Memorable Oud

A Curse During A Prayer Don’t be afraid or hesitating. There is nothing blasphemous in this perfume. I chose to put this title because while smelling the four perfumes created by Alberto Morillas, this one stands out from the others just like a blasphemy in the middle of a prayer. It stands out. You can’t leave it abandoned in a corner. Memorable means likely to remember or worth remembering. Apt adjective. Memorable Oud is the most leathery and woody of the four, perhaps the most performing, and is remembered. The key accords are those of woods, spices, raw leathers, and dark oud. Already at the first puff, the similarity with Santal 33 EAU DE PARFUM is perceived, because of the massive dosage of sandalwood and cypriol, not creamy yet woodsy, which we find here loaded with leathery notes and soiled with slightly medicinal oud, but always under control and never annoying. I deliberately wrote similarity, and no copy or clone, since there is an assonance between the two fragrances; however, Memorable Oud is a fragrance in its own right that recalls the highlights of Santal 33. Besides, the more I wear it the more I forget about Santal 33. Memorable Oud opens up leathery like a handmade leather bag or a pair of shoes that have just been dyed. You find yourself faced with a punch in the face full of tanning and dyeing solvent like when you visit a workshop or an artisan leather shop. If you’ve been visiting Italy and passed through Tuscany, you know exactly what I’m referring to. ZARA does not mention the leathery accord either on the official website or on the back of the box, where there is a semi-pyramid with many notes, yet Memorable Oud is the leatheriest of the four perfumes. It’s not leathery soft like Nappa leather or suede, but something deep and thick like the tar extracted from birch bark, isoquinoline. Just wait a few minutes and a mineral nuance of stones and pebbles, creeps between the folds of the leather. Immersed in this triumph of woods and leathers, a sour nuance of citrus fruits, and bergamot, but not only, emerges, the lemon is present and noticeable. In the background, there is a balsamic existence, a little minty, that of cardamom, but it is not as palpable and does not emerge as in Blooming Oud. There is a tiny twist in the heart. Surprisingly, I don’t recognise the white flowers, at least they do not show up clearly. Instead, powdery vibrations coming from the violet leaves announce the entrance of the heart, courtesy of alpha-iso methyl ionone, here more dewy than Blooming Oud with the well-known violet floral reflections with gasoline touches. The more it grows, the more the balmy and leathery faces intensify. A dry and papery shade wraps the heart’s notes, that of cypriol. The leathery, mineral, and papery notes are among my favourites. Yet another turning point takes us straight to the dry-down, which appears dark, full of black clouds, like when the sky suddenly changes and becomes funereal just before an impetuous downpour, deliberately virile and with masculine outbursts. Now the oud wood is very smoky, dirty, animalistic, yet never faecal or barnyard, surrounded and supported by earthy edges of modern patchouli, strong but cleansed, and immense mountains of sandalwood, resinous, dry, almost never creamy, so much so that it recalls the smell of shavings and sawdust when carving. I can see a hint of vanilla, or tonka, drowned among the ingredients of this aphrodisiac, spicy and inedible potion. I could spend hours and hours incessantly smelling this ending, like a litany that repeats itself endlessly. The bottom line, it is in my ropes, a genre that I love to wear on autumn evenings and in early spring when the weather is still fresh and pungent. The moist and cool weather helps to amplify and reveal the darkest and most hidden sides of this concoction. The next day, it is still present in the form of a woody-leather accord. From the strips of paper, I get puffs of his leathery and virile notes. His performances are remarkable, perhaps among the four he is the one who has the best performance, the projection and duration are above average. I'm formulating my thoughts on a bottle I've owned since September 2023 (BC 32130).

Veeery good mix of white flowers, sandalwood and oud. Citruses makes it quite refreshing and suitable for higher temperature - my favourite one out of four, I could't stop sniffing my arm for a whole day. On my skin I'm getting 10h longevity with 4h projection. I can still easily detect it on my jacket after 3 days and a lot of Zara fragrances improve over time (production date is just 3 weeks before I bought it). Only Elevated Oud lasts a bit longer but it is also a creamier, sweeter and heavier scent - my second favourite along with Virtuous Oud. I'm not getting any Santal 33 vibes, not even close. btw. I'm not sure why this line is getting quite a lot of hate - usually from people who only tried it at Zara store and on blotter. For me this one and a white musky one from Olivia Giacobetti has much higher quality than most of Zara's releases and these ones develop quite a lot from opening to drydown.

