Imperial Purple

The Florentine iris is a precious Tuscan flower, exported all over the world, called giaggiolo by the Tuscans and known to the eyes of the world as the lily of Florence. Because of its extraordinary resemblance to the elegant tropical flower, this marvellous flower, also known as the orchid of the poor, grows spontaneously in our region. To admire the flowering of the Florentine iris, it will be enough from late spring to go just outside the city. The intense and persistent scent is reminiscent of violets and literally inebriates the senses. What makes the Florentine Iris unique in the world does not lie in the beautiful flower. The rhizome jealously protects its exceptionality underground. Using almost manual artisan techniques, the latter is collected, processed and processed for sale and export. Imperial Purple, masterfully created by Ane Ayo, takes its name from the iris flower, purple, of course. When I think of Imperial, I can't help but relate it to the Medici family, Imperial implies royalty, and the Medici dominated Florence during the 15th century. Ayo's creation puts the seductive powdery purple flower on the backbone while other elements rotate around it, namely smooth leather and gourmand vanilla. While the formula of dusty green iris bedecked with leather and vanilla isn't groundbreaking, the result here is nothing short of mind-blowing. The scent begins with a floral explosion, a heavy verdant and powdery accord with lipstick-like undertones. Though dominant and intense, underneath is a faint citrus undertone of what I assume is a blend of bergamot and orange peel that lingers for a while. The initial stage is all about dry, waxy, and powdery iris. A sweet and slightly gourmand accord announces the arrival of the heart. On one side, spicy and pastry-like vanilla strives to mitigate the make-up nuance released by the iris rhizome. On the other side, a burnt musty nuance, a bit nutty, balances the scent emitted by the cereals. In the middle of this concoction, I get a dewy, jammy, and dry rosiness tinge, as if rose petals were also present. It is not too prominent and does not turn the fragrance into a rose-centred kind. Unexpectedly, in the dry-down Imperial Purple turns chocolaty and leathery. The former comes from the pralines, while the latter is a smooth suede, not the raw leather we meet in Full Moon over the Desert or Ombré Leather (2018) EAU DE PARFUM, whose powerful animal smell could be disturbing. The fragrance notes include vanilla, which I don't get too much. Instead, the smooth butteriness of the iris is still taking centre stage; other notes do not subside it. When I smell it closely, the leather note is quite distinct. A powdery and leathery accord remains on the blotter many hours and days later. A formal and classy fragrance, best suited for cold weather during the evenings and nights of fall and winter. It may not be as strong as the other pieces in the same series, but both projection and longevity are above moderate. It is similar to iris-based fragrances from the house Dior and Valentino, and the quality is superior to ZARA standards. I'm basing my experience on a bottle I've owned since April 2023.

Zara has been KILLING IT with these Men's Fragrances. Because they are perfectly Unisex and smell Niche. Better than 98% of the fragrances I've been sampling lately from a number of expensive niche houses. Kid you not. I'm not saying these will have the best longevity but so don't so many niche brands tbh. This one smells very Orris (Iris) to me and has something in common with another new favorite of mine - Phlur Not Your Baby. Except this would be a touch more Unisex compared to that one that leans more Feminine. This is a beautiful fragrance, if you like yourself a powdery iris/orris note then go ahead and try this. RECOMMENDATIONS for Other Great Zara Fragrances: Majestic Green is another great one (better version of Xerjoff Italica)... Intense Dark Exclusive is fantastic too, as well as Warm Rich Addictive (this one is a little weaker in projection but still a nice scent)... the Sand Dunes one is really good but doesn't last super long, maybe 3-4 hours (still love it though!)... Ebony Woods is a favorite of mine as well, very unique and has become addictive to me)... Energetically New York is fantastic if you want a lighter (but still present) version of Le Labo 33 (just be aware that some people's body chemistry can make this smell of pickles - personally I don't get that)... and Hipster Oud is a great "baby oud"... I would consider these all to be Unisex! Other ones that are more feminine-leaning: Fields At Nightfall is really good (This Is Her dupe)...lastly Rose Gourmand is good if you don't already own one of the many similar fragrances that's out there (I slightly prefer Roses Vanille though but they're very similar)... Oh yea - and Rose Marshmallow Candy smells very similar to Kilian Love Don't Be Shy. Hope this helps someone!! Go get yo'self some good cheapies!!

