Leather Jardin

Damn this fragrance really fueled my already existing love for vintage fragrances! I've always been intrigued by this fragrance, despite never having smelled it before. After falling in love with the earthy facets of Magie Noire (the new formulation), I had to snatch a bottle as soon I got the notification that it’s back on stock lol The opening is projecting quite loudly yet it’s sheer with a nondescript citrusy quality that's a bit airy and floral. As the scent unfolds, the floral notes begin to blossom, and I'm reminded of TF Grey Vetiver Parfum - not a personal favorite of mine, but the 'dirty' and 'ashy' undertones from the base whispers and complement the florals beautifully. The drydown is where the magic happens, with a lush, ashy green accord that is present from the beginning to end takes the center stage while the florals and citrus notes cheer in the background to create a paradoxical dirty/clean mysterious aura. While it shares some similarities with Magie Noire, this fragrance feels more minimal while still being complex, like a modern take on the classic floral chypre style. Yea you have to dress it up but I still managed to get compliments at uni with casual clothes so It’s true, chypres are always in style! Oh also... It has a great performance with a good projection and I can smell the drydown on my clothes after washing them

It's a very nice classic green chypre scent. I think it's the most similar to Magie Noire with some Bernard Chant's creations echo. However, after reading the reviews I thought it will be stronger. On my skin the projection is decent during the first hour then it becomes rather a skin scent on me. I don't know if the newest release is weaker or my skin/nose reacts this way and I almost don't smell it after an hour. Edit 1: my skin eats the scent but on my hair and clothes it lasts longer and projects. I guess people who write it's too bitter or too leathery they've never smelled any vintage chypre perfume. And if somebody says it smells like an ashtray they should try Cabochard to understand the ashtray scent :-) This has got some Cabochard vibes but definitely without the real ashtray... I don't smell so much rose but rather more herbal and leathery notes - I would wear it whole year round - maybe except extreme cold or hot temperatures. I'm going from like to love... and somehow it lasts longer on my skin now, but no longer than 4 hours. On clothes I can still smell it two days later. Edit 2: I've bought a backup bottle as I use it quite often and I'm afraid Zara will discontinue it. This is a very comforting everyday scent for me.

Such wonderful artwork from Jo Malone for vintage perfume lovers . With second and third releases packaging and bottles have esthetically improved great deal, Japanese buildings resembling bottle design with magnetic cap , complete niche feeling to them. As scent wise , with only three notes such complex and ever evolving, long lasting strong scent from the first spray ( though my olfactory senses can definitely detect more than grapefruit, rose and leather ) This is quite scenic scent that will bring the wearer to an old local Jazz club from 70's , a band at dim stage, a lady with beautiful deep voice singing a Billie Holiday song , a local black cat is wondering around the tables , heavy smoke of cigarette and cigar is present in the air. If you are into ashy, animalic ,vintage masculine leaning scents , grab a bottle. I've managed to get one of the second release with orange box after long chase , so the scent is matured enough and must say it's very powerful scent .

Wonderful! It definitely lives up to its reputation of being a very classic, vintage kind of fragrance. I grew up in the nineties and it does flash me back to how my aunt and uncle used to smell. I see some people who compare it to Paloma Picasso, which I can agree with as well. That’s been one of my mother’s favorites forever, so that might be where the memory comes from as well. Very classy, stylish and also kind of mysterious. It reminded me of Rose de Russie by Tom Ford also, because of the fact that it’s a rose/leather combo. It also kind of shares that prickly opening in my opinion. The package of my version of this fragrance lists notes of orange, leather and rose, which kind of made me sigh in relief because I don’t like grapefruit as a note - I’m looking at you, Zara’s Ebony Wood :-(. I don’t really smell the orange, though, but I’m just happy not to smell the grapefruit.

