Signature Royale X

Signature Royale X is nominally a flanker of the flanker, Signature Royale, from 2020, but smell-wise, quite distinct, at least to me, a bit spicier, with, as advertised, a sort of animalic/dirty component, not invasively but rather harmonious with a good sort of semi-fresh/floral, spicy, woody center. Key notes for me are the lavender, citruses, juniper, woods, patchouli, and oud. After a little drying down it ends up being, well, dry—still lively, but with the spices in sober harmony with one another. I don’t get the pimento berry (as I don’t know what the berry smells like) but in my mind, it bridges the gap from the spiky juniper to the spicier cardamom/patchouli/leather/oud aspects. Overall, this is really nice, and like the original Signature and Signature Noir before it has major “men’s signature scent vibes” while being modern and versatile enough to not be purely nor stereotypically masculine. And it’s notably less sweet and powder than Signature and Signature Noir, and might appeal more so to those who want something a little less modern than the aforementioned. Signature and Signature feels more like the 2010s and pre-1990s, whereas Signature Royale X feels like the 1990s and 2000s—those are my scent memories and connections, and yours might very well differ. Regardless, I’d certainly suggest sampling Signature Royale X, as with the rest of the house, of course, with its rich and deep variety. In extrait/parfum concentration at 27%, it’s a higher concentration than its EDP predecessors but I don’t find it markedly different on my skin from the others, which have pretty much all been high-performing. 8 out of 10

So I've owned multiple Zaharoffs now. But in the last couple of years have been hesitant due to 'BO' 'Armpit' etc comments. Signature Pour Homme is in my Top 3 of all time. And the others I have tried are really good perfumes just a few aren't for me ie Rosé. Over the weekend I just got to smell the whole line of Zaharoff with a rep. This opening is incredible... off the atomizer it reminded me of the musk in Creed Himalaya. This had a beautiful opening and superb drydown. Perhaps some people just don't like heavy Musk AND if you are not clean Musk will always Amp up any BO... I don't think this perfume gives off a BO vibe. I wore it yesterday and got 2 compliments, the first compliments I've had in months! This and the original Royale are my favorite from this flanked XXX & XXXL aren't for me but they're good quality and solid perfumes. This is the first perfume in a long time that made my jaw drop on the opening. Performance is solid, had a nice bubble, not a big projector but it's not supposed to be. I get the 'after sex' kinda vibe but this is sexy in my opinion. I just wish they came in 120ml bottles... Signature Pour Homme is still my first choice but this is top 3 from Zaharoff for me. Other releases really surprised me too... I really don't know why I doubted the genuine intent of great perfumery that Zaharoff has been creating. 9/10 - losing a point for versatility. You can wear this is summer & winter i believe but I'd only wear it for specific occasions. Dates this would be perfect.

One of my favourite summer soapy fragrances; I like all the signature royales, but the Royale X would win for me in a competition. Imagine you are in a very well designed five star hotel somewhere in some fancy place. You just enjoyed a relaxing day at the pool. You come back to your room, put on some smooth tunes to set the scene, hit that marble tiled rainshower and shave to perfection. Put on some classy clothes and of course the matching watch. This is when Signature Royale X tops it off and let's you enhance that rich feeling to a level you thought was never possible. The afternoon cocktail followed by a Michelin star dinner while catching that beautiful sunset is the perfect closure for the day. Keep smelling for more dreamy situations. George, you legend. This fragrance must resemble the most luxurious soap bar you've ever smelled. Love it! A beautiful soapy fragrance with that typical DNA of the Signature line from Zaharoff: 9.5/10

I do Not care for compliments, but this gem has easily become my most complemented fragrance, i can’t explain it .. It’s not specifically my favorite profile but when i tell You people love this thing on me .. I get a citric soapy opening but that musk comes to party hard and heavy and Ig people appreciate that , i have no complaints besides people comparing it to things like 360 , that was my favorite fragrance As a 12 year old boy and this is a million times better so it does it no justice to compare it to something so thin with no body i dont Get anything specifically close to 360 besides freshness, this is my favorite from the brand . I thought it was rosé but this is the one ... Lastly i dont Get anything xXx about the fragrance and I’m fine with that so don’t let the description of the fragrance scare you , GEORGE and his team nailed this 8 of a 10 would score higher but I’m not big on shower profiles

Signature Royale X opens up with a bright bergamot that is lifted by a clean and slightly powdery lavender. The fresh cardamom smell adds a bit of spiciness without making it too warm. This gives it a fresh soapy vibe that will persist throughout the fragrance, but the bergamot will taper off before the base comes out. As the heart emerges, you start to get the musk in full force. You can pick up the musk in the opening, but it doesn't really start showing until the heart comes out. Some people have said this is a clean musk. I strongly disagree. This is not a soapy white musk. This musk is rich, warm, and animalic. It's not overpoweringly animalic. It just adds a touch of skankiness to it. It combines with the creamy and buttery sandalwood that the original Royale and Signature are known for to create a creamy animalic woody musk. It's quite beautiful when paired with lavender and some smooth woods.

