I am a big massive Yves Saint Laurent fan from my early days as a child. I remember all his interviews on French TV and the glimps of his defiles in teh 80s with "chatoyantes colours" reminiscing of his past in french maghreb. When I started to smoke I even had the fantasy to buy YSL cigarettes (even though they tasted quite disgusting compared others). Over the yeasrs I have had a lot of fragrances from YSL. Kouros in its 80s glory (what a joy not to like), Jazz a bit later ad all the opium all the way to M7 and Y. So naturally when I came across this one I thought what not to like. So I forked the money and bought a bottle. When it arrived I really like the presentation box it came in and the very sober bottle with magnetic cap. The trouble started when I sprayed it at first. Instantly it reminded me of a fragrance back in the 80s which was very populat in summer days. I instantly loved this fragrance so much so that I had to buy a second one as I noticed that it was being discontinued. The vanilla is omnipresent. From start to dry down. It is sweet but not too sweet. Strong but not over powering. Not on your face. It is elegant and has a multitude of enjoyable layers as it dries down. It smells very nice on skin and seems to last forever on clothes. Even after a few days. At work I reveiced so many positive feedback that to of my colleague have bought a bottle. Verdict. A very pleasant and enjoyable fragrance. Very long lasting on clothes a bit less on skin. 8 out of 10 at least! Thank you once again YSL!

Before I bought this, I was skeptical because of its note profile. I don’t believe in vanillic scents until I met Tobacco Vanille. Then I came across this one and it read herbal. How could immortelle, a curry-ish, greenish and savory odor make-up vinyl? Straight up it blasts you with something peppery and with a somewhat leather undertone without the tannic smokiness. Then comes the herbal accord and the vanilla. It’s really well-done and it melds like it’s your second skin. I get wafts until the 4th hour but it’s not overwhelming. People can smell you and they would compliment you for this. Make no mistake, the notes might seem heavy but it’s the most demure sillage I’ve ever had. It’s not weak plus there’s a beautiful balsamic quality to it. Perhaps this is why it sticks to clothes effortlessly without smelling perfumey. When I visit Vinyle’s page on Fragrantica, I’ve read it being compared to how Guerlain makes artisanal vanilla fragrances and even though I haven’t smelled Spiriteuese Double Vanille, Iris Ganache or Angelique Noire, I believe this is on the same level.

This line reminds me of that Guerlain line where they all have the custard, vanilla base (double vanille, Tonka imperiale...etc) and this stuff is heavy in its vanilla element. However another thing it’s shares with the Guerlains is undeniable quality and excellence and a real feeling that it’s evoking something new. Vinyle truly is like nothing else I’ve ever tried and for that alone should be applauded. It’s a deeply, deeply resinous fragrance which has the smoothness of myrrh and vanilla but with an unknown and even slightly perplexing element which definitely evokes vinyl. Now I have to say records are the only thing I own more of than fragrances and both new or old I can’t say this smells like them. Perhaps a little but I get more of a sexy, vinyl catsuit vibe from it. Again I don’t know if this is imagined but some synthetic, plasticy element shoved in the mix with very organic resin and sweet creamy vanilla makes this fragrance complete. Perfect some might say...Well me anyway I kinda want this.

Oh. My. Goodness. Where to start? This is so beautiful and unexpectedly delicious. Why? Because on my skin, this pulls vanilla and oh my goodness, what a delightful vanilla!! Not the cheap sugary kind of vanilla, no. This is a vanilla for grown ups and it smells sophisticated and slightly naughty. A tinge spicy, a tinge fresh but mostly, it smells like the air in a boudoir. The curtains are heavy and shut the early morning light off. The room has just been left by its occupants and the lingering scents of naked skin, spice and smoke remain... Absolutely beautiful, mysterious and delightfully intriguing, I MUST get a full bottle of this love potion!! 🖤🔥🖤🔥 PS: I am searching for a full bottle of Vinyle. This is beautiful !!! yes it's a vanilla/resin fragrance but it's a masterpiece! I've never smelled a vanilla based fragrance like this sweet but not candy sweet, it's round well balanced with the resin and myrrh the florals are shy playing in the background i don't get the bergamot I get a tad of pepper 4 season all day in the colder months night in summer for me I will wear it whenever I feel like (formal,casual,date,home) but some would say it's more of a formal or date/event type of fragrance big love!!!! I own a full bottle of it and a full bottle of Velours. They are both well done I'm looking for CUIR if someone can make me a decant please pm me :)

