Golden Decade Winter

I did not expect the "winter" edition to be actually lighter and fresher than the OG but here we are, I guess. I wish they'd come up with this flanker at the beginning of the summer when I was forced to stop using the OG Golden Decade because it is way too sweet for the hot weather. It does have the impressive longevity of the OG though, I sprayed it at the beginning of the work day at 8 a.m. and I could still smell it at 8 p.m.

I can confidently say this is my favorite scent to wear. You can both wear it day and night. It is not heavy but also has great longevity. I cannot pinpoint any specific notes when I smell it, but I love the combination of whatever there is in it. It feels very chic, very feminine and elegant.

I thought this would be warmer due to the "winter" name, but this is a dupe for Libre EDT and it is spot on! I love this more than Golden Decade. It's light and fresh but a warmness that feels like a hug. Perfect for day or night.

I just tried this fragrances and compared it with Golden Decade (og) and the Libre family (of which I have some bottles and samples). GD Winter is very, very similar to Golden Decade og, in this case I think we could really apply the logic of an edp with all its flankers changing in potency, to edt to edp to elixir. What I mean to say is that this Winter version of Golden Decade appears to me like a more fruity, potent, creamier, sweet but at the same time softer version of the original (not a flanker like we usually see, with lots of different notes and the mid changed). The opening is more citrusy in Golden Decade Winter, it lasts well and bergamot and tangerine appear very sweet, fruity and fresh. Some of the bergamot remains intertwined with the mid notes. I don't think there are fresh spicy elements in Winter as instead it is in Golden Decade og. The heart of Winter is very floral, maybe more floral then Golden Decade og, infact I think this may be one of the major differences, Winter has more sweet orange blossom that goes togheter with the fresh jasmine rendering a more creamy floral heart, while Golden Decade og has a more potent soapy jasmine. The lavander is more strong in the og and more subdued in Winter, yet still very present as trademark of the scent. Winter is more strong in terms of sweetness but it is also more soft, less harsh and aromatic in respect to the original version. The base of Winter is more complex, yet I don't pick any incense at all. The original version was for me all vanilla and some tonka in the base, the winter version is more soft, more sweet and round and also more persistent; tonka, musk and vanilla are strong and well blended, some vetiver gives just a bit of an edge and I can feel the amber too, probably even a touch of ambroxan. Dry down is powdery, warm and inviting yet the scents remains very clean. About performance: strangely I think GD Winter performs just a bit less then Golden Decade og, lasting a bit less (on me for about 6 hours while the og version lasted on me for about 8 to 9, I am an heavy sprayer though). Sillage is almost the same, from moderate to strong. So I would say that strangely the Winter seems almost a littel more weaker, but they are almost on the same level I feel. Also consider that Winter is more creamy and sweet but at the same time more soft because it is less sharp, so this may impact my perception of sillage/lasting power. If you want it to last even longer and project more strongly then I suggest to try it layered with Zara Soleil Decade Shimmering Body Oil (costs only 6,00€ and it absorbs beautifully), it has the same exact fragrance and it works wonders as a base. In comparison to the Libre family: I think both Golden Decade and Golden Decade Winter resamble more Libre Intense, I find Libre edp more fresh and soapy, more lavander based, more fresh spicy and less vanillic (although the base is very sweet á la YSL). The Golden Decade family shares opening and mid with all the others of the Libre line (although Libre edt is the most refined with the tea note and more musky); I think the best winter version for now must be Libre Le Parfum with that saffron and honey, I was hoping Golden Decade Winter would be similar to Libre Le Parfum but for me it is still another iteration of Libre Intense. I think in general that Golden Decade is one of Zara best fragrances and replica in terms of how it is done, smells so true to Libre, it is unbelievable. If you are not an uber fan of the Libre/Golden Decade line then you don't need both beacuse they are soo similar the og and Winter version! But if you are a fan of the line then this may be considered a very beautiful scent worth of purchase, with enough subtle differences to justify having both. It is for sure more soft, warm and sweet!

I love ysl libre, it smells very chic and clean to me, however it can be quite expensive so I bought this version to test out and was completely blown away with how similar it was! The only difference is this version has incense which I do smell, and it helps to tone down the sweetness of the vanilla, however it does kinda smell like cigarettes a bit. It's a touch smokey smelling on the skin, but some people like that note in their perfumes. I'm not too keen on it, but it was a great blind buy irregardless and I will be using it up and buying a different flanker from the golden decade line. I was hoping this would be a dupe of the platine version, but alas it's not. I hope they make a platine dupe eventually though. For now this is a good purchase if you love libre, check out the golden decade line.

It’s great for me on a budget! I was previously going to say it has a cheap smell, however with maceration it is truly stunning and with good longevity. I’d say it’s accurate to libre but with a slight difference which makes it more to my taste. Wonderful!

it smells like super clean laundry to me. it's really fresh and comforting.

I'm in the minority here. I have both Golden Decade and Libre and this wasn't similar in my skin when I tested it at the store. It was much lighter, a lot of fruit (a tangerine with a lot of water, maybe?) that vanished very quickly. Maybe I need to retry it.

Never liked YSL Libre, once tested Libre Intense and loved it but not up to the point of buying it later (forgot about it). I think Libre is a superb perfume, complex enough (aromatic fresh spicy vanilla) but it's not special to me. I think this is also because I LOVE amber perfumes, oriental perfumes and when the spice is hot or gourmand rather than fresh. And Golden Decade OG is too harsh and divided, not well blended enough. Golden Decade Winter is perfect. Perhaps not complex enough, but just perfect and almost delicious on skin 🤤 But the way this dries up soft and creamy but not creamy, vanillic, with the soft tangerine in the beginning 🥹🥹 I love it, almost obsessed I won't stop wearing it It creates a very nice vanillic cloud around me. I don't know if it's too much for the people around me but I personally adore it!!

i feel like people usually buy this as a dupe for libre/libre intense but i genuinely enjoy this perfume so much more! it's one of my favorites for everyday wear. the og golden decade is very similar but there's just something so captivating in this one, i think it could be the incense that really gives it this kind of mysterious and alluring vibe

I went to Zara to buy Golden Decade (original), but they didn’t have it. But they did have Winter, so I sprayed it on my wrist and left the shop disappointed I didn’t get what I’d come for. Alas, I spent the entire day smelling my wrists and wishing I’d bought it, and now that I do own the original Golden Decade, I much prefer the winter version.

Out of all of the Golden Decades, this Is my absolute favourite. It lasts a good 6hrs on me and the dry down is beautiful. I have multiple back up bottles as I'm worried it will get discontinued as many fragrances do.. usually the ones I like.. (yes Gucci Envy, I mean you! 😆)

I don’t love the libre dna, but this take on the le parfum flanker is not bad! I get a syrupy sweet honey and floral. Very sweet and dense, smooth, not too bright. It’s nice, just very bold and not my preferred scent profile.

Smells very similar to ysl libre, a VERY pleasant smell! Sweet light fresh and fruity i love it
