Nobody Knows (Into The Woods)

The opening is full of cassis, less fruity and more unruly, like shrubs of cassis foliage that have just been cut. A mix of fresh spicy and fruity (no cat's pee nuances). In the middle we have warm spices, such as in Ebony Wood (I think a mix of black pepper, light cloves and cardamom) and a rose that is dusty, essicated and autumnal. The base of ebony is unmistakably here but it is not so warm, organic and musty as in Ebony Wood. The dna of Ebony Wood is here, but it is much subdued. The major difference between the two fragrances is in the dry down. There is infact a coconutty/creamy/woody character given by what I belive to be sandalwood. This is the smell of Zara classic blend of cardamom and sandalwood, which always creates a sort of coconutty and light mentholated sensation. I recognize it very well. The mentholated cardamom is slowly lost, until a woody sweet coconut smell is all that remains on the final dry down (similar in this aspect to the creamy sandalwood of Versace Crystal Noir and BDK Gris Charnel). In comparison Ebony Wood is much more warm and the ebony note in it much more strong, with an "organic" quality about it (in here it is much more dry and thin). In my opinion those are two very distinct fragrances. The dna of Ebony Wood is here and they expanded on it with a different opening and a very different dry down. Only the middle resambles Ebony Wood, but again, in truth, even the nature of the rose, spices and ebony are different...more muted. I consider Ebony Wood superior, more vivid in intensity, "colors" and temperature, but I enjoyed greatly this new fragrance, and layered they are exceptional. You can find my original review below (first to review the fragrance), but I wanted to reiterate on the difference that Nobody Knows has in comparison with Ebony Wood, since there will be a big sale at Zara, and this fragrance will be sold at more then half the original price. Beware this is not the same thing as Ebony Wood, at all (that sweet creamy coconutty/light mentholated dry down is aggressively clingy!!!).

When I first tried this on at Zara, it did remind me of Ebony Wood (I own a bottle). It had the similar dark rich wood DNA, but definitely softer, with the rose note present in the mix. Almost lending just a bit of a soapy touch. Quite enjoyable. About an hour in is when I am starting to smell the tiniest bit black pepper from where I sprayed it on my hand. It also has mellowed a little where the woodiness is quieter and as said below, a bit more dusty. I don't personally pick up much of a metallic note but I can understand where that is coming from. Compared to some of the other fragrances from the same release, Nobody Knows definitely has more sillage. I also sprayed on a little bit of Ebony Wood and could note more differences. Ebony Wood projects a touch more, even though I sprayed less - and is warmer, bit dryer but also smoother somehow, at least to my nose. I don't think getting a bottle of this is necessary if you already have Ebony Wood - unless you find it difficult to wear and would prefer it's gentler, more mellow sister DNA. Or if you really liked Ebony Wood and would like a similar fragrance so you could switch on occasion. If you don't have a similar fragrance already though, this is lovely. Good sillage, price point and decent longevity (especially compared to most of Zara's offerings).

It is an intriguing Eau de Parfum and I really like it for its playful character. On the box creamy white coconut, dense black ebony wood, fizzy blackcurrant, black pepper and rose are mentioned. It belongs to a woody collection. The opening is fizzy and lovely with a dominant blackcurrant note fading into a sweetness from fruity notes more than florals. There is a rose somewhere but it is not a crisp rose note. There I can see a similarity with Byredo Pulp, where the fruity notes are very dominant. The coconut note is more at the base than at the top and it is not strong. The woody notes at the base only add depth. They are not very distinct, for me. They blend in. I feel absolutely no similarity to Ebony Wood. Ebony Wood is woody, not fruity. And more male targeted than female. The lasting power is not great but it is good enough to fully enjoy it. It is an EDP of contrasts, it goes to opposite directions but a new kind of harmony is created. It has a character of its own and I hope, since it is a refillable bottle, Zara will come up with refills.

