Hipster Oud

I just got this one in the mail so I haven't had any time at all to get to know Hipster Oud (approx. 2 hours since I sprayed) but I had to write my initial thoughts on it as I was very skeptical in the beginning. I was in a bit of a rush when I ordered them, I basically threw some extra bottles in my cart while purchasing something else as there was a heavy discount on them and I thought to myself "why not?". Zara has been impressing me lately and I happen to love the ups and downs of blind buying. As it turns out most of my blind buys are successful and this order was no exception. Two of the fragrances I got were Perpetual Oud and Hipster Oud. When I sprayed Hipster Oud on I was immediately turned off by a watery note that also smelled a bit like strawberries? Or Watermelon? I have no idea what it reminded me of to be honest but it smelled watery and sharp and my nose was like "nope". But perhaps 15 minutes in I could smell something sweet and that sharp water had dialed down a lot. I quite liked it then. Another 15 minutes in and I sniff again and to my confusion I smelled Oud Satin Mood. I hopped on Fragrantica to see if it was supposed to be a clone of that but no, not at all. I went through every single review to see if I was alone in this and I found one other reviewer that mentioned this, so I guess I'm not completely going insane, lol. I am by no means saying you should get this as a cheaper alternative to OSM, it doesn't smell exactly like it, but by the 30-60 minute mark I definitely am reminded of it. It's sugary sweet, but not too dense or heavy. In the beginning I smell sharp, watery sweetness, I can't even distinguish what exactly it is I'm smelling and at that stage I don't care for it too much. But around 15-30 minutes in it has settled nicely and then I smell sweet and sugary roses and something darker, a slight burning(?) smell in the background - perhaps that's oud and as I've never smelled oud as a single note I can't know what it's supposed to smell like - but it's not off putting, it's rather cozy, warm and sexy. Around that time I also start to smell the vanilla and amber and the watery note has taken a step back but it's still there. At this strength I actually like it and feel like it adds to the fragrance instead of dominating it. I'm almost 3 hours in at this point so I can't really comment on longevity but so far I can smell it on my skin where I sprayed it very well and what I sprayed on my sweater is very noticeable, my coworker smells me from an arms length at this point - so far so good. And I will update the review after I've given it some time to settle from the traveling, but just within the first 3 hours of wearing I'm loving it. Oh and by the way - I keep seeing people knocking it down because it apparently smells "mass appealing" and "juvenile" - two phrases I keep seeing thrown about in a lot of fragrance reviews as those are supposed to be the ultimate insults to fragrances along with "grandma" and "bug spray". When the term "mass appealing" is used to explain that yes, many people would like this, that's fair, but for that to be an insult just gives me heavy pick me vibes. Chocolate is also "mass appealing", should we stop eating that to be different and cool? I don't care if I smell the same fragrance a lot on others, nor do I care if others think to themselves "jeez, she smells generic" when they smell me. Which I doubt they do anyway. This smells lovely and many people would love it. That's not a bad thing in my opinion. Edit February 14th. 24. I've worn Hipster Oud repeatedly since I got it and just received a large backup bottle already since it turned out to be a big love for me. Longevity, projection and sillage are amazing, this lasts hours on my skin and days on my clothes. People regularly comment on it, sometimes even hours after I've sprayed it on so the performance is wonderful, especially given the price. And it has shot to the top 3 of most complimented fragrances I own, I get a compliment every time I wear it from family, friends, coworkers and the occasional stranger. I absolutely love it. And just for fun; last Saturday night I went out with some friends and decided to layer Hipster Oud with La Nuit Trésor, because why not, and that combination is lethal. I don't think I've ever gotten so many compliments on how I smell ever. Can't complain about that ❤️

I will forever be so sad and mad that you can't get this fragrance at the store anymore, at least where I live. I bought it by pure accident. I was supposed to buy Bohemian oud but had taken the wrong package at the store. But when I smelled this at home. ISTG, I have gone through the 100ml bottle so fracking fast over the last year and now I try to save every last drop of it. It's so sweet and juicy. The blackcurrant and saffron notes make me roll my eyes to the back of my head every time. The oud is so smooth and soft on the background, definitely suitable for anyone who isn't big on oody fragrances but is still looking for that smooth rose oud base. It's extremely ideal for any weather or occasion. I've worn this to work, out, class you name it. It's not offensive or cloying at all. I have to say it might not be the most lasting or projecting fragrance of mine but for the price I paid for it, it's easily one of the best purchases in my collection. Obviously, I'm not big on supporting Zara anymore and wouldn't probably get more of this even if they had it. Sad to see there isn't anything quite like it on the market today, everything that would seem like it is either discontinued or extremely expensive. If anyone has a "dupe" or anything similar to this in mind please please please let me know.

