Energetically New York Elixir

This is a very masculine fragrance. I can’t clearly identify every single note, but the “pickle” comment that many people mention might actually come from the cardamom note. To me, it smells more like freshly chopped green herbs when preparing a salad. So when people say “pickle,” don’t imagine a sour or fermented smell. It is a well-balanced scent. In this fragrance, I also get a note similar to Kenzo Homme EDP. As I mentioned before, it reminds me of slightly green and a bit parsley. It’s hard to describe exactly, but it smells really nice. Leather, sandalwood and jasmine stay together in the background as a soft nuance. Ambergris and cedarwood notes are not listed, but I can definitely smell them. Overall, it can be described as a woody and spicy masculine fragrance. As soon as I enter a room, people ask if I changed my perfume because the sillage is quite strong, and it leaves a noticeable trail when you walk by. The longevity is easily better than most designer fragrances. If you like YSL La Nuit de l'Homme, Gris Charnel(Without fig) or/and MB Emblem, I think you will definitely enjoy this fragrance. Personally, I can’t imagine this scent on a woman. For this price range, it is a high level p/p fragrance. It can be worn in almost any environment and in every season except very hot summer days. Definitely worth trying.

I received it today, and I wore it doing errands. I was at a gas station for my first stop and I got a compliment from a young lady working there. Out of the blue she said you smell really good. The second one was at Target 20 minutes later. This is one of two only that garner such reactions from people, the other one being Bois Imperial from Essential Parfums. I guess woody scents is something people like...and I like them too. Aside from compliments, this is definitely in the same genre as Le Labo Santal 33. This one is softer, sweeter, and less divisive. I like sandalwood so no surprise that I like it here too, as it comes across like a creamy sweet woody molecule scent. I think I like the scent profile more than Santal 33, and despite having both, I will buy this one again and not the Le Labo.

People tend to compare it to Santal 33. I don't really smell the similarity on my skin. On testers and skin, santal 33 smells like straight up wood and paper. The Energetically New York Elixir smells much sweeter, spicier, and it feels like it has character. It doesn't smell as vibrant as the non elixir version, but it smells great none-the-less and I think it smells a bit better than the non elixir version because it is a bit more subtle. I got 2 bottles of the 100ml stuff. Great fragrance and I hope Zara doesn't discontinue it. Regarding the pickleish scent, I don't smell it. After some wear down I could somewhat smell the dill scent, but not pickles at all. The dry down smells somewhat linear, but sandalwood is very prominent at the end. It lasts absolutely forever btw.

I was at first not especially drawn to this one but I'm very glad I bought it. Hands down the most compliments of any perfume ever, no lies! Maybe its my own scent that works well with it, I have no idea. Yes, very Santal33 (can't afford). Seems very simple and nodescript at first but its actually a grower not a shower. It has that leathery hum of Cabochard,, but at arms length, and a quite upfront floral signature. The opening is spicy and a lovely dry woods, which weirdly at first seems transient but isn't at all, it deepens slowly and beautifully. Quite a remarkably good scent, I love it. I put it in the same ball park as Terre de Hermes. I'm going to get another bottle before they water it down or toy with it as they are wont to do. Savages.

A wetter, juicier take on the Santal 33 DNA. A sour citrus opening lingers alongside the distinctive cardamom and jasmine heart throughout the wear, with a less photorealistic sandalwood and leather base. A hearty dose of ambroxan gives it solid longevity, and projection seems ample. Development stays relatively linear — which is actually a plus, since it preserves that citrus top note all the way to the end. People say “pickles,” but to my nose it’s more like fresh cucumber with a splash of lime juice — like those snacks you get in Mexico. Feels more like a flanker than a dupe — and a pretty good one at that.
