Fleur de Patchouli

I shall start this long review by saying that this perfume is not so simple like one may think reading the three declared notes or judging by its price. True, it is minimalistic, yet it is a marvelous modern patchouli fragrance that presents more then one interesting contrast. It is chic and classy like a black silky chemise, and has the same versatility too. Infact it can be interpreted as refined and classic, mysterious and bit gloomy, but also sporty, light and strangely clean. A chameleon that goes with various moods. Its flowery and musky parts speak of an alluring feminity, the mossy, a tad smoky and woody dry down reads as deliciously masculine, while the patchuli and fresh accords is what ties it all togheter in a perfect unisex blend. Anyone can pull this off. The opening starts with flowers accompanied by wood and by a fresh/citrus component, at least some bergamot for sure; this citrus note (or notes as I suspect) make the perfume very shiny and kinda airy/expansive. Contrary to the usual Zara x Jo Malone it's not a strong citrus, nor just a blast in the opening, but instead it delicately reverberates through out the whole composition, togheter with something green. It is as if Jo Malone applied the Impressionism's art style to a patchouli based perfume through brushstrokes of light from the citrus and of pastel and muted colors from the flowers. The flowery component is strong...I would say rose more so then peony, but you can feel them both; they smell delicate and pink, like joung petals and like morning blooming flowers, with the rose comes the green facet I mentioned before, as if you can smell parts of the rose's stem (in combo with the underlying citrus it's kinda like geraniol to my nose). A contrast is present in the floral too because this petals smell also dry, spicy and a bit dirty, kinda like a pout pourru effect, but at the same time there is that gentle soapy effect (modern, truly nothing old style), accentuated even more by the musk in the base. The patchouli dominates the fragrance but, as the name suggest, is based in flowers, and the result it's probably better described as a polished patchouli. It's not too earthy, nor too herbaceous and natural (or classic 70's if we will), nor sweet or dry. I feel it as a tad smoky and balsamic for an overall superbly chic effect!!! The contrast between a clear yet dark fragrance is perfectly played in this sense. It's a refined and modern patchouli but surely nothing innovative since it is very similar in style to Chanel Coco Mademoiselle, as many other reviewers before me noted; it's not a "dupe" but it has that kind of dna and style: classy, uplifting, expensive and en vogue. The woody dimension is strong too, it hit my nose even before the flowery notes started to truly open. I percive the guaiac wood in it as sweet, dry, and a little smoked. Besides, a dry tabacco vibe and the sensation of moss is surely present since the middle fase of the scent (even more so on paper and clothes), probably the result of the interaction between guaiac and patchouli. Maybe even a smidge of vetiver it's present, since there is a touch of that familiar earthiness. In closure, a clean and sexy musk seals the all deal. Perhaps it's the similarity to Coco Mademoiselle but, in my imagination, this would fit like a glove on an androgynous woman or man, someone like Coco Chanel...always playing with feminine and masculine elements in her style, modernizing the rigor of religious attire, stealing symbols and flashes of gold from Byzantine art...short haired, her smoking mouthpiece always between her long fingers! Lasting power is surprisingly good for Zara, at least 4 to 5 hours, with the dry down lasting even more. Projection is not bad at all, it leaves a seducing trail behind. Also, this beauty behaves as a precious layering tool, specially with more spicy compositions, as do the others from the line. For instance, it pairs very well with Zara's own Ebony Wood (spicy and so warm!), those two thogheter or alone are the ones I use the most for layering when I want to give body through spices and woods to other fragrances (specially florals and solinotes). Fleur de Patchouli was my first encounter with Jo Malone's collaborations with Zara and it impressed me so much that it enticed me to try all the elements in the Emotion line, and all the others Zara x Jo Malone offerings; for their price you really can not ask for more...I feel her magic touch is surely there. I enjoy them so much that I thought it was only fair to review them all, one by one and in great length. If you care to know my opinion on the Zara x Jo Malone Emotion Collection as a whole, I spoke about it in great detail in my other reviews, but to synthesise a bit: -they have a great price for their quality which is very apothecary like, surely they smell more expensive then what you actually pay; -they are always in stock, often in promo, and offered in 10, 40 and 90 ml, with candles and cosmetics of the same scents; -they are good layering tools, many houses arose on the market with just the layering claim, Zara offers to us 9 of them at a fraction of the price and with honest quality; - you get the Jo Malone style, minimalistic yet impactful, and very photorealistic. Surely a premium experience for an highstreet brand; -good packaging and presentations.