I actually ended up really like this one! I don't get the scratchy or metallic undertone at all, perhaps it's a skin chemistry thing. As someone who really likes roses (and doesn't like orange blossom), I enjoyed this more than Mojave Ghost, I feel like Hipster Oud makes it a little more sensual & classy rather than the clean & classy vibe Mojave Ghost has. I wouldn't say I like white florals but to an untrained nose, it's blended very well and barely detectable. I have more guidance on my other arm. People online said it smells like a nice and clean hoohaa after a while, and that's true after 4-5 hrs XD. But before that, it smells complex but not very enjoyable for me at least. It started clean, then progressed into an almost dirty and dusty quality, the dry down being the most wearable. Hipster Oud overall was much more of an enjoyable experience. I really hope they keep this one for a while because it's absolutely beautiful.

I've had this fragrance for about a year and it's highly impressive. Zara definitely did a big one here. I receive so many compliments EVERY time I wear this out. She's a TKO on her own, but I like to layer this over Urban Indulgence's Cocoa Shea Souffle in "Cocoa Butter Cashmere" (awesome stuff- keeps you moisturized and smelling incredible) for that extra OMG effect. Hipster Oud performs and wears like a niche fragrance, definitely leaving the wearer in a nice scent bubble. People will definitely compliment you or ask what it is you're wearing. I also want to take a moment to shoutout Zara for making quality fragrances and prioritizing affordability. Not only is HO within a great price range, but consumer's also receive a a sizeable amount of product as well. My standout notes: amber, pink pepper, orange blossom and saffron! 10/10, definitely recommend.

This is such a pretty fragrance. At first I didn't give this collection a chance because I thought that the Oud will be heavy but it's not the case, especially with this one. I cannot detect any Oud at all. It's very feminine without being sweet, it's powdery, soft and can suit any occasion. The rose is super well blended with the other notes. Little update: Ended up getting the scent. Just wanted to mention that you can smell the Oud. I was mistaken before since I expected a lot more from the name. The Oud is very very faint but it's there. Perfect if you're a total beginner and not ready to go bold with the Oud. This became an everyday scent.

After reading & watching reviews I decided this would be the first to try of Zara's 2022 Oud Collection. On my first sniff I was reminded of Fred Hayman Delicious Cotton Candy (my high school days), then it settled into florals and vanilla. I don't get oud at all which is fine. It's only been a few hours but I can still smell it on my skin, I'm not sure about the longevity because I like to test in different environments like work, brunch with the girls or a dinner night etc... But so far I like it and can see me layering it with a few others. Red Temptation last on my skin and clothes a long time as well as Rose Gourmand.

One of the best perfumes I've ever had. I capture a very smoky quality, the pepper, amber and oud are the most obvious notes. It beautifully dries down into a strong, extremely sensual scent as it reveals the musk, which is quite animalic, in a "post coitus sweat" kind of way. It is a dark, smoky, complex, and extremely alluring scent. I think it works as a sharable scent, but tending more towards female. This is a round perfume. Everything works. In my perception, more a night out kind of scent, but nothing that stops me from wearing it all the time. Affordable, and dense. Perfect for bohemian, poetic, sensual people.

My favorite from this collection. I mostly get a powdery rose with an edge, and it definitely smells more expensive than it is. I wouldn't classify this as sweet or juicy, maybe because I have a sizable collection of fruity perfumes, so my threshold is quite high. What I like most about this one is its versatility. I think it fits any occasion and can be worn from fall to spring. It's a great option for anyone looking for a somewhat unique crowd-pleaser. If I had to choose only one Zara fragrance, it would be a battle between Golden Decade and this one.

