Bois de Vincennes

Great scent. Has some Fahrenheit - CH men vibe going on. Great for fall and winter. Its also safe for office. It would not offend anybody. Blind buy recommended. No notes to dislike here. Update: This was one of my most worn fragrances last winter. I really love the combination of soft kind of leather with violet. This is not really a fragrance for really young kids. Maybe it's underrated because of that.

Mandarine orange/tangerine and violet leaf freshness with powdery (musk and iris) backbone with a very prominent leather note. Great quality for the price.

Zara fragrances have about 5% treasure/garbage ratio. Which means that with unrelentless pace of new releases, you can get your hands on marvel or two quite often. For that reason I like to stroll Zara stores and test their new frags. This one is the best of their new Parisian line. It surprises me how much people downvote the obvious resemblance to Fahrenheit. The leather note strikes from the start and is very prominent. Sillage and longevity are above average which means a lot in Zara standards. I find it a bit redundant and unoriginal, but can see how it can be successful. As far as I'm concerned, I will stick to Dior.

Thanks to the fat leather note upfront, this is an undeniably sweeter, artisanal take on Fahrenheit, although I doubt that was the intent. There are other notes involved that make this very interesting, notable a slightly sweet, watery note. Otherwise, if you have smelled Fahrenheit then you ae 90% there. The gasoline note Fahrenheit is famous for is here, albeit accompanied by a WD40-like metallic vibe.

The original notes are : mandarin, orris, jasmine, musk, cedarwood and amber. This one is orris based fragrance, on my skin I get the orris and mandarin then it is all about orris, cedarwood and amber. It is very nice fragrance for the price specially if you are into iris (orris).

It smells more masculine in this opening, it has an opening like wet cardboard, it is more unisex to dry, it takes longer on paper and clothes, but it stays for 3 hours on the skin

If you want to smell a soft, suede-like leather, Naomi Goodsir's perfumes are the way to go, though they are a bit pricey. However, if you want to get a sense of the kind of leather I'm referring to, Bois de Vincennes is a great option. As the review below states, this is far away from the other leather accords you can find in Tuscan or Ombre Leather by Tom Ford. This is the kind of leather you'd get from a leather coat's inside. While interesting, I don't think this is very wearable, though I might get it down the line if it's on sale. While it starts being very heavy on the leather, sooner than later it develops into a soil-like smell that ends up just smelling like a big pile of carton to my nose. Nonetheless, kudos to Zara for bringing new and original olfatory experiences that you can even try on stupidly cheap sample sets. 6.5/10.

To me, this smells very woody, like a leafy willow or birch or something. Later in the dry down, the scent sent me on an olfactory quest of finding out where I've smelt something similar to this. At first, a cat sprung into mind, but somehow that wasn't it, something didn't fit in exactly. And then it hit me like a thunderbolt - parrots. Eureka. It is the smell of parrots (budgies) I had when I was a kid. Hilarious, but not unlikeable.

It's alright in the opening with the Orris and Violet leaf (albeit a bit unoriginal), but then it completely falls apart and the notes smell both off and disjointed. Lasts forever on paper but only about 4 hours on skin.

If you want to smell like a new leather shoe, then put this fragrance on yourself and disgust everyone around you. Boring! Unoriginal! Repugnant! Cheap! Zara!

I think several of the reviewers hit it right on the head. This is a very delicate, soft leather/suede. On initial blast, it feels like you're about to get Fahrenheit then it fades right away leaving you with what I imagine the inside of suede pouch would smell like. I think people list fragrances like DHI, Ombre Leather, Tuscan Leather, etc. because there may be leather notes in those and they don't have another reference point. This is definitely not similar to these at all, but I can see why they were listed. It's definitely missing the intensity of the leather that those others have. It also doesn't have any of the sweetness from an additional note like vanilla or tonka bean. The dry down winds up being a mix of a soft suede and sweet(ish) lemons with a hint of violets. Don't know if I get the mandarin or an orange vibe at all. If you're looking for a subtle leather/suede then this is a very nice and relatively inexpensive find.

In late 2020 I stayed mostly home. I got a sample pack of París stories and the Jo Malone collection. Among all the sample this is the one that I later purchased a bottle and I love to wear it while working and drawing in my small home office. Never been to Bois de vincennes, but this perfume brought me back to those old bookstores in Paris:some very earthy leather book covers smell with slightly floral fragrance from the staff or customers. It's not a loud fragrance to begin with so it doesn't last long on the skin but it does linger on the cotton clothes, sort of the smell when you bought a book from that bookstore. I can also smell my two teenage kids using it but I have to stop them as it is no where to be found now. So for whoever lives in Canada that does not find it fitting you and willing to let go your bottle I would love to have it!

I can absolutely smell the similarity with CH Men. However Bois de Vincennes is less intense and less sweet therefore in my opinion more wearable. I am not the biggest leather fan as it can get overbearing and cloying most of the times so the fact that this is a light skin scent straight away actually benefits the wearability of the fragrance. I could see this being worn at work or more casual affairs as it is barely noticeable. Bois de Vincennes as most Zara fragrances didn't last much more. No more than a couple of hours and I had to put my nose close to the perfumed area to feel it. Despite its attractive asking price and nice smell you surely can find a better alternative out there.

Another great realise from Zara for the upcoming fall/winter season. Bois de Vincennes starts with heavy smell of leather, iris and mandarin orange and that prominent leather smell stays for a while. As the perfume evolves it becames more and more freshier/floral with hints of leather, jasmine and violet leaves. Maybe it s just me, but the first time I smelled Bois de Vincennes it reminded me of Dior Fahrenheit. Also, I can see why many people relate it with DH line, but it 's not a clone or a copy of DH. It is a perfume on its own and a decent one for sure. The fragrance notes according to Zara are: MANDARIN, ORRIS JASMINE, MUSK CEDARWOOD, AMBER

I don ́t get at all the similarities with any Dior Homme batches or flankers. Is very different. Anyway this is a masterpiece from Zara thats brings us a lovely scent about leather but not a chemical leather used in almost all the leather fragrances on the market. This leather comes from the ground and the fields, from the countryside. Once you smell it you will know what I mean. Is a really great job that surprised me becoming in one of my signature scents. Lol I live close to Bois de Vincennes and it doesn’t smell like this « romanticized » marketing pitch... it’s more green, fresh and aquatic (the lake and its waterfalls) and floral (opulent flowers not really violets)... Great soft suede fragrance for the price. The top notes of iris (supposedly violet leaves) disappear fast, and you are left with a fragrance that feels like a a well fitted glove. I'll probably gift a bottle of this to someone.

This is beautiful, soft, iris and leather. It reminded me a lot of the discontinued Orris and Sandalwood by Jo Malone, though I might actually prefer this one!
