Business Over Pleasure

This is my very first try of Business Over Pleasure by TLTG Reviews x Zaharoff, one of the recent releases of the Zed Creators collaboration with Zaharoff. Business Over Pleasure overtly has some of the DNA of the original Zaharoff Signature’s fresh/sweet/spicy mix, but blended with a bit a fresh floral almost cocktail-like side to it. It’s a little fresher, smoother, and less sharp than the original Signature while being comparably sweet, and it strikes me instantly as a more warm-weather-friendly variation to enjoy, for example, in the current hot summer than many of us in the US are experiencing. Looking at the note breakdown between BOP and Signature, there are common notes of iris, patchouli, amber, and ginger—not a ton of overlap—with some of the key substitutions (in my vague estimation) being that the lavender being removed from the original represents a movement toward a less sharp opening. The sweet elements are similar but BOP is a little less creamy than Signature as it dries down. Both have a strong floral heart, though, with a delicate use of iris, not too heavy-handed. As Ross Carlos describes in his YouTube video focusing on the fragrance, some of the touches are quite subtle (he notes the guaiac wood and palo santo in the base), and I’d throw the iris in the bit, as its inclusion does not lead to a buttery or powdery result but rather a bright white floral element that stands out while not overshadowing the spices (ginger, pepper, coriander) or woody/sweet/resinous dry down component. Business Over Pleasure is priced at $119 for 60ml in EDP concentration, and seems to perform quite well, perhaps not quite as well as Signature or Signature Noir or The Siren, but comparably enough, especially considering its slightly fresher character. In conclusion, I have to step back and figure that my reaction to BOP would be the same as when I tried Zaharoff Signature itself for the first time last year, even though I’m noting some of the shared DNA and comparing the two. BOP is instantly innovative yet practical, and I want to wear it more and more. In the vein of Signature, it feels like highly-interesting take on a modern men’s signature scent but it’s not stereotypically masculine per se, and I expect that anyone could enjoy this. 8 out of 10

Scent is truly amazing, I really think so. Where this lacks, as you can conclude from other reviews, there isn't much pop from this fragrance. So, initially when I sprayed this and smelled it for the first time I was not immediately reminded of something, which is good! The smell is silky smooth and uplifting. Definitely falls into the "blue" category which is what Ross loves. I hate to, but I have to knock the projection. One of the weaker projecting fragrances I own. If you are timid about fragrances and don't want to offend anyone and wear a fragrance for your nose only then this is a perfect option. I did spray this on someone else and had them walk by after about 10 minutes, the sillage was there but I had to search for it. What I did find really did smell amazing and that's what kills me. If this fragrance was stronger and had better performance, this would be a very sought after fragrance bc it smells that good. I really hope there could be a reformulation to up the performance and I would buy it in a hearbeat. Overall, well done, Ross! Awesome fragrance for your first time! You really do have a great sense of notes and nailed it on your first try. Hope to see more in the future! Edit 12 hours later: About hour 10 the scent was gone from my arm. Up until that time I continuously smelled my arm and concluded this is one of the best smelling fragrances I own. It smells that good. The projection though, it's not great and that really saddens me bc of how good this smells. Still, a fantastic fragrance that deserves a spot in everyone's collection. This could be a top 5 fragrance for me if the projection issue was corrected, even just a little bit that's all I ask for.

I’m shocked that people would down rate this fragrance before it’s release. I guess I just don’t understand that kind of thing. I found this fragrance to be very nice. Does it jump of the skin? Not really, not a huge projection beast, but the longevity is there on me. I woke up with it on. So for me it lasted 9-10 hours. Became a skin scent around 7 hours in. It does what I assume it’s meant to do based on the name. It’s not supposed to fill a room so it can be worn in business settings. I’ve worn it twice, and I grew to like it more the 2nd time around. The blend is very very nice, with a touch of spice from the pepper and ginger. The iris and lemon verbena give it a brightness, with the cashmere wood, amber, Tonka bean smoothing it out. It’s very well blended so it’s hard to pick out individual notes. The pepper seems to carry through the life of the fragrance, which I enjoy. This fragrance takes on many transitions, and takes you on a true journey. I can only imagine that the low ratings are based on some kind of dislike of this content creator? This is not a 2.90 fragrance. I’d say it’s somewhere in the 4’s. For me it’s around a 4.25 maybe 4.30.

