Gourmand Leather 2019

It's VERY good imo! Performance is on par or even slightly better than current Ultra male as far as longevity and a little quieter on projection which I actually appreciate. It still projects more than enough but it is not quite as loud. Scent - Fantastic, basically go look at reviews of JPG UM and all of the situations for that apply to this. I will admit the opening is not as full and fruity as JPG but 10 minutes in you will be hard pressed to find a difference between these two. IT really is that good. I have been testing this for a week or two now, I had it on a sweatshirt and it was noticeable 48+ hrs later. On skin it obviously is no where near that, projects very well for somewhere between 2-4 hours and skin scent will linger for 12+ 9/10 for me, I'm so happy I purchased this at the pricepoint. Note - I got the bundle pack with Rich Leather for 29.90 Worth picking up the combo pack for Rich Leather, it's a lighter fruitier Aventus-esque fragrance that is also good. Not as good as Gourmand Leather though. Either way, enjoy your $15-20 Ultra Male!

I have tried this many times in store, but I finally found it for buying (this sells very fast here in Bucharest) Even though it's a little darker and has less projection than JPG UltraMale, I find it very hard to pull off outside of a party/club scenario. But, I think I will wear this on a night out as long as it's not too hot outside. As I see it - this is heavy on the tonka with a synthetic sweetness, but very, very pleasant and a balsamic note to go with it. As far as performance goes, I get extra good longevity from this, but with good projection only in the first hour, then it seats closer and closer to the skin. For the low price this comes at, it's a great buy if you like sweet-aromatic fragrances

I have barely tried the original Le Male and Ultra Male but I definitely sensed something familiar to Gourmand Leather (I wouldn't know how close they are but the similarity is evident). I really like this fragrance, I'm very satisfied with the longevity and silage (even though people report Zara has progressively "worsened" the performance through its iterations). Needless to say, this is intended as a sweet clubbing fragrance but I get some mint as well so I also wear it in the day and even in warmer days. Also I've found myself layering over this one in summer, it's usually 2 sprays of Gourmand Leather and then 4 sprays of a fresh citrus fragrance over it.

Sweet fragrance. I most certainly don't see people above 30 wearing this one. I can't comment on whether this is a clone or not as I haven't tried JPG Ultra Male at the time of writing this review. I think it smells sweet, almost like a perfume candy. Although I love the smell, I can only see this as a teenager - young adult group fragrance. It's more feminine than I would like to admit to be honest. Yet, it still beats so many fragrances in my perfume collection. I would say it's a really great scent for the price, but I still haven't figured out a use case scenario for this one! maybe if you went out to babysit or interact with younger kids? who knows.

I finally found a bottle of the 2019 version and i can easily say that this is better than the 2022 version. The 2022 version has an extremely overwhelming and prominent iris note, it's almost nauseating basically. Here, in the 2019 version, you get a perfect balanced iris with a fruity undertone, literally better in any way The 2022 version it's basically a mixture between L'Homme Parfum Intense and Ultra Male, the 2019 version is instead a lot more closer to Ultra Male but still, it doesn't reach Afnan 9pm which is still the best alternative to Ultra Male. Performances are the same on both version by the way. 9/10

absolute best zara fragrance you can pick up. imo the 2019 blend doesn't differ that much from the 2022 blend. either way, amazing value for decent to slightly above average sillage and an amazing iris-y, fresh fragrance that can still be worn in winter. in my experience, it radiates significantly better when it's on clothes. however, if you want to wear it on your skin, just put on some moisturizer beforehand. the bergamot and iris are much more prominent. i'd actually say there's little to no leather. doesn't change the fact that it's one of the best fragrances in my collection. definitely worth a try.

Gave it a few sprays before going out to meet friends, and couldn't smell it after a while, didn't think anything more. Was having a drink and some eats at one of the local drinking establishments, when the waitress who served us came up to us and said she would stand close to us while waiting for customers as I smelled so nice. She even asked me what I was wearing. I really like the iris on this and unlike alot of Zaras this lasts, although you may not notice, others will. For me a nighttime cool weather scent, bought the twin pack with rich leather, this one winner.

I was very curious about this juice i bought it yesterday and i tried today at a very cold day and i just want to say that this zara fragance is awesome the smell is lovely at the beginning you get a very sweet iris with leather which is very enjoyable then becomes in my opinion more darker the dry down im blown away you want to keep smelling this all night long so in my opinion works perfectly in a cold day and in the night if want to go party this will do perfectly and for the price is great just 2 words , GREAT FRAGRANCE

A nice sweet, warm, and spicy opening. Gourmand-ish dry-down. Smells just like JPG Ultra Male except less pear (if any at all) and less of the OG Le Male DNA like mint and lavender notes. Performance is just as good if not better than Ultra Male. They both get a bit too nauseatingly sweet in the dry down for me, especially since this projects like crazy! For the price if you like Ultra Male but not sure if you want to pull the trigger on a FB, definitely give this a try

Gourmand Leather is a re-release as is common with ZARA. Obviously inspired by JPG Ultra Male, this is not a direct replacement but rather a less 'sticky' version with hints of dry tobacco smoke, not far off from ZARA Intense Dark Exclusive. If you find Ultra Male too sweet, you should like this one. Price to performance ratio is spot on.

