Lilas Japonica (Into The Floral)

This one is very underrated Zara scent, sadly discontinued. But it smells more complex than a three notes perfume. It's very fresh, clean , calming, slightly sweet , floral with woody undertones. Pear is very subtle but it's still recognisable, lilac is very prominent but it smells like it's in coherent with other spring florals and it definitely transforms into more floral ,spicy woody after few hours. Luckily I bought few bottles and been using it winter spring and summer. It's has great longevity on both skin and clothes ( lasts for days ). It's a suitable scent for most settings where you don't want your scent to be in your face to others.

I like this a lot! It smells more like a bouquet of white flowers, mixed with a nice soap/shampoo. There is a hint of sandalwood. This really reminds me of a fragrance from Aerin, think it was called Ikat Jasmine. Normally I wear sweet and gourmand fragrances during winter, because I like the way they usually project. Now in an office setting I can’t use them so much anymore so I bought this perfume at Zara and this feels perfect as I go to a office setting.

I wanted something similar to Issey Miyake Drop d’Issey, but the only thing they have in common is the lilac note. Wearing DdI feels like you are in a garden on a sunny spring morning, surrounded by lilac bushes. I close my eyes and I’m there. The lilac in Zara Lilas Japonika is artificial and screechy and the alcohol is a bit too much in the opening. I can’t detect pear and sandalwood. Even though I don’t dislike it. For the price it’s a nice spring time scent, but it is not a dupe for Issey. It doesn’t really make sense but longevity is weak, however sillage is quite good, I get a lot of compliments.

First spray on my skin I can feel lilac but it's very salty, perhaps due to sandalwood qualities. First what it reminds me of is Elizabeth Arden 5th Avenue but there lilac appears in more pleasant way to my nose. Unfortunately I haven't smelled Majestic Lilas so can't tell if it's similar or how it differs. 20 minutes in I think it smells a lot like fabric softener, it has this fresh floral laundry quality to it. I will come back to tell how it develops later. And how long it lasts.

Lilac is very prominent in this one. When I used it rarely I could smell it for hours at least 7hr. Now that I use it more often I definitely smell it just for 3-4hrs. It's a office friendly, smells floral and subtle. I don't get any pear like never I actually bought it just for the pear so u will be disappointed. Since Zara realise the same fragrance with different names I think they will bring it back. Overall it's nothing groundbreaking, but it's a nice spring scent.

Lilac is one of my favourite note, but this was a disappointment. It's not a bas scent, its fresh, somehow sour-fruity at the opening, I guess bc of the pear. I don't get pear, I don't get lilac, absolutely no sandalwood, just some fruity-floral, which is very aquatic and not sweet.

I was hoping to get more lilac, but I detect wood more than I like and ever-lightly aquatic. It’s almost like Iris than lilac? Not my preference, but it is a competently formulated perfume. That said, I think the nicest lilac soliflore perfume I have smelled is Aerin’s Lilac Path.

Wondering how similar this will be to Majestic lilas from this summer? Only difference in the note profile is the pear. Not a bad thing necessarily. I like pear and ML is lovely, but that fruity edge might lean more depth in to it? I'll be interested to hear other people's thoughts until I can get a sample of this. As a lilac junkie I just can't stay away 🤣
