La Nuit de L'Homme Eau Électrique

I wanted to add some more notes on this fragrance since I have had more time with it in the last few weeks. When I received it, I wasn't overly impressed: it didn't really work in the early cooler spring days, but since the summer heat has arrived I have grown to absolutely adore this fragrance. A bright opening, with a bit of bright citrus detected, the apple is very obvious is definitely the main character along with lavender. In theme drydown it gets quite sweet with vanilla and tonka and some depth coming from the cashmere and cedar. It is a lot sweeter and projects extremely well in warm weather, it's a much more muted composition in the cold. This is definitely a more summer friendly LNDH release, I think it it works better in the heat than Frozen Cologne did, and I also prefer the scent profile of this to FC. I can definitely see why some people would compare this to Eros, the balance of sweet and citrus, but I wouldn't think this was an Eros flanker if someone gave me a spray from a blank bottle. It smells less like something for the Eros line than Valentino BIR Yellow Dream does to me, and I don't see anyone comparing YD to Eros. I think the Eros comparisons are just a product of the time when this was released and everyone had Eros fever. This is a great Spring Summer release, and I got it so cheap that I don't need to be concerned with running the bottle dry. I would definitely consider buying another once this is gone if the price is right. I'd give this a solid 8.5/10

At first I thought I hated it. I usually do not like Apple in top notes. (It's a cheap inexpensive and often synthetic top note.) But I stuck with it. And throughout the day i began to enjoy it. There is something more happening here than just the cheap simple apple note. And I don't hate the apple and actually enjoyed the rest of the fragrance. Maybe it is the other notes that kept coming back to visit me the rest of the day. I wouldn't say it's exceptionally long lasting, but it does stay with you. It's sort of like a teenager. Google "Nick D’Aloisio". When you meet him you think "who is this teenager? Oh well he's cute, but he's so young. He probably just plays videos games or goes to the movies. Maybe one day he'll attend college." Uhm, no girl, Nick D’Aloisio designed, deployed, and sold an app for smartphones. Today that 18 year-old is worth half a billion dollars. So that's what this fragrance reminds me of. It's more than meets the eye. But at the same time and at the end of the day, it is still a teenage boy having wet dreams. This fragrance is Nick D’Aloisio.

Before the review a few notes 1) I'm a big fan of YSL despite their inherent lack of silage and longevity. 2) I had to make a blind buy because I couldn't find it at a retailer near me. 3) I appreciate the helpful reviews in deciding to purchase or not. My honest review after about a week of wearing this is this is a definite success. I really was expecting something fresher and lighter based on the profile of the notes but what I got is more sweet and gourmand nothing to me like Eros but more like Armani Code profumo. The performance, oddly, is all over the place for me. One wearing I could still smell it after 14 hours and another it was gone completely in under 2 but I'd say average is 4-6 with a soft silage. Also, for what it's worth, this is nothing like Ultime. I have gotten some nice compliments and zero negative feedback. Personally I really like the way it smells and for my chemistry it works well. Definitely not ground breaking but that is not really necessary for it to smell good.

Just received a 100ml bottle in the mail today, at a HUGE discount. It was not at all what I was expecting. I can see why some might make comparisons to Eros, although it is a very light juice, and it smells more like a l'Homme flanker than a La Nuit de l'Homme flanker. A very different opening, the apple is very obvious in the opening and is the main thing I can smell with the lavender and geranium playing the supporting role. I don't really detect many other notes, maybe some cashmere, cedar, and light Tonka. It's definitely not what I would classify as a sweet scent, even though I have seen many people saying it is. It definitely smells like it's in the l'Homme family, maybe too bright to be a LNDH release. It's a very pleasant fragrance and I could see it being great in the day. I will write a longer review after I have some more time with it.

Fresh, minty opening. It is also a bit spicy. Sometimes It can be a little bit sharp at this stage (It depends how my nose feels in that moment), but that it's just for the first minutes, and for me that's ok. The nice thing about this is that, when it starts setting down, you get those brush strokes of La Nuit combined with this fresh / bold aura. Then it surrounds you with a really delicate sweetness in the dry down, which It is my favorite part. I must admit that at the store, at first try, I wasn't sure about purchasing this, because of course it reminds me immediately of other perfumes that I already own, but after wearing it for a while, I have come to the idea that it brings its own thing to the table. In my opinion a very nice fragrance. Very pleasant to wear. It last long on my skin and it has a very nice sillage. I am happy with this.