Is this a fruitchouli Coco Monsieur? Fleur de Patchouli is a chypre-floriental daring fragrance, with leathery nuances that tell its strong temperament. The atmosphere of a contemporary music party comes to life and finds its balance in the classic notes of fruity patchouli, pink patchouli, or pink chypre as some call this kind of modern accords. The notes –peony, patchouli, leather, and guaiac–say absolutely nothing about the scent. It’s not possible to imagine what it smells like from that roster until you rock it. So many of these notes are rendered completely abstract that what jumps out is greenish, pink patchouli over which have been melted flavoring and the type of fruit syrups used to flavor water. Ain't no cloying, yet smoky and woody to bear the lavish mildness. Fleur de Patchouli is a modern composition with a strong yet surprisingly fresh character. It opens with a delightful fragrant sweet and rosy aroma of peonies in voluptuous bloom, like "morning rose petals", with just a tad of citrus, definitely a floral accord with something dirty going on. The heart is a sweet amber with that modern green cotton candy-patchouli which defines so many of the perfumes from this era. Hours after, this deep, dark, amber-patchouli fades to a sugarcoated white musk. It comes across as both sweet and clean. Due to its many diverse associations, the hippy era, patchouli is and always will be a “love or hate it scent.” Notwithstanding, if you are anything like me, you will love it. And then comes the dry-down full of guaiac wood, a little bit birch tar-y, leathery, even tarmac-y. A little bit rubbery, sometimes. Hints of tobacco, too, or the whiff of burning leaves in winter. There’s nothing light and airy about guaiac wood, that’s for sure. I've seen many people mistaking guaiac wood with palo santo wood, yet they are two kinds of wood apart. I would describe guaiac aroma as being masculine but also very mellow, creamy, lactonic with far less of the minty and balsamic qualities found within the regular palo santo. Guaiac essence is from the heartwood, which produces an essential oil with a sweet, woody, milky fragrance reminiscent of sandalwood, whereas palo santo essence is from the old bark, which falls down and acquires intense aroma while getting older. I see this perfume perfectly fit the cold days of late autumn and early spring, all too not offensive and light enough to be worn in the office, spot-on for evening and dinner out. Yet, not too strong for a night out or clubbing. Projection is moderate and longevity is above average. This is one of those perfumes that lingers and holds onto fabric forever. In my opinion, this release is the lighter and sweeter version of Coco Mademoiselle fragrance, with a more masculine facet. Congrats Jo Loves (aka Jo Malone), cause out of your 8 emotions this is a pleasant one.

This is fantastic-- I don't even like patchouli. I bought the tester kit from Zara, not expecting to like this one, but it was the first full bottle I bought from the collection. I can't get enough of it. I have around 300 bottles of perfume in my collection (it's a problem, I know), but this unpretentious one from Zara is possibly in my top 10...definitely top 20. It also has good longevity-- it does get fainter after a few hours, but it lasts all day, and the sillage is pretty good, too. Other people have noticed. I have been complimented three times by strangers (well, one was my dental hygienist) while wearing this one, and I've probably only worn it a handful of times. I know it's supposed to be a dupe for Coco Mademoiselle. I don't think they're that close, and I've never liked CM enough to justify the cost...but my husband liked it last time I wore it. I recently re-tested CM, and both my husband and myself prefer Zara FdP. It's a bit sweeter and more floral. CM is a bit soapy and too "perfumey." FdP is fresher and slightly sweeter (I think that's the peony). I think this is more similar to the original Jimmy Choo than CM, but I prefer this one over both fragrances. This is a year-round scent. The patchouli grounds it for fall/winter, but the fresh peony means it works in spring/summer. I like it so well I'm considering buying a backup bottle in case they discontinue. I will say the Jo Malone collaborations have produced better scents than I usually find with Zara. The Emotions collection is especially lovely. Absolutely worth the $40!! Edit-- I just realized I reviewed when I first tried it. I forgot, and this review is weeks later after having a full bottle with more wear time. I'm clearly in love.

