Bye Love (Into the Wood)

Edit: it smells like a mix between Lush Lord of Misrule, Givenchy L'Inderdit Black (the bubbly candied flowers) and some sandal used by Jovoy/Jeroboam. Fizzy, candied citrus, noble rose and clean sandal. Playful and unique. This one is incredible to me. It is profound, and somewhat balsamic, only lightly woody, and it has a fizzy and candied carachter layered on the more deep notes and florals. It smells exactely the same as an old Lush Cosmetics bubble bath bar of which I have forgotten the name. I don't smell at all the given notes in the "traditional" way, either their mix created something unique, they have not declared the right or full notes list or Zara used a new to them type and quality of patchouli, because the deep soul this fragrance has can only come from that material. I shall try to explain better: on top I smell fizzy and mellow citrus notes, very reminiscent of gelly candies like Haribo but the one which are fizzy and sour while covered in sugar. The rose I get is deep and red, full of life. Very atypical though for Zara which usually utilizes rose in a more traditional or in fashion way, while in here it is very peculiar and almost niche like to my nose. It smells like a serious rose essence made playful by the citrus and deep by the base, so yes I would say it is quite peculiar. There is also a floral richness, but at the moment I can not say precisely what type. The base is a mystery to me: I get something balsamic, similar to light gummy olibanum, something green and only a light wash of the earthyness of patchouli. This patchouli appears to be sweet, no spiciness, no soil, no traditional 70's patchouli. The sandalwood too is different from the usual Zara sandal, it is all creaminess in here, it smells very clean and comforting, only lightly woody (no coconut, lactonic or camphorated nuances as in the others Zara sandalwood based fragrances). Finally what I can say to explain better this fragrance is that it smells like a mix between a Lush Cosmetics fragrance and a Jovoy/Jeroboam one, in particular between Lush Calacas (or Zesty/Dia de Los Muertos) and Floro by Jeroboam. It was a very pleasant surprise for me because I love that genre of fragrances. This would have fitted wonderfully the new Zara collection for men (unisex really), it is in the same vein, let's say, of Tender Amber and Spell Caramel, it has that modern playful carachter. Autumn and Halloween candies comes to my mind but that is probably a personal connection I always make with this kind of perfumes. What I liked the most is the way the citrus notes are treated in this fragrance, the gummy base and that deep rose. It has a good lasting power and projection too. My favorite from the Zara Minimal Collection. Edit: I can see why many compare it to L'Inderdit Intense (black bottle) since there is the presence of a floral component that almost seems candie like, fresh spicy elements, all on a base of refined patchouli, something that smells deep and earthy in a way. But I don't find them so similar, I smell no tuberose in Bye Love, and in L'Inderdit Intense tuberose is practically a core element, at least to my nose. Edit 2: what I always describe as fizzy candy could also be defined as a lollipop of sort, in this case flavored with rose and grape shades. Still not bubblegum tuberose/orange flowers though.

This is amazingly good. My new obsession. A little goes a long way (which isn't very Zara!) And I can smell this on my clothes days after it is sprayed. It's intoxicating, rich and balsamic sandalwood and rose. 10/10

This is a great long lasting perfume from Zara considering the price. I wonder why it does not garner much appreciation and like to some. This perfume smells wealth IMO.

This is definitely a close relative of L'interdit. To my nose it's not as sweet. That can make it take on a sour note. I think this would be great layered with their Nocturnal Life (Angel's Share) I would also layer it with fruity and sparkling fragrances. Because of the lack of sweetness, this is very much unisex and can be layered with other fragrance well. I wouldn't blind buy this if you've never experienced L'Interdit in the black bottle. The longevity on this on par. It's been 8 hours and I can smell myself well. The scent does have a sourness ,but it is also a dark, sexy vibe. For the price, I would definitely buy this again. If you love the L'Interdit line, you'll appreciate the DNA in this. However, next time I wear it, I will layer it with a pear 🍐 fragrance to sweeten it up. I'll also layer with fragrances with a Cinnamon spice vibe to give it a touch of the scent you get from L'Interdit Rouge. I won't say I prefer this over the original L'Interdit though. That has everything I love. But overall, this a great dark and sultry scent and I like it alot.

This one is a pretty simple and delicate fragrance. I notice all three of the notes that are listed and to my nose, it’s balanced pretty evenly between those. It’s a likable smell, though the compliment that I got from it, wearing the first day, was someone commenting that it smells like a scented candle – so that could be either good or bad. I’ve heard people say they got more tuberose than rose out of this: I don’t get that. It’s kind of like a dried, dusty rose to me. Nice daytime scent with great projection and good longevity.

I don't have a refined nose, but this doesn't smell like a single note listed. I enjoy the fragrance, but I do not smell wood, rose, or patchouli - which I don't care for. It has a dryer sheet/soapy vibe - which I also don't like, but it works for me with this one. I was going to resell it, but put it on before bed last night and I do like the smell and it was still faintly lingering when I woke up 10 hours later.

