Elegantly Tokyo

got this in its new packaging from a seller online. was afraid that this would turn out sharp and pretty synthetic, but all i ever got was a sweet burst of lily and jasmine! after a few minutes, the wood comes out but the jasmine gets to stay all throughout its wear. i would say this is a very realistic scent. i live in a country where jasmine is pretty much everywhere and my mom used to have lilies in our garden- i can very much smell both of them here. for those who were afraid that this would cross the bathroom scent territory, consider this an assurance that it doesn't. lasted about 24 hours on my clothes and 8 hours on my skin. at the 16-hour mark, the scent settles into an ambery wood profile. can't wait to wear it outside! a rundown of how each note "appears": 1) lily - stays for the 1st hour. the lily in here is very dominant (up until its stay). very pretty and sweet! not as sharp as i was dreading it to be. i found comments here saying that it smells like a muji diffuser. while i haven't smelled the diffuser, i kind of get where they're coming from. i would say it manages to stay away from potentially being room spray-ish since it's not "green" enough for me. 2.) jasmine - smells so so so beautiful and clean, but still floral. it gets creamy enough later on (around 2/3 hours after) to avoid being heady. 3.) akigalawood - even though i haven't encountered akigalawood before, i've had plenty of experiences with woody and oud fragrances. upon research, i saw that it's supposed to resemble patchouli, but i honestly don't get the comparison since it's not very earthy, i would say. this appears closer to smelling like cedarwood for me. the way i interpret it is like smelling pencil shavings if it was a little bit metallic (must be the peppery aspect of akigalawood). this is more present on my skin than on clothes. my sister says that this is the only thing she smells in the air whenever i spray elegantly tokyo, which is completely different from my experience- be warned. don't overspray. tried doing this with 5 sprays in one go and i felt like i was getting strangled by numerous string bands of jasmine. overall, this is so beautiful and i can completely trace it to jo malone as i feel like it could fit in her current fragrance brand. a scent that is perfect for intimate occasions, work, and even casual days.

Jasmine has been the center of my scent profile since time immemorial, and after much sampling, hunting every Jasmine perfume I can find in my country, I'm so grateful that my search finally led me to this gem of a scent. For starters, this perfume is an intimidating white flower bomb at initial spray, a room-filling straightforward Jasmine scent that can easily frighten non-white floral fans. But despite of its over-the-top opening, the real beauty of this perfume lies in its dry down, an elegant creamy-aquatic neutered-by-Lily Jasmine scent sitting on top of its woody base. This has been my signature scent since I got this few months ago, and it easily became one of my most complimented perfumes along with my old time favorite Mugler Alien. For comparison, if Alien made me feel "out of this world" and beautifully foreign, this one made me feel like I'm "one with the world", an incarnation of a certain Flower God that leaves blossoms in its wake. Seriously, in our work facility, my colleagues always say that they can easily detect my presence and whereabouts through my lingering scent trail. And people from other department often described me as the "guy who smells good". Thanks to Elegantly Tokyo's beastly sillage and longevity. LOL! The only downside of this perfume is its affinity to temperature. At cold dry days, its dry down profile can get too zingy, feels like the Akigalawood base evokes a peppery, bitter and spicy scent. During hot humid days, sometimes the Jasmine note will have a "resurrection" moment, it'll take over the dry down scent and will act up like a fresh Jasmine that blooms in the night.

I had promised myself: never blind-buy a perfume. I am extremely picky with fragrances and blind-buying simply never works out. But in the back of my head, I remembered having read about this fragrance series and especially hearing rave reviews about Elegantly Tokyo. So when I noticed that ZARA recently restocked it, I broke my oath and placed an order... ...and I'm so glad I did! This is a lovely floral fragrance. Smoothly blended, leaning more towards the Jasmin than the Lily. Bright, invigorating, with a bit of innocent and nostalgic sweetness. It smells like laundry that has been left to try in a sunny garden. Simply gorgeous and signature-worthy. Even someone who usually doesn't gravitate towards white florals would easily love this. I prefer it over any Jo Malone fragrance, as it is much more complex and interesting. Scent-wise it is almost identical to Immortelle from Chloé's luxury range Atelier des Fleurs, but at a fraction of the cost! Elegantly Tokyo's new bottle design is also stunning. Heavy glass in an elegant shape, magnetic cap with a mirror inside, no one would ever suspect that this is a ZARA fragrance. Cannot recommend this enough, and I'm already thinking of getting a backup bottle because I will be upset when I've used up this one.

