Perpetual Oud

writing this review just having peeled my club dress off and unlaced my shoes at my place after a 12 hour club night. tldr: this peppery creamy rose and oud combo lasts surprisingly well and hits really nicely from start to finish, even with hardcore dance sweat LOL from the bottle, I could smell the pear and rose, and from first spray the freshness was there in full force, which then went into this sharp, almost peppery rose (it smells just like a lokum in my fave flavor). the peppery rose part kinda lets you peek through and smell something incense-y in the background, and it slowly pushes through to reveal a very warm yet slightly menthol-y oud scent combined with a sweet creamy note that reminds me of very glamorous middle eastern women with brows sharp enough to slice wood. the dry down gives way to a vanilla with a bit of tooth to it, likely from the leather, amber, and pepper; this dry down just wraps you in this “just bordering on smoky” mist that works extremely well. while wearing this perfume, I sweated out on stage doing an open mic performance, danced and smoked the night away, went to another bar, rinsed and repeated, went to a friend’s place, hotboxed, pizza’d, crashed, and woke up to the amazing dry down going strong about 12+ hours later. longevity is quite good (just almost mugler-adjacent tier which is surprising) and my friend on the other side of the couch said she could smell it on me still. all in all, I’d keep several bottles in my room. for around 20 euros this perfume is kind of a big slay... it’ll be a mainstay in my rotations!

I have to give kudos for the deep red rose element. The rose is robust, jammy, and a little mature. I personally can’t enjoy this scent much because it reminds me of the scented rosary I was given by the catholic monastery I grew up going to.. however! It’s a powerful rose with a soft woodsy undercurrent. A little sweet, but nothing girly about it. Not very smoky or dangerous though, just a bit leathery and spicy. Surprised this is called perpetual oud because it’s way more perpetual rose in my opinion. Great find for rose lovers with impressive longevity! Perfect for winter nights. Update: Okay I ended up embracing my roots at the monastery and purchasing this lol! I love how empowering it is. It’s grown and glamorous— and for such a steal. Exotic and sensual. This is special night vibes, the colder and darker the better. I’m now getting a vanilla powdery note and I take back what I said about rose being dominant, it actually fades to the background after a couple hours, letting the oud, amber, and a well-blended patchouli shine ✨

I have several of the oud range from Zara. Bohemian oud is probably my most used but this is not to be overlooked. The rose does come out fairly strongly and easily identifiable. It’s quite a sweet fragrance. The first time I sprayed it, I over sprayed, as I tend to do with most Zara offerings but that was a big. It was way too overpowering and I actually felt a bit yukky. I tried it again a few weeks later, but this time going carefully, just a couple of sprays and that was so much better. This is quite a strong one and lasts all day easily on clothes. Skin has less longevity but still longer than most Zara perfumes I’ve tried. Probably around the 4 hour mark, before you have to start sniffing your wrist, lol.

Perpetual oud smells almost identical to KAYALI sweet diamond pink pepper 25 but without being too sweet. I have tried them on me and right away I can tell that this is somewhat 90-95% dupe of the SDPP25. I have also tested out OSM from MFK and Perpetual Oud. They smelled like from the same family of Oud but OSM’s oud is a top notched quality, well blended with other notes, rich and luxurious smell while Perpetual oud is simple, lovely and good enough to wear daily. For me, this is worth buying, it smells sooo good and way better than the rest of the Chapter 4 from Zara. I hope this helps. It lasted for 8-10 hours plus on my dry skin. (Tested on hot/dry weather)

Either this perfume works insanely well with my skin chemistry or its sillage is AMAZING! It is certainly reminiscent of MFK oud satin mood. Significant example of when a more affordable scent can be just as good, if not better, than some high-end perfumes. Such a beautiful blend of rose and oud. It manages to feel sexy and comforting to smell at the same time. Considering its price and use I get out of a big 90ml bottle, I cannot fault it. Zara can be very hit or miss with the perfumes they offer, but this is one of the best ones they've ever released. One of my favourite dupes I've smelled, even if it isn't wholly the same!