"Boyfriend: 7.4/10 - Hour or two strong projection, then skin scent. Smells wonderful - I have been stealing this one!" Me: 7/10 - This perfume is really hard to get your head around at first, and the notes are unisex. First impression was dissapointment... but I began appreciating the drydown. It isn't sweet - barely floral, yet the woodiness is somehow magical and uplifting. Dries down into pleasant, tangy fairy woodland. Reminiscent of when I was a child in the Isle Of White staying in a hotel (I guess the nostalgia makes me bias) Love to layer this with perfumes I don't like much as it is complimentary to floral, fruity and winter scents. It doesn't smell like a tomato garden imo, it smells mature yet somehow mystical. Edit: I never reach for this scent profile, its not exciting enough for me, so I sold Nobody Knows and got a damn good price as its now discontinued. I'm happy to experience this perfume and pass it on. Projection 5/10 (First hour or two, its strong, then fades)

It smells like Gris charnel mixed with ebony wood on me. Both are on of my favourite perfumes and it has the best of both. Compared to Gris, it is more smoky and wood heavy, while compared to ebony wood, it would be a lighter and more creamy version of it. When I smelled it first time on my mom, it was just ebony wood with a touch of rose and lighter. Same on paper. I was kinda disappointed and forgot about it, since ebony wood was better to my liking but then gave it a try after a month on my skin and god, is this amazing. I was completely stunned how the opening is just Gris charnel opening, but with more cloves and more peppery. After a while, it was a creamy coconut version of ebony wood that had the character of Gris charnel and at the end it had similar end notes as Gris. I wouldn’t say this is a dupe, it is more of a great option for those who like both ebony wood and Gris charnel

If I could only have one fragrance for the rest of my life, it would be this one. It's just perfect in every aspect. Suitable for every occasion. It's not too heavy for daytime, but not too light for night time. Not too sweet for summer and warm enough for winter. I wouldn't say that it's unisex, but it's not "girly" either. It's just so perfectly balanced and unique. It's woody spicy and creamy. So delicious but not in a gourmand way. The opening is very similar to Ebony Wood, which I also love. But there are a lot of differences in the dry down. Nobody knows is much softer and creamier. When I first tried it I knew I had to get more than just one bottle, so I ended up getting one small one (which I already finished) and two big ones (I'm already halfway through one of them). I really wish they would bring it back, so I can stock it up. They did bring Ebony Wood back so fingers crossed🤞

I found this by chance and fell head over heels. It’s so fresh and green, yet woody and mysterious, sophisticated but wearable. Something so special and affordable, I immediately bought the big bottle! I love wearing this on chillier summer nights and through spring and autumn. It absolutely adore how this settles on my clothes, it’s almost better the next day. The opening is very abrasive in my opinion, but by no means unwelcome. It’s green and spicy from the get go and dries down to warm freshness? It layers very well with other scents. My mother despises it and says it smells like “girl sweat” lmao. I have been asked about this many times and was always met with surprise when I said it was a Zara perfume, that is not a dupe of a niche fragrance. I also think I’m this works for any age! Maybe best 25+. Very special. NOT blind buy safe. Opening 8/10 Dry down 10/10 LOVE IT!!!

This was actually a blind buy for me. I sniffed all through the new scents in the store, unfortunately none of them had an impact on me. They were either forgetable, or just weird for my nose. At this point my friend was like, ‘okay just go ahead and buy this one’ as the name suggests ‘Nobody Knows’, well we clearly did not know, as there wasn’t any sample on the shelves for this one. First impression on paper, nothing special. Then I tried it the other day.. Girl! When I tell you I got compliments, I mean crazy compliments. On the paper it was too fruity for me, but on my skin it is a beutifully silky woody, fresh scent I can smell the black pepper on me soo good! The sillage is crazy, people can smell it on me wherever I go. Definitely one if my fav fall/winter scents now from Zara.

Dear Zara, please keep that perfume in a permanent series. This smells like an expensive perfume with a lot of character, mystery and confidence. Haven't smelled anything similar yet. It is woody, herby, creamy (yep there is coconut in there) and spicy at the same time. I got 2 big bottles for myself, thinking I would wear it in meetings and places I want to show more confident and interesting and my husband started wearing it non/stop, he never wears perfumes but this made a difference. Every day I go like mmmm when he wears it. Long lasting, great sillage, such great blend with the skin, definitely unisex and the more it stays on the shelf, the better it gets. I will 100% cry when if it gets discontinued.