Not too appealing close up, but the iris and the quality of this long-lasting leather at this price make this a no-brainer. Notes only found in higher end manly and classy fragrances can be found in this. The leather and iris can even be used for layering with another fragrance, as base or shadow notes!!!

This is back, in the more simple bottle with a glossy plastic cap and around 15% price increase. Amazing juice definitely! It reminds me of 9.0 by Zara but Iris is not as prominent and this simply smells better and more refined. A steal for the price and one of Zara's best releases!

This is really close to Ultra Male. From the first spray you can detect the specific "pear" accord, altough pear isnt listed as a note. Dry down is powdery with a slight sugary pear accord. Really nice, warm and cozy scent. Longevity could be better.

Batch 30.08.2022. bought yesterday. sprayed it at 11am, my wife asked me when she came home from work at 6pm, what perfume it is... the perfume was very strong until I showered around 11pm. TOO SATISFIED

Man this is something else not a %100 copy of a ultra male this is way more deep, dark, manly but lack of fruity notes this thing had no pear but ı love much more this parfume then JPG ultra male.

Smells like JPG Ultra Male, performance wise - it's better than current UM releases. Tested on my skin and clothes. I like Ultra Male more, but GM is cheap as chips. Buy it.

very sweet one, openning a little synthetic, smells very similar to jean paul gaultier ultra male but without the top pear note and without the creamy smell.

Similar to JPG Ultramale and Gourmand leather 2017, the pear sweet note is toned down a bit. Good performance too 👍

Amazing stuff, lasts for HOURS!

This perfume is alike Ultra Male indeed :) On clothes stays and projects strong and long time, on my skin not that great. I like the smell, it's sweet pear, I can't feel any leather. It's more for the evening time and colder month, because it is really sweet and thick, Ultra Male was lighter and easier to wear for me. I had Ultra Male too, but now already it costs too much, Zara Gourmand Leather is better option.

Another great scent from Zara. It's very sweet and warm, best for late fall and winter. Smells almost exactly like Ultra Male drydown. Performance is very good. Unfortunately it's discontiniued. Scent: 8/10, Performance: 8/10, Price: 10/10

Clone of JPG Ultra Male. To me worth a skip, if your looking for a better clone definitely check afnan 9pm over this. Zara Gourmand Leather is really similar to JPG Ultra male don't get me wrong it gives you that sweet notes and the vibes but the quality is way worse. To me it's way more sticky and heavy blended which makes all the notes go bam bam and u just smell like ab loud candy (joop homme vibes, actually worse). Itis heavier than the og Ultram ale thus it doesn't project as much- and also sticks to you like hell. To me the projection is too weak for the club yet it's too dense for and intimate encounter, especially it being so sweet and less airy it can sicken and overpower someone really close to you IMO. I'm not a fan of that sweet fragrances but I can apreeciate ultra male.This one giving extremely similar vibes and can take you somewhere in this direction but I wouldn't say it's worth it.

This is way more similar to Code Profumo than I have been willing to admit to myself before. I have owned and worn and loved Gourmand Leather for a fairly long time now. Several years in fact. I have also owned Ultra Male for a couple of months. And a curious thing happened to me. At first I thought wow, Gourmand Leather really is such an close fragrance to Ultra Male that it's almost uncanny. But over the weeks and months I noticed more and more differences. Ultra Male is fresher, and to me feels more centered around the top notes whereas Gourmand Leather shines with its heart notes scent to me. They are still very similar of course but they could almost be an EdT and EdP versions of the same scent. So as I slowly realized all the ways these two aren't similar, I started wondering what Gourmand Leather is also similar to then. And I went out and tested Code Profumo. This wasn't my first time smelling it but I only had a passing familiarity with the scent. But this time it hit me. Code Profumo is really similar to Gourmand Leather. It has the sweetness, the smoothness but also the kind of bitter almost floral middle that you get in Gourmand Leather but not in Ultra Male. I am now getting more and more convinced that Gourmand Leather is closer to Code Profumo than to Ultra Male. This is important to me because Gourmand Leather seems to be gone for good from Zara, they didn't bring it back this year (yet?) after bring some version of it on the shelves every year since they first released it. And I love Gourmand Leather. Now that I own both I know I love it more than Ultra Male (which I also like for the record). But the Zara situation means that one day I will run out and will need a replacement. And when that day comes I think will choose Code Profumo rather than Ultra Male (I still haven't tried Afnan 9pm so I can't say anything about that one yet but it's on my radar).