What a yummy and comforting fragrance ! Hipster Oud is slightly sweet and gourmand. It's soft and can be worn for any occasion. I can't stop smelling myself with this one. The rose isn't too strong which is a great thing IMO and the overall perfume is well blended. It's definitely more on the feminine side. The sillage is moderate but the longevity is pretty good (6h on my skin). A great and safe blind buy. I've mostly worn it during colder months and it's beautiful. However it almost disappear during hotter days.

Wow, this one lasts all day! This is a sweet cosy amber, rose scent with saffron - that's slightly smoky. The dry down is creamy amber warm and not too sweet. Initially had a 30ml and have bought a larger bottle. I fear Zara might discontinue this, as they often do with some of their best fragrances. I recommend testing before buying. I was very pleasantly surprised by this perfume. And today it lasted on me from morning to evening with no top up. I can still smell it very well at 8pm!

This is not Intense Cafe, it is way way better for much less money. There’s oud and musk but perfectly balanced with rose and some gourmands notes but it doesn’t get too sweet, it just tiptoes the line. This fragrance is so comforting. I sprayed the night gown and towels with it and they still smell nice days after. My choice for just chilling at home with friends or drinking a cup of tea. Autumn/winter leaning fragrance but I think it at be also interesting in hot weather.

I just finished watching Cozywife TV on YouTube and she mentioned this one gives her the same vibe as Gentle Fluidity Gold and I'll be damn, indeed it does. Today I picked up hazelnut (Nutella ish) note from this fragance and I'm so surprised it's giving me Rose🌹, Chocolate🍫 with hazelnut and vanilla, I'm so shocked because it wasn't like this in my first impression. This fragance is super feminine to my nose.

A gorgeous scent. Those who compare the vibe to Rose Gourmand are correct. Doesn't smell alike—but same family. Unlike other reviewers, I do indeed get the oud. It's subtle, but its definitely there and beautifully done. Rosy, strawberry/caramel syrup, warm spicy vanilla with a good measure of oud-y darkness and sophistication. A successful blind buy!

Trying to get into more floral fragrances as I tend to wear heavy ouds or winter fragrances, and need more warm weather appropriate scents. There isn’t much oud in this at all, but it is a beautiful floral scent. A little fruity but not too much, with a soft, sweet, powdery dry down. Super feminine! My new office everyday fragrance

It started as a rosy fruity oudy woody. Nothing special, not very bad, but not that good either. 2hours later I suddenly smelled Mohave ghost- started to sniff my husband because I thought maybe it's him? Finally it was my arm that smelled like it. And I loved it! Gosh- why didn't I just buy it ...😋

I’m seriously getting Burberry her vibes from hipster oud If you have a wicked sweet tooth you might prefer this one it reminds me of haribo strawbs or strawberry bubbalicous 🫣 Considering the extreme sweetness I am not nauseated what so ever. Big W!

Very nice feminine perfume. Soft, fresh, clean with layer of sweetness that makes everything in harmony. To me floral notes are most dominant followed with pink pepper and musk, in background are fruity, amber notes. Recommending 👍🏻💕

Rose, Vanilla, Amber and a tiny little bit of Oud. Very cosy, comforting fragrance. My husband loves it. It's the cheapest fragrance I have in my collection, but it's the only one he compliments every time I wear it.

Zara likes to sell out on some of their best fragrances, and keep the most basic ones. This is a beautifully made rose, saffron & Oud fragrance. Certainly one of the most unique ones in my collection.

My goodness this is good. Candied rose at its finest. I only slightly smell the other notes but this is delicious. I’m not very particular about it not a tho facing oud in it. I’d bathe in this!