Man oh man/woman, how I love this scent. It's a smell of fresh flowers wafting in your space with that lily and jasmine so fresh it clears smog in the air and in your head. It lingers on quite some time and is super elegant and sophisticated. I also find it very unisex, even though the jasmine/lily might come off as very feminine notes, for me perfume does not really have a gender so wear what ever you want to wear, as tastes evolve and labels on things should not hold you back loving something . Besides, who the F*ck decides what you can do, wear, smell like anyway then yourself. Express yourself , even with perfume and let's start a revolution :-) Edit; since Akigalawood is in here too, which gives it this mossy scent profile, now I know why I get a light reminder of one of my favorite perfumes Cabochard , the mossiness of the Akigaliawood reminds me of the oakmoss that is used in Cabochard, but also I think in E.T there is some aldehydes and ylang-ylang mixed in there , same as in Cabochard. ( Just my opinion/cross over scent memory link )

This is undeniably nuclear - in terms of projection, silage, scent bubble, throw, longevity, length this sticks on clothes - you name it! I’ve never experienced anything like this with Zara perfumes. (I tested the version in the cylinder bottle in Zara, one spray on an a pair of trousers since there weren’t any paper blotters around. It’s been a day, I’ve had the trousers folded on a pile and it has completely filled my room with the scent, almost taking on the characteristic of a lit candle/high quality reed diffuser). Heavy white floral in the beginning, very clean but also earthy - I feel some cashmeran and the akigalawood comes through. I find akigalawood quite sharp and gives me headaches but with my chemistry, this works well. A mixture of scents - Do Son + Molecule 05 + Zarkoperfume no8 wooden chips. Leans a teeny bit masculine but personally, I gravitate to earthy - woody - floral scents, so this is great for ladies who like these scent profiles. Tested in warm weather during the day.

I have quite a few fragrances from the emotions line collab, that zara did with Jo Malone and there’s definitely a little similarity with Waterlily tea dress going on here. Although this does have a little woodiness in the dry down, that WT does not. If you liked Waterlily tea dress and even Fleur d’oranger, then chances are you’ll love this one too! They all have that simplistic but expensive smelling, clean, airy, lily vibe going on. They’re all I’ve been wearing this summer. I sprayed it this morning, it’s been a little over 4 hours so far and so far it’s still going strong. Fantastic for the price and this is where I feel Elegantly Tokyo surpasses both Fleur d’oranger and Waterlily teadress. The latter scents definitely last longer than most Zara fragrances but usually by the 4-6 hour mark, they’re becoming noticeably weaker and require a top up. Elegantly Tokyo so far, does not. I’m loving this!

Amazing!!! The scent is so elegant and beautiful, I didn't expect Zara to have such a luxurious and “Expensive” scent. I think this is one of Zara's best perfumes that you should try! People say it smells like Jasmine, but to me it's a Lily bomb. Wet Lily, it's like just been showered in the rain. I think London would be more suitable than Tokyo, this fresh, slightly green scent reminds me of London filled with fog and drizzling rain. This scent is also very luxurious and sophisticated, it reminds me of the British "Old money" style. Even though it has the city name Tokyo, I only think of London and England every time I wear it. It also reminds me of the image of bouquet of Lily placed on a cold tombstone at a funeral. Great perfume for a rainy day. Rating: 100/10, very worth the money. One of My All-time Favorite Scents, the price is very cheap, but the quality is excellent