Since picking this one up several month ago, I've noticed I have a trend with this one. I find myself wearing it after a shower from working outside doing yard. Between Givenchy Gentleman Reserve Privee and Imperial Purple, these two are perfect fragrances to just enjoy their aura. The Iris, Praline and Vanilla generate that sweet, powdery creamy texture to rest on a base of woods wrapped in leather. Relative to Gentleman Reserve Privee, Imperial Purple feels overall lighter, but more dense in the sweetness. Especially in the opening. If these two were blankets, Imperial Purple would be airy and fluffy, where Reserve Privee would be thick and wooly. Both fantastic for their own reason. And different enough to warrant owning both. Not to mention, Imperial Purples Price is hard to resist. An absolute love from me.

I agree with other who says it has a powdery vib from Iris. On my skin, I don't pick up any leather tones. Instead I felt like it came across with a hint of petetulom vib..not as strong as Dior Fahrenheit. After it settled, I was able to pick some warm woodsy vib. After a good 2hrs, I was able to pick up a sweet notes mixed with green leaf..almost violet vib. I'm able to see why they called this cologne Imperial Purple. Longevity was decent, Sillage could have been better. In all, for the price point you shouldn't expect that WOW factor. All considering, it's not a drugstore cologne either. I'm going to give it a second try, I'm almost ready to buy it..one more sniff to be sure. 6.5/10

Passing by Zara i had the chance to smell this one along with regal white the latter is okay but imperial purple is really beautiful, i loved the iris and leather combination the praline adds some sweetness character to the fragrance. I have Valentino Uomo intense and samples of DHI, i think Imperial purple smells like Valentino more, not exactly a copy but on the same category. I love it so i bought it, and i still have to wear it and update on the performance. The price on this one is really good compared to the price of Dior :) I still have to try magnificent black

Smells really close to Prada l'homme to my nose. Smells fantastic!. Compared to Prada l'homme, this Imperial Purple has a bit of woodsy notes going on, which makes it smell more manly. I don't or almost don't smell leather in it but I guess the leather is making this smell less office clean (which is a good thing, since I don't see using prada l'homme outside office). Making it a really good perfume for date nights and of course still, office. Performance wise, It last all day on clothes and average on skin. So no worries, this is a banger!

This is definitely a play on Dior Homme Parfum but much brighter (not fresher) than Dior Homme Parfum. It's beautiful. Though it's perfectly unisex, I personally wanted to add a masculine touch to the scent by layering with Molecule 02. It HONESTLY didn't make much of a difference (to my nose) ATLEAST NOT immediately but I need to spend more time with it. Zara, you did your BIG ONE with this release. Next, I would like to smell the green one from this collection which is supposedly a play on vanilla/ cardamom.

It’s not Dior Homme Parfum, it’s not even in the ballpark. There’s iris and some leather but this is much fresher and nowhere near as rich or dark, also the vanilla and praline take it in a completely different direction. Neither is it close to the Valentino which is much more cold, powdery, and not as sweet. That all being said this is very nice on its own. It’s sweet iris with a touch of leather and woods. Fairly simple and straightforward. A good versatile option for days, nights, or casual wear.

I've never smelled Dior Homme Eau but I imagine this Zara smells very close. It's a brighter version of Dior Homme, more versatile and more mass appealing. I don't get much leather. It's a simple composition but it's very well made. Reminds me also of Lanvin Arpage Pour Homme, maybe it's just the iris and the color of the juice. I would wear Imperial Purple in about any situation. Now in the spring it's really fantastic.

Highly underrated. I don’t know about batch differences. I bought this when it first released batch 30240. Its a mix between prada l’homme intense and Dior intense. Side by side with prada l homme there is a difference. Prada is a lot more darker and smoother. But this fragrance is still a banger.

The older this fragrance gets, the more blended it smells and it’s more satisfying year after year. The iris used to feel ( not heavy ) but punchy , if that makes sense. But this years the base is more forthcoming to my nose - the vanilla-praline is amazing - Zara you did so good with this.

Seems like once a year Zara comes out with a banger! This being one of them. When I seen the notes of iris, cereal, and praline, I knew I have to get it. What you get is a sweet iris fragrance that smells so damn good. Good job Zara. Also please bring back unexpected fresh and spicy!

The batch number I have is 31160. It has a delicate iris powder feel, and blends well with other notes. It is a very beautiful scent. I bought three bottles online by mistake, and now I am very happy to have three bottles.