Before you read any of my review just know that this is for sure a perfume that needs to macerate ! Zara fragrances have never struck a real chord with me despite many years of going in and out the store and smelling everything in their shelves. However, I went in on a whim today feeling bored and alone and felt like smelling some fragrances. I don’t know what made me smell the ‘oud’ range as I usually hate oud smells but I sprayed both bohemian oud and hipster oud on my arms and after a while of getting annoyed trying to smell stuff with people in my way I walked off to look upstairs. As I was walking round I got the most DELIGHTFUL cosy whiff from both scents, where I’d sprayed hipster oud I could smell something warm addictive, slightly juicy and somewhat fresh on my arm. I’m usually a strictly gourmand girl but Hipster oud really surprised me, the oud note is very minimal but adds a slightly smoky depth that makes this perfume a little quirky. I avoid florals, but this is the perfect amount. I feel as if the blackcurrant note really brightens the florals to something juicier. The oud makes a lovely velvet background for all the other notes to melt gently together. To me this smells like hugging a beautiful middle aged woman in a floral dress and getting that warm sweet scent of her bosom. I do mildly understand the wet wipe comments, but to be honest that strangely makes me like it more. It reminds me of when my cousins and aunties had new born babies and they’d be wafting around with pushchairs full of baby stuff in long floral dresses to cover their fading bumps. I also think the wet wipe comments come from this strange dewy quality it has to it.

This is Rose Gourmand's little sister, a candied-rose/vanille/oud cocktail in a style of perfume I associate most strongly with Montale - Intense Cafe and others of the line - but at a much more reasonable price tag. This onr however is quite a light and airy take on that familiar rose/vanille/oud perfume base I'm talking about, and for me the vanilla is punchier and brighter here; the sweetness of rose, while very present, is not completely dominant.... with the oud note being less prominent and just a subtle note in the mix. This is definitely more generally wearable than Rose Gourmand; while I love RG, it's super girly and you sort of smell PINK in my opinion... While this one is less of a sugarbomb, more.... lightly flirty. Arguably younger/ more youthful than RG too (though perfume shouldn't have age imo). Hipster Oud IS different enough from Rose Gourmand to justify having both, if you like rose perfumes, in my opinion. If you're looking to pick one, go for Rose Gourmand if you want something really sweet, really feminine and really sugary with your rose, and pick Hipster Oud if you still like the sound of all that, but prefer a slightly softer and fresher take on a candied rose frag. Both are absolutely excellent fragrances and a complete steal at the Zara price.

Closing my eyes I knew that Hipster Oud was talking to me and certainly about a well-known place. Something in my memory and not something related to summer time. A comforting feeling. It took me a while to figure out what it reminded me of, it is usually almost immediate. Everything became clearer to me a few minutes after application, set aside for a moment my beloved summer day heat. Champs-Élysées a few years ago, New Year's Eve. The luminescent billboard featured an image of a beautiful diaphanous Jessica Chastain, her hands dripping with fresh purple paint. Refined temptress. I remember having reached, walking bundled up, one of the many perfumeries on the Avenue, having entered as a way to be able to absolutely test that perfume, Manifesto YSL. Hipster Oud is so sensual, spicy enough, does not project much but persistently dignified, I should have bought it by now.

This one is so interesting. I smelled it because of the comparisons to (dried down) Amouage Guidance. At first it's a "not no" Guidance comparison, but it's more like Mojave Ghost (with rose) for the first 2-3 hours, then it turns into something also like Guidance, but sweeter and less dank/salty. I never thought of Guidance and Mojave Ghost as being remotely related, but here we are. I agree Hipster Oud is a more wearable "older sister" of MG with added rose. I loved Mojave Ghost scented soap, but did not like the perfume -- in the way that a hint of anise is nice, but too much is licorice. MG was just too intense and smelled like a permanent marker, but the soap was beautiful to me, so it's not that I disliked the notes, just the intensity/concentration. But Hipster Oud is very beautiful and wearable. $18 for 30ml is a hard yes.

A successful blind buy I must say.. I was on Tiktok recently and the review of this fragrance runs on my fyp.. Straightaway visited ZARA app and found it - placed an order with 5 other scents.. When it arrives, I'm speechless - I can't tell how much I love the opening.. I sprayed my sofa with this because I was afraid I won't like it 😂 but it surprisingly good. The next day I sprayed on my body as I was getting ready to work - it smells divine, better on my body compared to on card or fabric. I imagine a lady working in office come back from work take shower dress nicely and go out again for dinner with herself - confidently and fearlessly..