Just WOW. I tested the whole Zara Emotions line (purchased the discovery set), and this is the one I keep going back to smell, although all of them are lovely (except Ebony Woods for me because super woody isn't my thing). This is definitely reminiscent of Coco Mademoiselle. I feel like that's a pleasant scent, but I've never liked it well enough to pay the crazy price. I wish I liked it more because my husband loves it when I've worn decants of it. But this is BETTER!!! It has great lasting power, and there's something else there-- might be slightly sweeter/fresher than CM. Whatever it is, I find this lovely, while CM can get a bit annoying to me in time. This one I can't stop sniffing. I'm buying two bottles. Also-- I hate patchouli. I despise most fragrances with that note...but somehow here it works for me. It is there, but whatever it's combined with takes away all the harshness, and it just adds depth and interest. So if you're a patchouli hater like me, I would still test it out. I thought this would be the only one I didn't like in the discovery set, but it turned out to be my favorite.

Lately, I've been reaching Fleur de Patchouli more than usual as the scent has developed into something amazing over time. I also feel like the never bottles are different than the initial release. I thing really the new magnetic cap bottle releases are wonderful. Almost a year after purchase , righ now Fleur de Patchouli smells more damp, green , fresh than first time. Patchouli is so fresh and different, it almost smells like fresh tobacco leaves or the tobacco flower, green , earthy, damp but still very fresh. Maybe that's the effect of guaiac wood. Peony definitely keeps it balanced. It's pretty linear and doesn't evolve at all but It's still such a versatile scent at this point , it can be easily worn winter, spring, summer , fall day and night. I don't do layering much generally and I know it may sound contradicting, but I layer it legendary Pur Blanca for lounging and it smells incredible cosy , relaxed and unique.

This one has become my favorite of this line. This smell is absolutely gorgeous and reminiscent of the most beautiful floral landscapes you might have ever seen. Not kidding. It incorporates an elegant touch of woodiness to it. The opening could lean more to the feminine side, but once it settles, to me this goes beyond genders or ages. It is surreal that Zara has even released this... If only longevity and sillage were better this'd be a 10/10 scent. However, the price is more than fair (25,95 eur for 90ml). What you have here is an incredibly simple floral fragrance that sits and blends perfectly on skin. A clean and natural mix. If you have small children please wear this, and keep another bottle in a wardrobe for them to open in 25 years time. I'd like to be in that room to see their faces when they get instant memories of a fantastic childhood because of this scent. 9/10.

Such a beauty. Amazing, delicate combination of the peony and patchouli. It's only so distantly resembling of Narciso Rodriguez her edp, because of the rose and slight muskiness. I feel like Fleur de Patchouli has a crisp, icy vibe that I can compare to Elizabeth Arden Green Tea, even though this one is not a green tea perfume but a rose one. An almost ozonic, transparent rose. Feels like a rainy, mossy cemetery and roses. I don't mean to portray a depressing and sad image but it just felt like that. On the skin it projects quite differently than on the paper, and without trying on your skin it is not possible to understand if the name patchouli in the title is actually an accurate one. It's an amazing rosy patchouli scent, I would say they are equally present and the woodiness that also could be read as muskiness (which also comes from the patchouli) makes it feel deep.