I frequently contemplate purchasing a backup bottle of Royale X. This has a beautiful and bright citrus opening quickly mixing with a clean musk and light touch of lavender. This part of Royale X is everything for me. The dry-down is quite unique to my nose with a little spice and a dirty quality, potentially from the mix of the leather, patchouli, and heavy musk. This stage of Royale X is evocative of what the marketing was going for behind this release. Overall, I love this stuff. Performance is great on my skin with 2 hours of strong projection and the life of the fragrance lasting 8-10 hours. The lovely musk is the main star, present from hour 1 to hour 10. Masculine burst of musk and citruses to begin with. Not a barbershop, but has barbershoppy hyper-masculine vibes to begin with. This dissipates pretty quickly, and I feel like what youre left with is a pleasant long lasting skin scent. Iv never smelt glossier you before, but I imagine this is kindof like a male version of that. A long lasting skin scent that gives off a sexy masculine aura. Didnt think anything of this one at first but it really grew on me. Also, dont know what people are going on about, this is not animalic in the least. Am not smelling anything sweaty or unpleasant, infact I would say this is relatively tame and crowd pleasing. Not in a bad way, but you might expect a smell like this from mens lotions or shower gel.

I kept hearing people describe this as "dirty" since it includes a lot of musks in the base. While I do understand where that description comes from, I definitely feel like this is more on the clean, masculine side of things. Having smelled the original Signature Pour Homme, Royale, and Noir (which all smell VERY similar to each other), I was hesitant to try this and feel like it was not enough of a departure from original's DNA to be worth it. I am actually so glad I decided to give this one a shot because it is a big departure from the original's DNA while still maintaining the same "clean-cut masculine" vibe of the original. It just feels a little bit more masculine and statement making. Great scent. 9/10

Royale X is a marvelous sexy and yet still classy fragrance. This is one of my favorites from the house. Performance and sillage are amazing and it smells so good in the air! To me it has that perfect balance of sexyness and class. If you're a musk lover then this will be for you. It's a tad bit animalic but that only adds to the sex appeal yet it does not go too far as it remains a scent that is versatile that can be worn just about in any situation and any weather. After Tabac this is my 2nd favorite from the house. Another fantastic release from the efforts of Claude Dir and George Zaharoff. All Star team!

A fragrance that wants to reproduce a contradiction: that of the clean with that of the animalic. And it succeeds perfectly, it has a clean, fresh opening, but with something primordial and sensual in the underlying, beautiful, in its apparent particular simplicity and always with that background elegance. The image it wants to give us is that of an amorous rendezvous after getting out of the shower, an image it portrays perfectly. Fresh, intriguing, very pleasant, a must try. ‘Entreinte’ painted by Picasso.

Magnetic and delightfully intriguing, Zaharoff Signature Royale X is a fresh yet warm fragrance that sparks curiosity and definitely something you can easily find yourself wanting to smell a little bit closer to your skin. Its rich base notes create a warm, sexy and on an overall, intimate vibe. This is one fragrance that you'd want to be remembering over and over and over again.

Really nice mixture of white musks and other animalic nuances, overall it creates a vivid vintage soapy fresh out of the shower smell. From what i've smelt I think this is one of the best musk scents currently around, the only downside is the far drydown which smells very generic and reminiscent of designer blue fragrances.

very spicy top, almost pink peppery, sitting on top of a woody base, dries down to one of the sexiest musk bombs you can find on the market. People easily must consciously resist your gravitational pull. Zaharoff is one of the top brands in fragrances hands down, even after considering all 200 bottles in my collection!

This is exactly as it is described. Sexy, daring, masculine. I like the BO vibe in the beginning and throughout. I can see why some may not like it, but for me and my taste this is amazing. The dry down is simply amazing. Will definitely pick up a bottle of this.

Big G made an amazing fragrance. it was love from the first sniff. opens sexy, dries down sexier. ive never smelt something like this before. ive been complimented by people who dont like fragrances at all. this juice is powerfull

This is a fantastic masculine fragrance. Musky, citrus and woody is what I mainly get, all wrapped in soapy lavender. Fresh, clean, musk! SEXy! Gentleman this is the fragrance you wear when you know it’s happening that night 😉

Universe360 is obviously trolling. Smells nothing remotely similar to D&G K. 😂 It's a sexy and classy musk! The scent profile is heavenly and divine! Performance and projections are great! Very well done!