Can't really detect much rose. I'm getting some other kind of floral. Tuberose? Reminds me a little bit of L'Interdit Rouge. Kind of smells like a grape candy. It reminds me of something my mom would have worn in the 90's, probably due to the sandalwood that was also in a lot of her fragrances. I want to smell this while being hugged by an older woman wearing this more than I want to wear it on myself.

Fragrant Wood scent, luxurious and warm. I feel like I'm staying in a luxury hotel with the typical fragrant Wood smell that we often smell. Longevity on the skin is quite good, I think this is the feminine Wood scent I'm looking for. I will buy it when it starts to get cold 🤗

I have FM The Portrait of a Lady. To me the top notes smell similar. I'll wait for the middle and base to appear and compare. The Zara frag lacks depth and development than FM's, but at this price it's forgivable.

Cannot for the life of me pinpoint what it smells like, but it strongly reminds me of the safe & kind women in kindergarten or school of my 90s childhood.

I agree with Kylix, my first reaction was that it smells of tuberose. I was really looking forward to this but got thrown off my anticipation trail at first sniff. It isn’t a bad fragrance. I need to give it time to settle and a couple more sprays. It is quite potent at first and now after 10mns it has almost disappeared. I expect it to turn into a more passive skin scent over time when the trio finally makes olfactory sense. I will say the spray nozzle is excellent for a 30ml bottle. Yes there is a Carnal Flower note in this that persists somehow... tbc

I just got this today and the smell reminded me of something similar, in my collection. I have travel spray of the original Olympea, and the main accords are almost similar, with Olympea having the vanilla, salt and marine notes, but the intial spray, are very similar. I don't get any grapey scent at all in Bye Love, but the dry down is where the similarites end. But the openings are very similar.

I bought this as the suggested “this perfume reminds me of” was Lush’s Lord of Misrule. This smells NOTHING like LOM. The patchouli is there ever so slightly but only in the dry down behind lots of tang. I can’t put my finger on what these notes are, it’s sour yet floral, but not white or fresh floral. I got it in the sale but I don’t think I’ll be repurchasing. I like it, but it doesn’t wow me.

My first and last, entry and exit, quicksmart in and out from the world of Zara scents. Never again... Smells sort of boozy. Nothing like Lord of Misrule. Rather, a touch of Lust. Tuberose, Orange blossom, jasmine, patchouli, green tea, ginger & lime. On my housemate's skin there's a subtle, sweet tuberose. Dislike.

Ugh - the patchouli is so strong in this! All I can smell is a sweet rosy patchouli BOMB! It's making me queasy to be honest. The first time that I wore this, I layered it with Armani Si and got 2 compliments. Today, I wore it layered with Zara True Amore to try and tame the patchouli but to no avail. This stuff is a beast lol. Will be decluttering. Life's too short to keep a perfume and try to make it work. Luckily, it wasn't expensive.

Its an unpleasant strong patchouli scent. But the longevity is strong, i could barely washed off my hands. I could only imagine for woman over 40-50. Im gonna give it to my mum lol

Just yesterday, I visited a Zara's store here in Athens in order to try the new launches and I ended up buying this one. Funny enough, before my visit to the store I had read all the info about the fragrances here in Fragrantica and I had watched some reviews on You tube and I had other fragrances in my mind that be would be more to my liking. I tried the fragrances first on the blotters and I excluded the ones that were very, very strong and I did not like them at all. As you may already know, this set of perfumes is divived into categories (joyful, floral, gourmand, woods) and because in general terms I enjoy floral fragrances I thought that I will choose one of them, but, I finally decided to go for this one. At the beginning, it was strong but it did not repel me. After some time that it started to mellow I could get a lot of whiffs and I could say that I found it quite sexy too, and I had a long time to smell a fragrance with this characteristic, this feature. I was surprised with myself that I choose a perfume with a rose note inside because I do not like rose centered perfumes, but luckily I do not detect it at all. I have never smelled L'Interdit by Givency (none of them, the classic Edt, Rouge Ultime, Edp Intense) to verify if Bye Love is a dupe or not. Finally, I would like to say that, I truly think that this perfume is quite well made, it does not smell cheap, quite the opposite, it smells nice, and expensive as if it were a 100 euros/dollars perfume and with a very good performance/duration, so I would advice you to check the Minimal Collection out.

I can smell very distant echoes of the one and only Miss Dior Cherie in this scent, wouldn't call it a dupe, just something reminiscent of this atmosphere. I think the list of ingredients might be lacking some notes. It reminds me of perfumes that were popular back in the early 2010's, lots of patchouli, lots of flowers. I think this one besides rose also might have a hint of jasmine. It is soft and mature, very elegant.

Dominated by a note that i associate with Australian sandalwood. Used in many perfumes nowadays. It destroys for me everything containing it. Smels like some kind of solvent. Harsh and abrasive. Off-putting and noseating. Very long lasting. No roses and no patchouly (at least not the one i love). Big no for me.
