A Perfume

This is the best Zara perfume I own so far ❤️ And for a change, this one projects well and lasts a long time ☺️

I haven’t smelled bal d Afrique In a long time to remember it exactly but this Zara perfume does smell niche I have Gold couture and it doesn’t have any similarities whatsoever to that one , I don’t find it similar to Magnifique either Starts with some citrus luminous opening Then moves to a caramel woody and creamy (almost coconut smelling ) base ... so I guess you could say it’s a creamy sweet sandalwood scent . The woody aspect could steer it a bit towards the masculine side but the caramel brings it back to feminine Medium projection and lasting power Truly one of the most complex yet likeable smelling perfumes from Zara , does not smell generic at all

I found my travel size of A Perfume on clearance at a Zara store just recently, so I don't know if it the same product from 2019, but this smells nothing like other reviewers have described on my skin. I get zero balsamic or woody notes from my perfume. It is 100% light citrus, caramel, and sandalwood. I believe, after trying it several times, that the closest I can compare it to is Prada Candy Night. A Perfume is sweet, pretty, and quite flirty!

This is another of Zara's fragrances trying to smell like something much more expensive. In this case it is Bal D'Afrique. With A Perfume they succeed...kinda. This smells like a very cheap, thin, weak, super synthetic version with a persistant alcohol base. A year later Zara made a much better version, Amber Linen. It is only a little more similar to Bal D'Afrique, but it is a much more pleasant fragrance overall. A Perfume doesn't really develop beyond the syrupy sweet citrus opening, The citruses are similar to those of Bal D'Afrique, but that is where the similarity ends. The strong blast of alcohol in the opening never really goes away and the fragrance smells very synthetic throughout the wear. It wears pretty light and thin on the skin and could be worn all year. The caramel might get a bit sticky and overwhelming with a heavy application in high heat. But a modest to average application stays away from cloying territory. The projection is light to moderate, staying within arms reach. The longevity is also on the light side, lasting 3 to 4 hours. Really, not as bad as many Zara fragrances that disappear before 2 hours.

What can I say about A Perfume by Zara. It's citrusy, sweet, balsamic, clean, mysterious but uncomplicated. Upon first spraying in the store, I immediately thought of Santal 33 by LeLabo which is why I purchased this. The notes in Santal 33 are - Top: violet accord, cardamom.Middle: iris, papyrus, ambrox. Base: cedarwood, leather, sandalwood. The sandalwood in Santal 33 and A perfume by Zara really comes through which is why I feel is an exact dupe. Zara's A perfume smells very niche which I am moving more towards as designer perfumes seem to all have a similar dry down which I'm not very fond of. Also for layering, I wore PDM Delina the last time I wore the shirt I have on today, now I'm wearing A perfume and it melds very well together. I will need to get a backup bottle of this as it will surely sell out. It's not like other Zara's frags, this stands completely alone.