I stumbled upon this by chance as I was in Zara to grab a bottle of the LDBS/Oriana dupe, and I swear this almost landed in my basket as well. This is so stunning and sophisticated, such a gorgeous classic rose/saffron/oud style frag, honestly I prefer this to $500+ ouds that I have had the honour of smelling. Maybe that’s down to bad taste, but my goodness this is lush. The only thing that held me back from getting it was the assurance that I could test and buy another time, if I saw this flying off the shelf you can guarantee I would have gotten it.

i love it. i have a dupe for mfk oud satin from a local brand in my country (which was VERY long lasting) and it smells very similar to perpetual oud. the resemblance was good enough for me to decide to buy it from zara. i like that it's good for daywear without being too much, which is what i needed. i don't have enough formal occasions nor the budget to purchase and wear beast mode oud satin by mfk. so this is perfect. to me, it smells expensive.

Recently bought this after seeing it in a store, I have no regrets! I wore it to a Halloween party yesterday and got soooo many compliments on smelling good, and it lasted long enough that I could smell it on me after passing out after 5 hours of partying lol. Definitely a rich smelling fragrance, I’m not a big fan of rose perfumes/notes personally but this one is an exception as it balances out well and has lots of depth from the other notes.

I've wanted an oud perfume without vanilla (gives me migraines) for a long time but they're hard to find. This zara perfume is a wonderfull strong oud with some freshness and the saffron and rose makes it very luxurious. It made me instantly think of Shalimar by Guerlin, it won't last as long off course but it is an affordable dupe. A sensual perfume that lingers on your clothes, but unisex since the rose is not overpowering.

I bought this one this week and I own all MFK oud perfumes. I have to say, I am impressed. While I love Maison Francis Kurkdjian scents (and especially their Ouds) I have to say I find them a bit overpowering sometimes. With Zara’s perpetual Oud you get a wonderful scent that reminds you of MFK but to a fraction of the price. I will be stocking up on this one. Try it.

This is such a beautiful Oud scent. So well balanced and not the slightest bit overwhelming. It is so good that it can be used all year round, even from day to night!! Another great fragrance from Zara and I hear it’s a very good dupe of MFK’s ‘Oud Satin Mood’... I’ll let you know after I’ve tried that on. 😉

To me this is like Kayali Sweet Diamond Pink Pepper meets Tom Ford Noir de Noir. You get the pungent aspect of noir de noir and the rose-oud combo of SDPP. This to me is not a dupe of Shaghaf oud as that one has strong praline and this one doesnt. Very nice fragrance overall

Rosewater with oud! Freaking amazing and good for everyday use. Could be a Mancera for how it smells, and quite linear too. But it's not a monster. If I wouldn't know it and somebody tricked me by saying it's a Mancera, I would believe it!

I dont understand pple why rate this perfume only moderate sillage and long lasting. My wife use this perfume, and i can smell her from a mile away . This thing project on her ALL THE DAY. A super perfume for this price.

you can smell the great rose and vanilla (or patchouli) notes -> I don't get any Oud or Satin Mood corelation, but it's still a great fregrance.

Earthy on first spray but dry down reminds me of Narciso Fleur Musc. Lovely.