Wow. This smells so similar to Gris Dior to my nose! They both share the same airy quality with a very clean patchouli note (which may bother those looking for a dirty or earthy patchouli). I can’t comment on longevity yet as I’ve only just received it, but what incredible value for money. I own Gris Dior and love it, but I only use it for special occasions as it costs about £10 a spray - this feels like the perfect substitute I can use with abandon without feeling guilty. This smells so expensive. I’m shocked at how good it is. What a great find. Edit 06/09 there are differences between the two. This one is sweeter, due to that beautiful, soft peony note, and is a simpler composition overall. You also notice the patchouli in here a bit more, whereas with Gris Dior you feel it more, as it's more integrated into the base structure rather than as a note you can pick out.

I will admit this fragrance changed. The first time I wore it I did not know how I felt about it. A month later in hotter more humid weather I sort of like it. It brought me back memory wise to the early 2000s. I could not figure out why it now smelled so familiar. Later on it hit me. This spot on 100 percent smells like a perfume I use to wear in college by Jennifer Lopez called Still. Which had no patchouli or peony in it. Very strange, but they are def identical in smell profiles. While I like this fragrance enough to wear likely once a week, I do not like it so much that I need to ensure I get another bottle in case Zara discontinues it. Zara ends up making most of their money upfront by making every perfume pretty much limited editions. The fear that something you like will be gone when you run out is the worst.

I'm kinda sad that I only discovered this perfume 2 years after it was released because I missed out on so much. On me it smells like a very delicate and feminine scent. I am not very familiar with patchouli scents and I know that a lot of people hate it, however, this one seems very inoffensive. Longevity is a bit weak and I would definitely say that it sits close to the skin. But for the price, you're getting such a good quality perfume. I saw that a lot of reviewers said it's similar to coco mademoiselle and I can only slightly agree. It does smell a bit like CC in the dry down but honestly if I didn't see the comparison it would have never reminded me of CC.

I had to go back and change this one because I keep gravitating back to it. I was iffy about it at first because I didn’t expect the floral to be such a strong accord, but I actually really like it now. The peony and patchouli notes balance each other nicely so that this is feminine but also mysterious and sensual in a way. This has great longevity and morphs into a much more earthy scent as it dries down. I think it’s ultimately my favorite out of all the Zara x Jo Malone fragrances (I recommend Elegantly Tokyo from the Vibrant Cities collection if you like this one).

I went to Zara to specifically sniff this when it came out because of the Kate Moss comparison here, and I wasn't disappointed. Smelling this immediately brought back memories. That one was my winter daytime and going out scent as a teenager and I was sad they discontinued it. I don't like Coco Mademoiselle and I don't find it similar to this fragrance. This is the only type of patchouli I like, it's fresh and deep at the same time. After I let it sit in the bottle, it has good projection and lasting power as well. I will repurchase when I run out.

One of the best scents in the collection in my opinion. I can say that this is the closest fragrance to Peony and Blush Suede from Joe Malone's original series. The freshness of patchouli and the beautiful aroma of peony are wonderfully blended in the scent. I got incredible praise from my surroundings every time I sprayed it, but it's worth saying that its staying power is average like any Joe Malone perfume. Although the comments say it is a very feminine scent, it is definitely a must for men who can carry it.

I love how divisive unisex fragrances can be. Unlike some other people here I find this a bit feminine leaning. Smells somewhat similar to Coco Mademoiselle. I'm a man and Coco Mademoiselle is one of my least favorite perfumes. Fleur de Patchouli is so much better and I find myself weirdly drawn to it. Even though it's not something I'd wear every day, it's a very pleasant floral scent with decent longevity. Will definitely reach for it when in the right mood.

I had this as a blind buy. But soon as I sprayed it on my skin... this scent reminded me a softer version of Eau de Nuit Oud by Armani. And I'm surprised with it's longevity as it stayed on my skin for more than 4 hrs. This Eau de Parfum by Jo Loves is a great steal! - got lucky I got these mistakenly marked with 40% off This will definitely be one of my staple evening scent this summer and we'll see how will it go come fall/winter.