If you are looking for a similar fragrance, Tinted Twill by Massimo Dutti is a perfect substitute. It's 90% same, only it's missing the sweet base but still very close. And it's made by the same perfumer.

It's like a light version of Dior Homme Parfum. Lighter iris, lighter leather, lighter woods. They smell significantly different but the general idea is the same, just lighter and more commercial here.

Smells like the inside of a leather purse where make up products are kept, very powdery and well blended. It smells unisex to me I think I will purchase it for me

Zara has been releasing some bangers!!

This fragrance reminds me of the mixed scents that lingers in some high end perfumery... the drawers made of good, waxed wood full of luxury lipsticks, the sofisticated perfumes of the female clientèle still in the air blending with the smell of the expensive, new chamois shoes of their male companions...one of them a bored bad boy in leather jacket with just a spray of old earthy cologne on him...surely he doesn't take himself too seriously as to wear Dior Homme, or does he? I have given this a second chance, my impressions have changed a bit so I am here to write again a fair review. The opening is strong, strong woods with a general aromatic and piney/conifer undertone, which I enjoy a lot. It's a mix of very dry woody notes, with a crunchy feel probably given by the cereal. I think the cereal note is in here just for texture and not as an olfactive presence. It is much earthy too, but I can't quite distinguish what note could give this earthy (a bit turbid) effect. At this stage the scent has an old gentlemen vibe about it, it recalls a bit some old classic masculine cologne, at first this leaved me perplexed. There is nothing makeupy or feminine at all in the opening. The iris that starts to come forward is mesured, has something of lemony, and it is more aromatic then powdery. A little cold too...there is no warmness from praline or vanilla at all. In the middle the strong woody accords dance around some leather notes that smell very much like soft suede, it's not the usual leather of Zara (like in the Vibrant Leather series) or the strong animalic and raspy leather of Zara Full Moon Over the Desert, nor the accords Jo Malone uses for her more leathery Zara creations. I like it very much, it is soft and gentle. Now the scent has become much more unisex, and the iris has finally trasformed itself in to a makeupy one; it is sweet, a little waxy and a little powdery (not pasty like a proper lipstick yet not fully powdery as a face powder). The scent as a whole smells now like a leathery bag full of old makeup items, specially lipstick, some old cipria face compact and above all eyeshadow pencils (there is a bit of that pencil shaving cedar quality)! The powdery part smells a bit like violette too, but it is just suggested, nothing too Guerlain-esque about it. This is the stage I like the most, and finally I can see the resamblence to the various Dior Homme declination, even though I must say in Dior I find the iris much more strong (and of course much more superior in quality and nuances). The initial stage instead smells more like Valentino Uomo Intense, from what I remember about it. The woods in the middle have become even more strong if you can belive it! It is an overdose of woods, very much to my liking! I can feel they are a touch more creamy and mellow now but still the praline and vanilla are nowhere to be found. The dry down has a softer iris that, in this final stage, has become a bit more powdery, less waxy and more diffuse. The leather is different too...more masculine and raw in the dry down, a bit like a leather jacket, it has some animalic touches but it's not full on aggressive, the perfume maintains its armony. Fortunatelly a light sweet vanilla softens things even more. The woods are more light and intertwined with a light amber but still very much central. About the praline note...I don't know what to say...smelling from up close it seems there is none but when I catch whiffs of the perfume in the hair I pick that up...it has that posh perfume-y praline feel similar to La Vie Est Belle, but you don't smell proper sweet praline. I started to notice its presence since the final stage of the middle and all trough out the dry down. If I am right in my assessment then hats off to the perfumer Ane Ayo because she has taken a usually feminine and sickly sweet material and used it in a clever way, taking only the best it has to offer! Do not expect, after reading the notes and the brand's description, a gourmand iris or a strong sweet base. I tested this both on skin, clothes and paper and it isn't that kind of style. Praline acts quite like the trickster in here. Proper closing is given by an aromatic and tabacco-y dry down. A bit soapy too, and still much woody. Performance were good, in line with the others from the same collection, lasting on me for about 5 to 6 hours, dry down even more; projection was a bit lacking though, only first two hours were moderate, after it is pretty much close to skin, but I personally like it just as it is. Overall I find the scent unisex but more masculine leaning...it is kinda a menly version of the feminine Kelly Caleche from Hermes, which too is a "makeup bag" or "leather bag full of makeup" scent, but much dewy and more fresh. I am glad I have given this a second chance, it has enough complexity and nuance, it is not just a "dupe". I think it would fit perfectly on an elegant men, dressed in black but with some quirky touch in his style, maybe an expander on his hear, some tatoo or obscure jewelry. It can be splendidly refined on a woman too...I picture it on someone that dresses with rigid silhouettes and styles herself with some sooty and greasy 20's-ish smoky eyes! IMPORTANT: if you buy this or any of Zara refillable bottles please adjust them tightly to avoid leakage. Do this and there will be no problem!