I tried this two times at Zara and I could not get my nose off my arm. I had to rush and buy it. After I bought it I accidentaly oversprayed, and.... yeah. It was not the best experience. Very heavy white floral scent, peppery and unisex in the drydown, at least to me. People in the office noticed it too, and I just felt it was too much. After that I just broke up with it for a while. But as the summer heat creeps in more and more and I also started exercising, I started craving it. Now it's my go to clean scent. When I feel too warm, sweaty, in desperate need of a shower, or when people smell awful around me in the city... this is a beacon of hope, a clean ray of light in the dark. Clean, very dewy white flowers, and some peppery-woody elegance in the drydown. Now it's a love.

I decided I will buy it and discover it at home. *** I was listening to peaceful piano and strings music when I sprayed this perfume for the first time. About a minute after, I had a tear in my eye. It was an overwhelming feeling of fragile beauty, purity, calm, and spring surrounding me. This is the beauty of our senses, of smell and hearing, it carries us towards memories and emotions and transcends them, to each of us through a different scent, different music. Best wishes to each Person passing by and reading this. Edit: I am amazed with the longevity, after 13 hours still getting whiffs of it! This is the most bewitching jasmine on me, not the Penhaligon's, not Jo Malone's or other niche brands, it easily surpasses them - it's elegant, airy, dewy, yet intense.

Very pretty, elegant and fresh! Beautiful white florals, with a woody, green base. More of a "cold" floral, rather than "warm" if that makes sense. For a Zara perfume it also has a decent longevity and sillage (there are some Zaras that last, but a lot don't that much). My friends noticed it quickly and complimented me, that was 2-3 hours after I sprayed myself :) So far my favourite of the Zara-Jo Malone collaboration, slightly more expensive than some of the other Zara perfumes, but it's worth it for its scent and longevity. Perfect for spring especially, but it'll be good for summer and fall too (honestly, maybe even winter). Not sure if it's some placebo-like effect because of the name, but it did also remind me of my time in Japan.

the more I wear it, the more I love it. I already liked this fragrance when I first smelled it some time ago but back in the day I didn’t purchase it. This month I saw it again and I decided to get it since I still liked it and wanted something different from what I usually wear (more into gourmand). Despite the cold weather I have been using it on sunny days and I am truly obsessed, this smell is all I can think about now. It does open very strongly with the lily and jasmine notes but then it transforms into this clean and fresh scent which I assume is the akigalawood. These woody notes last the most on my clothes and hair and they are so fresh and clean and this is what makes me feel so addicted to this scent.

On first sniff from the bottle, it leaned too much on the floral side which I didn’t care for that much. Once I tested it on my skin though I was addicted. Over the first few hours there is an aura of pristine white flowers, and a personal memory of going to church on Sundays as a kid, definitely evoked by the clean wood undertone. Had to get a 30ml of this given the price and I’m only a student lol. I’ve noticed an aquatic quality when the scent receives heat and humidity which is fascinating. Overall a fascinating elegant unisex fragrance that I imagine can really evolve depending on skin chemistry. (Also evokes the same experience as Diptyque’s Do Son which was a love at first sniff for me)

Elegantly Tokyo is mature, stylish, a bit cocky. Wearing this would bring “I am someone to count” vibes. The jasmine here is not creamy at all, yes it’s loud and uplifting but none like the one you’d find in many classic/vintage jasmine fragrances. It blended really well with the wood, and overall the perfume has modern touch with hints of metallic accord and green note from the water flower. I really appreciate this perfume, it is truly a beauty, but unfortunately ET sticks strongly with hurtful moments with my ex-officemate so I’m still hesitate to wear this again. How I wish all the bad memories associated with ET will faint away by the time goes by. :)

blind bought this after i saw a tweet from a journalist interviewing dev patel where he complimented how she smelled and she commented the scent underneath lol, scent trail and sillage are INCREDIBLE, gorgeous earthy jasmine and white floral notes, up close you get more of the woodsy notes (on me it smells a little bit like driftwood? slightly aquatic?) and a little bit of bitter spice, really enjoyable nonetheless. i got mine online for 40USD which is great value for 100ml in my opinion, the bottle is surprisingly elegant with a magnetic cap, i don’t have anything else like it in my collection, really good, smells even better on your clothes