I get the references to Chanel Coco Mademoiselle, but where Coco is the larger than life, show performer who makes her presence known, Zara Fleur de Patchouli is her quieter, nicer sister. Coco can get overwhelming after a while, and you only wear her when you need that extra oomph. I wear Fleur de Patchouli when I want to spend a quiet evening at home. She's easy to be around with. Sometimes I layer her with Ebony Wood.

Jimmy Choo (see my review) and this perfume are so similar, with a huge difference in sillage and longevity, though. I like this one a lot, as well. The bottle and the packaging are so stylish. And Jo Malone's quote on the box : "“The eye of this fragrance stares straight at you, daring you to engage with her creativity"... Lovely.. ! It is definitely an unusual fragrance, sensual in a creative way. Give it a try.

Fluer de Patchouli is so yummy. It has that juicy and sweet fruit-chouli thing going on, but its the most enjoyable and wearable fruit-chouli I've ever smelled. Once it dries down it chills out even more to be a spiced, woody, and juicy patchouli scent. The patchouli in this scent seems to be extracted from TM Angel, but none of the other notes that people hate about Angel. I really like it :)

This is such an unexpectedly pretty and delicate version of patchouli and I love that I have a mild patchouli scent as spring approaches. Tip: I layered it with Fleur d’Oranger from the same Jo Malone/Zara and wow 🤩, as a chypre, gourmand, & woodsy scent lover, who also has a thing for jasmine & orange blossom, I now have the perfect mix of fresh, musky, woodsy & floral.

Zara astonished me with this one and Go Fruity! Both are very high quality fragrances with great prices. Fleur de patchouli is the best and the cleanest patchouly fragrance I have ever smelled. Generally I stay away from patchouli and I try to pick up fragrances free of it but this one is such a beauty. It may be the dream scent of a fragrance gourmet. Very lovely

Love! It's a serious, woody, floral patchouli that doesn't smell like anything else I know of. The woody base is wonderfully contrasted by the playful peony flitting across the top. So far there's no earthiness or skank, it's a clean, fruity patchouli note. Like many of this line, it manages to smell high-quality and not designery at all while being super cheap.

I was looking for an affordable perfume i can wear daily and i did not regret buying this! it smells so good! i love how its woody and spicy but its suitable for summer! i usually dont like patchouli perfumes because sometimes they're too spicy, maybe too minty or too herby, but this one is a balance! its very wearable for any occasions! love love jo malone :)

A masculine scent. When sprayed on clothes, it leaves a very pleasant scent that will last until the next day. I tested it for 3 hours longevity on the skin. sillage is fine from close range. A quality product that is worth much more than its price. I don't think it's feminine. If the sillage was stronger I would give it 10/10. for me 8/10

As a person who can’t stand patchoulis in designer perfumes like mugler etc. this perfume is like heaven. I don’t think this only has patchouli peony and guaiac wood but something else too that it gives such depth and sensuality to this perfume. Easy to wear and very unique scent. I prefer this over Ebony Wood because of its versatility.

A lovely, naturalistic peony bomb supported by some patchouli. I don't know that the guaiac wood registered on me at all. Simplicity aside, this still smells far more expensive than it is ($40 / 90ml). All of the Zara Emotions fragrances by Jo Malone were designed to be worn alone or layered, so I plan on playing around with layering.

I sprayed this and left the store to the movies & forgot about it. However, I kept getting whiffs of it as I moved my arms and as soon as the movie ended I went back to zara & got myself a bottle of this <3 I agree it is more unisex and I realy like it, I almost can't understand how some ppl don't like it.

Excellent scent, I use it to accent other perfumes. Reminds me of Coco Mademoiselle - same elegant luxurious vibe but I wouldn’t say it’s a dupe. Heavy on patchouli. Great sillage, projection and longevity on me. Definitely worth for the price, way better than other Zara fragrances I’ve tried.

The most restrained but obvious patchouli I have ever smelled. Perfect for those who think 'regular' patchouli is too much. Perfect for the office because it won't bother anyone. Absolutely worth the pennies ZARA asks for it. Works year-round, day or night.