After a quite piercing and synthetic opening, which fortunately lasts just about 10 minutes, this fragrance evolves into a comforting and classy scent, similar to La Nuit de L'homme but sweeter and more aromatic. An adjective I would use for it is "magnetic". It smells to me like a charismatic man, confident, calm. I think this is perfect for the office and for a 25 to 40 year old man. However, you can wear it also when you go out at night and dress nicely. Longevity is good on my skin (6-7 hours), projection is not loud but not weak either (it still projects quietly from my neck after 4 hours). I don't understand people who want to use it as a club scent, nor I understand the comparison with Eros (uh??). Overall a great scent, plus my gf loves it.

@jpon91 I agree with the Armani Code Profumo comparison, thank you for pointing that out! Tested the two side by side and can say you’re spot on with Électrique being a perfect cross between Eros & Code Profumo. This is wonderful, overlooked, and underrated in my opinion. I love the classic La Nuit, so I understand it being difficult to accept this as a flanker given it’s not the most original or groundbreaking release. That being noted, it’s still lovely and quite enjoyable. Longevity: 7-8 hours Sillage: 1-2 feet for the first 2 hours. Seasons: Fall, Winter, Spring evenings Occasions: Night out, semi-formal... could work in certain formal settings. Not a bad choice for intimate occasions either. Overall: 7/10

I really like this stuff. It may not be anything new, but it does go in its own direction. Unless you are expecting some sort of masterpiece, I don't know how anyone can dislike this. Overall I think this is great. It does smell similar to Eros when you smell it by itself, but when you compare them side by side they smell different. Eau Electrique is a more warm, refined version of Eros. Eros is more attention grabbing and Eau Electrique is more seductive. I personally don't have any performance issues with this. It's not as loud as Eros but that seems to be by design as it is loud enough to be noticed and it lasts the entire night.

This is actually very nice. I'm sure much of the hate is from those disillusioned with La Nuit in general. This does smell similar to Versace Eros, but it's not quite as loud, but I would say it's more refined & a more mature version. It's thicker & creamier. The Apple is prominent, but the top has a surprising but intoxicatingly "creamy berries" type smell on top. Think dark raspberry or blackberry. Vanilla & Tonka are prominent but also subdued. Performance is very good - projection is quite good, longevity is quite good. Get a hold of this one before it's reformulated or pulled off the market.

This scent is really really good!perfect for spring or even a less hot summer day. Maybe 50 - 60 degree weather (that's fahrenheit ) Its fresh, its spicy and its sweet, not too sweet and is very easy to like. I do wish it lasted a bit longer since its a bit pricey, but i dont regret getting it. Just apply a little more than what you usually do, DONT RUB IT IN YOUR ARMS OR ANY PART OF YOUR BODY! SPRAY AND LET IT SIT TILL It DRIES, and you can get it to last waaay longer. Longevity 8.2/10 Silage 7/10 Projection 9.2/10 Performance 9.6/10 Price 6.3/10 Overall 40.3 Grade - S

Again and again why this one gets all this hate? I dont understand it. Those who compare it to Eros are unfair. We all do have different levels in sensing things. They smell the mint which leads them to Eros. But the mint in this one is of a higher class for sure. To be honest I got the smell of the original la nuit in my first spray and later I smelled the mint but the blend is well made up to perfection. I love it. I will pick this one over Eros anytime. It performs very well and stays close to the skin for hours. The mint open your sinuses and makes you relax.

This is one of my top frags. I have never tried Bleu Électrique which everyone often says is the best LNDL flanker but if that smells even better than this, then I understand the hype. This stuff actually smells similar to the OG but has a bit more sweetness and lasts longer so it's all wins in my book considering how good the original LNDL smells. The only reason I don't wear this as often as I want to is because a replacement bottle would cost more than 3 times what I originally paid for it which is a tough pill to swallow.

