Energetically New York

just works beautifully with my skin chemistry. my first ever "signature scent", firstly due to its elegant sandalwood dry-down, secondly because of its curated choice of only three (very harmonious, simultaneously fresh and spicy) notes, and thirdly because it's the only perfume i can afford to regularly repurchase. i have received countless compliments for this scent, but there's one i will never forget. on christmas day last year, with no family to go to, i was wearing it while sitting with a close friend on a beach in viareggio, a tuscan town by the tyrrhenian sea. a mild ten degrees celsius (strange for me, who has grown up in a colder climate), clear skies, the sea turning translucent under the weight of the setting sun, we were drinking cheap wine and eating pistachio ice cream when a middle-aged woman passed us with her dog. she had already walked by us by a good bit when she turned around, came up to us, and said, "one of you smells wonderful." we let her smell our wrists. pointing at me, she said, "it's you!" i pulled up a screenshot of this perfume, which she - endearingly - took a picture of with her phone. she wished us a merry christmas when she left. it was a very tender moment on a rather melancholic day.

I didn't expect to like this, I smelt it in the store from the bottle and I thought "meh" and i put it down. I decided to try it on my skin the next time I was at Zara and I couldn't stop myself from sniffing my arm all day with this on!! I went back to buy it. At first, it's a big hit of spicy bergamont and citrus, but the woody sandalwood dry down is where it's at, and I'm addicted. I didn't even know about Le Labo at this point even though I've walked by the Le Labo stores a million times but thought it was too stuck-up to go in. After reading reviews about this being a dupe of Santal 33, I have to try the real thing and I did, I fell in love with Santal 33 as well and bought 100ml of it during Black Friday. I love both Energetically NY and Santal 33. On me, the silage is moderate and the longivity is around 6 hours mark. Santal 33 has stronger silage and longevity on me 8-10 hours, but at that point the dry down is the same and the complexity is gone. I would say this is like a flanker of Santal 33 — a brighter linear sibling for day time and Santal 33 is the older more complex sibling for night time. But for a fraction of Le Labo's price, Energetically New York is a definitely a great buy!

This stuff is bussin!!! Picture this: You spray this on your first day and you are literally transported on a sunny day in an island, hot outside but the good kind, sippin on some cocktails then you are hungry, you do not like the menu in the bar full of junk food. Then you notice they have cucumber salad, you accept, you try the cucumber it smells wonderful, you go to enjoy your cucumber salad, anyways you go in the beach, you smell the ocean breeze, its so refreshing then you go to the forest and smell some jasmines, sandalwood and cardamom around you. Jokes aside, this is such a great fragrance, i have never tried a zara fragrance before and this stuff is magical, it's so nice just smelling the bottle cap everytime transports me to that island. This is a refreshing aquatic fragrance, yeah it has cucumber notes for me but the jasmine, cardamom and sandalwood are coming right away, definitely give it a try, in my opinion it's a safe buy but not for those that don't like cucumber scent haha. The price? Amazing just 30 euros!!! 10/10, it's an all rounder daily fragrance, all occasional fragrance for everywhere. Great alternative when it comes to searching for a daily frag. Overall: 8/10.

I bought it spontaneously. I was in a bad mood, went to Zara, smelled it, paid, left. I didn't even know at the time that it was supposed to be a dupe for Santal 33. Honestly, at first, I found myself with an average attitude toward it. I smelled the sandalwood, sort of liked it, but at that time I was wondering why I actually bought it lol Everything changed after the first tests in the colder weather. This perfume smells COMPLETELY different when it's cold, cloudy, and rainy outside. I don't smell pickled cucumber or detergents at all here. Instead, I lose myself in the creamy, sweet sandalwood, combined with the warmth of cardamom and oh my goodness, how beautiful it is. Also, I like to mix it with Molecule 01 and always get LOTS of compliments wearing this blend. When it comes to the comparison to Santal 33, ok, we have the same DNA here, but I wouldn't say it's a faithful copy of Le Labo's creation. Imo Santal 33 is much softer (at least on my skin). Nevertheless, if you like Santal 33 and don't want to lose a fortune, I would go for the cheaper alternative from Zara.

