Splendid Wood (Le Vestiaire des Parfums)

This fragrance is magic. It is so intoxicating. I wore it recently to a dinner with friends and when my friend greeted me, she said "wow, you smell ....." and she had an amazing expression on her face with a big smile. And at this time the other friend commented that I smell like million dollars. I got a bit embarassed though to have so much attention from people because of my fragrance but it was a pleasant feeling :)) No matter what others say, I love this perfume and I am happy to own it. On me the cardamom, cedar and oud are prominent. Cardamom gives it a kind of sweet vibe but it is not candy sweet. very well done, and very refined. Oud is tamed masterfully. I get very good longevity and sillage.

Very successful blind buy that immediately became one of my favorites in my collection. Very smooth oud and woody notes that are balanced with exquisite cardamom and rose. Unisex that leans slightly masculine, although any gender could pull this off. I get moderate longevity and sillage. Perfect for date nights, dinners, or formal occasions. Sadly, it seems YSL is discontinuing this. It's getting very hard to find and I recently picked it up for 50% off before it vanished from the shelves. A hidden gem that is definitely on par with Tuxedo and other home runs from the house. Will use my bottle sparingly.

It is very odd to reduce this perfume to only 7 ingredients. It is one of the best wood fragrances of the market, unfortunately it is also off the market. Discontinued. I cannot understand why gems like this are not forever. I cannot define it, maybe because I love it so much. I do not sense the oud here, or maybe it is a young oud. It has an indefinite quality, it smells of freshly stripped bark rather than wood - although it is not a fresh perfume. It smells of a sunny oak forest in late spring, early summer, leaves still young, twigs tender. It is indeed splendid.

OMG this is perfect. It is so delicate but also confident, one hundred per cent chic adult. I feel more the spicy cedar, cardamome the smokiness of the insence and florals. The oud is definitely there but it is not the main not (for me). It gives is a mistery and sexy vibe along with gentleness and certain. Perfect.

One of the best scents of its kind. Smells like golden-sweet luxury leather. Oud smells different to me: in some scents it is oud as wood, in others as leather and here it is leather. I smell no rose nor jasmine. I also like the longevity, it lasts. It's good on both hand and shirt.

This is a really well blended DNA where it's actually a challenge to pick out individual notes. One note that stands out is a nice smokey Incense, green spice probably from Cardamom, some kind of oil from the pine family that gives it that pine aromatic note added perfectly balanced, Rose, Cedar oil that gives it some woody peppery note, and something dark in here but not too much, the pyramid says there is Oud in here, if there is it's lightly added and tame as a supporting balanced note, there might even be Ambers added that surface in the mid-end dryoff. I mean, from what i can tell by my nose the Note Pyramid seems pretty spot on! This is a really beautiful feminine leaning fragrance on the opening, but then leans woody mescaline on the dryoff, making it 100% unisex. This sits close to the skin, doesn't project that much like most YSL frags. Perfect for fall season. I think this is being discontinued because i can't seem to find it on a YSL website, but still available in some select retail stores. I like it, id wear it even as a straight man. If you are a YSL junkie this is a must-have. It's really nice, im a HUGE fan of YSL's private line, they seriously need to make it more accessible to the pubic by having it within more retail stores! YSL's best frags = GORGEOUS ELEGANCE!! Altho I'm not obsessed with this, i really like it, and the quality is so good. 3.5/5 Woofs!

Splendid Wood (Le Vestiaire des Parfums) Yves Saint Laurent (Store test) Splendid Wood from Le Vestiaire des Parfums Oriental is Spicy Woody-Oud-Rose fragrance. The instant impression that this is neat blend, clean and prolite. This build around transparent amber material and decorate with Lite wood (sandalwood) & beautiful rose. The texture of woody quite similar to Santal Pao Rosa, however, Airier. Polite and Gentle, the sweet syrup rose swine through the fragrance in lite manner. Soft boozy wood. The way spicy build recall Penheligon's sohan. The actual outcome, really similar to Noctambule Givenchy. In the cleaner way, not as dirty or sexy. I believe people will feel confident wearing this. 8/10

A lovely wearable smoky Floriental. The perfume opens with notes of incense and cardamom. The firmly floral heart contains rose and jasmine. As the perfume dries, it reveals hints of Oud, cedar and cypriol. Inspired by YSLs travels to Morrocco, this unisex feminine leaning perfume has moderate to strong sillage and good longevity. A designer scent worth noticing. Nice but not exceptional. Enjoy!

No oud whatsoever is here, cypriol gives an oudy touch, the cardamom and cedar are dominating here, I feel a tea, mate like or soft smoky leathery nuance. Good fragrance leans masculine and it’s not really original but good choice for autumn and spring nights.

The most macho of the collection Le vestiare oriental. Try man!

The exclusive YSL line "Le Vestiaire des Parfums Collection Oriental" was inspired by Yves Saint Laurent's retreats in Morocco; and the fragrance Splendid Wood was inspired by the exotic wooden dresses and accessories of Yves Saint Laurent. The woody notes warm and stimulate the senses, while a fabulous cardamom of the best I've ever felt in perfumery and incense structure the perfume with a slightly smoky woody pattern, jasmine brings a classic balance hand in hand with the usual 'oud & rose' combo. The cipriol heats and blends with a woody, dry cedar gives more depth to the woody base. This composition enhances an arabesque brown color palette. Unisex fragrance with masculine inclination. Woody, spicy, aromatic, balsamic, smoky perfume.

Extraordinary perfume with a huge performance. If you like a dry rich smelling woody perfume, with a great quality, this one is for you. Don't worry about rose notes, they're almost inexistant. Announced also for women? Don't think so, it's too heavy to be worn by a lady. I'd wear it in a cold weather Double thumbs up

I get a rose-patchouli when I sniff my wrist with a strong cedar basis. The patchouli is not listed, I know. My general impression is milky woody which is too soft for me with not enough character. It’s not unpleasant either.

What ever molecules are making up the "incense", they are great. olibanum (frankincense),labdanum, elemi, styrax? hmmm With the rose, love this. It's not dark. I might try it on a mild summer day.

This has to be one of my favourite fragrances out there. Unfortunately it doesn't project or last long I can literally bath in this...