Geranium can be confused for mint but here it is sharper, crisper. Some say this reminds them of Eros and others say it has Y EDP vibes. It may be a combo of the two with a hint of LNDL thrown in. This is nice but could have been great. All they had to do was keep the cardamom and you'd have a warmer LNDL with a sweeter more deductive vanilla/tonka base in lieu of the dominant lavender of the OG. This does project better than the OG and last 6 hours so that is a plus. Would have been nice if they kept the cardamom though

This is a great scent. I find it much more intriguing than the original version LNDH, it is sweet, sexy, alluring and not synthetic at all, I really don't understand all this hate on this fragrance. To me it is better than Versace Eros, long lasting, dark and really electric. I received a lot of compliments wearing Eau Electrique and it is one of my favourites for clubbing and dating scents. Honestly I stopped worrying what people's saying about it...Indeed not a common scent, great release from YSL

It is an excellent, excellent, excellent fragrance! I'm pleased that I got it. It was a solid performance for me. Excellent longevity. But I went too far and bought too many backup bottles. This smells like Eros EDT mixed with La Nuit de l'Homme Frozen Cologne, does not smell just like Eros (does not have mint), or just like Frozen Cologne, the mixture is really good and the Geranium pops a lot behind that Green apple. A really nice flanker for daily use, it does smell sexy, has the same performance of the line, so keep this for close encounters.

I thought this was supposed to be a summer fragrance by the note breakdown but to my noes it is not. It is a fresher woodier spicy Version of the original in my opinion. As it dries down to me almost smells just like the original. The top is much more fresh than the original. A bit disappointed as I expected something different. But still like it ok.

Eager to try this one out. The bottle looks beautiful,like deep ocean and smth electric as the name says itself, quite masculine. Hope it will be a well blended touch of freshness and sweetness cause i like the notes, but mostly, hope they will correct sillage and longevity. The "old" La Nuit would be ashamed if not so !

This is a nice fragrance. This is for any age. Occasions, date night/dinner & a movie/close encounter fragrance. Longevity 5-6 hrs, heavy spray 6-8 Projection 2-2.5 hours, sits close, creating a scent bubble. Edit: Pretty much what you’d expect from the L’ Homme line. Not their best but definitely not their worst. 7/10

Honestly I am a huge fan of the opening and quality of the scent. It’s definitely different from Versace eros but falls into the same category of fragrances. Longevity is also better than other flankers of LNDT. I would give a big thumbs up to buy them before it’s disappeared forever.

It is clearly not the greatest nor the most unique scent out there, but it is too downvoted in my opinion. I honestly don't think it's as bad as most people say. It is sexy, very pleasant, versatile and it gets compliments. Definitely a decent generic fragrance. 7.5/10

I don't understand why the snobs on youtube all turn their noses up at this fragrance, it's pretty nice! I actually got it by mistake, having ordered bleau Électrique but recieving this instead. I enjoy wearing it as it's a change of pace from what I normally choose.

Actually quite pleased with this. No, its not ultra daring, and it does stay close to the original L'hommes, but if you like Ultra Male and Eros then I definitely recommend this one. In fact this is superior to both. I sold my Ultra male because I like this more.

This is a very nice fragrance...reminds me alot of Versace Eros. In the dry down u get a slight whiff of original la nuit dna. Maybe not "ground breaking" fragrance, but still very enjoyable. Not quit as strong as Eros, maybe more like the day version of Eros.

Dont blelieve the dislike hype. This fragrance is very nice. Fresh and clean fruity/minty opening with decent projection. Longevity is Ok. It has some vibes from eros and the original la nuit de lhomme but it is a deferent scent.

@Jaradona Many new fragrances get a lot of dislikes before thery are even released just based on some people assumptions. This is common in fragrantica. I meant try it and dont bypass this one based on the dislike bar :)

I've read reviews in here but out of all flankers (even the L'Homme) this one's even better in terms of projection and silage and I like that fizzy aquatic feel. Yes, it's synthetic and not so hyped but I love it.

I love this fragrance. Although it does remind me of versace eros, but to me it's a bit more fresh, but the dry down is very sweet. It is very similar but it does not deserve how much hate that it's getting.

Have never smelt Eros...odd I know. But I love this perfume. Strong green apple at the start, settles into a strong vanilla, that is pretty versatile! Very sweet scent but IMO definitely worth a sniff.

over-hated fragrance. This is worth the buy if you find it for a good price. It performs really strong, you just need 2-3 sprays and you will have this for hours on you. Overall great fun fragrance.