A-MA-ZING! This is strooooong stuff! I have never worn more than one single pray of Leather Jardin at a time, and that has been enough. I have even been asked what I was wearing and been complimented for my perfume while wearing it. I left a review also under the first listing of this perfume (gold gap, rectangular bottle), and still think the same. This is a perfume for bold bitches, in the best way possible. As for myself, I spray only one single spray on my bra and chest, under my clothes, and wear some other perfume on my neck and wrists. This way I get warm, discreet whiffs of this incredible potion now and then, and it gives me this really sexy and sophisticated feel. I hope my bottle will last for a long time, but I do consider buying a back up.

Are green chypres finally back in style? I did not expect Zara to release something of this ilk, and certainly not of this quality. "Surprising" is an understatement, how is this even real? Green, dry, herbal, medicinal, leathery and piercing, not too powdery, not too animalic, modern, unpretentious and strikingly beautiful. Just the way I like my chypres. The guy who has mentioned that this smells like jalapeños is definitely onto something, I get that as well, but this is a similar case to Santal 33 where it could remind you of something a bit off putting (in Le Labo's case that would be pickles) but it's just different enough to work for some bizzare reason. In any case, this scent is fantastic, the price is just icing on the cake.

Thick, beatiful, strong and with a good body. Didn't even expect something of that kind from Zara, but the fact of signora Malone working on that one has encouraged me to smell it. The verdict - a lot of the people I've given it to smell tell me about a grandpa vibe, and while I do think so as well, it is not the grumpy old man. It's more of a elegant old gentleman going for a walk and getting a coffee at his fav place. Floreal but dark, leather isn't projecting much but gives a lot of body to it. Inditex (company that owns Zara) has earned their buck from me this time.

You know, wearing the same perfume all the time during the winter season can be tiring. I think this is the kind of perfume you can wear all season without getting tired of it. For example, there were days when I smelled like roses, and days when the leather was more prominent. Some people even said I smelled like barbecue. In short, I really loved this scent. Its longevity is very good, and its sillage is above average. Taking the price-performance ratio into account, I rate it as follows: Scent: 9/10 Longevity: 9/10 Sillage: 8/10

I absolutely love this scent. It is completely unique. Three sprays on the sternal area clothing and I can smell it all day. No one finds it cloying or annoying. Perfect any season or setting, though I think "fresher" fragrances are safer for the office. If you want unique and reasonably priced look no further. Leans more masculine, however. It is a go-to fragrance and has none of the harsh notes that most leather fragrances do. Thank you, Jo; I wish you had never sold to E-L.

This is the second Zara fragrance I liked. The first being Vibrant Oud which was perhaps a clone of Aventus. I tried it because of Jo Malone and trust me it does not disappoint. Its strong, smooth, a little different type of leather and very long lasting. It is definitely worth much more than you pay for. The others in the same collection are also good with Dubai and New York both being very nice.

Alright everyone. I’m just here to say absolutely don’t buy this 🙊 The way it opens so deliciously fresh and tangy, but then transitions into this clean, creamy, musky rose before revealing a delicate mossy and leathery base. Honestly you don’t need this. Just like, I don’t know... buy something far more expensive 😬 It’s blooming gorgeous!

I read the reviews and decided to buy this perfume blindly. Well, at first I didn't like it - it hit me with detergents smell and irritated me. I let it mature and I'm very happy with how it sits on me. A very atypical fragrance. I really like it. It's really one of the most interesting perfumes I've had so far.

Dry, bitter and soapy (especially on fabric) powerful vintage leather fragrance. Apart from all Zara collection with regard to scent profile. Quality stuff. If you like vintage leathery perfumes, you should definitely check this one. Powerful but not cloying by the way.

Beautifully crisp, powdery scent that strongly resembles Chanel No 19 on me. I can see both women and men wearing this, but being a woman who loves feminine fragrances, I absolutely love this on my skin. Surprisingly long wearing and complex for its price range.

this is a classic clean scent, very beautifully crafted with minimal notes. It opens very floral with the rose and to my nose it smells almost white floral, it dries down to a lovely soft leather that lasts a long time on my skin.

