Gardenia 2021

I used to find this fragrance frustrating, because every time I smelt it I was expecting to smell black opium and I just never got it. My favourite thing about black opium is the coffee note, and I felt like this was all the florals of black opium but without the coffee, which was still nice, but kinda boring. It’s only recently, after having had it for MONTHS than I am finally getting that coffee note and feeling the similarity to black opium. In a way I wish that link hadn’t been planted in my head, because maybe I could’ve just enjoyed what I was smelling rather than be disappointed by what I WASN’T smelling. I think with fragrance, it’s only fair to judge what you are smelling and not what isn’t there. This is a warm semi-deep floral perfume that is just really enjoyable to wear. It doesn’t reinvent the wheel but it doesn’t have to because that’s not why you get it. You get it because it’s good and sexy and at a great price. The vibe it gives is night out for dinner in a simple glittery little black dress... it’s not like a clubbing smell but it’s an evening smell for sure, a sweet classy smell. I would definitely recommend this. Projection and sillage are great considering the price, but longevity is average for an EDT.

Reviewing this on it's own. This is an amazing fragrance by Zara. There is a dark fruit upon first spray with a hint of spice and vanilla in the dry down. I overspray this on my clothes and hair to get the potency that I want. You can wear it in all seasons since it is not cloying and heavy. $25.99 usd for the 3oz (2 pack) with Zara Orchid is a steal! I hope Zara never discontinues this.

A lighter version of Black Opium. All notes are well blended, not overpowering but still with moderate longevity and sillage. Good for daytime use all year round! Again well done, Zara! I am your fan! 😊 (P.S.: No Gardenia, whatsoever. Zara has some tricky names for fragrances, uh? 😂)

Buenísimo aroma a coffe no dura mucho en piel pero en la ropa queda hasta que lo lavas es igual a black opium a diferencia de esta Gardenia lo uso para el diario trabajo y no es invasivo como el black opium soy fanática de los aromas a coffe lo recomiendo

This is my favorite and best blind buy ever. Notes of orange blossom and coffee, with some vanilla and jasmine dry down. This fragrance gets me a tone of compliments and lasts all day. Absolutely love this, personally feel its one of zaras best perfumes.

this has been my signature fragrance since it first came out, and i must admit, it’s truly mesmerizing. it has a sweet but flowery opening but when it dries down it smells like vanilla and spice. very mouthwatering and feminine.

I have this and Black Opium and they smell very much alike. This doesn't have as much lasting power but I got a 6 Oz bottle of this for $20 so it's a good deal to me. I definitely would suggest trying

Love this, such a cheap and pretty parfume. Smells like more fruity Black opium, like od opium has a baby with Burberry her. Didnt last long, but for that price i don't really care.

This is fantastic value for the price. Yes, it does smell similar to Black Opium and can be considered a dupe. It's very sweet, it's vanilla, coffee, floral. The lasting power is moderate. That is one of the problems I have with Black Opium, it fades away so fast and for the cost, that's not acceptable. Gardenia is not as rich in it's notes but it smells fantastic. I bought a 10ml roller-ball to try it out. I love that they offer that size so you don't have to invest much in a blind buy. It was under $8 Cdn. I will definitely be buying a full size bottle. Even the full size is just over 20 bucks so you can't go wrong.

I sprayed this on store and while I have been wanting to get Mugler Alien Goddess Intense. I was schoked to smell how much it resembles that one. Of course Muglers is stronger and better but for a Zara perfume this is surprisingly long lasting. I know this isnt made to be a dupe for goddess intense because this came out year before Mugler but however I read the common notes of bergamot, jasmin and vanilla are in both perfumes. The small bottle of this costs just 7.99 and I might just get that one.

I had the chance to sample YSL's Black Opium and I have to agree, this is a very close dupe. Almost identical. I love this perfume. Affordable and moderate performance especially for a Zara fragrance. The notes listed are correct.

Lovely scent, has been my daily for about a year. Not massively special in itself and minimal spillage, but for the money you can’t go wrong - one of Zara’s best.

My 12 Yr old daughter wears this, it's like the lighter more juvenile ysl black opium.

Dupe of Black Opium Perfume with gourmand sweet smell, a little synthetic fragrance you feel it. This perfume will be more suitable in winter or night. It lasts 6-8 hours on the leather and one day on the clothes. I buy it before boycott and I will not repeat it again specialy you will find another perfumes more feminine and gourmand than this perfume within the same price in Avon F.Ex. Far away Rabel. This perfume is way overhyped and definitely not for everyone. It’s very sweet and the coffee note I think is what makes it a no for me. I think there’s two pictures this fragrance can paint: 1. Having coffee in the garden on a sunny day 2. Cheap perfume after a night out For me it’s the latter and I can’t unsell it.

It's a really good dupe of YSL Black Opium. One of my pet peeves on this site is people saying any sweet musky vanilla perfume smells like Black Opium!! Lol but this one is supposed to be modeled after that one so I think it's justified to say this one smells like it hehe. It also reminds me a little bit of Black Musk from the Body Shop. Lasting power and projection is surprisingly strong.

Really loving this one. It does smell like a less complex, less white floral version of Black Opium EDP. It's also somehow a bit darker and a bit sweeter. In the drydown, the coffee bean is more prominent in Black Opium. Not an exact dupe but someone were to tell me that this is a Black Opium flanker I would 100% believed them.

A dupe of Black Opium. They share the same sweetness, but while I smell a lot of coffee in the YSL perfume, this one barely gives me anything from that note. I tested it both on skin and on paper and I found it much weaker than the original (this one is 100% a skin scent on me), which is fair given the price difference.

One of several Zara blind buys. While I don't smell gardenia at all, and I originally thought that this smelled too sweet, after about 30 minutes on my arm, it morphs into a creamy coffee floral smell that I find comforting.