I ordered all of the Zed Creators fragrances. Got them in today and wore Business Over Pleasure to work. This one has a very nice iris in it that mixes well with white floral. The guaiac wood gives a very nice smoky nuance to the fragrance. I think this makes the iris much more wearable to more people even if they’re not fans of iris. This could easily be a signature scent, any season any occasion type of fragrance. The performance I got was very solid. The projection was good, but not overpowering. The projection lasted a couple of hours. Once I hit the 7 hour mark I did choose to refresh to get it projecting again, but the fragrance was still going even at the 7 hour mark. It also was complimented by coworkers. My final thoughts are that this is a versatile, sophisticated style of fragrance. A niche take on iris with such a nice smoky nuance. Performance is very good. The presentation was up to the Zaharoff standards. For 120 USD I feel like this fragrance is a very good deal! Got a sample from my order with the Siren. It smelled so good I went ahead and ordered a bottle. Upon first spray you get the pepper and bergamot and slight lily of the valley. As it drys down that iris, white florals and tonka bean begin to come out and eventually settles to a woody, fresh, sexy iris scent that is addiciting. I kept smelling myself every few minutes because it was that good and when you catch it in the wind it smells divine. The only negative thing I'll say is that projection is not the strongest, however I only had 2ml sample which was about 10 sprays and I am a 15+ oversprayer. So I am 100% sure if I had 5ml I would have been set. That being said Ross did an AMAZING job creating this and I cannot wait for my bottle. This fragrance is best for any occasion and smells outstanding, IMO this deserves an impressive 10 out of 10

This is a great fragrance. It's not some mind blowing, out of this world, beast mode, magic potion. But it is great. From opening to dry down, it's great. I do prefer the first hour over the rest. But everything after that first hour is no slouch either. Just that first hour has phenomenal projection, and I love that scent. I am shocked to not see leather in the notes though, because a few hours in I swear I smell leather. I do think this is named properly. It definitely has business man vibes, but I really think it'll work for most occasions. If this was from Dior (or some other designer) it would be a best seller. Granted it'd be cheaper. But it would definitely be a best seller.

Based on the notes you might think this is a sibling of Prada l'Homme. In reality it's more like a cousin. They do not smell alike but they fit the same role and purpose. Where Prada l'Homme is very iris-forward, supported by white floral and then eventually amber, Business Over Pleasure is white floral forward, supported by iris and then eventually musk. This has very mild protection and sillage, so it's a great safe fragrance for the office. While I just compared it to Prada l'Homme, this actually doesn't smell like anything else I've tried. I'm really impressed with this.

I thought this fragrance was maybe too masculine for me, but there’s a little sweet and also powdery aspect to the scent that made me love it! Its spicy aroma reminds me of the local pepper leaf smell you’d get when you tear or chew a piece of it—I used to chew it with betelnut. The sillage makes me smile so much throughout the work day. With just the 3 - 4 sprays on my shoulders and arms, I could still smell whiffs of it as I moved around making dinner after I got home almost 11 hours later. Wonderful staying power on my skin✨ Beautiful work✨🤙

All three of the zed creator collaboration frags with zaharoff are great. Each scent serving different occasions. Business over pleasure is the epitome of a signature scent. Not over powering but also not a soft whisper of nothing either. The Iris is fresh, a tad spicy and just ever so smoky adding that nice mysterious touch. The zaharoff quality is of course there so to me, the scents are priced very accordingly. Too bad they're only doing a limited run. This and the siren would deff make my for life list.

I love this scent for what it is, as it was intended. Great Office scent. I do 8-9 sprays and come home in 9hours and can still smell it. I do spray my shirt. I love the Powdery Muskiness it gives off. It's super clean and fresh. To me it's 8.5 out of 10.

I love this, it talks smack to Prada. This is Suit Guy Scent. It's Clean-Fresh & Powdery. Lasts the day and Best of all. You have a stressful situation, sit back and smell it off your hand and you'll instantly chill right out.

Don't let the hate fool you. This is an iris masterpiece by a master perfumer. Clean, fresh and silky smooth iris with a nice slightly smokey woodsy dry down. Up there with all of the iris greats.

This is a very nice day scent. Absolutely perfect for work or anywhere you want to be subtle but fresh and clean for the whole day.

