For Him Black Edition Intense

Recently bought it, and I am very pleased. Opening is not the best to be honest, the pepper and grapefruit is really strong in initial spray but as it dries down, the cardamom and chili pepper joins the game and the fragrance starts to get better. Similar to LNDL, Guilty and even Noir Extreme. Orange blossom is not as strong as the regular version, mastic is a unique addition but I do not get clary sage at all, the last hours of the fragrance is extremely woody and supported by ambery notes. If you like previous version but find it a bit too linear, soapy or basic this is for you. In my opinion a colder weather-spring perfume, I cannot imagine myself wearing this in summer. Great performance.

I think it's a great all rounder, can be worn any day any season. Sage and grapefruit are really out there, nicely combined, not too sweet, the spicy elements are really more on the background, not too distracting but working well with the floral aspects. Sandalwood gives it a slight soapy feeling but I guess it will work different on different skin. Woody aspects are more noticable on the drydown. Great daily driver. It's a good warm scent, flight citrus comes up at a point as well. Great for it's price but don't expect something that will really standout.

The first thing that comes to mind after testing this scent is generic. And very much so - 3/4 of the mainstream smells more or less like that. Knowing the classic version of Black, which is quite weak, I didn't expect any miracles, but after the last Intense editions from Zara I expected something better. The only difference I notice in Black Edition Intense is a slightly smaller amount of orange blossom and more sweetness than in the regular Black. Intense also has a slightly better longevity, but the projection is still weak. We have a lot of notes here, but you can't feel this richness at all. There is definitely a lot of cardamom, which together with sandalwood stand out to the foreground. The rest blends into an insignificant background. The base is woody, amber, sweetish. It's not a bad scent, but too generic for me. The price is a plus because 90% of what you can find in chain perfumeries smells similar and costs more, only the parameters of Zara are average. If you like typical, modern mainstream and at the same time don't want to stand out in any way, this is the scent for you. 6/10
