Sleek Suede

Okay so this is nothing short of fantastic! I'm pretty sure this one didn't exist in the old style bottles, or I'd have tried it for sure. Anyway I have now and the opening is sumptuous as hell, a chocolate accord which feels rounded and deeper than a poof of cacao. It's warm, sort of musky, sweet and creamy but not too much so and has a bitterness delivered by the finest dark chocolate. What is apparent is a kind of coffee note too, in fact I'd say the sense of coffee liqueur is there from the get go. Could even be tonka in here too? I've no doubt that patchouli is adding to both the effect of chocolate and a natural smooth earthiness, with a peppery, smoke from what can only be described as an incense accord. Then the base is woody as anything and this 'Oud noir' that is mentioned on the little card I also sprayed and put in my pocket, is responsible for this opulent, leathery, spiced wood smell. I don't know the origin of the 'oud' and frankly I don't care, Sleek suede is a knockout regardless. The best part about this fragrance is that it's not a gourmand in the sense of it existing to emulate food or just be a 'smell' of the sake of it. Sleek suede feels like perfume, rather than an attempt to have a 'foodie' one in the line. I love Indy perfumers don't get me wrong, and much of the time have a bias towards them for the creativity and lack of regard for the so called 'rules'. However, some perfumes have that, 'I trained in Grasse' sort of feel, a kind of untouchable, jus ne sais que. The sort of subtlety that makes you marvel at it. Sleek suede is one of those, sadly it's quite pricey or I'd want a bottle and I'd prioritise it too. I wasn't looking for a gourmand but this one found me in the middle of summer, I love it!

Finally got a full bottle of it and oh. My. Goodness. 😳😳😳😳😳😍😍😍 This and Magnificent Gold are just Chef’s Kiss! They sort of mirror each other (scent wise) I think. After tracking Sleek Suede for years, I found it and it was worth every penny 🖤🖤🖤 Beautiful, dark, sexy and bold. The patchouli here is not dirty or earthy, it goes well with the powdery cocoa note, which is a dark cocoa, as in Dutch cocoa powder with NO sugar. The woods in here are very present but do not outshine the cocoa powder. I love that the leathery note in here is actually quite minimal (at least, to my nose). I struggle with heavy leather notes but here, it’s quite subtle, like a whisper of it. To my nose, there is also a whispery boozy note (very subtle too) that gives this fragrance its darker side. This is magical to my nose and so sophisticated. I am head over heels for it because it’s so beautifully blended in both complexity and craftsmanship. A beauty I will always keep in my collection ✨✨✨

Wow what a surprise, this is completely different to anything I've ever smelt, initially I get heavy cacao, not the sweet kind but very dry and peppery so it starts quite masculine, the dry down is beautifully smooth with a nutella/vanilla vibe not like angel muse sexy Nutella, more like a classy expensive chocolate. I blind bought this because the price was unbeatable instead of £245 it was £75 but I would've paid full price for this beauty Edit: Jesus, it gets even better in warmer weather I never thought that could be possible since its a very deep, sweet and smooky I am absolutely in love with this perfume Edit II: Absolutely addicted to this fragrance regardless of the weather and the occasion.. out of my big perfume collection this is definitely on my top 3 and at this moment a n'1 Sleek Suede took the crown from Portrait of a Lady 😁

I have managed to grab a full bottle of 125ml, and it indeed is spectacular. The raw cacao pod is a dream, at least on my skin (which turns everything into a cocoa dust). It is not sugary but it is gourmand, it is not powdery but it is delicate like a perfect soufflé, not greasy but full of rich cocoa. It is hard to describe a perfume that smells so good you’d rather taste it, without smelling gourmand. No similarity with Nutella, but only to an untrained nose. No vanilla either, not even the slightest, no indolics whatsoever. Indeed, there’s labdanum, it is enveloping all the potion of cloves, tobacco and nutmeg it its velvety suede texture. On a less happy note, at least for my nose, for the first 30 mins the oud / patchouli combo is too in my face. But I read it goes well in the summer so I’ll wait for next season to splurge.