I am a TLTG viewer so I actually wanted to check out his collaboration with Zaharoff as a part of their ZedCreators line. I didn't want to blind buy Business Over Pleasure like an idiot at $119 for 75ml so I opted for a decant. I'm glad I did. I do enjoy Business Over Pleasure but not $119 for 75ml enjoy it sadly. I would say get a split or just go for Evoke Gold instead. Don't get me wrong, I do like Business Over Pleasure, but not $119 like it. Business Over Pleasure does indeed live up to the name. It is a work scent. A clean unoffending work scent. It opens spicy and reminds me of Dior Homme Eau or perhaps Prada L'Homme and Ajmal Evoke Gold. It is a spicy citrus that you can get some iris from the mid with. Along with the iris, you do get some cashmere wood in the mid. In the base is where I notice the most difference from these fragrances with the slightly smoky palo santo wood. This is the first fragrance I've smelt that particular note with and it is rather nice. Business Over Pleasure is a daytime spring, summer, fall scent. I don't get much a night time feel as this fragrance is a clean spicy. Also it doesn't smell all that much like a night scent. The iris is more in line with Dior Homme Eau than Dior Homme (Original.) Not saying it couldn't be a night scent, I just don't see it. Business Over Pleasure works good dressed up and for work. Those are the occasions I would wear it. Maybe also a daytime date.

Fresh coriander and vibrant bergamot with fresh ginger for a bit of effervescence. Creamy iris with violet nuances meets a slightly soapy of lily-of-the-valley. A clean musk and an ever so slight puff of smoke from guaiac wood and lemony palo santo. This fragrance is actually very well done and incorporates real Florentine iris. You can tell that it's natural due to the powdery violet nuances in it. This is not something you are going to get in Dior Homme(pre-2020). Only natural ingredients shift in and out and weave through a composition as these notes do. Is this a masterpiece? I don't think so. No offense to TLTG intended. However, this is a very well-constructed scent that embraces the business and casual side of things. However, I do think it leans more on the business side. It smells expensive. This fragrance had a lot of unjustified hate. If people would stop and actually smell this fragrance instead of basing opinions on the opening or their opinion of someone, then you will find the beauty of this scent. If you think this scent is generic, then you should give it some time and explore it some more. It has little traces of certain nuances that make it interesting to me. It's a shame that it's discontinued and I won't get a bottle. However, I am thankful that I at least got to try it

I got a sample of this with brass & soul and i can definitely dig it , something makes you wanna just keep coming back to your wrist , i love to just catch it in the air that powdery iris & bergamot pepper combo really is alluring i really am thinking of getting. This FB ... good job Ross 8/10 to me Update 😔 Ross has Taken the lead out of all 3 i purchased brass & Soul on strip it’s not doing what BOP is doing on my skin , i will Give Justin’s a full wearing tomorrow and give somewhat of a review but TLTG i really Do like what you’ve done with BOP not a projection monster but it’s very pleasant smelling still an 8/10 just really do dig this one the most of the 3 .. I’m not sure what the trolling is about but this is a solid fragrance and I’m not a pro just a guy who loves to smell good and this smells good damn it 😂

Probably the most inoffensive and easy to like fragrance that I've tried so far, totally safe for work. Even if it doesn't smell similar, it kinda brings Prada l'homme vibes to me. Tried through sample vial, If it was 100ml for that price I would buy it right away. I love it, but I still can't justify the 60ml bottle price.

Very nice pleasant gentlemanly scent. I know Ross likes his fougere’s and this has a touch of fougere but more wearable. Really nice work fragrance Update.....after multiple wearings this is a beautiful aromatic. Love the fougere iris vibe. Very clean, polished

I didn’t really like the opening and was disappointed. After you let it dry down it becomes a very nice gentlemanly scent. You can definitely detect the Zaharoff DNA once it dries down. It’s a nice pleasant scent and unique on its own.

The performance is one of the weakest fragrance I have ever held in my collection. With a bottle being $119 and with the quality of perfume, that Zaharoff claims to starves for. The sillage and performance is incredibly unsatisfactory. No projection even after fresh sprays. A faint hint of it can be detected with skin to nose after 45 mins. Scent 6.5/10 Sillage 1/10 Projection 1/10 Price to Value 2/10 Hard pass due to serious poor performance issues (Less then 1hr before its gone).

Bought this fragrance during its initial release. I found it to be very weak as far as projection and longevity. I found myself almost digging my nose into my hand to smell the scent immediately after spraying. We'll, it's sat out a dark a/c controlled cc closet. I decided to give it another shot. Nothing had changed. I get slight coriander and pepper in the opening followed by a light iris comparable to the OG Prada Lhomme but not as powdery. This was easily the weakest and most underwhelming of the 6 ZED creator releases. I'm angry with myself for buying into the hype. I feel the whole Zaharoff like has lost its mystique after so many releases.