I wore it to work today for the first time in a rather conservative way because I was afraid of the burning smell it has at the beginning. I am confident now that, on my skin, it converts to the most comforting, yummy, enveloping, almost gourmand, sweet desert. It felt really good throughout the day as I was smelling myself all the time, as if I was in a cloud of fluffy comfort. The cloud had a peachy color in my head. The overall feeling for me was "Wow, is that me? Yes, it is me and it is lasting, comfy yumminess." Needless to say, the burning smell that initially bothers me, goes away, at least on me.

off the bottle it smells like a vanilla rose gourmand (which isn't necessarily bad, but I didn't expect anything crazy from it) but as soon as I sprayed it on my arm i got hit with imo the most intense juicy replication of a pear I've come across so far that i personally really enjoy. dries down to a woodsy powdery rose. blind bought this a while ago at an off-price retailer store and hoping to get good use out of it.

A fruity rose gourmand much in the style of the other Zara release Rose Gourmand / Mancera Roses Vanille but softer, more powdery and fruitier, and prettier overall. The color pink is definitely suitable. I get pear, although it isn’t listed. Maybe there’s some saffron but it doesn’t come across as middle eastern otherwise. Has nothing to do with Oud. Decent longevity and good sillage.

I was pleasantly surprised by this scent - it’s a syrupy rose, juicy pear and amber concoction with admirable longevity and presence. I detect only a vague resemblance to Amouage Guidance, but it is a good perfume in its own right - sticky sweet, fruity and powdery at the same time. Considering the sale price I got it for - an absolute steal!

Hipster oud smells refreshing. It’s perfect for spring/summer season. Every time I used Hipster oud, it reminds me like some sort of a luxury shampoo scent. Don’t get me wrong. It’s smells good, it’s feminine, very sweet and fruity. Good to wear for casual, daytime scent. Also, I can’t pick up the Oud notes that much.

Once you get past the initial burning note this is a really lovely scent. It's jammy rose with a berry fruitiness and woody, really cozy and subtle on the skin. I would say that if you liked rose gourmand you will most likely like this one, while they are quite different there is something similar in the dry down.

A light oudy scent with a soft smoky touch and elegant saffron. The rose is the most prominent note, giving the fragrance a refined and pleasant character. Smooth and well-balanced, it feels easy to wear with moderate longevity. Subtle, sophisticated, and enjoyable — a scent to reach for from time to time

Hipster Oud smells like Xerjoff Dama Bianca with a rose note on my skin. It sits closer to the skin and would make a great day scent. My only issue is that the longevity needs to be improved, but at the same time I can't really complain at the Zara price point.

This immediately reminded me of Velvet Passion by Kiko...the same synthetic oud with rose. Not much else going on. So I don't need it as I already own a big bottle of Kiko and I'm not into oud whatsoever

Oddly enough, this works better for me during the summer compared to winter! The sweetness comes out more in the summer, which I like. Another successful Zara purchase!

Very nice scent, but there is nothing that special in this smell for me, I just got it so I’ll test it in a different situations For now I’ll say it’s okay, 6/10

Pretty. I usually don’t like rose but I fell in love with Perpetual Oud. So I gave this one a chance. Honestly it’s very good for a rose scent, different.

BEAUTIFUL PERFUME !! JUST GORGEOUS

To me, this perfume smells differently depending on it being sprayed on my skin or clothes. I sprayed it on my shirt the other day, and the oud was too overpowering that I felt nauseated. It also stayed for at least 12 hours on it. Somehow, yesterday I sprayed it directly on my skin (pulse points), and it was soft, pretty, yet warm. It wasn't so overpowering at all like when I sprayed it on my shirt. So, from what I tried on my skin, the sillage was moderate; people can smell it when you walk by, but not from the other room (like the red temptation). Longevity, somehow, the rose only stayed with me for the first half an hour before amber and oud dominated for the next hour or two, after that it turned to a skin scent. Bottom line: it offers an ultra feminine scent. Although, it smells soft, but heavy enough that you should not wear it in a hot summer. You would love this if you like sweet notes like amber and vanilla. You would be disappointed if you look for a rosy perfume (from the most voted note above). I would personally layer this fragrance with anything with rose or citrus dominant just to make it less sugary.