This is beautiful and very well blended, especially in comparison to other Zara fragrances (I absolutely despised Gardenia, orchid and femme - all of which smelled very cheap to me). Due to the cardamom and sandalwood notes, it has a similar vibe as Crystal Noir EDP. It’s definitely not a dupe, I’d rather say it’s the fresh and slightly sharper (not in a bad way) cousin of Crystal Noir. I don’t know why, but somehow I’d say CN is the creamy yet mysterious femme fatale in a black and classy dress, whereas Energetically New York is a well groomed, sophisticated person who likes to take walks in the rain and has a great taste in fashion. If you like CN and you were looking for a more unisex take on it that is suitable for all seasons, I’d recommend giving this a sniff. Can’t compare it to Santal 33 as I never owned it.

i'd say it's a very nice unisex smell. simple, the notes say it all, although there is some richness and depth here. putting it on is like coming back home after having a walk through a snowy forest - lungs full of conifer-soaked air, you're feeling energized and refreshed, wrapping yourself into a warm cashmere sweater while your hair still smells like ozone and frost and lighting up a cardamom candle while holding a cup of jasmine tea. and the best part is that you will be feeling like that throughout the entire day. seriously, it lasts forever! it's such an elegant smell and it layers beautifully with sublime epoque from zara or velvet rose & oud from jo malone. definitely one of my favourites.

I am addicted to this juice ever since I first smelled it! It reminds me of a lighter and more feminine version of Santal 33 by LeLabo, though If I am honest, I much prefer this. When I first sampled it I truly wasn't expecting much especially given Jo Malone's previous collab with Zara, where I found the scents and their performance pretty average - but this - wow! I am not exaggerating when I say I can smell this on my clothes the next day and on my skin for several hours, projection though is pretty close to the skin. Maybe it is skin dependent as I see people have very different experiences with this.

I don't want to commit hubris by saying that this slightly reminds me of my favorite Sellier by Byredo, but it kind of does. There is something leathery about it even though leather is not in the ingredients. Sellier is my go-to dark academia scent but this is not too bad for this purpose either. I'll try to layer it with Halfeti and an old bottle of Body Shop's Brazil Nut to complete the coffee by the fire in an old library vibe. I'm very happy with this. Now, Santal 33, which people also compare to Sellier, I didn't like.

It's a very strong jasmine and sandalwood mix really and it's really delightful. I do think energetic is the right word for some reason. It feels exciting, even though honestly it's fairly simple. There's just something exuberant about it and you feel fresh putting it on. And in general Zara prices can't be beat so you're going to get a great value here. Bought it back in 2022, and I loved the smell so much that I bought the 100ml bottle, and used it as a more refreshing and unisex option in my collection. Fast forward to 2025/2026, halfway through the bottle, the smell has definitely changed, with the sandalwood smell gone and something slightly acidic has come up. The bottle has been kept in the closet away from sunlight, so it is rather saddening.

New York a very clean and refreshing sandalwood scent for me, I don't get the dill note that some people are mentioning. I really love this and find it really relaxing to wear, especially in the heat. I didn't realize it had jasmine listed as a note, I get a very linear Sandalwood/Cardamon scent. I've almost used a whole large bottle and am thinking of getting a second for summer.

This fragrance really grows on me! I didn't like it when I first tried on in a Zara shop, it smelled like still water and too masculine for me...but when I got home, the dry down scent was awesome and I got complimented a lot when I sprayed it on my shirt. I had to go back to the shop and buy it! It smells awesome and energetic as it's named! It's now one of my to-go fragrances.

What a clean woody fragrance. It has a smooth woody fragrance, it has a little bit flowery and brings watery vibes. It's so cozy for rainy days or winter times, and it still appropriate for a night in tropical country. It's unisex, everyone can wear it. It's smell so cool. It's really cool, when you wear it to the office or formal occasion.

Fantastic. Cucumbery exit, not a thick sandalwood. Clean & refreshing. I feel it sits between santal and imagination (or aqua dubai more specifically). This lasts longs with a moderate projection which makes it ideal as a day summer spring fragrance when you dont want to feel heavy. Will try layering it with sunrise at the red sun dunes.

This was a very popular and sought after scent by Zara in collaboration with Jo Loves’ Jo Malone herself. It’s so good I ended up with 3 bottles. I most definitely smells very similar to Santal33 from Le Labo during the drydown. If you can still find this, just get it... It is like getting Santal33 at 90% off!