This is wonderful. Despite the notes, I don't get a similarity with Ebony Wood, a dryer, spicy scent. This is fruity without spice. The note of black pepper only gives it a bit of an edge in the opening. Btw, I am normally not a fan of rose scents, except for the ones with a jammier vibe. The rose in Nobody Knows is exactly that wonderful jammy rose, like the fig/rose/currant accord in Le Labo's The Noir 29, or it even reminds me of the rose in Guerlain's LPRN Black Perfecto. The fragrance opens with a green and fruity blast of cassis to settle into this jammy rose and smooth woody notes. This works on its own but is wonderful worn layered, especially with simpler vanilla fragrances.

I got my hands on two fragrances over the past few days, this one (Nobody Knows by Zara) and Toro by Maison Alhambra, and was very surprised how well they layer together. This frag is very similar to Ebony Wood (also Zara) in the opening but then becomes a soothing, coconut/palo santo-like hug. The consensus is this is feminine-leaning but I'm sticking by it being unisex - maybe just me! Paired with the 'TdH-esque' Toro by MA, this becomes a whole new beast. The orange notes of Toro remain over the top as NK dries down. You end up with a luxurious orange-wood-leather concoction I think you can wear all year round. Beautiful, powerful, unisex and safisticated. An absolute winner 🏆

Dusty autumnal rose, ebony and sandal. Spicy opening of dusty black pepper with unsweetened blackcurrent, I like it a lot, it has an unruly element about it. There is little fruitiness and more cassis, but it remains delicate. The rose in it is light, somewhat essicated and dusty, probably because of the pairing with dry and lightly smoked ebony. Surprisingly there is a dry down that strongly reminds of the mix of cardamom and sandalwood, a sort of creamy mentholated sandal. I like it a lot. I am wondering how it will pair with Ebony Wood and Fleur de Patchouli, or with the more unisex Zara from the last collection. But in truth it doesn't smell at all like Ebony Wood.

I blind-bought this because of the comparison to Ebony Wood, which I like but find it just a smidge too masculine-leaning for my taste. I received it yesterday and thought it made a mistake because out of the bottle it smells SUPER green, almost like tomato leaves. However, I find that on my skin, the greenness immediately tones down massively and what's left is a slightly more feminine, creamy version of Ebony Wood, which is lovely. That said, if sprayed on clothes, the green scent sticks around an goes kind of grapefruity, so how you apply it makes a significant difference, at least in my experience. Now off I go to buy a bigger bottle....

I really like this, and I commend Zara for making a perfume that’s a bit different and not necessarily a crowd pleaser. To me it’s a fruity aromatic with a bit of woods. Starts with a really nice tart, juicy, effervescent blackberry opening. It then goes a bit green and creamy. The box mentioned coconut and although it’s not on the notes, I definitely get a coconut vibe. It’s more of a creamy/herbal coconut (like a green smoothie) than a sunscreen summery coconut. The cassis adds to the herbal character. The whole thing feels a bit like an enchanted forest - green, fruity and sparkling.

Ebony wood younger cousin. Rounder, less sharp, more fruity. I smell so much things in this scent that are not listed in the notes nor the reviews. Maybe my nose is broken but i'm not mad about it : I get grapefruit peels ? Cassis is present but not the fruit, for me it smell like triming the cassis shrubs in a garden : very green. Some people are getting coconut and I approuve. Not a gourmand one but a more woodsy one. Ebony is absolutely the base of it and the DNA of the scent, and it's what make it a close parent to Ebony wood.

Loved it! It smells classy and mysterious, but it's also fresh at the same time. I do get the spicy beginning and a darker bitter (?) rose in the middle, with a lot of woodsy undertones all the way, that at the end became a more cozy wooden smell. One spray on my wrist lasted around 6 hours well, and it feels a bit stronger than an intimate scent, but not at all overpowering. I could use it for the office or a date, or even to just hang out with friends at a park on a spring evening.

First I plan not to buy this bcoz I checked fragratica and it similar to ebony wood which I already have. BUT I tried it today and I have to buy it! It definitely have similarly with ebony wood but less spicy and more fresh (like green-ish). Eventhough i like ebony wood but my country have no autumn and winter so personally i don't prefer using spice in summer that much. So this one is PERFECT. Whoever likes ebonywood i suggest you to try this too. For me it worth having both!

