Exotic Mimosa

This is a beautiful powdery mimosa sold for a ridiculous price! It's that type of extremely powdery scent that has a green allure about it, dewy but at the same time very dusty, centered on a quite realistic mimosa and with a base of liquid, not too sweet yellow honey. Chic and nostalgic, I like it! It is now on sale at Zara for only 8,00€, many in their catalog now are (even Red Tempation and the Jo Malone collabs) so I thought to leave my review, maybe it can be of some help. I think it's well done, sure the mimosa note could have been less synthetic but for the price it's a gem, and it's longlasting too for being a Zara cube. I can not go so far as to compare it with serious perfumes, but this is a mimosa surrounded by green, not the usual powder or heliotrope centered, which is more difficoult to find in the low cost market, well...mimosa in general kinda is! It opens with strong bergamot and green grassy notes, they are not herbaceous or fresh spicy but simply green and dewy; they support a vivid powdery accord, reminiscent of talc and baby wipes as almost all powdery notes can be but in this case it's seriously well done to the point it remainded me of the powdery aspects of Infusion d'Iris by Prada (both first and second edition) and of the powdery parts of Blu Indaco from Giardini di Toscana, it's a quite luxurious powder. Now, the powdery notes never fade away but in their midst a strong mimosa starts to shine! It is vivid, solar and full of pollen, very realistic. It's all blossoms in this one ( in respect to Zara Boldly Seoul that has the foliage too), it is intense and warm but some freshness from the opening notes can still be appreciated. It is honeyed, powdery and lightly sweet as real mimosa is, but this three aspects are all the more accentuated by the dusty accord and by the strong base of honey. The kind of honey used is very strong, it smells to me like a mix between acacia (black locust) honey, chestnuts flowers honey and classic milleflora honey, so it's not extremely sweet. It appears as glossy and liquid in consistence, not sticky at all and not even syrupy, but more gelly like in consistence, its sweetness is more nectar then proper sugary honey; it is also a clean honey with nothing animalic or dirty about it, a different kind of honey from the usual type of honey a la Scandal that the low cost perfumes often have. With the addition of the honey an ambrosia of mimosa is created, the scent stabilizes on it without evolving further, if not only for a bit of musk; at the start of the dry down fase a very light fruity facet can be appreciated, as if the most light touch of cassis is present in the mix. The proper dry down, that part that is only intimate, is still honeyed but without the fruity touch and less powdery. This scent beheves very differently based on weather and on its maceration. When I first tried it in store almost a year ago it was only powdery to the point of nausea and the mimosa very light, no green notes or honey; when I bought it and used right away during winter it was only lightly powdery, very strongly mimosa based (almost a solinote), very green and without honey. Reusing it now, during summer and after months of maceration, there are all the declared notes and more. It lasts for six to seven hours on me, with moderate projection. Packaging is simple but cute, with a fake cork cap and the outer box decorated with flowers motifs. The vibes it gives are solar and warm, it is a summer like mimosa but I would not say it is exotic! It's actually very clean since it has strong powdery notes and the honey is clear, like all mimosa based/mimosa soliflore fragrances I think it's extremely graceful, romantic and radiant. Personally I can feel some malinchony in it too, it is always so with the mimosa, specially because here it is paired with the green notes and an honey that never truly reaches its sweet and sugary potential. Personally I see mimosa as delicate and ephemeral...it tends to destroy so soon in our hands even though in truth it is extremely resilient, flowering even in winter; usually it makes me nostalgic and sad in a romantic kinda of way since I grew up in a home garden full of it, where I spent many days of solitude and emotional pain as a child, but if I put aside my personal experience... what is more graceful and romantic then smelling like mimosa? It's simply stunning, sourrounds you with peaceful vibes and with a fragile, moving beauty. Compared to Zara Boldly Seoul I think this one is much more powdery, Boldly Seul is more photorealistic, green in a different way since it's green from the foliage of the mimosa itself while here there is a more generic greenery, also Boldly Seoul gets sweet with the candied violets and it is more floral and musky, this one is honey based, and it is a gorgeous honey too. But in terms of vibes I think they are almost the same, actually I find Boldly Seoul even more romantically sad, the violettes give to it a kind of Victorian era allure, when everyone seemed to be in mourning and tuberculotic beauty was en vogue! Exotic Mimosa is much more warm and solar, much more exotic in this sense. This is really not fair since the product has a ridiculous cost, but in terms of comparison it remainds me of the style of the gorgeous Cerruti 1881, of course that one is much more well done, complex, classy and it is also more cold compared to Exotic Mimosa, but I would put them in the same family. This category of yellow flowers surrounded by green and powder is one style of scents that I find beautiful in a sad and graceful way, they call my name and I wish they would become more popular in the low cost category, so maybe that is why I am so enthusiastic about this Zara one. I will stop here with the comparison because I don't think it is fair to parallel this to seriously done mimosa perfumes but I must add that it remainded me very much of L' Air du Temps A Paris by Nina Ricci (that 2022 edition with gorgeous white and blu ceramic packaging).

this is an interesting scent. does not smell like any of its notes specifically but has a good and clean vibe overall. Did not remind me of any other scent, only Nivea body spray when first spritzed. It is not designed to be a dupe maybe; kinda soapy, sporty, feminine but not sweet. Very good to be an everyday scent. I bought this last week trying the tester at Zara shop. I was dissapointed that it did not exist on fragrantica by then, now I am glad to see it exists :)) very new release I guess, but a nice one among the other kinda dupes sold at Zara. Overall, I am glad with my purchase, I use it everyday at the office and at weekend. Makes me feel good

Name is misleading, like with most Zara fragrances. There is absolutely nothing “exotic” about this fragrance :) Exotic Mimosa is soft, powdery, inoffensive, easy to wear. It is warm light sweet scent, with refreshing CLEAN undertones. All of the notes are well blended, with very light and airy power feel to it. Projection is minimal to moderate (depending on climate), longevity is 3-4h on the skin ( pretty standard for Zara fragrances) One of the best representations of clean delicate mimosa, in my humble opinion. One word keeps coming to mind : Lovely.