Nutella. On a wooden spoon. After a night out. Nutella ...if you hand-ground the cacao nibs on raw slate. If you shelled the hazelnuts by hand & kept their bitter, nutty, woody essence intact. If you kept it diet-friendly & low cal with minimum sugar content. Nutella... whilst drinking some smooth & boozy rum at a patchouli-fuelled outdoorsy party. Earth & wood & just the tiniest touch of smoke. A little bit Neonatura (dusty cocoa patch) a little bit C’est la Fête Patchouli (Labdanum amber patch dry down) ...a little bit something I can’t quite put my finger on ...perhaps Deep Red Hugo Boss with a little One Million for men? Lovely fragrance. Easy wear. For lovers of cocoa, patchouli & dry “diet” scents.

Just like a chocolate milkshake only crunchy!.. OK maybe not, but man this smells amazing, it's chocolate or technically cacao but picture dark chocolate without the bitterness. I do wish it was a touch sweeter but I'm thankful I don't get much leather and no animal notes which would have me running for the hills Now, do I want to smell like this? I'm not sure, it's tough to say, I think in cold weather it would be an easier decision but in warm weather probably not, although I do love the smell in general and am very tempted to buy a bottle

I had for years And I have used it much Maybe couple of times I did not understand it well first time I tried it Few years I bought just to complete my YSL collection Last 3 days I have been testing and enjoying this so much On my skin it last I apply it after sun set and till next day afternoon after showering I was still able to detect it on my neck . It is choclaty sexy but there is more to it than just choclate Any lady smells like this worth more than second chance

All I could say is YUM!!!! I just started getting into Gourmand scents and I do own a few so when I first smelt this fragrance I fell in love! I’m surprised that it is not a sweet fragrance and I think that’s why it is a wearable scent. When I layered this with Jo Malone Honey & Crocus it elevated the unsweetened cacao and almond notes to a delicious deep creamy scent. More of a cold weather, evening perfume as it smells like a warm hug. Highly recommended!

Deniz99 you either trolling or trying to gatekeep. This is a holy grail unique scent that went to the grave all too soon. It’s a super sexy cozy blanket of Dry Cocoa, oud/cedar, incense and sweet patchoui. Absolute masterpiece. Ive not come across anyone that dislikes off me, saying that it turned to piss on my GF so maybe it’s just unlucky on your skin too.

If you love this perfume I’ve got good news! I found a dupe that smells super close — it’s called Mystique Myrrhe by Wilton London. I love it ..it’s on the same vibe — I really like it a lot, and it gave me that same cozy, elegant feeling I get from Sleek Suede. Definitely worth checking out— just like Sleek Suede. Totally impressed and happy with it!

Gorgeous. Like a slightly less sweet Magnificent Gold with a warm, dry and beautifully textured tan suede dusted with cocoa and light spices (allspice type). Just gorgeous. Perfectly unisex to my nose. Now if only I could upgrade my small decant to a full bottle😍

I smelled three fragrances from YSL premium collection today. Exquisite Embroidery, Sleek Suede and Magnificent Gold. Dleek Suede is my second favourite after Magnificent Gold. The opening smells a lot like chocolate and hazelnut spread literally. Really gourmandish, delicious and seductive. It definitely has a wow factor in that sense. Quite complex after top, gets somewhat leathery and woody in the mid. For some reason the mid reminded me of damp leather and some musty odour and I wasn't sure if I liked it or not. Only because of some musty nuances It becomes bit animalic there. In base it is again some leather a bit of cocao but quite subtle at this stage. Very unique fragrance, never smelled anything like this before. Definitely a thumbs up for me. I will hunt for some bargain purchase. Overall I give it good 8 out of 10.

FINALLY got to try it! I was surprised because it's a lot dryer than I expected, which is true to its name—a cool & collected slightly masculine leathery cacao—I don't know why I was expecting rich chocolate liqueur with resinous oud, which would be a lot more indulging but not so sleek. The most prominent note in the opening is chocolate powder, then together with patchouli and other woodsy notes transforms into unsweetened cacao; to me nutmeg & incense are also very prominent.

opening DELICIOUS NUTELLA so good !! transitions into a spicy dusty woody scent the cacao giving it the dustyness. amazing in cold weather preferably the fall is perfect for this scent. this is a guy with authority this guy get's respect! like some type of bussinessman. not a scent for young guys i would say 25/30 at the youngest. very good!

rather pleasant... BUT not something I have not smelled or owned before. I'll stick to Pierre G's Coze for a chocolate&patchouli fix.

