patch in the background. Eventually the peachiness fades and then its all about a touch of lychee, some violet and a bit of patch. I cant believe this beauty has managed to stay below my perfume testing radar. Its supposed to be edt strength but Im sure its stronger. Good sillage and average longevity. This juice is gorgeous but now it makes me wonder how divine the original formulation must have been. So sad.

This is another perfume I bought blindly and I have to say that I'm so glad I did. I honestly wish that every perfume had Yvresse's power - this fragrance is VERY strong. It starts with a massive blast of stone fruits and violets, and while it is a linear fragrance overall, the initial burst of sweetness eventually calms down and the rose and patchouli come out to play. I find the patchouli in this to be more of a natural smell - earthy and deep with woody facets, which helps keep the fragrance from feeling juvenile or sickly sweet. As for the longevity and silage of Yvresse, it is absolutely astonishing. A few sprays last me all day on my skin and a few days on clothing - and I'm normally the type of guy to COVER myself in perfume. This happy little bomb will quickly fill out a room in the most pleasant way. This beast gets a solid 9/10 :)

I bought my first bottle of this perfume when I was 18 years old. This was wayyyy back when it was still called Champagne. It was so unique to me back then. Neither floral nor ambery/spicy. I had never smelled anything like it before and just fell in love with it. It's one of only 3 fragrances that I've continued to repurchase over the years. I can hardly describe what this scent means to me. Sometimes it's comforting, sometimes it makes me feel just feminine and pretty and some days it's pure nostalgia, but it always feels very ME or like coming home. If that makes sense. This newer version is not as in your face bold and sexy as the original 90's version, but somehow softer or fluffier. Which I don't mind at all. I wear Yvresse for me, so it's okay that it sits closer to the skin.

Is it the original Champagne? No. But the current formulation of Square-bottle Yvresse is closer to the original Champagne than it has been in YEARS....close enough that I purchased not one but two bottles on a recent trip to Paris. For many years the square-bottle Yvresse was very displeasing to me, smelling entirely too synthetic/powdery/sharp and the effervescent peachy citrus opening was almost absent, I could simply not justify a purchase. Thankfully that has changed and I'm extremely pleased to have this in my collection, as it satisfies by craving for Ysl Champagne well enough. Perhaps L'Oreal has taken the fragrance community seriously and improved their reformulations? One can only hope.

I've just picked up a bottle, when compared to the original, there is a difference, mainly in the opening, but the drydown is almost identical, it's wonderfully smooth. The YSL assistant explained that the fragrance had a 'live fruit' ingredient, and it is the fruit that makes this unique. I can imagine sales of this are very poor in comparison to new additions like Black Opium and old classics like Rive Gauche, so thanks YSL for keeping going with it. My only criticism would be the horrible chunky bottle, it works so well with my bottle of M7, heavy and bulky, Yvresse is so light and feminine, it needs something more delicate. It is still unique and fabulous, love it.

Smelled it for the first time on my grandma and fell in love with it she had champagne which was more intense and lasted for days it was crazy how such a strong scent never irritated my throat allergey, Yvresse is beautiful it lasts long just not the same intensity as the original one but still beautiful it makes you feel like you entered a black & white movie, it's expansive but worth every cent as it lasts forever due to it's intense scent you won't need much, I'm backing up from it as the stocks for it have been worrying

I just compared this to my vintage edition ( the old champagne bottle) They are very much alike in a very positive sense. The nectarine is the most dominant note, followed by litchi and patchouli. Fizzy, sparkling, lively and joyous. I love the Life in this scent. Mood liftting and energizing. Love love love this one... and I enjoy it just as much as my vintage one which I use sparingly. Longevity and silageis both impressive 8+ hours on clothes and skin. Loads of compliments wearing this one ...