I am incredibly surprised that this scent is compared to Ebony wood. I bought Nobody Knows after a test in the shop and thought that it smells quite unique. I found out about Ebony Wood comparison at home and sprayed both side by side (I own and love Ebony Wood). I can not find anything in common, my husband thinks there is a slight resemblance, but overall totally different scents. Certainly not a dupe, like many Youtube reviews say! Lovely scent though

I don't expect, it's gonna be this good. It's fruity and earthy at the first sniff because of casis in it, and then it's going to be a soft floral woody. It's cozy to wear this at rainy days. It's not that offensive woody/floral, it's just soft and easy to wear. I don't expect, I'm gonna buy it. But, at the second time, I sniff it at Zara,, I changed my mind. If you layer it with molecule perfume, the longevity will last all day. It's really a good one.

This is woody spicy heaven for me, speaks right to my soul! I also get a blast of citrus at the opening which makes this almost fizzy and sparkly, and a tad Christmassy, like a festive cocktail! It's inoffensive and classy enough for the daytime but not generic by any means. I was also happy to find that it lingered on my hair the next day. Yes it is reminiscent of Ebony Wood, but to me this is more wearable. An overall winner from Zara.

yup this smells very similar to ebony wood also from zara. not complaining because it's one of their best perfumes. i would say it has an additional red-fruity, tart, almost fresh quality to it that ebony wood doesn't. smells expensive and fancy!! excited to test the longevity edit: agree with some of the other commenters that the opening is very pink-grapefruit to me!! the fresh and fizzy/woody combo is so good

This perfume is my ultimate summer love. It makes me smile every single time I wear it. It’s bright, juicy, and freshly sweet — like an explosion of perfectly ripe guava the moment it hits the skin. As it settles, a smooth woody note lingers in the background, adding balance without taking away from that vibrant fruitiness. I genuinely want litres of this fragrance — it’s that addictive.

Woody, cozy and green. I dont think it resembles Ebony Wood, this is more green to my nose, and is less "warm". I don't like it on its own that much, it has a weird metal note I can not define. Layered with Blanc-A-Porter is brilliant and much more suits my liking, the weird metal note is gone and the mix is more "fig like" green and is "softer". Longevity is about 4,5 hours on my skin.

Just received this and wow I guess I wasn’t expecting much and maybe wasn’t sure my thoughts on cassis but this is really unique! Cassis is very herbal/tangy and compliments the rose nicely. I guess if I squint a little I can sense the Gris Charnel but I don’t get fig at all and it’s a favorite note of mine. Overall I like how this develops and takes you on an olfactory journey.

One of my top 3 scents from this line. It's an interesting, woody aromatic scent. Soft, a bit spicy and somewhat light. Feels modern and different from many typical offerings for women. Well blended. Leans slightly unisex. I enjoy it outdoors, especially during late summer and autumn. Good for work and going out to run errands or stroll in a park. I like the bottle design.

On the initial spray, this smelled like rotten rice. It made me gagggg. But then after a few minutes it turned into this wonderful peppery floral scent. I could not stop smelling my wrist. It also seems to last a while, I sprayed it on my wrist before going to bed and i could still clearly smell it 9 hours later.

Loving this and totally worth it at $25. The cassis and fresh spices in the opening smells great with a lovely creamy coconut/woody drydown. Longevity not the best. Definitely unisex. Returned the bottle and received one with the same garbage atomizer!!! Must be the one they use on this specific bottle.....awful

I sprayed this on for the first time on a cool evening in July and it stole my heart. This smells complex, woody, deep, masculine and warm. Like Zara scents, it's not thick or sticky. It's light but layered with thick notes and gorgeous. New favourite.

Woody, fruity, spicy. I feel like it smells a little different and mysterious each time I wear it. I really like this and it is on sale right now. The box says it has cassis, rose, black ebony wood, creamy coconut, fizzy blackcurrant, and black pepper.

Love this one such a modern and exciting rose! Smells a bit like ebony wood but I guess it would be its lighter funner version. Gives a citrucy vibe at fist even though it's doesn't have any citrus. It's great! We'll done on the creativity Zara!

Totally unisex. Someone said they get fig vibes from this and I agree! Why is coconut note not listed? It's written on the original package and it's the most prominent note for me - at least in the opening.

I love this! As a lover of fruity gourmands with a fascination for wood notes, this has been a perfect way to dip my toes into more complex scents. I love how it changes during the drydown!

Omg this is so pretty but definitely doesn’t smell like The’ Noir which I love or Ebony woods which I also love.