I approached Leather Jardin with some skepticism. "Leather" and "Garden" felt like conflicting promises: on one hand, the raw, sometimes rugged strength of hide; on the other, floral softness. Instead, Zara has crafted something surprisingly coherent and pleasingly minimalist. The opening is a bright, unsweetened crisp grapefruit. It's not a bursting citrus juice, but more like the fresh sensation of brushing past a citrus tree.Very green. It lasts just a few minutes, enough to set the stage. And here comes the surprise. The leather doesn't wait for the drydown; it appears quite early, and it's not the leather of an old saddlery or a wet trench coat. It's the scent of a brand-new designer armchair in a concrete-floored loft. It's clean, almost sanitized, wrapped in a soft, slightly sweet aura (likely thanks to molecules like Suederal) that makes it instantly wearable. The rose? Didn't find in the heart. It's an abstraction. It's not a lush, overflowing bush, but a single, precisely pruned rose shrub in the corner of that modern patio. It adds a touch of pale color, a floral freshness that softens the edges of the leather without ever taking over. The atmosphere it creates is precise, and that is its greatest strength: Picture an urban garden. Clear afternoon light, geometric lines, fresh air, and a sense of Scandinavian-like order. Everything is in its place. There is no animalic warmth, no damp forest soil, no opulence of intoxicating blooms. It's an idea of contemporary luxury: controlled, clean, slightly detached. Performance: Like many Zara fragrances, longevity is average (4-6 hours on my skin) with discreet projection, settling close to a skin scent after the first hour. For the price, it's more than acceptable. Perfect for the office or when you don’t want to be overpowering. A nice addition to my collection. Well done, Jo :)

Anyone who survived the 70s/80s will recall that earth tones were ubiquitous. Remember the creamy yellow appliances and burnt sienna accents? Leather Jardin calls back to those grounding shades with sweet leather, wild rose, and herbaceous hints reminiscent of Molyneux's Captain EDT from 1970s. Leather Jardin gradually evolves - glacially even - and is not a swift roller coaster journey. The garden takes hours to become proximal once the leather finally subsides enough that the florals can be appreciated. I like it most after at least half a day. If you can get away with wearing it more than 24 hours, Leather Jardin will reveal itself as an 'eternal' that will continue to develop complexities and surface more rewarding floral attributes. The flowers are really an easter egg here, hidden away, a secret garden, only to be fully revealed to those who are patient. Leather Jardin is a well crafted and extremely potent and sexy sexy sexy homage to an era, longevity is truly amazing, and the price is 'ok' at full retail. Zara did not skimp on the cap - it is magnetic - which I greatly appreciate. An incredible value if it can be found on sale at or below $25 USD.

This is objectively well made and interesting, and especially from Zara it's quite unexpected (and imo from Jo Malone too). Despite that subjectively I'm not a fan. I really enjoy Cabochard (and to some degree Aramis too), and one of the reasons why is that it's somewhat aggressive in some aspects, bitter and green and with a strong somewhat dirty leather note, but at the same time floral and slightly powdery, which makes the leather really smooth and slightly creamy at the same time. Leather Jardin does not have this explicit kind of IBQ leather, which makes it cleaner, but as a result it doesn't have the smooth body of Cabochard either. It modernizes the bitter green and punchy aspect in an interesting way that works, but it's almost a bit oniony sharp and lacks the calm and smooth drydown. It's quite strong and long lasting especially for a Zara perfume, which is great, but at the end of the day I've had enough, it became tiring.

Great scent for its class. This really is one of those rare ZARA gems that almost comes off as unintentional, knowing their usual quality. Opens up with this punchy sour grapefruit, that in no way reminds me of "sweet citrus" juice, but rather the fresh green, acidic, earthy feel that the peel of the grapefruit gives when you tear it apart with your fingers to access the fruit inside. After the tartness of the grapefruit in the opening calms down, it gives space to the flowery, almost herbal qualities of the mid notes. The leather base is not a swede-like soft leather, nor is the darker, animalic variety - it comes off as the leather of a rugged utility belt would - raw and rustic. Overall, one of the best juices ZARA have ever produced. Is it a clone? Maybe that was the task, but its not the end result.