First off, Zara and Jo Malone SMASHED it with this scent and I wasn’t expecting to fall head over heels for it. It’s a magnificent white floral, slightly aquatic from the lily, but grounded perfectly from the akigalawood. Good longevity and a decently strong projection that I wasn’t expecting for the price. If you love jasmine, you’ll love this one. I knew I needed a full bottle after sniffing this in Zara. Also, there is no Oud in here. I think fragrantica messed up on the accords. Either way, if you get a chance to sniff this scent, absolutely please do. As long as Zara makes this scent, it will always be in my collection.

Light jasmine, gentle softness and sharp, woody, intoxicating, clean crispness. Probably the worst review I have ever written and sounds like something a 6 year old would say, but just know that this frag is divine. 😂 It’s very clever and smooth and creeps up on you. This is a refined lady wearing freshly pressed white shirt on a summers day. It’s perfect for all seasons as comforts in the cold and light in the summer. Utter perfection if you like soapy smells but want a little bite. Zara / Jo totally nailed this. Good for blind buying or gifting as its safe for most people and smells a lot more expensive than what it is.

As a man I really enjoyed the uniqueness of the white florals supported by a spicy sweet earthy wood, which is seldom used in western perfumery. It’s hard to find a white floral perfume that’s unisex. Don’t get fooled by some bad reviews, it’s golden without sweet vanilla, very natural niche quality, this one is a little more on the synthetic side, but for the price Jo Malone did an amazing job creating a simple green fresh floral that has this addictive peppery woody note that I feel is so addictive in contrast together. Love it, only needs a couple of sprays.

Such a unique fragrance from Zara. White florals with green leaves and stems, so realistic, I can see them in front of my eyes when I put this fragrance on. Not a love from first sniff for me, but it haunted my mind for weeks so I bought a 30ml bottle. To me, the best part about this perfume is its base - very clean and crisp akigala wood in the dry-down. Total stunner. Stays on your clothes for weeks. Good projection. Office friendly. Could pass easily as a niche frag in a blind test. Might become my new signature scent. Overall: amazing, 9.25/10

Such an elegant perfume, the name is very fitting as it also does remind me of my time in Japan. It's a very 'cold', gorgeous white floral, suitable for many occasions. It also has quite good longevity and projection and I received many compliments from friends. It's one of the most long lasting and strong Zara perfumes, it's so worth it! I got only the 30 ml bottle but I'll definitely get the 100 ml one after I use this one up. If you like white florals and you want something a bit different I definitely recommend checking it out :)

I acquired this perfume in a lucky exchange here at Fragântica. Imagine an elegant, fresh, and delicious scent? This is it. This perfume is a blend of watery notes, super fresh and totally enveloping, with a white florality, which comes from an abundant blend of a greenish lily, with a bright and vibrant jasmine, along with notes of a juicy, and watery pear. This little darling is a gem, I'm in love. It's a very musky, fresh, and striking scent. It has incredible staying power and projection on my skin. Divine perfume!

I loove this! Both my boyfriend and I wear it so it's definitely unisex. It's super fresh and clean, kind of smells green at the beginning. It's white florals, a bit of very soft woodiness... It's hard for me to describe it actually, but I imagine a laid back woman with stunning shiny soft hair, wearing a white linen shirt or a cream JCrew sweather. It makes you smell so fresh and polished, but it is comfortable and easy at the same time. It's definitely my current every day go-to, and it makes me feel very confident.

Amazing! What a surprise. Blind bought it based on reviews and it is really great, just right up my alley with a lovely lily and clean fresh jasmine. It slightly resembles my beloved Jasmin Kusamono from Armani Privé, but is at a fraction of the price. I also find that the Jo Malone creations for Zara are way better in terms of performance than those under the Jo Malone brand. I am so happy that not only Elegantly Tokyo is available again, but also Waterlily Teadress which is also really good.