I compared a vintage sample of this fragrance to this version and they smell identical to my nose. There is no reason to buy the original in a FB on ebay when this can be had for sooo much less. The majority here are right this smells like the perfume in the original bottle. Gorgeous stuff. Vintage style. Best nectarine, bubbly champagne style fragrance I've ever encountered. YSL your vintage fragrances are so much better then what you make now. Promote this gorgeous fragrance, it will sell.

Wow this is the best fruity chypre ever. I can vaguely remember the original but I was very young and wasn't keen then. It was too sophisticated for my young nose. Fast forward 40 yrs and BOOM. I read the notes and had to have it. Risky for a blind buy coz it's not cheap or easy to find but I'm sooo glad I did. Its like a fresh cut peach ,watery dewy rose and finally patchouli. Its stunning this would easily be my signature scent if easier to come by. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

Yes it is a bit different than the original Yvresse but it is very close to that scent (for the first 2 hours almost identical). And the most important thing of all, at least for me, it is worth the money. It has great sillage and it is very long lasting! I love it and i usually hate reformulations. But you have to remember this: thay had stopped producing the perfume at all! So we should be happy they brought it back in the market. I am!

The actual juice is much more complex than the listed pyramid: a peach explosion that mellows into spicy amber. I suspect this reissue is faithful to the original, although I haven’t sniffed it. As in the original pyramid, I can smell some peach, cinnamon, aniseed and vanilla. 2011 Yvresse is plump, fun and borderline excessive in its fruitness. It reminds me of two things I love: Mitsouko and Bellinis. A perfect pairing.

Love this fizzy classic. It has 80s vibes but is not as over familiar as Paris. It’s a joyful fizzy fragrance with a peach informed, rather than literal, top note. It has staying power and although I wear it often with casual jeans and a tee, the initial impression is of a dressy event perfume. It is a beautiful evocation of champagne. Just buy it for your happy classy self.

my mom wore this to go out and for special occasions. when i graduated high school, she gave me a bottle as a gift. i smell it and think of my mom getting ready, and how beautiful she would look. the nectarine mixed with the violet creates a lightly fruity and sweet powdery scent that's reminiscent of both women's cosmetics and champagne in the best way

This is absolutely divine, I want to smell it again and again. The top notes pickle my nose like lovely sweet champagne, then the scent turns creamier, like rose lipstick, very elegant and comforting. It stays on clothes for several days or even weeks (on a coat or fur) and also lasts long on skin (8+ hours).

Ok it's not the same as the old stuff but I personally love this one and my skin is in love with it! The perfume which collect the most compliments when I'm wearing it. Stays all day and gives a very elegant feeling. The only chypre fruity I love! 10 excellent!

When they discontinued this perfume after canceling the Champagne version, my scent loving heart broke. No other perfume has ever quite resonated with my soul as this does. Effervescent, happy, confident, feminine, exuberant, joyful and adventurous ❤️

gotta write again, I start to wear ONLY this perfume... It is amazing... just amazing... thanks god i never tried the vintage version, wouldn't be able to appreciate it!!! as i can't smell "fakes" like estee, knowing, magie noire etc...

@lazza well, fascinating - I feel peaches and champagne bublles in this "la collection" version. I tried twice the original Yvresse and it was huge disappointment - weird sweet powdery perfume... no peaches no sparkle nothing...

Is anyone able to confirm if they've altered the composition within the last couple of years? The bottle I bought years ago would radiate for hours, my new bottle I got last week doesn't seem to last 2 hours! I'm very sad 😭

Have never tired the original yvresse or champagne but if they were anything like this one they had to be one of the best thing ever made !!!! I have one word for this parfume and that's "wow".

this and paris are my moms favorite fragrances and they’re so comforting to me. this smells like a warm blanket but also fresh and clean for everyday wear. i love her! lasts for ages

I had Yvresse 15 years ago. Today I bought the new version. I think it is still the same. It is only lighter because now it is an EDT. It used to be a perfume in the 90`s....

Love, love, love! Classy, optimistic, cheerful and naughty. Delicate fruits, cosmetic-like violet. And yes, it is sparkling, fizzy and heady like light alcohol.