I swear to god, there must be pear & vanilla in the notes! This is a gourmand, fruity amber scent. I have to be careful to not overspray or it gets cloyingly sweet. 2-3 sprays is enough and it last up to 8 hours. It's like Escada on steroids. Quite juvenile and cloyingly sweet for my liking. Not for signature nor statement. I have to be in the mood for strong fruity sweet when I wear this. Don't let the name scare you off if you're not into oud, cause the oud is non-existent, so great for beginners. There's a TINY hint of Burberry her in there, but like a Burberry her Exclusif...the oriental take due to the rose and amber. The florals mix well and blooms very creamy. A very casual, "hipster" scent. I think it’s OK, don't love it. I think this is the perfect scent to buy a teenager who would like to smell fruity sweet or maybe just getting into perfumes. Update: Sold cause it was so juvenile and way too sweet.

After reading great reviews, I quickly sprayed this in store and bought a bottle. It took me about 10 paces walking out of the shop to realise that I couldn’t live with this. It’s sharp around the edges, a bit screechy and not refined nor rounded. On me, it’s like raspberry ripple ice cream where the sweet vanilla is curdling against my skin and the sour red berry tone gives an acidic high note. Luckily there’s a smoother suede element to ground it with fluffy white musk. It’s very feminine and didn’t last long. I got my refund but this has me excited to experience Amouage's Guidance now (if of course this is similar). I adore Amouage and imagine that if there is a well crafted, luxury version of this scent then it’s going to be amazing. Zara just has to work within a budget to make it affordable for the masses. Great for a gift for a teenage girl/young woman as it’s fun and feminine.

Hyped up by Bohemian Oud, i picked a bottle of this as well blindly, and i can say, it couldn't be further away from it unfortunately. This one is dominated by the florals, and the "rose" smells awfully close to pure geranium here for the most part. "Oud" - not so much, if at all. People might say "why are you expecting oud in a 20$ fragrance" but i know ZARA are perfectly capable of doing a pretty convincing Oud recreation in other fragrances, but not in this one - the focus is quite different. Green florals with a hint of resins - if that's in your ballpark, feel free, but its not my cup of tea. The drydown settles into a sweeter fruity direction with the green florals not being so dominating, but i can't call it a drastic development exactly, the composition is still mostly the same.

I get the resemblance with Mojave Ghost, i can indeed smell it in this. But i prefer Mojave Ghost because this one is a little sickening over time. It's more sweeter than Mojave Ghost and fits more to winter imo. I like the smell but not to smell it on myself all day. Maybe it's the amber which makes it a little nauseating to me and the blackcurrant which makes it sweeter. Mojave Ghost is softer, fresher and inoffensive.

This was a blind buy and a disappointment. Very soft oud. I don’t get the other notes like the rose or saffron. It’s not sweet just woody. I prefer rose gourmand to that one. This one doesn’t stay too long on me and has weak projection. I will keep it though because I find it an hassle to return things but maybe layer it with sweeter scents.

Not a love, but not a hate either... What makes me not particularly like this fragrance is something metallic smelling that my note picks up on. I thought I would love this scent, but the metallic-like note deters me from wearing this.

A fresh rose scent. Its oke, but a bit boring. I can imagine a Hello Kitty logo on it and nobody would question it. It lacks a little depth.

Good price for a decent floral oud I find the scent Unisex Bottle is basic but for £13 can't complain! 3.5/5

Not a safe blind buy imo, but it's cheap so if you decide to blind buy because of its affordability then buy at your own risk. Initial spray is absolutely awful. I'm so happy I only got the 30 mL bottle. I don't smell any discernable fruits. All I smell is a warm rose dipped in powdered sugar with a nasty metallic undertone. It just smells so weird to me. I don't understand where the metallic note is coming from. I honestly don't understand how this perfume has so many good reviews. The opening is so off-putting that I don't even want to wear this perfume even though the off-putting opening scent disappears after about 45 mins. It's not often that youtube and a review section on Fragrantica has me feeling buyer's remorse, but I'm disappointed with this one. Beautiful dry down but that opening ruined this perfume for me.