This is MAGIC and I ADORE it! A juicy, fresh and mouthwatering patchouli unlike any other patchouli perfume I’ve ever owned. This is one of my top five favorites, and it’s addictive. I get cravings when I haven’t worn it in a while. Great compliment getter!

Very elegant, subtle and clean. On clothes it lasts the whole day, on skin the longevity is a bit worse. I wish it was more long lasting because the scent is beautiful! Feminine and floral, office friendly, even gym friendly. Love at first sniff!

This is peony and earthy patchouli with woods. Simple blend that smells great ! Performance is on par with many Zara releases....low to medium...but I still can appreciate the scent anyways. Unisex...good all year/everyday type scent....IMO.

My favourite fragrance from this line WITHOUT A DOUBT. It's soft, tender, feminine, elegant, nostalgic... My boyfriend says that he adores to smell this on my skin and on the room I am, and he hates almost all perfumes.

Sexy, clean, well-blended, ADDICTIVE! this is something that would make me stop in my tracks if i smelled it on someone else and make me seek them. it has such a commanding presence!

A quite simple composition, but what a lovely scent: living proof that a fragrance doesn't have to cost an arm and a leg to be exquisite and beautifully crafted.

What can I say?? I absolutely loved this fragrance since I got it back in 2020... Only now I realise it’s 70-80% similar to Pas Сe Soir from BDK. WOW!!

This one was honestly kind of underwhelming and disappointing to me. As a fan of a lot of the Zara fragrances and of patchouli scents, I was excited to try this one when I saw it returning on their website. Not only because it’s made by Jo Malone who is a well known name, but also because I had previously heard it being described as a ‘patchouli for beginners’. While I’m definitely someone who appreciates very patchouli heavy fragrances and all, so I wouldn’t describe myself as a ‘patchouli beginner’, I also don’t want to choke everyone out in the office, which a ‘Patchouli’ by Reminiscence is surely going to do, so I figured that this one was going to be a good one for day to day use. Which it might still be, but I can’t say that I’m super excited from the first impressions – meaning, sampling, and wearing it for about a full day. It is not inventive, which I hear that is kind of something that Jo Malone is known for, having very simple scent profiles. But it is still kind of disappointing to me, because patchouli itself is such a divisive note that is something that is bold, that you can’t miss. So for this not only to be a note in this scent, but to actually be in the name of the scent, I definitely expected something more intense, and more patchouli forward. I would have liked it to be a little bit stronger. It sits very close to the skin. I heard someone say that this is basically a patchouli that has all of the dirtiness taken out of it, which isn’t my issue with it, as I love clean patchoulis like ‘White Patchouli’ by Tom Ford. I don’t dislike the scent and I don’t regret blind buying it. But if I would have sampled it in the store I probably would have passed on it. It’s just ok. Maybe it will grow on me more. I will definitely wear it on days where I want to smell nice but not stand out.

Today’s grey skies and cozy vibes called for something soft and introspective, so I reached for a sample of this one by Zara x Jo Malone. I have to admit, I went into this with pretty low expectations. Jo Malone has always felt a bit frou-frou to me—expensive scents that disappear in about 12 minutes—and I've only known Zara for making dupes. So when I saw this collaboration between the two brands, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. The fragrance features notes of Patchouli, Peony, and Guaiac Wood, and I got it as part of a Guaiac Wood sampler pack from Surrender to Chance. The opening here is delightful—vibrant florals with a veil of subtle peppery woodsiness overlaying them. It has a whimsical, almost “fairy-dust” quality that feels light and sheer. There’s also a hint of musk that leans into a comforting, skin-scent vibe (something I typically don't reach for). It reminded me a bit of Burberry Touch with its soft, floral, enveloping nature. As the scent dried down, it developed a humid, slightly heavy quality, while still staying close to the skin. 15 minutes after I applied it, it was already fading quickly, though I hadn’t applied much with the standard stick applicator from perfume samples that everyone hates. The dry down revealed the typical "skin-scent" accord—a fleeting "wet-paper-towel" vibe (not unpleasant) before settling into a faint, suede-y patchouli about two hours later. While the longevity was short-lived, there’s something lovely about its sparky opening and its subtle, almost shy patchouli finish. I only wish it had lingered a little longer to really explore that softness. Given my usual skepticism about both brands, I’m pleasantly surprised by this collaboration, even if it didn’t quite last as long as I would have liked.