I have a very large collection of niche and designer fragrances, and have worn my share of fragrances that have received unsolicited compliments. While I have owned a few Zara scents (Vibrant Leather, Rich/Warm/Addictive) that I thought were quite good, I mostly stayed away from them, as I questioned the quality of the fragrances overall. Then I went to a Zara store here in Vancouver, Canada to buy a few polo shirts and smelled 3 new fragrances (I bought all of them) - Majestic Green, Regal White and Imperial Purple. Out of the three, I probably like Majestic Green and Imperial Purple the best. I found Imperial Purple to be a smooth, sexy fragrance with a delicious iris note blended with leather and subtle sweet notes (vanilla/praline). This fragrance is well made, lasts quite long and projects moderately. I have owned a LOT of iris-based fragrances. Dior Homme/DHI/DHE/Prada L'Homme/Valentino Uomo/Valentino Intense, etc. etc. I love and still own all of those fragrances. As much as I love them all, I have never gotten a compliment on my first wearing. Here's what happened: I'm at a high-end drug store buying a bottle of shaving cream and chatting with the attractive sales associate. Within 1 minute of chatting with her and buying the shaving cream, she looked at me and said 'I feel odd saying this to you...but what fragrance are you wearing? It is beautiful. I love it'. 3 sprays. For $40 for a 100 ML EDP bottle, I am pleasantly surprised at the quality of the composition of some of the new Zara fragrances. I shouldn't be considering the designers of this specific line have the name of the perfumer on the bottle and they are all niche perfumers.

This is a good one. It opens up with a very Dior-esque waxy iris, which lasts half an hour or so, and smells great. This then fades and transforms into a soapy, fresher take on iris, with less clarity. This phase reminds me more of Prada L'Homme than DHI, and it lightens up this fragrance significantly. It then dries down to a musky, soapy, somewhat synthetic woody scent, which is extremely pleasant but quite faint - perfect for work or relaxed social situations I think. ALL Zara fragrances I have sampled have SOME sort of cheapness to their smell, either being straight-up synthetic and cheap smelling (which this isn't), or just "blurred", whereby the notes are more like clever chemical suggestions than clearly defined authentic notes. This one does feel slightly "blurred" to me. UPDATE: The performance is better than I realised. I wore it to work the other day, thinking it was fairly timid, but immediately got a "who smells nice?" type comment, and the scent lingered-on throughout the work day. It's a really elegant, clean one. 2nd Update: I recently smelled Valentino Uomo, and it seems that is the inspiration for this fragrance. Imperial Purple is now my daily 'office' scent. 3rd update: (after nearly 2 years) this is so floral and gives me a really uplifting, bright, elevated feel - it's lovely.

Got this on sale for like $16USD and it definitely does remind me a bit of Dior Homme. The iris accord in here has that waxy nature to it which is present across most of the Dior Homme line, or at least the OG Dior Homme line. It's a cheap, office-safe iris fragrance for the cooler weather. As the fragrance opens, it will probably remind you a lot of Dior Homme, but as it dries down it becomes somewhat of a greener, barber-shop type of fragrance. The biggest downsides to this fragrance are its longevity (only about 2-3 hours on me) and the atomizer. I understand companies want to do the whole refillable bottle thing to seem like they're not producing as much waste, but if you're gonna make a fragrance in a refillable bottle, at least make it worthy of being refilled!!! Since it was so cheap I don't mind periodically re-applying it, but for the usual asking price of $39.99USD I would definitely recommend that if you're looking to buy this fragrance at that price, steer clear.