I had the old one when it was called champagne and also the new one called yvress I just wish I would have kept the original formula way better.

I really love it! I sprayed it once in the morning, I still feel it now, it lasted for more then 12 hours... wow!

07.february 2012 First of all i haven ́t tried the "Yvresse" but only "Champagne" which i have both in EDT and pure parfum version and i looove it. Maybe the original "Yvresse" is no different from "Champagne", i don ́t know, but yesterday i have smelled finally this new edition of "Yvresse" and was really dissapointed. Yes, it is still very much like "Champagne", but it has much more violet leaves in it and too much of the rose note. Because of that the opening is very much chemical and really unpleasant. While the original one was more fizzy thanks to the peaches, this one is having more of some dusty note in it. This one doesn ́t have that amazing peach note and you can instantly feel that there are less notes in composition than in the original one. Quite suffocating in the beginning it becomes more pleasant after many hours, but still a shadow of this joy in the bottle... Nope, i will pass on this one, next please... UPDATE (next day): well, this one is actually not bad, might be even enjoyable, but for those who have experienced the original one this one might not be enough. While original one was like a dance of champagne bubbles this one is more like a sad purple rain. ANOTHER UPDATE (the day after tomorrow): Well, after trying this one the 3rd time and wearing it for the whole day i start to like it actually. Yes, still the opening is too chemical for me, too much dusty violet combined with rose, but in general this is quite the same fragrance as it used to be in general MINUS fizzy peach. It can be really nice actually and i keep sniffing my wrist the whole day today. Sillage is great and lasting power as well, so i have no big complaints actually. But of course, the original will be my favorite, i wouldn ́t lie about that. As much as i hate to admit it L ́oreal have done a nice job with this one as well.

A Blast from the Past... I remember my mother having the original Champagne, later the renamed Yvresse (because of the Champagne trademark protection lawsuit) and I, in my teens, having a huge frosted bottle of the legere -version, having found the EDP too strong for my teenage sensitivities, but fascinated with the scent. All the original bottles were gorgeous, very well crafted to emanate the champagne -filled special moment happiness and luxury of the scent. As for the Collection version: I think you will immediately recognise the scent, if you have memories of the original from the nineties. It may lack some of the richness and initial spark of the original, being a simplified version, but I think it's definately a worthy buy, if you miss the original scent. The nectarine note makes the scent still so luscious and rich. The texture of the liquid is more alike to oil than water. Which explains the super longevity, I think. The original was a real powerhouse in sillage and longevity and the Collection version is to be sprayed with consideration too. Personally I use too sprays max, and even one spray is enough if you want to use this on an everyday basis. I wouldn't call this office safe, more of a special moment scent. (Which to me can mean anything from a happy day off work or a big festivity) The collection bottle will last you a long time. I very much enjoy the Collection version of the scent although I must confess, I would love to find the original/legere -version, just for the gorgeous bottle and a walk down on memory lane...

Although Yvress is inspired by champagne, I am not sure whether I get a fizzy feeling, but I do get an uplifting fun feeling from the lychee – one of my favourite fruits – and peachy nectarine opening. Lychee in particular is a wonderful, fleshy, tropical fruit with a light and bright fruity aroma that sings freely through the top of the perfume. Perhaps it is the patchouli, which I get relatively upfront when I spray on my skin, that grounds the fruit with an earthy, decidedly non-bubbly tone. However, the patchouli is also integral to the chypre structure, which is what gives it a more sophisticated feeling that does gel well with the occasion of drinking champagne. I think the most appealing quality of Yvresse is that it is a non-juvenile fruity perfume. Arguably the ‘easiest’ way to handle and wear fruity notes is in a juicy, sweet, watery, naturalistic manner, which also tends to feel a bit younger. Here, although it isn’t traditionally powdery, the fruity notes have been wrapped in a blanket of violet and patchouli, which does give it a kind of powdery feel that reads more mature. Something about this perfume makes me think of lazy afternoons browsing around spacious, upmarket department stores of the mid-90s with fluorescent lighting, Muzak, and a lot of cream and gold chrome décor. Which in my books is definitely a good thing. I think it would pair well with a slightly more coiffed outfit and coral lipstick.

