Opium Fraicheur d'Orient

I own a 10 ml decant as I know someone who owns a partial bottle. --- This is a strange one. This is not Opium and yet it is Opium. At first spray, for me, it smells like old oranges and ginger and resin and strongly suntan lotion (the oily ones, not the coconut-y ones). Very different from Opium and somewhat effervescent as others have said. Then it dries out and I can start to see that it is indeed a flanker of Opium. Soft and not as heady or sensual or warm, just lighter and fun. The dry-out is a warm sweet spicy orange with musk and resins. Indeed, it has medium staying power (maybe 3 hours?) and does not project much, which must be because of the non-alcoholic formulation. But it is a happy scent and I can enjoy it :D Update: it actually lasts more than 3 hours, it just becomes a skin scent then. At this last phase it's more incense-y, airy and smoky and almost abstract but vaguely sweet. This phase is yummy and calming :) I find this one very easily office-safe. Smells like a good, classy suntan or cosmetic. --- I wouldn't go out of my way to buy it (I LOVE the heady deliciously sexy original Opium) but if cheap I would gladly wear it.

refreshingly sweet pop like yet heavy scented... i just don't have the right words to express how beautiful the scent is.

stumbled across this treasure when on holiday last week. I was supposed to be on a quest for samples. When I saw the wrapped box of Opium Fraicheur d'Orient, I recalled a version of Opium - Fleur de Shanghai - that I picked up years ago, also when on holiday. I loved it as it was a little lighter than the original Opium. I hoped maybe this would be similar. No tester available to try so this really was a blind buy. When I got my purchase back to the B & B we were staying at, I opened up the box and sprayed my purchase with abandon. Simply heaven. There is a brief twang of orange but it soon dissipates. Then there is a very slow mellow burn of jasmine, carnation, with a gentle flicker of musk, tonka and resins. Very much a skin scent for me but it lasts and really holds onto textiles and hair. The spouse can smell this perfume, which is unusual because it is so gentle. Two days later, I went back to the charming store to purchase the only other bottle of Opium Fraicheur d'Orient. My logic being that I would probably never find it again.

Smells like incense + soda. Gives me that 1.001 Nights feeling. But the staying power is almost inexistent.