Opening: Blast of real cardamom spice with a buttery rum note. Followed by white vanilla absolute, then a realistic delicious chocolate note comes into play immediately, a touch of fresh piped tobacco, then the notes of cloves & nutmeg, cedar and the earthiness of 'dirty' potted-soil Patchouli. This fragrance punched me in the face on first sniff, it has a personality, and is fantastic! Imo ruined by the dirty wet dirt note of the patchouli, a touch of incense to darken up the dna, a cheap dry dusty wood note, black pepper that hits the back of the nose, cloves, there is a note of sweetness in here but im not sure what note it's coming from but it might be from the Nutmeg, brown musk that's fuzzy to the nose, the faintest touch of creaminess possibly from Labdanum, and a note of Nuts maybe toasted Hazelnuts, there may or may note be a note of Suede in here and if there is it's a small supporting role note. Great frag but dominated by the main note of dirty patchouli. Sit's close to the skin as many of these YSL frags do. Didn't really detect much Oud in here, if there is it's the smallest drop in batch to darken up the frag and giving it another small layer. I liked the opening, HATE the dry-down, it's absolutely awful! Had to wash it off my hands on the 2nd hour. This was a half-baked desert that needed more time in the lab's oven...lol 2/5 Woofs

I tried this one on skin yesterday the opening is chocolate galore but then it was woody as hell, couldn't handle the dry down ...

SMELLS SOOOO BAD A TERRIBLE HEAVY WOOD SMELL

I had vowed not to try any samples durng the covid 19 lockdown but I'm afraid I failed when a good friend offered a decant of Sleek Suede by Yves Saint Laurent. This is a quality scent there's no doubt about that, but it does smell rather feminine to me. It's sweet but not too sweet and I have found it hard to dissect notes like tobacco but it certainly feels woody and deep in the base. I agree there is a similarity to coffee and I'm not sure how I feel about that in a fragrance but I'm branching and always open to new things. Surely the hardest part of sampling at the moment is not being able to wear a fragrance outside and in 'the real world' so I will look forward to trying this again in the future. Stay safe everyone.

Well, l am a woman who likes oriental scents with a masculine twist. On me this starts up very masculine, and slowly develops into a very delicious and addictive chocolate/tobacco gourmand scent. l can smell woods and incense. lt is very addictive. Longevity is A-mazing! However, unfortunately, sillage is nada! l can still smell it on my clothes and even necklaces days later, but only if l bury my nose in them. So sad...

Ok so initial spray is really good dark chocolate with a touch of smokey incense. The thing is, and I think this is coming from the oud, but after a few min i get a stale corn chip/old musty couch vibe, subtly tucked under the great smooth oud and dusty cacao. Not always noticeable, but when it's noticeable it ruins it for me 5/10 7.5/10 without the gross note peeking out

This is really nice. Definitely one for gourmand lovers. To my nose the first thing it smelt like was a combination of turkish leather by pryn parfums and by the fireplace by maison margiela (from all the fragrances i've smelt to date) two fragrances which i love, particularly the latter. On my skin i got pretty good longevity.

Very beautiful fragrance. Starts with dark chocolate and slowly transforms into a beautiful concoction of oud and chocolate. You might think these two accords or notes won't work with each other but they do work and rather beautifully. Also has very good longevity.

Yep. The Nutella references are justified. This one smells like Nutella and Cocoa Puffs. Later on you get some dusty woods. Didn’t stick around for a later dry down. This was unwearable for me.

This fragrance amazed me when I tried it on a paper strip today. Very chocolatey, but not in a way I had smelled in a perfume before.

Got a full bottle of this in UK if someone interested. My back up bottle, keeping the smaller one. Nice for all year around.

Such a unique and beautiful fragrance. Also very hard to find, I have a 75ml around 90% full up for sell in eBay.

This smells like a far smoother, less screechy, in your face version of Mancera Red Tobacco. Very nice indeed.