Based on the notes and reviews, I expected something closer to Prada Black, but I don't think that's the right comparison. Yes, the iris is definitely there, giving the fragrance a soft, velvety texture that fits the "Purple" name perfectly. However, almost immediately a noticeable spicy-green accord appears, making it feel much fresher and more interesting than a typical powdery iris fragrance. As it dries down, it develops a smooth leathery, woody character that reminds me more of some leather Tom Ford fragrances and even Zara's own leather-style releases. To me, it almost feels like it opens somewhere between Majestic Green Zara and then gradually dries down toward Full Moon Over the Desert Zara, although without raspberry nuance. It's elegant, refined, easy to wear, and versatile enough for almost any occasion. A very solid fragrance, even if it didn't become my favorite Zara release.

I managed to try it out and have to say it smells great. The opening is highly reminiscent of the Dior Homme line but there is something fizzy and uplifting about it. I've never tried Dior Homme Eau but imagine this is how it would smell. It's like a fresher take on Dior Homme Original, still keeping the Iris and woody character but with a fizzy / fresh overtone. I own Bergamot Leather Spritz which is definitely heavier and slightly animalic so I think Imperial Purple would be much more wearable especially in warmer weather. Both however, share a slight synthetic smell in the dry down which is to be expected due to the quality of ingredients used. It smells like a low quality iris note which is odd because the opening iris note is top notch. For the price though, it would be a great buy. Smells casual but classy at the same time. I'm still undecided as to whether I need it or not though.

In my opinion, I would say it's a toned down version of some Dior Homme (I would say close to the Intense, as it still has that sort of lipstick-y smell, but not as pronounced, being a bit more airy). The sillage is nothing to write home about, but I was very surprised about the longevity. Even though it became a skin scent, it was still there after 11 hours. And in the drydown, I think it lost its lipstick-y smell, and sort of got the smell of sweetness from Baccarat Rouge. Personally, for 30$, it could be an alternative to Dior Homme Intense, but other people may need to overspray, as I've heard from other people that the fragrance did not last long on their skin.

I love the smell... but. It has nice dark powdery iris vibe - reminds me of a less complex, less sweet-floral DHI, which I also wear. But it just doesn’t last... and I have tried the same thing all week. 4 blasts on my skin and 3 blast on my shirt... I get to work at 7am but by 1pm you cannot smell it on my skin and I can barely smell it on my shirt... by 2pm it’s like I never put any on. I really enjoy the fragrance and at £26 I’m going to be using it as an evening after a shower at home scent. Will I buy again? Yes - because I like it while it lasts.

Many people like Iris, particularly those that love Dior Homme line. The makeup/lipstick smell is something I don’t like at all. However, Imperial Purple has the best of two worlds due to the softness. Iris and Leather. The Iris is there but wearable. The suede/leather is present but not dominant. It lingers on skin, and project lightly for the first hour. Longevity, I got 7-8 hours on skin. Tested it indoors. I found that I don’t like beast mode fragrances. This delicate, soft fragrance is perfect for what I want a fragrance to be.

Very nice and strong opening, but it shrinks close to the skin within 1 hour, and after 3 you have to re-apply. Can't tell much in terms of comparison or notes, I'm new at this, love reading your wordy stories. It is citrusy-sweet, but not too sweet, in the dry-down. Definitely some vanilla. Overall, a decent fragrance, worth the price (~$18 / 100ml). Mine has a batch code 31160. Update: longevity improved to 5-6h on skin. Also, it is really similar to Dior Homme Intense, but greener/fresher. Have not sampled Dior Homme Parfum yet.

Positive YouTube reviews > testing on a skin > full bottle. I have been wearing this for a few weeks now and I find it really enjoyable. Vibes: waxy iris and citrus. Like a buttery feel around your skin. It doesn’t pull away in citrus, wood or iris direction. On a spring day I loved it, on a warmer day I found it a bit too dense with that waxy feeling. A good performer, and while I enjoy it, I might offload it as I prefer other options more. I’ll also add that it’s the best Zara fragrance I tried.

Well, well, well. Bought this on sale for 12quid and wow I am so pleasantly suprised. I smell floral, powdery leather. And it projects like a beast. People at work have been asking who is making corridors smell beautiful only to follow the scent and see it’s me, again. Well I sprayed this on at 7am it’s 1:45pm now and it’s still projecting like a total beast and the smell is still the same. I’m gonna buy more from this range whilst it’s on at half price. P.s. yup, totally unisex.

