Majestic Lilas

oh myyyy, what a pleasant surprise! This is a ridiculously beautiful watery floral. It does lean feminine but it's a ~~*moody*~~ feminine, not a "part time victorias secret angel boss babe" feminine. I've got another "one note = lilac!" fragrance in my collection, it's Pacifica's French Lilac. This one is a very, very different interpretation, it's more complex and beckoning. French Lilac falls flat in the sense that it's a syrupy flat mess; whereas you get different complimentary notes in Majestic Lilas, even though the pyramid here does not suggest so. There's a really nice earthiness or mineral-ly quality, and also a green leafy note and aquatic, even ozonic overtones. You can almost picture a scene if you close your eyes. The sun's about to set. It's just finished pouring outside and you go out to the garden to inspect the damages, You come up to your lilac to see the lower blossoms all splattered with rich garden soil, still dripping with rainwater. A few leaves and branches were lost and they emanate this green, camphororus element. You cut some of the salvageable blooms and bring them inside to put in an undestated crystal vase with fresh tap water, which bring a little chorine in the mix. Nuanced, moody, poetic, quaint, EVOCATIVE, simple, genius! What a headache it is that stuff like this is released as a limited edition. This could be a staple in the Zara catalogue, they could take out banal entries such as sultry pear and applejuice to make space for it, surely. Worth noting this lasts on me quite decently, while other Zara's don't go past the hour and a half I can very much smell this on me effortlessly for about 4 hours, close by the clothes it stays all day, but it's not quite evident if i dont press up my nose in them. My skin is a frag fiend so that's good enough to me! I can only start to make out the sandalwood past the 8 hour mark, very faint, barely there. I think I can still smell it the day after, fully woody now, but pressing myself aainst the clothes. It was brought to my attention by some work friends (i work at a departamanet store) that it smells similar to the classic Halloween and also Gucci Bamboo edp. While I absolutely see the similarities I would say Majestic lacks the powderiness that Halloween has. I also find Majestic lasted better on me personally. Gucci Bamboo is way less floral, still on the same greeny aquatic vibe, but a little less oomphy. While pleasant, it also reminds me of baby wipes. It's sharper, less rounded. All 3 have that famous "coldness" or "steeliness" provided by certain florals such as lilies, violets, lilacs in perfumery. Zara's is the clear winner for me, though!

I feel this one a bit similar to fresh cut lilacs from bbw. I smell strong lilac at the opening and also water lily. No sandalwood at all. This one is cold but sweet but somehow melancholy. It seems has some grasses dewy morning nuance. I love it for sure. Get a compliment at very first time I used it.

i have no issues with longevity & projection! it’s so strong on me and smells amazing for the price point i’m shocked! i love it & will def repurchase and going to pull the trigger on buying back ups. it’s such an uplifting watery lilac. lovely :)

Majestic Lilas is a floral solinote type of fragrance based on various type of lily and on lilac. It is a simple scent, much floral, green and acquatic, fresh and clean, and with some lilac tinge. It doesn't have evolution, it is a linear fragrance and smells like a solinote/soliflower that could be produced by an old abbey in their monastic fragrance line. This in my eyes is a plus since it is very difficult to find decent solinotes in edp concentration, or even a floral without sweetness and other elements in it at this price. It is pure and a little pungent, this makes me like it a lot. It is a "mature" kind of flower, similar in tone to Noble Wisteria from the same Chapter 5 collection. At first it was a bit confusing, I must admitt...they basically trolled us with the name, creating confusion on what kind of flower is actually here and what color they have. The name Majestic LILAS + the notes was a sort of play of words between the flower lily, the Italian *lilla* (a word for the color light purple) and the proper word lilac (refering to the flowers/blossoms, ending in c). What does it smell like? I, for one, pick up a blend between lily (the white one), waterlily (the white one but acquatic, the nymphaea) and only then lilac (the proper shrub/bush of purple color). Their blend smells white floraly, earthy, aquatic, green (as in both the stem of the flowers and other herbs) and some very light fresh spiciness is present. Only after that I smell a bit of purple lilacs, in their green and spring side only. I suspect something of the lilly of the valley is present too. None of this flowers lend their "sweet" or honeyed or creamy side. They act as early spring blossoms, almost immature. And I guess there is something majestic about them, as if the flowers are crystallized in time in a premature blossom, their essence captured during an after rain moment. They are like frozen in time, in a play between delicacy and resilience, and a sensation of stillness and calmness exudes from them. The mood of the fragrance is somewhat melancholic and refined. Specially about the lilac, there is nothing creamy, powdery, almondy or mimosa like about it, as often lilac based scent are, think of works like Love by Chloe, or A drop d'Issey edp, or Innocent White Lilac by Oriflame, so if it's that aspect you are after then this may disappoint you. We must consider that here there is no almond, heliotrope or other similar notes to help in that regard. Not even sandalwood, as instead stated in the notes. There is much greenery in the mid of the scent after it sits for an hour on the skin, and probably some rain/water/dew accord too, but there is absolutely no woods. Maybe they were inspired by niche perfume like En Passant by Malle, Totally White by Parle Moi de Parfum, or even by A drop d'Issey Essentielle which all truly smell like an after rain-spring day captured in a bottle. Zara tentative reads unfortunately more detergent like and clean, with an air fresheners quality about it, but that said, this is also a tremendously less costly version and I appreciate the tentative alone since this type of fragrance are difficoult to find outside the niche market. Personally I think this shines if layered, like all solinotes fragrances, be them highstreets, niche, apothecary or monastic. It is lovely in combo with Zara Noble Wisteria (similar but centered on another flower) and with Waterlilly Tea Dress. It goes well with Zara Elegantly Tokyo too. The result of the trio is etherial purple flowers and white flowers mixed with herbs and musk, watery and clean, kinda a new way expressing femininity or masculinity, more delicate and different then the usual Zara Chapter style. I love this kind of unisex, sour, almost unruly blossoms! Performance were a bit lacking, lasting for a maximum of 4 hours but only if oversprayed. Sillage is moderate for the first hour and then turns in to intimate. Probably there just isn't enough body with woods or other fixatives for it to last long. Probably that is also why the collection didn't seem to fare that well, being discontinued and on sale after not that much time, unless it was meant to be just a summer offer. This had more the Jo Malone style then the usual Zara Chapter style. If you can find it I belive, as of now in the summer of 2023, it should be on sale and cost for 7,95€, at least on Zara Europe. Edit: I was wrong, it is not discontinued, they actually just added to their catalog the 90 ml version!