i haven't had the good fortune to sniff the original so no comment there. I do think that despite reading the reviews before trying a sample of this, that this is a lovely perfume. it's powdery and soft but not so soft that it disappears, as to its longevity we shall see towards the end of the day. the notes listed are accurate, i can actually piece out the flush of nectarine, the sweetness of lychees, the delicate violet flower and the oomph of the patchouli. overall, a lovely perfume. nothing va va voom but deserving of a good review. Having tried and bought the original Yvresse, I have to say the two are completely different scents. Not to say La collection is bad, not at all. I still stand firm that it is a lovely scent. But it is a younger, more innocent, less interesting scent than Yvresse who comes across as a lush compared to the other. I like both...will save them for my Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde days :)

I bought this about two weeks ago kinda on a whim as I was buying a birthday gift for a friend and I tried this earlier and liked it but they were sold out, this time they weren’t. It was also at a time where I was wanting to move to more subtle, fresh, clean maybe musky scents or overall office friendly scents as I was starting a new job soon that was, well, in the office lol! Anyway about the fragrance... I liked it and thought it was a nice musky floral slightly fruity fragrance but when my friend smelled it on my skin and I asked for her opinion, she said it was a bit more suited to an older woman which I don’t disagree with honestly but it did contribute to me struggling to wear it more. I still consider it office friendly and will wear it when I don’t know what to wear and want something safe, not a bad fragrance but I’m not regretting this purchase especially with it’s impressive longevity!!

12. april 2012 I have tried it now several times and i can assure you that this one still smells like Yvresse and quite long lasting as well, but since it is reformulated, the composition is not that rich and the opening is not pleasant at all, it scared me off, you have to get use to it. With original "Yvresse" it was different, it was pleasant all the way and had a real "fizzy" feeling. This one just as "plain" as it can be, nothing "bubbly". But still quite good (though chemical is the word i always get when spray this) and if you miss Yvresse it is a good copy. Please don ́t expect it to be an exact copy of Yvresse. So worth trying indeed.

I hate to be one of those people who say 'it's not as good as the original', but sorry, that's the truth of it. It's not as complex and you have to wait a while to get past all the heavy fruity tones, to the warm sparkle underneath. When that finally does come through, after a couple of hours or so on my skin, then it is comparable to Champagne and far more chypre. Having said all that, I still find it a nice perfume once it has mellowed, was just disappointed that it doesn't have that lovely complexity from the very beginning as it once did. It also stays a bit too fruity to match the old formulation.

This fragrance was a tricky one for me. I bought it blind because I found it at a ridiculously good price. It smells very vintage, sweet and l can definitely detect the nectarine. But that vintage undertone made me feel a little ill and somewhat unsure of my purchase. Having had it for a while now l can definitely say l like it. It's sophisticated and stands out from the more contemporary releases we are accustomed to. You should definitely be lighter handed with this, especially when first exploring this powerhouse. I find it blooms in warm weather and that vintage undertome is not as prominent.

Having now tested the original Yvresse (EDT) and this version my thoughts are the following: The 'collection' version is more brash and crude. I prefer the subtlety, femininity and delicatesse of the original. You definitely pick up the missing notes in the original too which makes it an altogether more creamy, soft and sensual fragrance. I find this version slightly disappointing. One has all the class of Monica Bellucci and the other is Megan Fox.

Per me, questo è il profumo adatto ad essere indossato a Capodanno. Sì, perché mi riporta a quella notte luccicante in cui tutti aspettano il nuovo anno, facendo previsioni circa l'andamento del nuovo anno in arrivo. Il profumo in se, è squisito, una pesca appena raccolta con attorno sentori di violetta e una spolverata di cannella, ottimo! Ricorda moltissimo l'odore dei rossetti di una volta. ❤️

The fragrance settles into a patchouli base. Longevity is around 6 hours with moderate projection. Perfect for lovers of more mature, classic compositions.