I really like the whole L'homme line. Beautiful scents. Sad that they're so weak. Weak longevity and kind of poor sillage. But I love them all so much. Would be a 10/10 if it had more power!

this smell like a combination of eros EDP and trussardi a way for him, less woody than eros edp less sweeter than trussardy a way for him i like it

Came back to say it’s great seeing this climbing the rankings. Massively underrated scent. A fantastic wear on a warm summer’s day. Keep climbing.

Take Ysl Nuit, remove the cardamom, add roughly 25% Paco Rabanne Invictus or Azzaro Wanted and you have Eau Électrique.....mint of Eros perhaps?

Why did they strip out the cardamom? That's a hallmark of La Nuit and would have made this fragrance quite a bit better. I can see how some may compare this to Eros as the geranium and sage can give a mint like vibe. This is still closer to LNDH though. You get some spicyness from the aforementioned combo of geranium and sage that give off a cardamom like vibe but here it is a background note whereas in LNDH it takes the center stage. The vanilla here lends a nice sweetness that is more prominent than in LNDH. It also gives a nice creamy texture whereas I felt LNDH was more powdery sweet. I do like the creamy vanilla as they found a nice balance that gives some freshness and sweetness without be cloying. It also feels more contemporary. This actually reminds me a lot like Layton but without the strong menthol note. Projection is good as is longevity. Not great but good enough unless you demand to be noticed which misses the entire point of the L'Homme line. This could have been great had they included cardamom. It seems like YSL corrected this mistake in the Bleu Electrique flanker but then they stripped out the delicious creamy vanilla. If you want a spicier fresher LNDH get Bleu. If you want a sweeter but less spicy LNDH get Eau. Both perform way better than current batches of LNDH which is fairly abysmal.

I don't how this gets so much hate for just being different than the rest of the line? Its a less sticky more powdery Versace Eros to describe it as easy as possible. It’s not a clone by any means but same vein of similarities. Actually gave my son my Eros bottle because its so similar and this suits me better. More Eros for the office or a older guys Eros. Has the La Nuit DNA deep in the base but is quite different than the other flankers. Performance is best on warm skin. Sometimes it dies quick in a few hours in cold A/C, sometimes I smell it 10 hours later, kinda strange but think its all about skin heat. I don't know how this would not please the masses but understand its hard to be in the shadow of the original LNDL. Every time I wear this I like it more. Not sure if my bottle is getting better with age or its just me. Good one to keep a hold of if you bought it back then but wouldn't seek it out now that its marked above retail. 8 overall for me. update : this one is getting more compliments than I ever thought possible! I like it cause is out of the mainstream just enough that I smell unique but its still mass appealing.

@Goodfella I own Eros and Chanel Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme. I just stopped wearing Eros - it's just too strong for me. I tried Oxford Bleu, and it's better...but I actually think this fragrance is fine. You have to forget that this is unoriginal and just take it for how it smells. This is definitely not ground breaking stuff at all! Having said that, if you kind of like Eros, but wish it was just a little less 'out there' this is honestly a good alternative. I am wearing it right now and hey, I'm good with it! I can see this fragrance as being a compliment-getter too! If this is YSL's answer to Dior's Sauvage and Versace's Dylan Blue....I think I prefer this out of the three. I just don't like Sauvage and I've given it multiple wearings. Dylan Blue probably needs more time with me. Eau Electrique...to my nose it's pretty good.

I'm wearing this now, and while this is definitely not a masterpiece, I don't think it's quite as bad as how other reviewers see this fragrance. Forget that it smells like 'something else'....it's got a fruity, semi-sweet opening, lots of vanilla and tonka, and the geranium gives it a 'minty' note. I actually like the fresher opening. Dry-down is ok, but nothing special. If you like Versace Eros (or even English Laundry's Oxford Bleu), but maybe felt those scents were just a little too 'heavy', I can see this as being a more 'refined' alternative. This fragrance reminds me of being a cross between Eros and Chanel Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme. I honestly think this is OK. Not a masterpiece, and I get the criticism. Just giving a different perspective. It's pleasant enough, and I kind of like it!