This is how I imagine Hermes would enter the designer masculine iris category, albeit with lesser quality materials. It's airy and transparent in a chic way (this isn't weak, but light), while keeping the character of clean, waxy iris seen in Dior Homme, DHI, Valentino Uomo, and Prada L'Homme. It doesn't pack the vanillic punch of DHI and Valentino, but this makes it more versatile. Impressive fragrance from Zara.

The opening to me smells a lot like Valentino Uomo Intense, but in the drydown it's somewhat reminiscent of Rocha's Moustache. I can also detect certain hints of some older Zara releases that were based around the same notes. Overall I like it a lot. Probably doesn't perform all that great, but for that price I wouldn't expect anything better. This whole lineup from Zara is a pleasant surprise.

Extremely pleased scent. Suede, violets and vanilla. This is classy; it doesn't overdo anything. It's not sickening sweet, not overly gourmand and not makeup-y. Believe it or not, I prefer this over Dior PHP and Valentino Uomo. I just wish it performed better; but for £25 this is a GREAT scent. Unisex imo.

I like it, but only wore twice, but I own Dior Homme Intense and Dior Homme Parfum. Mine has the cap as shown on the photo. I bought it right when it came out. If someone wants to buy or swap it, let me know.

The opening reminds me of Dior Homme intense, but the middle is more spicy, floral with that strong lipstick type of vibe. To me this is closer to the original Zara 9.0. For the price it is really a bargain.

I really like this one though I got the batch that has a crappy cap and sprayer. To me, this is very similar to Bath & Body Works Kaleidoscope. Great in winter time.

Just tried Imperial Purple at the store and yes it’s definitely in the same irisy Dior homme/ Valentino uomo intense genre but a bit more soapy and vegetal take. There’s something green and herbal about this and you get hit by the iris left and right throughout the fragrance, nothing new or exciting about it. Generally reminds me more of Valentino Uomo intense than DHI. Lacks the smoothness of DHI and darkness of Uomo intense. Longevity and sillage is nothing to write home about but If you like fragrances with similar dna you’d enjoy this and I think its worth the price. Do I like it? Not really but I like the bottle and appreciate the fact they put name of the perfumer on the bottle Scent: 5 Performance: 6 Bottle: 9 Price: 10

I picked up an almost full bottle on vinted. Turned out to be batch 31630 with the smooth cap. I have no reference to the older batches but I can say for sure that it is missing a lot of depth and darkness compared to Dior Homme Intense. I love masculine floral scents so I am not too disappointed but now hearing about the earlier batches I am curious to look for them on the second hand market. Update: I gave a decant to my friend and she loves it, she usually wears dark sweet fragrances so it was a spot on recommendation. I still want to explore Iris more but the praline note in this is a bit too sweet/gourmand for me. I much prefer the leather note in DHP so I think I will try Gary's Den as my next Iris fragrance.

Why is Zara doing this to us?! Despite our desire for original perfumes, Zara continues to rehash old popular cult fragrances and present them to us. And now they even attribute them to perfumers! Speaking of the perfume, It starts with a waxy iris reminiscent of Dior, then transitions to a fresher iris. The dry down is pleasant, but it lacks the refinement and complexity of higher-quality fragrances like Valentino Intense. Nonetheless, it offers a clean and light alternative. Surprisingly, it performs better than expected with compliments and long-lasting scent. A great deal for the price. Not recommended for blind buying though!

This very much reminds me of Gris Charnel (the 2019 version). They both feature a sweet-powdery scent from the iris and sandalwood. This one is drier and sharper, and fades to something dirtier. However, both are slightly nauseating to me– it's just an issue I have with powdery sandalwoods sometimes. I can't say I smelled cereals or leather at any point, sadly. Solid meh for me.

I'll second @Digam below. This is very close to Armaf Futura La Homme, but weaker. The iris is nice but is quickly replaced by the leather. It is a distant cousin to Dior, but in no way resembles anything by Prada, Valentino, Givenchy, etc. It's a pleasant scent but I like the Armaf a bit more.

What a let down. The opening reminds me of Dior Homme 2011 BUT a few minutes later it turns to an absolute chemical mess, something really usual for the Zara perfumes. Got really sad because this one had a lot of potential. This has nothing to do with the Dior Homme / Valentino Uomo line, it is just the opening that it is close to all these but when it dries down this feels cheap and tasteless. Not a safe blind buy, try it before you buy it.