Bought it blind as I’ve never smelled or used this or the old version. At first I was a bit hmmmm, but after 5 minutes I’m like wow this is so lovely. The nectarine 🍑 smells gorgeous, and I’m not one for fruity fragrances. It’s a big like from me. Lovely 🥰

The opening is much too fruity for me. It gets more interesting as it dries down, ending with a glimmer of Mitsouko’s peach. I can see why people get intrigued by this and love it. I like it but it’s not love.

I feel hyacinth, poudre and violet mostly, it's a cute, fresh and long lasting spring fragrance, like a lot of YSL fragrances. It's an older brother of Paris, Balenciaga.

Yum, this smells like a fizzy, peachy-fruity champagne! I don't usually like fruity frags, but this is putting a smile on my face!

It feels so unkind to write anything but praise — I hate to lessen anyone’s joy. However, whatever bottle my vial was decanted from was filled with a saccharine juice that smells exactly like the pink amoxicillin I was prescribed in my youth. Where are the effervescent, bubbly, champagne-like celebratory notes? It’s not even boozy nectarine, it’s an opened can of orange soda that’s sat out a few weeks in the sun. Sticky. I think for true fans, recourse to the vintage edition is essential. I so wished to love this. Bet it was stunning in its original form! Btw even today Petite Cherie retains the lightly fizzy opening and delicately fruity floral vibe that I was hoping for here, in a more mature big sister. Oh well!

I succumbed and bought La Collection Yvresse, realising that every one's skin does react differently to fragrances. I am appalled that L'oreal would do this to such a unique perfume. The package and bottle has Yvresse on it, it is nothing like the discontinued Yvresse. Yvresse has around 24 notes in it La Colletion has 5. Sprayed and was hit with chemical green note. The smell on my skin is disgusting, can barely smell the peach, vaguely can detect the violet, and the dry down patchouli is vile,a chemical smell that smells as if I had rolled in mouldy grass clippings. Will see by the end of the day the result, the old Yvresse would last all day on my skin, it was effervescent and the powdery dry down was delightful. Doubt if i will ever waste my money on La Collection ever again. It is like comparing vinegar to fine wine.

GOOD FOR THE MONEY! Went by the YSL counter in my local dept store the other day and decided to try it the new La Collection version. First I spritzed a card and put it in my wallet and then after my wrist. All I can say is, on my skin it was a very vague reminder of the original Yvresse; all I got was a slap of something very pungent and after one hour I could not recognise it as Yvresse any more! In my wallet it lasted a few days and all the money in there came out smelling of Patchouli :o) I wore Champagne when it first came out and on my wedding day in 1995. I still have the pure perfume bottle, albeit empty but the fragrance is still there. I have worn Yvresse on and off since then and have no intention of buying the new "cheap" clone :o(

whilst the notes make the fragrance seem like a perfect match for the person looking for a playful and fun smell, i did not expect the actual smell to be as mature as it was. the notes seem quite sweet but the actual scent is very mature and cloying. definitely not as sparkly to me? i actually found it the latter- very linear and sharp! for those who do like this smell, you’ll be happy to know that the longevity is very impressive, especially for an edt that i only sprayed once on my wrist (but maybe not the best for someone who wasn’t a fan of the smell, haha)!

Update....After wearing La collection for last few days it does have a weak resemblence to Yvresse, my opinion is better than my firt day of wearing, but still a huge dissapointment compared to Yvresse and it's beautiful complex formula. What is sad is there is no choice, that if you desire a vague reminder of Yvresse this is all we have left to choose from. Of course this is on my skin, hopefully others have a more satisfying result. But am still very dissapointed and a little dillusioned that La Collection is my only alternative.