The perfect white floral to ease in non-white floral fans. The jasmine is almost milky, but neutered (aka not indolic). The lily adds a crisp greenness, and the overall effect is a pretty realistic white floral, just on the cusp of ripeness, but not quite. Easily more than the sum of its parts. It manages to be both fresh and rich at the same time. As a dude, I like this layered on top of my more traditionally masculine scents. A particularly great combo is this and Versace Eau Fraiche.

It’s definitely reminiscent of other Jo Malone x Zara fragrances that are white flowers focused, like Tubereuse Noir: they manage to make a fragrance that’s very straightforwardly floral into a very unisex fragrance. The floral notes here seem so fresh and pure that it’s almost not even a perfume anymore, but just the pure fragrance of the flowers in bloom in its purest form. Almost slightly animalic in its purity. Like a beautiful summer night. It smells fresh, clean and expensive.

i've loved this perfume since the first time i blind bought it almost two years ago. this perfume has become my signature scent - very fresh, and clean, but like in a subtle way (?), yet very noticeable and elegant. i really do wear this scent a lot, and i absolutely adore it. my current bottle is halfway done and i recently found out it’s no longer being sold in my country :(. so now idk what to do because i can’t seem to find another perfume with the exact same notes :/

The Elixir version lists added notes of cherry blossom and bamboo. It’s a very similar scent to the EDP, but the bamboo really is very notable, much more than the akigalawood is in the original. The lasting power on the elixir is really long lasting – eternal, as Fragrantica would describe it. In my opinion, the elixir is a less floral, more woody (bamboo wood, that is), longer lasting version of the original. I don’t really pick up on the cherry blossom.

I think that it's my most used, most complimented and repurchased perfume. ZARA really nailed it with this collection. It makes everybody happy and everybody asking what it is. It's a luxurious clean but sexy shower, a loving hug but amazingly fresh at the same time... after the quite sharp opening, this is one of the best clean/sexy scents out there that doesn't resemble detergent. Flowery but not overwhelming, great for any occasion...

Made an account to comment just for this perfume after seeing some comments saying that this smells like feces or public bathroom. I think those commenters should get their nose checked instead! Elegantly Tokyo smells great, very flowery & feminine (I love the Jasmine note). I instantly bought it because it reminded me of Alien by Mugler. It smells amazing and for 25€ I think it's a very good deal. I will definitely buy it again!

Loved it when I smelled it from a bottle at a store. Then sprayed it on me and at first it had a weird poopy flowery smell, so I didn’t purchase it. As it dried down (about 10 min) the perfume became beautifully flowery. It lasted on me for about 6 hours. A bit sad now that I didn’t purchase it. I guess it’s my favourite from the Jo Malone series. I would say it’s more feminine than unisex. Mostly a flowery scent. 🌸 8/10 from me

I really love a jasmine scent and this is exactly it. It reminds me of the London Burberry scent. Imagine as if it just rained in a jasmine garden and the air is still cold and wet and you take a deep breath. It smells photorealistic, therefore a bit linear, however, if you enjoy white flowers and jasmine, you should give this a try. Edit: I miss this one so much, I only had a mini size so I will be getting a FB for spring!

This smells like a buttery tuberose with a hint of green, mossy darkness. It's a very elegant white floral perfume. It's not powdery or harsh. The white floral is very buttery and does not overwhelm the nose. This smells very similar to Tubereuse Noir, but I like the dry down on this one more. Tubereuse Noir seemed to have a harsher peppery base. Smell: 10 out of 10 Strength: 7 out of 10 Feminine For reference, I'm female.