This is quite a pretty, fresh and green scent. It reminds me a lot of waterlily tea dress also from Zara created by Jo Malone. To me it’s a little bit earthy, like moss. It’s not anything groundbreaking but it’s fresh and elegant and perfect for the warmer months if you’re not into more fruitier or sweeter scents. The longevity on me personally is around 4 hours. Its projection is moderate. Overall a 6.5/10 for me.

While I do somewhat agree that this isn’t a straight forward lilac scent I still can smell it quite well. I also get some acquatic notes like waterlily even if it’s not listed. The sandalwood is nowhere to be seen though. With that said this is an affordable freshie that I could recommend. I actually mostly wear this on hungover days because it’s cooling in a way.

The smell is good, but there is no saldalwood. I smell lilac, water lilies. Good retention. Great price. Personally, it doesn't remind me of Frederic Malle's En Passant at all.

It's a beautiful perfume, it's simple but has a delicate and cute aroma, I used to use daily and receive a lot of compliments.

This is a skin scent for bedtime , it’s pretty but barely detectable.

I rarely blind buy anything more than a 1.5ml sample these days, but I took the plunge and blind bought this on eBay as it's now sold out in Zara stores here in the UK. My first impression. There is a strong lilac opening upon initial spray. It reminds me slightly of my beloved, lanvin eclat d'arpege. Then this very quickly dries down in to a pleasant but generic green shampoo scent. Very unisex. Pleasant. But not a lilac bomb either. I've tried a lot of lilac fragrances now and I think I'm about to stop this relentless hunt for the perfect lilac. It was here all along in d'arpege. That said, I like this, and it will be fine for work in the spring on days I don't want to think much about what to spray. An easy reach. 3.5/5

This is a softly sweet and powdery lilac fragrance. It's one of those romantic scents that brings to mind Jane Austen's books and the act of opening an antique dresser drawer. It shares vibes with fragrances like Trussardi My Name. It has a moderate sillage and a duration of about 4-5 hours. I find it a perfect perfume for spring, especially on cloudy days due to its somewhat melancholic scent. I really like to have it in my collection and I am going to enjoy it a lot, although I have similar options with better performance and I would not buy it again. I don’t smell any lilac. It’s nice and inoffensive but not lilac to my nose. French Lilac by Pacifica is much more realistic. A Drop d’Issey is more powdery with an almond accord but also more realistic. Longevity is not great at all but most Zara fragrances don’t last on me.

Honestly, I've never known what lilac scents are like. But what I've noticed here is a more woody scent that's similar to bamboo. I have Elizabeth Arden Green Tea Bamboo and it smells similar to Zara Majestic Lilac, only Zara is more floral and bright.

There is no lilac smell at all, very 80's, reminds me of Gabriella Sabatini, more on a sweet side rather than fresh, or floral. If you like lilac, as much as me, you may be disappointed if floral is what you're looking for.

Whoever said it brings up Lady Milion to mind, I get this. Strangely. Like a soapy version of LM. There is something alike, but not too much.