Alot of people say this smells great and performs poorly, I will agree with one of those and disagree with the other. This fragrance not only performs poorly but smells fairly mediocre as well. The iris note is directionless and seems undecided between violet leaf and smooth satin while the lily of the valley has the paint stripper vibe that you get from most modern lily of the valleys. The musks are very boring scent wise and appear to be there mainly as a fixative. While there is nothing wrong with office fragrances, for me they need to be done very well to compensate for how boring they can be.

I got a sample of this the other day from a mutual fragrance friend who was as completely uninspired by this as I was. This is nondescript in my opinion. It has minimum sillage and longevity in my opinion. I don't know about anyone who says they get 7 hours+ with this because I barely got 7 minutes. I understand that it you do not want to have a Uber projecting fragrance in a business setting but remove that idea and this still smells like generic in a bottle. Not great.

This fell flat after all of the positive hype I was very disappointed.. For the price of this fragrance I know for a fact you could but 2 maybe three fragrance that would all be a way better buy.. Don't waste your time lusting after a frag you may regret buying.? Rather than a cheaper option that blows ur socks off.. It was just a disappointment and I had to buy it at an even bigger jacked up price as couldn't get hold of a sample. I felt bad selling it, not because of regret but I felt like I was robbing the buyer. I ended up losing money on this as no way I could of resold this at the pice it was going for back then. Not without feeling terrible about it.. I think ppl say the amazing things about this mediocre frag because they don't want to feel stupid for falling for the hype.. Emperor's new clothes springs to mind.. Oh well will never be swayed again and buy just because other tubers say it's good..

The scent itself is nice, but my goodness is it weak. Incredibly overpriced in my opinion. No way this is an edp. It wears like a cologne. I feel this is around a 30 dollar scent. Been wanting to try Zaharoff Signature for a while, but I think I’ll pass after this. Just seems like a cash grab at this point.

Don't waste your time! ON ANY ZARAHOFF. This is terrible for the money. So much better you can get for this expensive water (i think water would actually last longer literally)

Little Carlito (TLTG) is shilling for Zaharoff. This fragrance is cheap smelling and headache inducing.

So...this is an edit to my review below. This has/had the ability to be a (damn near) PERFECT fragrance. The scent itself is great...just really great. Would be a wonderful daily driver for work, for dress, for casual, for whatever the occasion. The problem lies in its performance. Now...I am NOT (at all) one of these folks that even cares much about that. I actually like being able to wear another scent later in the day if I want. That said...I have NEVER owned a fragrance in my life that performs this poorly. It simply dissappears, gone. It's an immediate skin-scent that just quickly fades to zero. Had this just had SOME, ANY level of longevity, I'd have backups of it. I like it that much. I purchased Brass & Soul, and found my new favorite. So nice! Clean, fresh, little soapy, and lasts the entire work day.

This fragrance sounds great and I'm really excited to sample it. The only thing that bums me out is that I'm frustrated by the idea that they're only doing one production run. I understand it brings urgency to get people to buy a bottle as quickly as possible but I'd like the chance to buy a decant and see if it's good or not before I spend a lot on a bottle. I think it was the same thing with Zaharoff's other scents. But besides that everything from the packaging to the notes looks great.

It's alright but it doesn't scratch that itch, personally speaking. I'm not an expert at detecting notes. I get rose for sure and some iris. Maybe a dash of pepper. Its weak on me and the wife gave it a so-so rating. Not bad. Just nothing I'd buy a FB. On the other hand, the Zarahoff PH original is the gem of the house. To my nose it's a masterpiece I'll wear on special occasions for rest of my life!

This is a nice smelling fragrance. Nothing earth shattering but overall pleasant , enjoyable to wear , office safe. My pet peeve with it though is performance. I don’t mind the lack of projection as I don’t like “announcing “ myself , however after 3 hours this is barely noticeable. Even if over-sprayed. That is unfortunate. Not sure what else to do to enhance longevity

What a GREAT scent!!! This is just about as perfect a signature scent as is currently out there now. If you can't get your hands on a bottle, do yourself a favor and get a sample. Just a clean, fresh, masculine, fragrance. Lovely.

I wish people grew up a bit and start taking some things seriously, what's the point of rating a fragrance poorly and comparing it with nonsense parfums? I have great hopes for this one

Tltg seems to like powdery and iris fragrances. They are trash. Would never even spend a dollar on this garbage.

Safe office scent but the price is too high when you consider the longevity and the fact that it’s a blind buy

Don't waste your 20 dollars on these Youtuber scents. Just buy Zaharoff Signature and be done with it.

The smell is quite pleasant but it has little push which is a shame.