I don't find this perfume at all exotic; on the contrary it is very comforting and familiar. It is soft, clean and a little powdery, without that slight melancholic tone powdery iris perfumes sometimes have. Instead this is an entirely optimistic scent, a hazy gentle sunshine yellow. I enjoy it most for the unlikely scent of uncooked dough that it lends my skin - an unbaked mimosa loaf about to go in the oven on a warm and perfect day in an airbrushed world!

Definitely a Johnson Baby smell, and I love it. If you want a cute baby girl vibe, this is for you. It is not something too special, too exclusive, but very very cute. If you want to have something exotic and sexy vibe, this is definitely not for you. The longevity is moderate which is acceptable for the price. The package is cute too.

Gorgeous perfume! For once the notes are spot on. Lasting power of skin: 1 hour. On clothes: 2-3 hours. This is supposed to be an EDP, mind you.

Powdery and green the kind of perfume I love. I had to grab a full size bottle.

This perfume is EVERYTHING! I need to stock up on it because I’m scared I’ll be without. It’s a Zara fragrance so you definitely need to overspray, but when the price point is this good, I have no issue doing so! When I smelt in store, there was something quite interesting & unique about it that I kept going back to. “Exotic” is a perfect word to describe it. It’s very clean, but not windexy or laundry clean. It’s powdery. I can see the resemblance to baby lotion. Overall it’s just a gorgeous fragrance that can be layered or worn alone. This is my comfort scent that I often wear to bed or to run errands. The performance and siliage are great for the price point. I sprayed at 10 am one day and was complimented by a stranger at around 7pm that same day. I couldn’t believe she could still smell it on me! I hope Zara keeps this fragrance around... it will always always be in my collection! I am obsessed to say the least.

The notes here are exactly what you get,dense yellow powdery sunshine like honeyed mimosa and some sweet dry meadow freshness. It makes me think of a warm day in a meadow at the end of summer when everything is a greeny yellow. It's a great fragrance for the price.

In terms of perfumes it reminds me of Lolita Lempicka or Iris by Prada. It’s powdery. It also smells of Johnson and Johnson’s baby powder or makeup. I love it but it’s definitely not for everyone.

This scent to me smells a awful like Infusion d'Iris by Prada Doesn't last long, doesn't project either But I love how it smells, or moreso Like

Beautiful! Warm, sweet and powdery.

This is hate at first but love come to the last. First spray I dislike the green wet bitter muddy dirty grass smell on my skin. And they project! Oh Gosh! What should I do! Can you imagine? Is strong wet bitter muddy green grass scent on my skin and some realistic mimosa at the back blending with them. Ermmmmmmm... Ermmmmm..not a fresh green scent. Which is very realistic smelly green grass. Suspecting because my perfume was just unbox and delivered in some heat that cause the smell. I should test it after they calm down in cool temp. After a week. But above review are first unbox and review impression. Nevermind let waited for a while. Give a test and try for a first user. Waited for 3 hours and the green muddy fade away and finally! A beautiful , a mild powdery lotion vibe is approaching me. I smell MIMOSA. Is pleasant, soft, elegant, and lotion scent. Aren’t the same with Prada Mimosa lean to fresh. This Mimosa is Muddy Wet Mimosa and a touch of light green grass scent. Due to the powdery effect this give a great dry down. Is comfortable. But seriously I would like to avoid the Top Note. Aren’t a bad perfume but still not perfect. This is why you can descript as EXOTIC MIMOSA. The naming make sense now. I still prefer Prada Mimosa, they are just too generic and simple, elegant, but pricy and weak staying power. Would like to find something like Prada mimosa. Let me try after a week and I will keep you update. Maybe it will smell different. ——————————— Update: the mud dirty green grass smell still exist. I think it’s just how it smell.

It's absolutely horrible on me! Smells like scented toilet paper or baby vipes. I don't get honey, just a very strong powdery flower. The fragrance remains the same from the first spray to the dry down, all day. It doesn't change even a little bit so it's pretty simple. At least I'm sure now, these very vibrant flowery perfumes are not for me. The sillage is moderate so you can use it at work, it doesn't shout and not outstanding at all. Longevity is an average Zara, lasted for several hours on me then I had to wash it off. I'm not saying it stinks or something, just for me it's more like a baby scent. Like a freshly bathed baby on a summer afternoon, being hold by his/her mother, ready to fall asleep. Objectively, it's a comforting, happy perfume for powdery flower lovers but personally I can't stand it on me.

Review based on the in-store test with a piece of paper: same vibes as Infusion d’Iris from Prada. Really similar to my nose as it is a powdery green scent. Chic and soft spring/nature energy and could suits everyone at anytime. I align with litteraly everything @juliausa below wrote. Not really exotic, but among all Zara perfumes, I think this one stands out, it's not the kind they usually do. I've already worn Infision d’Iris and now I have N19 + N19 Poudré de Chanel in my collection, and I'm happy with it, so I don't see myself buying it yet. Nevertheless and as always with Zara, its good value for money if you like Infusion d’Iris and/or powdery and/or green scents. Not bad Zara, you're starting to get talked about more and more in the world of perfumes ;)

Perfect summer scent. This is my second time bringing it with me on holiday.