This puzzled me a lot. To begin with I found it very linear citrus-flower-honey with a clear vintage and mature profile. It seemed too simple and I couldn’t find the leather. I was dissapointed honestly. A couple of months later I am surprised because now I get the flowery garden after the initial dissapointment. Dont know what has happend. It has clearly opened up to a beautiful and elegant scent. The leather still hides itself but doesn’t matter. I love it! So what happened? My theory is the after some use there is more oxygen inside the bottle and that might have reacted with the perfume Oils. I deliberately shook the bottle to release Air bubbles into the bottle content as an experiment. That might have helped 🤩 It is quite unisex and long lasting with a retro vibe and slightly masculine leaning.

It's true! Will immediately remind you of Cabochard. The EDT of EDP of Cabochard. But, also true, Leather Jardin isn't quite as austere. It's modern and there are different vibes offered to the nose. Now, Cabochard now has been reformulated and the current one is better than the 2020s one. But Cabochard has poor longevity. Also, Cabochard is frequently on sale for 10 bucks the 100ml, which is high value. Leather Jardin is quite pricy for a Zara, unless you find it on sale. Which I did, and tested, and enjoyed, and bought another bottle as a gift.

This fragance was a complete surprise... I went to Zara to look for another fragance and decided to try Leather Jardin instead. I had smelled it before but I had disliked what I thought was a overwhelming note of Patchouli at the time. Maybe the warmer weather allows for the citrus note to shine more prominently as I now find it very beautiful and addictive. This has definitely a fantastic vintage vibe... It smells like a cross between Miss Dior (the vintage version) and Magie Noire to me.

If things like Bandit (Robert Piguet), and Cabochard are too in-your-face but you like the idea of them, give this an honest try. It punches above its weight class and is very well put together, especially considering what it cost.

I don't know why exactly, but I love spraying this inside my crocodile leather cowboy boots. Guess this is my go-to fancy footwear fragrance now.

Not for me, really old-school chypre territory, around Flannel, maybe Chanel No.19 — so incense, suffocation, though there’s an attempt to soften it with sweetness, probably grapefruit, and something creamy. I tried the transparent bottle version similar to this one. It didn’t even come close to Aramis.

Powerful, very strong sillage with a fantastic dry citrusy opening. The citrus doesn't push forward, it's very green and pleasant. Unfortunately it quickly dries down into this boring rose-heavy leather scent. I love leather, but here I can only smell the damn rose. It is definitely a guy's scent, not feminine at all, but you gotta absolutely love rose! I hate that note, if it is noticeable. Here it's very detectable, it stands out like a clown at a funeral, it's just not for me. I wish the opening would persist linearly all the way, because that is what fooled me into buying it.

This was a blind buy for me. The first time I have bought a Zara fragrance. For £29 I thought it's worth a stab! As many reviewers here point out, it does resemble a vintage scent, but I don't think that should put you off. To some extent it reminds me of one of my Dad's fragrances he would wear in the 1980s. The top notes are powerful and citrusy, reminding me of Eau Sauvage, but I would stop the comparisons there. Interestingly, orange is listed as one of the notes on the box, though I don't detect it personally. As the top notes fade, the rose becomes much more prominent, and it is lovely, IMO. It's not a sickly jammy rose like many fragrances. Personally, I love it at this point of wearing, but I can see why others may not. It does have a powdery and soapy quality (is that even possible at the same time?). Despite leather being the main feature in the marketing and the reviews I have read, I think this aspect of the fragrance is not that heavy. Perhaps that is because I have become desensitised by some of the extremely heavy leather fragrances that are on the market now. It's light enough to make this scent suitable for all occasions. On the first wear, this fragrance felt very strong, but after a few wears I don't feel it is too imposing. It projects strongly at first, which could be imposing, but fades off to more sociable levels! I don't think that's a bad thing. At this price point, I think Leather Jardin is a great fragrance worth trying. As a blind buy, I'm very satisfied. Edit: dusted this off as the weather is getting better. I cannot get enough of it.