Just seeing the name Alberto Morillas on the bottle and I knew I had to have it. This time around he’s collaborating with Zara to produce 4 Oud scents and I’m enjoying every single one!! When they are all so good, it’s tough to rank it but I’ll place this ‘Memorable Oud’ at #1 from this collection. I’m actually very surprised this fragrance scored so low here. I absolutely love this spicy fragrance. 1-2 hours after it’s sprayed it will start to smell more and more like ‘Santal 33’ from Le Labo. Just like Santal, this fragrance is an acquired and discerning scent, not for everyone.

TIP: If you don't like the scent layer it with either one of these Zara fragrance : WO/01= A pleasant and unique layering that falls in the "traditional woody" realm. The layered fragrance outcome is better then each individual fragrance itself. WO/03 = Nice and unique "incensey woody" but with some hints of sweetness which makes it a pretty pleasant wearing. Antique Brown = This is a sweet outcome, with a hint of vibes similar to Armani Code Profumo. At least I managed to salvage my Memorable Oud bottle with these layering, rather then chucking it aside 😁

Amazing fragrance! Absolutely love the sandal wood note. I don't know if the performance is good, since you can get nose blind since it's a parfum. I got this on sale for 19.95, and I am not complaining.

If only the sandalwood note wasn't this prominent... I would buy it. But I already have S4ND4LW00D + Mountain Woody Forest and Energetically New York, even though Memorable Oud seems to be the most interesting and pleasant out of the aforementioned. Also leathery! Can smell like a fresh pair of leather shoes to some. EDIT: In the far drydown (8h+) the truly wonderful and niche woody-mineral smell turns into pickles and I keep picking them up from my clothes days after wearing, which turns me off :/ I don't get any of this with other Santal 33 clones mentioned above. Even with Vibrant Leather & Sandalwood Elixir. Evening Safari Drive maaaybe a little bit.

own both of this and K EDP (also coach open road that has similiarity with K EDT) . and i do understand what @czajnik talking about smiliarity of these fragrances. but for me it's only in the ambiance. it does smell different. MO is more woody and cardamomy then K EDP is much more sweet and soapy.

I recently got a sample of K EDP from D&G, and the drydown is identical with this thing. I like it. Not a first love, as the opening is pickles, although lasts long and evolves into something really nice and refreshing

Memorable by name, not particularly memorable by scent. It's yet another variation on Santal 33 - spicy, sandalwoody, lumber store, sawdust. It was cute first time, but enough already.

I have tried some Zara perfumes before. They were ok. Some i liked a lot some dislike. But this one Memorable Oud this is not a perfume. This is something comes out directly from a chemistry lab and they bottled it. Disgusting smell. Full syntetic. I have Virtous Oud aswell its ok. So consider my review as a 2 perfume owner of same series. Sometimes i give away my perfumes that i dont like a lot. Trust me i cant give away this one to anyone i know. I cant do that to anybody. Totally hate this. All the perfumes colognes i have tried till now this one is the worst. Rezalet!

Akin to more spicy amber/leather/cedar/sandalwood X oud blends we know from Oud Malaki, Halfeti, Oud de Carthage, Bvlgari Man in Black/Orient etc. It is not reinventing the genre, of course need to check subtle unique touches that might've gone unnoticed. For the price, first impression is good, it's another territory occupied time and time again by niche brands that Zara now making a low budget attempt. Also a note before it becomes a thing, at no point during the initial testing I thought of Santal 33 or anything close. Update: 2nd testing on paper and first time on skin - due to cypriol and woods you get the woody papyrus effect which might then recall Santal 33 indeed, but I think direct comparison to Santal 33 would be a stretch, only some aspects of it, which can happen easily as cypriol x cardamom x cashmeran with some leather already inevitably gives Santal 33 core. I did get some aromatic notes too similar to Virtuous Oud, and late drydown it smelled closer and closer to Blooming Oud...

starts of similar to elevated oud but with an even stronger oud smell, then the flowers show up quite intensely but the overall experience after an hour is a leathery smell (the sandalwood mixed with the oud and the patchouli i think) which is why i believe people say it smells like santal 33.

somewhat close to santal33, a bit more leather-y and light. absolute compliment getter, u can layer it with dry benzoin vanilla for warmer months. beautiful, true perfection of an airy scent with character. unisex, slightly masculine

Wonderful fragrance! Much more similar to "Matcha 26" than "Santal 33"!