I didnt notice jasmine in this fragrance. It’s truly sandalwood and cardamom, and remind me to Santal33. When dry down, its leave a spicy sandalwood on my skin. The longevity and sillage is very great. I wearing this 11am to 7pm, I still smell it all day. Worth to buy !

I'm so in love with this and it's become by daily go-to. It smells almost bitter(?) to me, which i looove, but also complex, masculine, but not overly so. I frequently layer it with ck one, and together they smell incredible. Have repurchashed and will again.

Soothing cardamom fragrances both... energetically NY and creatively shanghai... I love cardamom in my tea, pudding also in some kinds of cakes.. Its like cinnamon to west... It's fragrance in Indian houses is most soothing cosy and attractive.. 🥰 🥰

Very versatile and energizing for all year. This is my unisex no-sweet summer choice for special occasions, but for everyday use I enjoy Natura Kaiak O2 (which is fresh, spicy and longlasting).

I'm not a big fan of unisex perfumes but wow this one is definitely unique. I fell in love as soon as I smelled it. As someone in the comments mentioned, definitely a girl boss fragrance.

Sandalwood and jasmine greatly mixed together. In my skin, at first the jasmine is clearly dominant. After an hour, the spicy part comes forward adding a lovely warmth. Love this.

While high street perfumes tend to be of little interest to me, I am always keen to try Jo Malone's creations for Zara. Her original Zara Emotions line were simple, good-quality colognes, in keeping with her style. I bought a discovery set of her cities collection for Zara, and silly names aside, they are simple, pleasant compositions for the most part. The city inspirations are irregular, but in the case of Energetically New York, a smooth, unisex woody scent is fitting for its New York inspiration, home of cult favourite Le Labo Santal 33. It would fit in seamlessly with Maison Margiela's Replica line (it reminds me somewhat of Replica Autumn Vibes). ENY is woody from initial spray, with smooth sandalwood forming the backbone of this scent. It is the harsher Australian sandalwood that is used here (the beautiful Mysore variety is relegated to vintage scents now), but it is pleasant and smooth. The cardamom adds peppery spice from the early stages, lending an aromatic edge to the woody notes. As it develops, clean jasmine adds creamy smoothness, complementing the woody notes beautifully. It becomes dark and mossy, even slightly murky as it dries down. I get some patchouli here. There is a salty, marine quality to ENY at its later stages - an unexpected development. This brings it to bog-like territory - earthy, damp, woody and slightly vegetal. I don't dislike it - it is like a creative riff on a chypre. It fades to a dry, woody skin scent with cardamom remaining until the end. It goes a little thin here, and lingers for hours. Sillage is moderate and longevity is long-lasting, and it is a year-round daytime scent. A unisex woody scent punctuated with aromatic spiciness throughout, ENY is a slightly unusual, good-quality creation that, while not a crowdpleaser, would be effortlessly cool on the right person. Not a dupe for Santal 33, but an interesting scent in its own right. 3.5/5.

This is actually the first Zara perfume I’ve ever bought mainly because Jo Malone is the perfumer, and the new bottle design for this collection looks much better than before. It even comes with a magnetic cap, which feels quite premium for the price. (The only downside is that the label on my bottle was applied a little crooked.) Now, about the scent The opening is slightly sour I’m not sure if it’s because my bottle hasn’t fully settled yet. After a short while, it becomes filled with the spicy warmth of cardamom; I can clearly smell the spices. In the heart, sandalwood comes through, along with something that softens the scent maybe jasmine. The mid-phase is my favorite part: the cardamom becomes lighter, the woody notes take the lead without smelling too dry, and a gentle floral nuance rounds everything out nicely. On the dry down, it turns into a soft sandalwood scent that somehow gives off an aquatic vibe on my skin, even though there are no aquatic notes listed but yes, it’s still sandalwood at its core. Summary : New York is a straightforward scent in true Jo Malone / Jo Loves style. It’s absolutely worth the price and one of Zara’s better perfumes. P.S. I tried layering it with Orphéon, and it turned out beautifully.

