This is Her! Burning Love

I've never ordered a perfume so quickly. As soon as it popped on Fragrantica, I was frantically searching the web to source a bottle. And it arrived today. I kind of was expecting something super sweet like a distant cousin of Yum Pistachio Gelato or something. Instead, Burning love is bready, nutty and woody, only very slightly sweet. A serious, grown up gourmand fragrance that's not cloying or overpowering. I feel it'll definitely not appeal to everyone but will definitely be a nose-turner. It doesn't seem to have a great protection or sillage though, my husband who's on the other side of the sofa said he can't smell a thing - I sprayed myself like 5 times. I'll leave it to rest for a couple of weeks to mature, perhaps it'll improve.

I really liked it. I don't smell the pistachio but definitely the chestnut and sandalwood and creaminess. It's less milky/creamy than this is her! It stayed for days on a test paper and around half a day on my skin. When you first spray it's very strong for first 30 min, strong nutty/woody, but then it gets softer and I really loved the dry down. Gave me a warm, clean feeling that is woody/nutty, not so sweet but smells like roasted chestnuts and sandalwood, and I kept smelling it. I wouldn't call it gourmand, sweet, nor fruity. Very different than this is her! but also you can feel the resemblance. Also smells relatively different on skin than on paper.

The opening is, to me, the best part: i smell the pistachio very well and it reminds me quite a bit about “Paris Corner Khair Pistachio” or “Lattafa Affection”... that kind of scent profile. After about 20-30 minutes the initial pistachio starts to fade and progressively disappear while chestnut and sandalwood become more prominent until the point they are pretty much all i can smell and, in that phase, it’s very close to the original “This is Her”, but much lighter and much less projecting. It projects pretty well for the first hour, then it’s a skin scent until it completely dies not so many hours later. . 🫧🫧🫧

I would say this is a clean fruity scent. Kinda woody, cozy, warm. The sandalwood comes out more once it sits on the skin for a longer time. There is also a kinda almost soapy note. It is something that I didn't have in my collection yet and I will keep trying it out some more. The bottles of these special editions are so beautiful (I also got the "This is him!" and it also did not disappoint one bit)

Dry down smells like plain dry cheerios

Smells straight up weird lip balm/ lipstick. Pass

Who signed off on this? The first spray is an alcoholic, acrid, burnt mess, which was met with immediate revulsion and regret. Then comes in a wheaty, yeasty bread stage, which is less like sweet biscuits and more like stale Ryvita. It then settles down into a nutty pistachio bran. It disappeared on me within 90 mins. The mild drydown was not worth the disgust of the opening. This is not related to the This Is Her original, which I love so much. I don’t often rate perfumes as ‘hate’, but here we are. I don’t know where the name Burning Love came from, but it did smell like burnt hair to open so someone give the marketing team a raise. You can’t win them all and some people below seem to like it. Guess that's fragrance democracy.

This made me laugh. It's like a first-semester perfumery school project. A peach-rose bottle with Burning Love written in a quasi–metal band font, filled with a sweet beer liquid. Each part is on a different theme. The opening is an assault of alcohol, reminds me of those €13 drugstore "perfumes" that are mostly just alcohol (this is how you know the fragrance was cheap to make). If you enjoy smelling like sweet warm beer that has gone bad a little, paired with a nutty liquor, then this is perfect. The drydown is a generic gourmand with nothing interesting. It gives me Kayali vibes - fragrances that rely on branding, but bring nothing. Skip this, and Jesus Lord, stop the endless terrible gourmands. I weep as I read how everyone is excited for their pre-ordered Boujee Kitty Caramel Milk BS - are you even serious with this launch? I don't even need to sample it to know that will be an absolute atrocity (but I will, so I can say I was right).

This one sounds beautiful how do I find it? Located in the states 😭😭😭. Update I found a seller on EBay who is a trusted seller. I can’t wait to get my nose on this. Will update with my thoughts soon.

This smells like old beer I hate it. Like when you go out to a party and somebody spills beer on your shirt and you smell the shirt later. So basically perfume mixed with old beer.

This is really pleasant. Not what I would call burning love though. More like a soft, fluffy blanket. It’s sweet, powdery and a bit wheaty. It’s really nice and calming.

when pistachio liquer goes away, I can smell chestnut and sandalwood. But smells like fresh a bit minty, woody, no spicy