Perfume marketers should just stop listing notes if they are going to do like this...Where's the patchouli? Musks? Vetiver? Violet? The smoke/ash note? Aromatic herbs? Clove? Oakmoss?...Check any perfume dating pre-2010, you'll see all the notes listed, as a representation of the ingredient(s) used, and you could actually make up something in your mind how they would have been formulated. With this 3 notes trend it has become nonsense (not to say notes mean too much but they meant at least something before). Anyway, to the scent, as mentioned many times this is a classic chypre-floral structure, a classic, fresh opening which I can only agree with Eau de Soir comparisons, maybe even Aramis, but later on evolves into a softer floral chypre, which reminds me of Gris Dior (rose x violet x patchouli x Hedione) with shades of Grey Vetiver (violet x vetiver). Dry down is completely different than the opening, a big transition. Need to mention that I completely get what Invasionbg mentioned below, there's a clear smoked cigarette/ash vibe going on in the drydown, so much so that this fragrance can make other people think you are a smoker.

This is 100% a late '70s early '80s scent, but feels more modern and not lipsticky. It's a dry, very heavy *Bitter* leather floral. I wouldn't be surprised if the original canvas was Chanel no 19, diversified to a point where they kept some 40% of the original blueprint. It feels like a fragrance a chic office person would wear in 1979, or a young singer in 1981. Smells more neroli than grapefruit to me, super strong, 2 sprays is all you need, really lush, not for everyone. Edit: did 3 sprays in warm weather and chafed my windpipe, definitely for cold weather.

Heard this was similar to Habit Rouge so I tracked it down at Zara to try. I quite like it! I do get the HR vibe and also reminds me of Zino Davidoff but more wearable/less vintage. 5+ hours in now and I can still smell it fairly strongly so for a cheapie I'd say it lasts pretty well. EDIT: Sampled it again next to HR EDT. VERY similar, less fresh and bright, but definitely lasts longer. Wouldn't expect many compliments from the general population. It's pretty specifically vintage.

An amazing and unexpected offering from Zara. The opening is challenging - a bit of a mossy slap in the face - but once you are through this it's the closest to an affordable modern day Cabochard/Aramis I can find. Not a safe blind buy at all. But a lovely rose/leather perfume that smells wonderfully out of time - in the best way possible. I'd had my eye out for a while after it disappeared but was delighted to get it in their summer 26 sale.

I dont understand people who voted this perfume as a winter scent this is hands down summer to the dot Its so fresh and lively and the leather is obviously there but its in a fresh way which feels very intriguing I feel like im back in the 70’s when i smell it even tho i was born in 2006;) To sum it up its a long lasting projecting perfume with exceptional performance for the price feels like luxury

Here is a tip: mix this with Zara's Vibrant Leather Warm.... You'll thank me , I’m sure as it creates this wonderful sweet / warm scent that makes me think of a high end one but can’t find it at the moment in my scent memory. Anyone , if you tried it , maybe you’ll find the one I mean .

Well it was a good decision to relaunch it in a prettier bottle. This fragrance worth it. It was one of the most outstanding and brave juice in Zara's palette. I already bought a backup of the last 75ml bottle but I'm much more relaxed to see they keep it accessible. Great news!

I really wanted to like this one but unfortunately smells like jalapeno pickles to me :( or something like pickled savory lemons. My mom said it smelt like "biber dolmasi" which is stuffed green pepper dish from Turkey :))

It's the same. They discontinued the older bottles and put it in their new "private line" ones. Price went from £25 to £35, but size also went up from 75ml to 100ml. Before that it also went from 100ml to 75ml lol. Zara!!

Leather and roses, the drydown is just rose to my nose. I like it a lot! A couple of sprays last the whole day and it projects enough. I wouldn't recommend it during hot days since I feel like it might get cloying.

Very retro/vintage smelling fragrance. Smells like a 80's powerhouse fragrance. It has a smoky, ashy nuances that come across unpleasant to me.

This was just a no for me. A forced fragrance opposite of Jo Malone and Zara collaborations where the notes usually come together organically