Great perfume , very office safe. It lasts easily 6+ hours and projects really well. Got a backup bottle of it. It really changed my perspective on fougere fragrances

There is definitely a healthy tone of cumin in here to create the body odor accord.

This is a joint review of Royale X and Royale XXX which I tested on subsequent days. As a base of comparison, I used Clean Musk by Authenticity Perfumes (company not in database). Both X and XXX are for sure NOT clean type musks. I agree with lostscent's review below. For performance, they both have excellent longevity however projection and sillage is intimate unless you vastly overspray. In that case, the projection lasts about an hour and then they are back to basically strong skin scents. Once both fragrances settle, which doesn't take long, they can both be described as a musky male body scent. I did not detect any BO armpit smell. The difference between X and XXX is that XXX adds a very subtle fruity/floral accord. For me, I liked X better. It's a pretty versatile scent but not good enough for me to immediately order a bottle. I'll add X to my "maybe buy in the future" list. Because it's mainly a second skin scent, I doubt it would have much utility in layering. It would have been interesting to use it as a base to make a top layer fragrance more masculine. Sadly, I think it's too weak for that. Since I liked X better, I won't be bothering with XXX. On second though, won't be getting either. Just too weak. As far as the marketing hype, one can use one's imagination to smell whatever you want - jock strap from a high school football player, man's scent after laying pipe with the stewardess in an airplane lavatory at 30,000 feet or whatever. I'd simply describe it as a sweaty male body smell (not BO) similar to the underlying base of say Overture Man or Unutamam (but those two fragrances do it better and stronger and have different accords on top, which X and XXX lack).

Opens up with a heavy citrus, then transitions to a very soapy smell. Think dove for men bar soap, just a masculine soapy smell. The musk then starts to appear and it smells sort of like sweat. Not in a bad way, just smells like a natural body musk. Then... I smell exactly what they intended it to smell like. A crotch. I was so shocked i rushed to these reviews and was surprised to see only one reviewer got the same experience. It smells EXACTLY like a male crotch. It's mind-blowing to me. I don't regret the purchase. I am a fan of the House of Zaharoff and this fragrance is truly one of a kind. It has moderate projection and longevity.

Spice drawer with blue aspect, similar to K EDP, by D&G. Love the description below with it being a mix of clean and animalic. Spicy, like cooking spices, with great versatility and probably quite the great signature fragrance. Has enough interest to not be more of the same, but sufficiently familiar on the nose, especially in the air. Great performance: scent trail on point, projection can actually be pretty strong with many sprays, and longevity is sure on the 9-10h mark. I believe it's worth the price, but probably as a 60ml/2oz since it has good performance.

Imagine mothballs, but kinda sexier??? That’s the vibe it gave me. It does smell good once you keep putting your nose to it. The description is pretty accurate—imagine something CLEAN, but with a little dirt mixed in. When I got it, I was underwhelmed—not in a bad way, just in an 'Oh... okay' kind of way lol. I’d give it a 7.5/10.

I'm glad I got a sample of this - it saved me from falling victim to the hype. The marketing verbiage on this is remarkable. But after smelling it - it's more an "anti-fragrance" rather than a musk-based scent with a strong identifiable feature. On my skin, it is not a strong performer. It behaves more like a "2nd-skin" scent - I think that is where the marketing is accurate - that it smells like a man's skin that is recently out of the shower after using a typical body wash. I don't detect anything "dirty" or "scandalous" at all. It is a good smell - unfortunately, I think this is overpriced - right now, this is $213 CAD for 60ml on the brand's website - that's steep for a scent like this...a scent that quickly blends into the background and you can barely perceive that you're wearing a fragrance at all. And I'm not a person who is obsessed with performance but I am obsessed with value-for-money - for a price like this, I expect something special in one or more facets. Not something that smells similar to the natural scent of your body after taking a shower. I'd say it is worth a sample just for experimentation. But there are other relatively inexpensive musk-based scents that offer something more (e.g. Brioni Eclat).

I was given a sample of all of the Royale fragrances. I have never looked this up on Fragrantica and I smelled it without having any idea what it smelled like. I sprayed it and thought, ooh, that’s a nice bergamot, juniper and lavender opening! And then within seconds ... oh no, there’s cumin or coriander. Royale X absolutely gives me a BO smell. It is there and it is real to some of us lol. In reading these reviews, a lot of people are saying, oh, it’s just musks. No, the BO smell is not musk. It is cumin or coriander. Because it is subtle, I think it is more likely coriander. It feels like George wanted to spice things up and add a “dirty” touch to it. Unfortunately it ruins it for me. If you get this and you think you smell great ... well, to some people like me, you will just smell like you haven’t showered recently. 5/10 and a Fragrantica score of 3.7

I can't understand anyone wanting to smell like this. I appreciate George's vision and passion for fragrances; he seems like an awesome guy and I plan on trying his other fragrances. I just honestly don't enjoy this one. He says it was inspired by the smell of a used jock strap... but I didn't expect inspiration to mean replication. It literally smells distinctly like sweaty underwear. Specifically, a sweaty ball sack lol. No one I showed this to enjoyed it. There are no situations in which I can see myself reaching for this instead of something else. The office, date night, a signature scent, a night out... this doesn't really excel in any of those situations. At the very least, there are better fragrances in my collection for all of those situations. I'm selling my bottle and will sample his other Signature line offerings.