This is a nicely balanced patchouli-and-peony fragrance. While I am not a fan of either sweet or patchouli-heavy scents, this iteration works very well, and I was pleasantly surprised. The opening is sweetly balsamic on inital spray, syrupy and fruity - certainly not my thing, and I thought I would hate this one. However, the opening is fleeting and the floral-patchouli accord comes to the fore quite quickly. It is nuanced, natural-smelling and balanced, with the heady peony notes being grounded by the earthy patchouli. The patchouli in particular is not overused (one of my gripes about mainstream fragrances is the liberal use of patchouli). Instead of being overwhelming and dirty, it gives a subtle earthy undertone to this peony-heavy scent. As it dries down, soft woody notes creep in, joining the peony-patchouli accord. It becomes quite dry and powdery as it fades. Sillage and longevity are moderate - the skin scent phase lasts for a surprisingly long time. Slightly more complex than the other linear scents in this line, yet subtle and pared back. Feminine-leaning, inoffensive day scent. Nicely blended and good quality for the price. One of the best of this line, and a refreshing change from the citrus colognes. 3/5.

This is a softer chypre compared to leather jardin (which motivated me into getting more chypres.) It is green, dirty earth with wild flowers. Humid and warm, after rains. This one sits close to the skin, but lasts really long. And even longer on clothes (more than 14 hrs.) It has a slight urinal cake note which i get but it makes it all the more natural. And i dont hate it. I feel it gives her depth and to be different from any other fresh perfume. I have sniffed Coco M, and i feel this is less animalic than her and softer. This is gentle, calm and intriguing. A woman sitting alone at a cafe in Arunachal, reading Elif Shafak’s forty rules of love between sipping some green tea. She is wearing a breezy white linen shirt and olive trousers and looks up occasionally to marvel at something profound she just read or to appreciate a hornbill’s trilling, hidden among the branches of the many fig trees. Every perfume tells stories. The Jo Malone x Zara series has never disappointed me. I wish i could try all of them before they were sold out/taken down by Zara.

Bought it in Verona purely for nostalgia. Kate by Kate Moss was always out of my reach while I was a student. I could barely afford food at one point. It does resemble Kate very much but it also has just a tiny drop of Velvet hour(like pepper, incense and nutmeg) and just a hint of Midnight poison by Dior. Rose or peony, it doesn't matter. I still haven't found the real peony perfume which is quite surprising since it has a strong smell. Unlike pistachio which smells nutty and salty to me. But perfumes smell like pistachio tastes. It has that dark aura, the one patchouli has when paired with rose or in this case peony. It gives black and pink. Wearing it in the crowded streets of Verona, eating tiramisu it felt ancient and bitter. But once I came back to my small town it became tame and beautiful. I also bought Jo Malone's English pear and sweet pea in their boutique which was more like a spring breeze compared to this one. Really, really well made. I was longing for Kate for so long.

Hold your horses, folks. Don’t judge this fragrance too quickly. This fragrance is so weird, it’s like a transformer. Some days, it turns into a masculine dirty patchouli that makes me feel like I just rolled in the mud. Some days, it turns into a soft feminine effervescent floral that makes me feel like I just take a bath in flower petals. I don’t know if it’s the fragrance or my nose that’s playing tricks on me. Maybe I need to see a doctor after the fourth time I had Covid. Or maybe I just love both scents because I have multiple personality disorder lol. Seriously, though, this fragrance is great for those who like variety, or who have identity issues. Just don’t expect people to recognize you by wearing this scent alone, because they might think you’re someone else every time.