Where do I begin? No words can do this beauty justice. None whatsoever!! It really is above and beyond everything that could be said and anything I have ever smelt before. It’s warm, sweet, sexy & playful. Naughty yet innocent at the same time. It will shine in public and will dazzle intimately in private. It’s a bewitching scent. ✨❤️ Myrrh and resins done just right without leaning over to the oriental side. My only problem is why on god’s green earth would YSL discontinue this beauty?! 😡

A masterpiece, pure and simple. Immortelle, vanilla (the YSL vanilla), spice but as a background note, resins and amber. It’s warm and soft but also incredibly sexy and sultry. I searched high and low for a full bottle and was very happy to have found one a few years back. This, to me, it is a winter (or cold temperatures) fragrance but I wear it when the mood strikes when I want to hide under a cozy blanket and the wind is howling outside...it’s perfection✨

I am a vinyl record fanatic and love nothing more than the smell of unpacking a freshly shrink wrapped record store bought new release. I used to buy them during my DJ days in the 90ies like others buy milk, bread and butter. I have long yearned for a scent to capture the essence of this and while this is way too sweet and feminine, it is actually reminiscent to the experience. I want a bottle now! "Wearable Plastic" = FANTASTIC! 7.5/10

this perfume is pure art - there's something so sensual, mysterious and intoxicating about this beautiful fragrance. luckily i found a bnib floating around in the ether for a bargain —this is an endgame fragrance for me. charming, poised and elegant, yet sexy, evocative and playfully demure. sophistication with an undertone of naughtiness, borderline carnal in nature. this is the grown up version of babycat, and is miles better.

Floral glue, animal grade sealant. 828 Elephant Kit adhereing the finest velvet to pedals and interior bars of a handmade fortepiano. The polished wood varnish under a hand painted wood with golden lacquer. Slightly slick in an emoillent way. The overall composition is rare essence of ivory trapsing through a harpsichord piece. High - pitched, wiggy, and subdued amber florals.

As a man I can't see myself wearing it in public. I'm not brave enough for that. It would be like going to the grocery store in a latex suit. On my skin, as a bonus, this scent acquires an extra quality and acquires a condom-scented undertone. However, I like the smell very much. Its so damn good. 10/10

What a pretty balsamic slightly herby Vanilla. I tried 2 from this vanille collection Velour which was a no for me and this one. It reminds me of Azalea by Bottega Veneta a lot. I like it a lot, just may be not enough for a full bottle yet.

YSL Vinyle definitely captures that dusty-vinyl-crate-in-a-thrift-shop smell. TF Tobacco Vanille-ish vanilla with a resinous, cardboard/plastic twist. Immortelle is there too. Where TV is boring & cloying, this is cuddly & alluring.

Hi anybody has 3 or 5 ml to swap please I relay want to try this. I was able to try it . I like it a lot if I find a full bottle i will buy it but it will be very hard.

This smell amazing why will they discontinue something like this. I had a change to try it got a few samples. I wish I can find a full bottle at a reasonable price.

I love this! It's really gorgeous! It's unique, and spicy warm, with a zest. The immortelle is to die for! It's a great perfume!

WHY IS THIS DISCONTINUED??? 😭😭😭 I badly want a bottle of this gorgeous fragrance. Will return to do a full review later.

This is a beautiful, eloquent, and artistic composition. Best YSL I’ve tried since Y Le Parfum.

top notes: starts very anise-like smell, basically it in starts with soft vanilla middle notes: now woody powdery, some anise, sweet like amber is here honestly its very unique, but not something id wear personally. For the prices this is going for currently.... not the hype. Id recommend staying away till prices calm down because its not all that. overall id give it an 8.5/10.