The opening of this is fresh and spicy (subtle, but not too subtle) and gives me a similar vibe to the somewhat peppery opening of Burberry Brit for her (not that they are the same–they definitely are not at all), but with amped up citrus and spice, and none of the sweetness. BB is my FAVOURITE fragrance for chilly, gloomy fall days, but it's lasting power sucks, and I hate how quickly the sharp, fresh, peppery-ness that I get (which is not listed in the scent notes) dissipates. Unlike BB, the sharp freshness & spice in Energetically New York remains throughout the lifespan of the fragrance. I think these two fragrances would be beautiful layered for a more feminine feel, especially when the soft pear and vanilla-y drydown of BB kicks in against the fresh, spicy, woodiness of ENW. I think I've found my new go-to for the fall with this one! Definitely a unisex fragrance, leaning more masculine on it's own. Update: I really do love this layering combination, especially with a vanilla body cream underneath. Just a kiss of ENY (it is quite potent) and then a generous misting of BB makes this *chefs kiss*.

I have a love-hate relationship with this fragrance. it starts off very citrusy and powdery (idk why citrus isn't listed in the notes tho) after a couple of minutes it becomes very sandalwood. a nice fresh, woody, and powdery scent. very potent and leaves a trail. this perfume is nice when you just smell it in the air (like when you walk by someone wearing this) but when you're in an intimate situation with just a small amount of people this perfume becomes overly alcoholic and strong which is this perfumes only problem. I would only wear this for walking around (shopping, getting coffee, going to the mall, etc) overall go just not for intimate situations.

Not sure if it's the batch I got twice in a row, but to me this doesn't smell like a dupe of Santal33 which used to be my signature scent. I stopped wearing the Santal33 it as the creaminess got a bit sickly for me personally after wearing it everyday, though I did still get a lot of compliments. I like spraying Energetically New York on my clothes in my wardrobe as it gives them a fresh scent that lasts forever. It definitely smells better once it's dried down. I can see the similarities between this and Santal 33 but this one is more fresh and sharp than the 33. Definitely don't overspray this one, and give it time to settle, a little goes a long way.

it is similar to santal 33, perhaps a bit lighter. good quality , good blend and the newer versions come with magnetic caps which is great! I recommend trying it first since, just like with santal 33, the opening can smell a bit weird for some people. However it is one of those fragrances which if you like it, it is very pleasant and easy to wear. Is a very close skin scent after like 40 minutes , basically performs like a body lotion. Lasts about 4/5 hours but is nearly imperceptible unless you stick your nose in your skin. I think it’s more of a warm day fragrance but it can be used at anytime really. 100% unisex too.

I am here again with an update. I ended up getting the 30ml, I love it! On my skin this is Lattafa Liam Grey - a cozy fig Sandalwood fragrance. Perfectly unisex, easier wear than let's say Red Temptation Sandalwood. I went to Prague the other day and sprayed it again on my hand. Right off the bat I didn't care much for it. But as the night went on I kept sniffing my arm. It turned so nice and creamy on me. I had a similar experience with Ebony Wood which is now my signature fragrances and the first perfume in my life where I bought backups of. I am curious to see if I end up being as crazy for ENY as for EW.

I got a mini size from the new round bottle and I have to say that the initial sniff reminds me very much of Lattafa Liam Grey (I am suprised nobody else said this but our noses are very different I guess). It has the same creamy, deep vibe to it, that has just a touch of spice to warm the fragrance up a little. Even though they don't really have the same notes, to me it is 90% the same experience. I get even some fruity, fig note when I smell it. On my skin it doesn't turn weird, pickle like (like others said). I sold Liam and kinda regretted it so I am happy to have this little gem instead.

Am I the only one getting a sharp citrus or something in the opening? It's not the cardamom. It's quite pronounced too, so much so I barely get any jasmine, if at all. I definitely get the nod to Santal 33 in the drydown, but this one I feel is muskier, more feminine. But these two perfumes are composed so differently it wouldn't be right to call one a dupe of the other. Santal 33 is superior in every way, but for the price, Energetically New York is a steal (if only I can skip the ridiculously sharp opening and get straight to the sandalwood).

I very much enjoy this type of spicy sandalwood scent. There is a blast of alcohol upon first spray, not pleasant, but after that it becomes brighter and approachable, slightly reminds me of other santal-like fragrances but this one is much simpler which is nice in itself. Turns cool musky, and slightly leathery in the dry down, very close to the skin. I like to travel with Zara fragrances they are inexpensive so you won’t miss if it gets misplaced and it does a good job at making you smell great on the road so its good value for money.