This is probably a dupe of Zara x Jo Malone CBE’s ‘Ebony Wood’ and I love it. This is such a unisex fragrance.

The bright fruity top note is fantastic but the sweet dry down is rather disappointing

This is an interesting and kaleidoscopic fragrance, and a solid like. I sampled it on my jacket in-store twice over a week, loved it, and initially thought it had sandalwood -- I was confused when the three main notes were cassis, rose, and ebony. It made sense when I read the rest of the package, which also had "creamy white coconut", "fizzy blackcurrant", and "black pepper". The coconut and ebony were dominant to me, and I picked up on a little dry peppery spice, and a hint of rose. I did not notice any cassis/blackcurrant at all. During that week, the jacket held the scent extremely well, and it was a beautiful rich coconut-ebony-sandalwood -- a bit creamy, a bit sweet, with a bit of spice and rose. It was linear, which I like, and smelled the same in-store as in the drydown. Very well composed, very unique, feminine leaning unisex, a guy could totally wear it. It smelled and performed beyond its price point. I was impressed, and it was really satisfying a recent craving for rich creamy woody notes. After thinking about it that week, I bought the full 100ml for $36. However, when I sprayed it at home, it was totally different -- much more similar to what other reviewers described. It was very fruity, with cassis/blackcurrant as the dominant note. Much more jammy than what I smelled in-store, with brief green top notes for the first hour or so. Definitely not linear, it started fruity, but got less sweet and a little more woody over the day. But nothing about it was evocative of sandalwood anymore, not creamy at all, and the ebony and coconut were totally in the background, only slightly more noticeable in the drydown after several hours. If this is what I had smelled in-store, I wouldn't have bought it. There's nothing I dislike about it, but fruity notes tend to be my least favorite. But it still is interesting and pleasant and well-composed. So if you love a jammy fruity cassis/blackcurrant centerpiece on a subtly woody backdrop with some light spice and complexity, you may absolutely love this -- especially for the performance and price! My theory is that the sample bottle's exposure to light in-store may have degraded the fruity top notes and left the coconut-ebony base that I love -- so I may experiment with leaving my bottle on a shelf instead of in a dark cabinet. I would normally never do that to a fragrance, but I would love to get this to smell how it did in-store. I will also try layering it with some creamy vanillas and sandalwoods to bring out those notes more. Overall, pretty impressed with this collection from Zara.

Encouraged by numerous opinions that Nobody Knows is very similar to Ebony Wood and the promotional price at Zara, I decided to check it out and bought this perfume. Well, let me tell you right away that I feel almost no resemblance to Ebony Wood. Even if there is some slight association with ebony wood in both perfumes, in my opinion the similarity is very distant and only at a later stage, it is certainly not a substitute, especially for a guy. Ebony Wood is full of spices and strong clove, and leans more towards the masculine side. In turn, in Nobody Knows there are almost no spices, I can clearly feel the tartness of blackcurrant leaves, slightly peppered and not too strong rose, and only further in the background I can feel the characteristic woody and warm atmosphere of ebony wood, but it is a different scent than Ebony Wood. The scents are a bit closer to each other in the base, but Nobody Knows does not have the expressiveness of Ebony Wood, the base is much more delicate. Nobody Knows is fruitier, tart, much fresher and greener, although still quite heavy and although it can be considered unisex, it veers definitely towards the feminine side. As a man, I had great reservations about wearing this fragrance and gave it to my mother. They fit a woman better. The parameters are very decent, I could feel them clearly for 6-7 hours, the projection was quite good at first, but after an hour it was delicate. If you're a guy, don't expect Nobody Knows to give you similar vibes to Ebony Wood. It's a good perfume, but I recommend it mainly to women who like woody, tart, fruity and green scents. Rather for spring and warm autumn. Edit: After giving Nobody Knows to my mother and feeling it on her, the resemblance to Ebony Wood is nonetheless striking. I felt this scent a bit differently on myself... but I will probably repeat the tests. 8/10

I honestly don’t know what to make out of this one. Upon first smell it reminds me of Versace Crystal Noir and at some point in my youth that was my signature scent - I love it, especially on the dry down when the Cassis are toned down. Well, this had the same opening and I’m not loving it. I see people compare it to Gris Charnel, which I am not that familiar with besides buying a big tester I had to sell because neither my husband and myself could bear it. It made both of us nauseous. This one though does not. Or at least, it’s bearable. The thing is, on the dry down it is actually very nice. The last time I tried it I thought to myself, nope I’m going to sell it and later on I kept getting these beautiful wafts and realized it was my arm. So now I’m trying it again, just sprayed it and I’m very excited to see if I actually like it that much in the dry down or if I in fact tricked my mind because of how much I didn’t like it at the beginning. At the moment it smells very much like Crystal Noir - the good part of it. Update: Yup, 30-40 min in and this is totally a love but the opening notes are not so much.