STAY AWAY FROM THE BOTTLE OF IMPERIAL PURPLE IN SALES! The bottle in sales comes with a different cap, a crappy atomiser and a new REFORMULATED juice. The fragrance is extremely different from before, they completely removed the iris note, no more resemblance to the Dior Homme or Valentino line. The new juice is basically a stinky leather note mixed with saffron, in the same vein of African Leather by Memo but made 10 times worse, it's really bad. 3 months ago i bought the original formulation , BATCH: 30240, and it's amazing! Now in sales i bought 3 different backup bottles with these batch codes: 31620 - 31630 - 31621 and i immediatly made the return to Zara, because, as i said before, they are completely different from the original formulation. If you see those batch codes that start with the number 31, don't buy them!! Shame on you Zara for doing this. The other fragrances of this line (Majestic Green, Regal White and Magnificent Black) are fine, the juice is the same, just different cap and atomizer.

Tried the whole line today and I'm here with the first impressions. The whole line has great bottles that feel solid and have a very good sprayer, the best sprayer I have seen from Zara. It sprays evenly and makes a good mist. Way above what Zara usually puts on their fragrances. Let's get this out of the way - this one doesn't smell like Dior Homme nor like Dior Parfum to me. At all. I have a suspicion that people just see iris and leather in the note breakdown and automatically vote for similarity with Dior Homme Parfum even if they haven't smelled the fragrance. So how does it actually smell? Call me crazy but to me this one is a clone of Gucci Guilty pour Homme / Zara Silver. I get the same lemon sweetened by lavender in both. I don't get any cereals or iris or leather. I can't say much more about it, do try it for yourself and maybe I am the one in the wrong here and everyone else is right. But I smell Zara Silver here.

I too got the batch with the crap atomizer and smooth cap - actually ordered around 4 fragrances at the time and only one came with the pictured cap - but mine is fine? Zara has always been hit or miss, even with the same line or very same fragrances - but I believe I got this when it was on sale for < $20? So my expectations were tempered, as they normally are with Zara. It smells like a typical Zara take on the Dior Homme’ish fragrances that they’ve done so many times before, and possibly they’re “safe take” on Dior Homme Parfum, with all of the notes that could be divisive nestled in the background. The one thing I will say about every single Zara order I’ve ever placed with 3+ bottles - one has always leaked. Honestly it’s not a complete Zara order if one of the bottles hasn’t lost its juice in transit!

@perfuminator you are the guy that is spreading false information. I had the original formulation (BATCH 30240) bought 1 month after release and it was actually amazing. In summer i bought 3 different bottle in sales (batches are on my review below) and the smell was COMPLETELY DIFFERENT, compared them side by side with my first batch, nothing in common. Zara actually accepted my returns of the 3 bottle because they verified themselves that the juice was DIFFERENT! So, who is spreading false information, you or me? I actually never had this issue with Zara fragrances, that was the first time and I have no reason to say bad things about them, I have a lot of their fragrances. Next time, check all the batches and than you can talk :)

This is perfect for all women that just can’t let go the Memory of Shalimar Parfum Initial. At least this is the closest dupe/dusty Lipstick scent that i could find, being plain almost all the time. For ecample, Zara 9.0 starts promising, reasembling notes of Dior Homme, but turns into masculine scent very soon. This one does not Grow or change on you (which is perfect case here). It stays the same Lipstick scent almost Full time after applying. However, it’s not perfect. it’s weak and should be applied heavily if you want some decent longevity. Still, I’ve been looking for sth like this for Years, and nothing came closer to Shalimar Parfum Initial but this one. Having this in mind, the price perfect despite Poor performance

[Imperial Purple] ⚫️⚫️⚫️⚪️⚪️ Loving the perfumer credit on the label. Keep it up Zara. Imperial Purple is simply, a unisex Iris with a lot of woody amber support and minimal sweetness (thank God). The opening is full of carrot seed and powders but stick around for most of the perfumes lifespan. Vertofix, Trimofix and ISO E Super are here in spades, lending to this ethereal, non-specific woody leather tone. Might be a little IBQ right at the end too. This will either become a cult classic, or yet another Zara release suffocated by their own tendency to release a perfume every other day. Any likeness to Dior Homme Parfum would be incredibly generous, but with an open mind, isn’t too unthinkable.