More citrus aromatic woody, not a musky scent if you're expecting that. Smells like a clean man for sure bit i don't get the dirty edginess they speak of. The quality is unquestionably there though.

I don’t think the marketing aligns with the actual scent. Smells nice overall, just not a musky fragrance. Reminds me of a department store shower gel.

Don’t be swayed by the hype or groupthink; it’s wise to save your money and sample it first. My initial experience with this company was disappointing . The packaging feels cheap, the bottle is cheap, and the cap is difficult to remove. there were noticeable particles floating inside the bottle, and the scent reminds me of something you’d expect from a $50 fragrance marketed towards older men. I don’t mean to offend anyone, but it’s just not anything special. I am convinced everyone is getting paid to promote this

I was very excited to try this one as I have multiple samples from across the signature line. Sadly, after a couple of wearings, this one just doesn't vibe with my skin chemistry. It's the only fragrance I've worn that my wife told me I stank. Very sad day. I have loved every offering I've tried from Zaharoff from Citrine, Cocoloco, Rose, black rose, leather tabac, bloom. Shame. GZ and the masterful Claude Dir have produced some incredible stuff but this one's not for me.

I'm sorry but no. GZ said he wanted this one to smell like a jock strap...well he succeeded. My first wearing only had a brief period of the BO smell then it turned into a nice musky citrus. My second wearing didn't go well. I kept getting whiffs of BO and would do the typical self check then remember what I was wearing. I have since sold it. Sample first if you can.

You have to like Musk, spicy powdery . To me there is a female fragrance I'm smelling in this and I cannot get away from it , I can't un smell it . I looked at the notes on here and it says musky, fresh spicy, powdery. Thats it! That's what throws me off. I get the clean notes in the first 10 to 15 minutes, but underneath is that fresh spicy powdery girl smell. The idea of the scent was to take a nice shower and then get into bed and have sex and it's supposed to represent the ying and yang of that. The clean & dirty. If you told me the reason that "naughty smell" is both necks rubbing together , nuzzling during sex and now you have some of the girls perfume on you ( which does happen) from that exchange, I would agree that's what I'm smelling. I smell no crotch smell or no sex smell. To me it's the blending of cologne and a girl's perfume together during sex. I'm 53 and I was definitely around for Musks back in the day, so I definitely know musks, but when you put a fresh, SPICY POWDERY on Musk ....it smells feminine. At least to my nose. Still I believe it's great work and great perfumery I respect perfumers. I am always open to try more mens fragrances from Zaharoff house even if I don't like this one. I would not blind by this. As always I tell everyone get vial samples first. Sucks, I really wanted to like this one badly. 5.0/10 Scent Good performance Good longevity. Good quality.

Signature X From a womens perspective, this is a very intriguing scent. Its top reminded me of one of the best mens fragrances ever to hit the market, Lagerfeld Photo. However, X takes a life of its own with the overdosed musk to turn this sexy. The spices, the fresh lavender, citrus, the woods, anchoring the musks. The benzoin bite and aeromatic vetiver lend texture. Its truly hard to understand anyone that would not be attracted by it. The musks are clean but alluring . Not animalic musks a la Kouros. Im not sure how Claude Dir managed the fresh juxtiposed with the naughty musk. Maybe the good guy isnt so "good" afterall 😉 Superior in its genre

this smells mainstream and unique at the same time. I don’t feel this is for a younger male. 30 and above scent and I think this smells very “sensual”. I get some dirty or I guess bitterness in the background but it’s not a bad smell to my nose. Longevity is super. Unsure about projection yet but it was very apparent for the first two hours while I was moving. I just got the bottle today :D

This smells good but it's nothing special. I was really intrigued by the whole masculine sexuality jockstrap talk but this has none of that. This is clean, shower gel, generic, blue vibes. Not even a hint of animalic anything.

I like this one! Standard Fougere but done very well, I detect juniper, grass, woods, cardamom, lavender, & bergamot. A clean manly aftershave scent that’s not too shaving cream oriented.

Duuuuuude it smells just like Dolce & Gabbana K (EDT).