This is a very heavy but beautiful white floral scent. The first spray smells like night blooming jasmines. At first I even detected a tuberose like quality, reminded me of YSL Supreme Bouquet but there was none of the sweetness that Supreme Bouquet has, on the contrary it is much more earthier and foresty. The drydown smells exactly like fresh black pepper grounds and woods. Overall a beautiful fragrance.

I loooove love love love this perfume! just like my username I'm very much a jasmine gal and this one I think is a more jasmine tea scent. First spray smells like jasmine and lily, on the dry down is more comfy jasmine tea. My everyday perfume since the price is not too high! The longevity is fine, much better than most Zara perfumes. I will get the elixir one day and I think the longevity is even better!

This is probably one of the best Zara perfumes I've ever smelled. My mom first introduced it to me after she smelled a woman wearing it at her workplace. I went in person to smell it and I fell in love with it. Although there's only 3 notes listed, this perfume is so complex and smells beautiful. The first time I wore it, I got so many compliments! I love how the jasmine presents in this fragrance.

This is a reallly great scent, one of the best of the Jo Malone/Zara collaboration. Here in humid Florida I get exactly what the notes say to expect, green Lily, non-indolic Jasmine, and peppery Akigala wood. All facets last through the length of the fragrance—which lasts noticeably until the next day or longer on clothes without becoming overpowering.

A very beautiful, feminine, white flower scent. To me the jasmine is predominant, but you can sense the lily somewhere in the background, maybe even a hint of grapefruit? I love this profile scent, especially for summer and don't find it matronly. It does remind me a bit of Infusion de Fleur d'Oranger from Prada. Amazing performance (10-12+ hrs.).

This is suuuuuuch a beautiful perfume i don’t know how it manages to be so floral but so green and so watery but so dry, a tiny bit salty to my nose too. Lasts forever on clothing. on first encounter could be mistaken for costing 5-10x the price. Have been choked out by this one before though on public transport though so beware of overspraying

when I spray, the book "The Unbearable Lightness of Being" by Kundera comes to mind. I imagine one of the characters there, Theresa, smelling like this. This scent is contradicting. Light but still manages to be fully present in the air. Feminine, but in a "don't mess with me" way. Floral and dark, maybe because of the night blooming jasmine.

I LOVE THISSSSS FRAGRANCE SO MUCHH! its the best fragrance on the line, the lily note in this perfume is amazing, its a sweet floral green scent. Its very strong and it will leave your trace when you're wearing this, i got lots of compliment when i use this, this reminds me of having a lunch date on a spring day!

I hate the smell of elegantly Tokyo during the first 2 weeks of acquiring it because of a very strong scent. It's kind of headache inducing perfume. However, after maybe a month of not using it, the scent became lighter and fresher now. It has this calming effect rather than what I experienced previously.

This scent is a pleasingly pretty white floral bomb. You can smell the jasmine note dominantly upon the first spray with a little bit hint of lily. I guess the lily note is definitely the one that makes this fragrance feels a bit breezy. The SPL of this fragrance is also a beast, lasted on me for 10+ hrs.

Beautiful scent. Just like its name, Elegantly Tokyo. It is elegant and modern. Clean, fresh, crisp. Perfect for spring and summer. I was grocery when I wore this, a lady stopped me and asked what was I wearing. She said she smelled me and had to ask. It lasts about more than four hours on me.

What a wonderful fragrance! I have crossed out “Tokyo” on my bottle and replaced it with “Varanasi”. To me, this scent is quintessentially Indian. Two sprays is enough to get exquisite uplifting whiffs throughout the day. Suitable for daytime and evening wear and for all seasons. Five stars.

I just recieved the Elixer version and I fell in love with it. Think of white flowers that are floating on a river in heaven. Really fresh and just like its name, ultra elegant. Can’t compare it to the EDP but this one strong and the scent trail is exceptional. For the price, a no brainer.

I absolutely love this. This is what I thought L'Eau d'Issey would smell. It's sweet, mild, kinda fresh. It's surprinsingly long lasting as well, although the sillage may seem a little weak. White florals are usually very femenine but I can see myself wearing this every day.