Hey guys, The review is just about my experience as newbie. The opening is pretty harsh and sweet, in-fact I felt a bit of headache on the first try. But still coming to conclusion on first try would be a bad decision always. So gave it some more tries almost for 3 days. Then this turns out to be good. Since opening is harsh and sweet but later bring comfort and pleasant smell. I am in a region of wild winter and wild summer (-35 C to +35 C ), I just started using on a hot summer day and the fragrance could coupe up with weather very well. Projection is around 3 to four hours but the fragrance remains on cloth more than anyone could expect. Do not spray on skin as I felt a bit of irritation, spray on cloths and that would give you a good result too. I usually spray just three stokes. Projection *** Fragrance **** Active phase *** Passive phase **** Cost effective ***** Bottle *** Overall ***&1/2 Finally do not compare with other perfume, a good grab for the price. Pocket friendly.

Bears a strong resemblance to Ultra Male, which I picked up a year after my purchase of this for 32 USD. When testing, I'd always viewed Ultra Male as a simplistically constructed, though likeable, common cologne. No notes to speak of, just sweet. Smelling these two in close conjunction, I believe you can tell the difference only up close. UM is creamier, more refined, more professionally done, notes of fruit and pear more distinguishable etcetc but you're not here to read that. Ultra Male at its height is still a far cry from classy and nuanced, and you don't purchase UM to sit around differentiating "clarysage" from "caraway". Zara's note list has the right idea: We'll just say it smells like leather, iris and uhhhhh what's a citrus, bergamot! Let's call it gourmand leather and feature nothing remotely gourmand in our perfume pyramid, which is just set dressing for a one-man-show where the main character saunters onstage, gets complimented 34 times before exiting stage left.

It's available again! They put it in the new style of bottle, like for example the Tobacco collection and increased the price a little. I'm glad they brought it back, in my opinion it's probably the best scent Zara has ever released. It's like an EdP version of Ultra Male in that it's very similar but more focused on the middle and base notes. I haven't smelled the version in the new bottle, hopefully they didn't change it but it used to have great performance too. Definitely give this one a try and don't let the idea that this is "just a club fragrance" or "just a clone" spoil it for you. It's smooth and super wearable evem though it is sweet.

As was already mentioned by basically everyone, this fragrance smells extremely close to JPG Ultra Male. My only issue with Gourmand Leather - and the only difference with Ultra Male in my opinion - is that it is quite harsh and unpleasant when smelled up close to the skin. But back away a few inches, and you'll basically smell Ultra Male. For the money, you can't go wrong with this one. Excellent longevity and good projection, nice dry-down, despite the mediocre opening (in my opinion). For the money, this is a great fragrance for clubbing and nighttime during the fall and winter.

This is indeed not available on the Zara website anymore (spring 2020). But despair not! I think the fragrance must have been selling really well because they already released three times under different names/bottles (original Gourmand Leather, the 2018 version and Hi-Lo Country, all are the same scent). Thus if you are sad about missing out on this gem, I think you have a decent chance of them bringing it back for the fall-winter season, maybe with a different name.

I never sampled Ultra Male, so I can't compare it. It opens with sweet fruity chemical(not bad), then settles to orris or iris?. I don't smell leather, so I'm not sure. It bit overwhelming first, I thought it will be beast mode because the opening is so strong on my skin. However, after 1 hr it settles with moderate projection on my skin. It lasts about 4+ hrs on my skin. Grab or try it if you like a sweet fragrance. 7/10

It's available again on the European Zara online website as of December 2020. Seems to be some old stock, not a rerelease. Might be interesting for some people. This is one of the best scents from Zara in my opinion but they also keep rereleasing it with different bottles and names so maybe if you miss out on this opportunity you'll get more in the coming months.

Very similar to JPG Ultra Male. For under $19 (3.3) it is def worth the purchase. The ingredients (and quality) are slightly different and cheaper, but it smells just as good and lasts just as long, around 6-9 hrs. I don't know how this compares to the Zara 2017 version, but the bottle looks slightly cheaper. Highly recommended.

Tested this today at the Zara store, coincidentally, I happened to be wearing Ultra Male that day, and lemme tell you, they're exactly the same. The opening is 90% similar to Ultra Male, the dry down is 100% Ultra Male. If you like that sexy sweet DNA, go for it, much cheaper, though I still love my Ultra Male.

The opening on this harsh (first 20 mins) dries down to a nice sweet tonka/vanilla dry down smells very modern. I have Ultra Male and gourmand leather and would say the opening to dry down transition is way smoother with Ultra Male. The Gourmand Leather opens up harsh but the dry down is about 90% ultra male.

My prediction was correct, it's available on Zara's website again as of May 2020. It's called Gourmand Leather but it has the 120ml bottle of Hi-Lo Country. I just hope they didn't change the formula.