I grabbed this on a whim in the checkout line, and on its own I don’t love it. It opens with a lovely bright green and fruity blackcurrant smell that fades into dusty rose and deep, dark woods. I can’t think of a better word than dusty honestly; there’s a dusty university library element to this, but also a chilly harshness. I wish the drydown had a little more warmth - like a lamp on the library table, and a soft sweater to put on. For the price this lasts ages, I could smell it for 6+ hours. I tried layering this with Tilak, which is a honey/ylang ylang/vanilla oil, and the result is incredible. The incensy ylang ylang works with the rose, and the honey and vanilla add that lovely warmth. Nobody Knows is a heavy scent on its own, so you might have to be careful with layering, but it’s pretty inexpensive so I’d say give it a try. That honey perfume from TokyoMilk with the bee on it probably would rock with this too, or like the reviewer below me pointed out, the musk scent in this same line.

The initial impression of this fragrance is truly distinctive! This intriguing blend feels both bright and sharp, yet surprisingly cozy. As the scent evolves, it transitions into a warm, jammy rose note with subtle green undertones from the cassis. Finally, it settles into a creamy, woody warmth. What sets this perfume apart from other Zara perfumes is its remarkable longevity. When I apply 3-4 sprays, it easily lasts for 12 hours or more. However, I find that just 2 sprays are sufficient for daytime wear. If you're seeking an affordable fragrance with exceptional staying power and a unique twist on the typical heady floral scents like Flowerbomb, Lancôme, or Delina, this perfume is definitely worth considering!

This does not smell at all like Ebony Wood to me. I have both. This has a citrus & woody opening and a freshness that Ebony Wood does not have. It's not listed but I smell some kind of orange/grapefruit note at the top and it is so very good! The only thing that is similar to Ebony Wood is the "Ebony" note on the middle. However, I much prefer this because it is a fresher take and it smells like an expensive perfume. Very complex. I can smell every note listed, plus others not listed. Ebony Wood has that dark clover note that bothers me and this does not have it. Definitely a unisex fragrance. It's on sale right now at Zara for $18usd/100ml. It's a steal!

This smells like gingerbread. Or like if you took a bit of fresh, spicy ginger and added a few drops of coca cola and vanilla to round it out. That's the best way to describe this. It smells bright and energetic. I was excited to try it due to the hype, but it wasn't an instant love. Nobody Knows reminds me a bit of Twilly d'Hermès Eau Ginger. If you want a fragrance that is not only super creamy and woody, but also has a super strong sillage, this perfume is the way to go. It's slightly overpowering, almost, so I make sure not to over-spray it. It suits colder months better, that's for sure. I can literally see myself sipping espresso martinis while listening to some jazz, wearing this. Very mature, bold and sexy.

For the price this smells a lot more expensive. In the opening I get tomato leaf and blackberry, then I can also smell fig. I'd describe it as a dark scent. It reminds me a bit of BDK Gris Charnel, but I'd say it's sweeter and the patchouli note changes it a bit from GC. It also reminds me of Guerlain Petit Robe Noire Black Perfecto, without being as sweet as that.

compliment getter, and easy grab for me.. specially in early Autumn! Woody, spicy, and after being on my shelf for over 2 years (editing this in oct 2025) I somehow started smelling passionfruit? It's definitely not the same as Ebony Wood, Gris Charnel and The Noir 29, but if you like them you will probably also enjoy this.

I really don't think this smells like Ebony Wood at all, because to me this perfume is fruity. On my skin, the cassis is the star, and I barely smell any wood. If this is woody, it's a warm fruity wood, and it's soothing and inviting! I'd go as far as to say that this reminds me of Armani's Si.
