Basileus Precious Treasure

I was fortunate to acquire this piece through a FB group reseller at an incredible bargain - half the retail price and it arrived nestled in a stunning, handcrafted wooden chest adorned with mother-of-pearl, a true treasure in itself. Basileus Precious Treasure (BPT) belongs to an entirely different realm of olfactory artistry. To some, it may seem like an overly aromatic fougère or even solicit thoughts of insect repellent, but for me, it carries profound sentimental and spiritual significance, an essence steeped in cultural meaning and reverence. Listening to George’s explanation and watching the short film detailing the journey behind sourcing these rare accords raises this creation beyond perfumery, it feels like a pilgrimage captured in scent. Once sprayed, the fragrance becomes ethereal, almost elusive. You might think it has faded but trust me, it lingers like a whispered prayer in the air. Notes spiral and dance among the particles, revealing themselves in fleeting moments, impossible to fully describe yet deeply felt. The 125ml BPT bottle rests in my private olfactory sanctuary, a timeless masterpiece reserved for sacred occasions. This is not just perfume - it is a vessel of memory, meaning and magnificence. Kudos to George, the team and the Skeleton Coast tribes that assisted in sourcing the ingredients.

I think maybe 10 people have smelled the original Zaharoff Pour Homme, and I was one of the 10. So, this is a re-creation of Zaharoff Pour Homme, but it's definitely unisex. Zaharoff Pour Homme may be the best fragrance Claude Dir has created. I would say out of the current collection, I'd rank Precious Treasures as the best fragrance in the Zaharoff line up and Royale X as the second best. Precious Treasures is calming and is at the highest end of niche smelling perfumery. I do believe Zaharoff should release a smaller bottle with a standard Zaharoff box, as I think more people should really get to smell this. If you're into high end niche, a sample is worth purchasing just so you can understand fully what I'm typing.

A limited run in a certain presentation, only 500 were made, but the fragrance itself is still available in a different package, which is still great! The smell is unlike any other I've smelled, and I have over two hundred frags, with 19 from Zaharoff. What I do love about it most is that, in your most intimate moments, this builds and smells so much better. Love it.

I love the way this smells. And I'm in love with the presentation. There must be a note in this that's barely detectable by some noses, but overwhelming to others. Sometimes I spray 5 or 6 sprays of this, and people say they can barely smell anything. Other times I'll put on 3 sprays, and different people will say it's overwhelming!

This is quite literally perfection. Hefty price to pay, but man, this is stunning.

I'm not really sure what to make of this scent. It's unique but it's missing a certain "it" factor that would make this a standout (at least in my collection). Not bad but it's just there. I have 2 gripes not to do with the scent itself. 1. It comes in a box where the face spins around to reveal the bottle. Problem was that my bottle shifted around in shipping and the box couldn't opened. It was a silly moment where concept met reality and they didn't jive. 2. The sprayers on these bottles aren't sprayers, they are squirters. They shoot a jet of liquid rather than anything that could be considered a spray.This might seem like nothing but at these price points I expect a little more. It's all style with no substance. Update: I can't really smell it when I'm wearing it but everyone around me says it's really strong.

I can barely smell anything. It’s like very very soft powder with the faintest, almost imperceptible whiff of cedar. If I didn’t know better, I’d think this was ISO E Super. What am I missing?

It evokes an emperor in his private sanctum, a rare moment of serenity before war calls him once more. The perfume speaks in whispers of incense and herbs, of cool marble bathed in sacred oils, of a world lost to time but lingering in legend. The opening unfurls with a verdant sharpness, a blend of aromatic herbs and fresh spice. Cardamom lends its green fire, edged with the dry bite of Nepalese and Sichuan peppers. There is an aquatic nuance here, a fleeting impression of warm bathwater infused with crushed angelica leaves—a vision of the emperor, submerged in the sanctity of his private thermae. The air hums with the distant scent of a spice bazaar, just beyond the bathhouse walls. The heart of Basileus is Byzantine to its core. Frankincense rises like a spectral hymn from the Hagia Sophia, redolent of imperial Tyrian purple robes freshly anointed. There is a fleeting echo of cedarwood, a structure within the scent much like the imperial architecture itself—grand, yet softened by time and reverence. The resinous depth of Bushman’s candle mingles with star jasmine and wild freesia, delicate florals that recall the embroidered robes awaiting the emperor’s return. The scent is clean, weightless, yet haunting—like the last light filtering through an ancient dome. As the fragrance settles, it takes on the solemn grace of a fading empire. Oakmoss and ebony provide a shadowed contrast, grounding the scent in the cool stone of palatial halls. Bourbon vanilla and tonka bean offer a subtle sweetness, a final whisper of warmth before the perfume vanishes, like a sovereign fading into legend. The resins linger, softened by sandalwood—an afterimage of incense clinging to marble. To summarise, Basileus Precious Treasure is an evocative masterpiece, a tribute to history in scent. Yet, its beauty is fleeting. The performance sadly disappoints on my skin (although I heard it lasts for days on some people) —the projection is minimal, and the longevity barely stretches beyond 2 hours. For a fragrance of such splendour, its ephemeral nature is a tragedy. At the price point of €270, one expects a scent that projects, reigning as imperiously as its inspiration. And yet, like the glory of Byzantium, it fades too soon.

I must be nose blind to something in thi because I get vibes of Another 13. Almost like a skin scent. I have a sample, not a bottle, so maybe it just needs to relax for a bit and open up.