I picked up the new bottle of Zara's Energetically New York during a mid-April trip to Kyoto. It harmonizes beautifully with the spring ambiance and the occasionally warm pre-summer days, offering a fresh essence reminiscent of a dampened white shirt with a heart of floral notes. It’s truly lovely. However, upon returning to my hometown in China, the air pollution somewhat obscured the delicate nuances of the scent, making it harder to appreciate. It's a reminder that enjoyment of a fragrance can vary with the setting.

I get a very strong cucumber note when I first sprayed it. Quite like it surprisingly, the cardamom comes in after, gives it a bit of a spiced herbaceous kick which stays for the next few hours. I can't smell much of the sandalwood though, mostly smells like a fresh aquatic perfume, not one her generic blue ones, but really fresh and water aquatic like. One of my favourite fragrances, definitely got to reapply or overspray for it to last a bit longer. It is definitely overpriced as compared to the previous years.

Went to Zara to buy another beautiful flowery perfume but ended up with this one haha. Completely different from the perfumes I usually wear, but it’s really nice. Mostly woody and fresh. Love the subtle jasmine in it. Definitely not a girly scent. I feel like it’s a perfume for a confident woman, but definitely unisex so men can wear it as well. This perfume makes me feel business-y. 👩🏼💼 But my husband says it smells metallic and sour and he is not the biggest fan of it (he’d give it a 5/10) 7/10 from me

Yup, a lot like Santal 33 which I happened to have on my other wrist. It’s not as powerful, projects less, and it’s fresher, and doesn’t have the delicious mild sweetness that Santal 33 has. That being said this one is a natural beauty, it is woody, fresh and I sense some musk in the base. Amazing quality for the price and had to have it, together with the London one. Zara really outdid themselves with this line, this and the first emotions x Jo line are the best if the Jo collabs imo.

When I sprayed in the air and wave my arms through it, I like the scent and it smells nice. However, when I sprayed it on my wrist, oh I don't like it. It is the cucumber smell. I blindly bought this 75ml mainly for the sandlewood note, but it turns out there is not much sandlewood smell, sadly. Truely unisex. Overall, it is clean, fresh, not sweet, not strong and nice. If a man is wearing this, I would feel this guy is clean. I might also use it as home fragrance to improve mood.

lately i keep going into zara just to sniff this. haven’t bought it yet but i really like the scent of energetically new york. it’s soft, green, sporty, super unisex and still unique. feels perfect for daily wear and indoor settings. some people said it leans too masculine but in my opinion, it’s perfectly balanced and really calming. works super well on clothes too. i think it’s wearable year-round, but especially nice in airy, breezy days. i’m this close to buying it!

This is quite a gentle, green aromatic scent. I don't normally like green, herbal scents as I find them too harsh, but this is quite soft and understated. It's pleasant, but not something I would consider to be 'signature scent' worthy. It is an easy reach for daily use, but there is something about it that gives me dill pickle in the dry down. It's not a strong pickle scent by any means, it's like a nod to pickle. As someone who isn't a pickle fan, it put me off.

Got this because someone said it’s very similar to Santal 33 and while it’s not an exact dupe, I totally get the similarities. I enjoy this and find that it’s a great value-for-money, slightly edgy scent. To me, it’s a tiny bit more feminine than Santal 33. Though the scent feels more like a cool weather scent, I actually wore this on a beach vacation and found it to have great projection and longevity in warm weather (or sweaty skin).

This skewed masculine on me, but the powdery, spicy dry-down is slowly growing on me. A bit too aquatic, but there are some beautiful notes in here that will play well with others. Not a safe blind buy, but I am excited to see what I can layer it with. ETA: I smell the the infamous pickles other reviews speak of! "Luxury" pickles :-)

I own both Energetically New York and Le Labo Santal 33 and to me they're the same vibe. Maybe not exactly the same but they're close. Santal 33 is more leathery to me whereas Energetically New York is more of a creamy santal. It lasts forever and is quite pleasant. Not as strong as Le Labo Santal 33 which is a good thing to me.

Surprisingly very nice. Opening is very aquatic and as many say, fresh cucumber. After some hour it sets down to a very nice sandalwood which lasts for hours with a soft projection. A bargain for the price. But smells nothing like Santal 33 which many compare it with. Which is a good thing since i do not like Santal 33.

Smells like pickles in the drydown, but if you refuse to make that comparison it's a very unisex, woody, fall fragrance. Not overwhelmingly spicy and quite wearable. I haven't smelled Santal 33 but by the notes I can definitely see how they can be similar