It is somewhat similar to Versace Eros. I'd say it's even more similar to Hugo Boss Just Different due to the combination of apple and cashmeran/cashmere wood, the last of which is lacking in Eros. It is probably the cashmeran contributing to the impression of sweet laundry detergent of some economy class European hotels I've stayed in. It is a pleasant and "clean" association, although more "industrial" than "homely". In Just Different the same note is presented in its lighter form and in Eros it is lacking altogether. For that reason I'd say Eau Electrique is denser than both Eros and Just Different. That means it's a bit more interesting, but by the same token, a bit less fresh, although still a crowdpleaser type.

I can't lie the electrique part really does shock you nicely, I really like that aspect of this fragrance, that it has that shock factor like CK Shock (although they are not similar). The Tonka and geranium are really nice and not too strong which means you can wear this in the summer and feel fresh and sweet. Unfortunately, the performance is absolutely horrendous, 3 hours for a Tonka fragrance. What is wrong with YSL. None of their fragrances last anymore. Stand-alone this is a nice fragrance honestly but considering the high price and its terrible performance means this should be forgotten. The worst flanker of the YSL line but not a bad fragrance by itself. For me: 5/10

Glad I sampled this before buying. To me it has a really nice opening but quickly turns into a boring kinda soapy bubblegum powdery scent. I was hoping for more of a spring summer scent but it's more of a fall winter. Don't get any of the original la nuit. It resembles to me jpg essence de parfum & Eros but be better off with them than Electrique. It's nothing electric different or interesting. If you want a nice powdery spring summer scent go with my favorite at the moment Dior homme Eau. Girlfriend loves Dior homme eau but she didn't like electrique that much. Will have to test this out more & in the heat but for now a pass for me.

I'm always keen to check out YSL's latest and greatest invention and this flanker did not disappoint me. I love the designer house's fresh take on a powdery and sweet fragrance, making it acceptable to wear in cooler weather, particularly during the day. It is a great lingering scent and it's dry down is very pleasing and inoffensive. I'm a big fan of this one and I am very impressed in it's performance on my skin and the compliments it gives me. Such a shame that people seem to turn their hands on this fragrance, considering it's impressive blend. (Perhaps YSL shouldn't have placed it next to it's iconic older brother, LNDH)

Yves Saint Laurent La Nuit de L'Homme Eau Électrique is a very sensual and moderately mature sweet and spicy blue fragrance. I would say this fragrance is in the same wheelhouse of Versace Eros, Eros Flame, and Dunhill Icon Racing. Although, YSL has a much more subtle and spicy take on the genre. Green apple, lavender, unknown spices, tonka bean, and a pinch of vanilla are notes I'm able to pick out. The only time I've ever had anyone smell this on me is when I'm in the car with them within an hour of spraying. So it sits very close to the skin. Great for a date night.

Another flanker from the L’homme series. I like it, I don’t love it. It’s probbaly my least favorite of all the flankers(that I’ve tried) it’s herbal, does have some of the original L’homme DNA. I could see where people say this resembles Eros(of which I barely wear as well) it’s good but it’s just simply not great like La Nuit de L’homme or even the original. Is it blind buy worthy? If you like any of the L’Homme series then sure. If not then maybe smell it first. It’s likeable but it’s not for everyone.

I kind of love it when a bunch of people troll "dislike" a fragrance, because it gives me the false impression that my blind buy will be a bad one...But then I get it, and lo and behold it turns out to be really good! Do not be turned away by the dislikes on this one. Its basically like the orginal La Nuit de L'homme with a little versace eros added to it. People hating on this are hating on it because they had different expectations. Is this the best flanker of all time? No, but it is certainly not bad.

As many others have said, Eau Electrique is essentially the grown-up version of Versace Eros. It has the mass appeal DNA, while also being smooth enough to be used in various settings beyond the club. I have only worn this fragrance once so far and received two unsolicited compliments. My bottle is from 2016, and the performance is excellent. I highly recommend it if you're looking for an easy-to-wear fragrance suitable for winter, not overly youthful, that can be worn during the day or at night.

I get lots of Tonka, vanilla, and apple. I'm surprised more people don't like this. It's not a "love" fragrance, but it's likeable to the masses, smells good, and pulls compliments. That's good enough for a "like" rating from me. It lasts about 4-5 hours on me with soft projection. It doesn't smell like Eros to me, but I do think it goes in the same direction with similar notes. Maybe you could describe it as a "creamy" Eros.