Perpetual Oud can be described as Rose Gourmand/Intense Café reworked with a spicy opening, less vanilla and an earthy, beautifully powdery soft oudish/ambery base; it is a more deep and dark rose but still vivid and fruity from the pear, not full on gloomy mood and it is unisex; if Rose Gourmand is a play between girly and innocent - filtry and passionate, this one is instead mature and full of intrigue, the earthy base makes it much more moody, and also more elegant then Rose Gourmand from my point of view. It has an oriental feel to it and it is one of those classic smell belonging to the Arabic world, although I must say there is very little of the oud and can be considered soft, not proper opulent. The genre of rose-oud is an overcrowded and abused one, that much is true...but Perpetual Oud vaguely resambles one of the best in that family, Oud Satin Mood by Kurdjian: same clean and powdery oud and vanillic sweet rose but Perpetual Oud is less oudy and it dosn't have that type of sophistication since, apart from the different quality, the violette and strong balsam are missing, Perpetual Oud verges then on Montale territory. The type of rose used is now quite common too since it's the same one that is embuded in the dna of Montale and Mancera, and replicated by many such as Lattafa, Swiss Arabian, but also many other niche brands. To remain in Zara territory I would say that it is the same rose as in Rose Gourmand but with the musky part more synthetic and less vanilla. Usually Zara's rose is different, both in their standard line and in the Jo Malone collaborations. For instance, this type of rose shares nothing with Zara Fashionably London, which too is slightly oudy, until now they only used this kind of rose in Rose Gourmand, Perpetual Oud and maybe a little in the recent Queen Plumrose. The fragrance opens with a blend of fresh pear, light pepper and saffron, which smells sweet and lightly smoked, not medicinal or leathery at all; it is not an overwhelming spicy result, only vaguely oriental and lasts for just minutes, making way to a rose that is bright, a little immature and green. When it warms up the rose changes its character becoming much more warm and sweet, and it's now the same rose present in Rose Gourmand/Intense Café, so similar actually that I was initially disappointed. This rose smells very pink, has some fruity nuances and it's very sweet, to its inherent sweetness is added a strong vanilla making it jammy, thick and sugary. Some light green facet are present, as in a bit of the stem, but nothing proper lemony or like geranium. It smells round and modern, a type of rose very different from the classic powdery or soapy or photorealistic ones. Luckly the rose continues to evolve, verging on red roses territory and showing some earthy facets, maybe some of the vetiver of the base is starting to come forward, but at this stage the vanillic sweetness still remains, it's just the texture that changes from the sticky and jammy rose of Rose Gourmand to a more dry and light one. Just as in Rose Gourmand/Intense Cafè there is a strong musk accompanying the rose, with the same clean and carnal quality but maybe a bit more synthetic smelling. A little of the initial saffron returns and caresses the rose petals, at the same time a bit of oud can be felt; it starts lightly medicinal (like a very faint version of the oud in Arabians Tonka), resambles a bit that of Oud Satin Mood by Kurdjian, soft and clean, but it soon blends in to a generic woody oriantal character; it makes the rose more deep and sophisticated but it is used sparingly, more like a base note then a real strong component of the scent as the name suggested. The proper dry down is a blend of light patchouli and vetiver, more vetiver on my skin. There is nothing smoky or heavy about the vetiver (as sometimes it is in Zara perfumes), nor it is aromatic, it's just lightly earthy and refined, it is mixed with an incensed amber and their blend makes for a powdery, dusty and earthy dry down that I appreciate very much, since it smells classy but also dark and moody. The fading stage is similar to that of most Montale. I don't think the scent is leathery at all, they mention this in both the description and the notes but I could not find trace of any leather on both skin/clothes and tester paper. I liked the genre and the idea of taking that very sweet jammy rose, almost pristine and perfect, and then soiling it with vetiver and a oudish base. I think this could be a good alternative for whomever likes Rose Gourmand and wants a more deep and autumnal version of it, Zara was clever in choosing this direction since it is smart in a commercial point of view. Also, this one is truly unisex, Rose Gourmand/Intense Cafè I find girly and feminine to the extreme. Of course that little of oud used is synthetic but I don't think it such a sin! I loved Bohemian Oud, I tought Endless Oud was a very dirty men fragrance which was gorgeous for that price, and I surely enjoyed Perpetual Oud, more then Rose Gourmand since the oud and base notes that sourrounds that kind of sticky, jammy rose serve to soften that "perfect" immaculate rose making it more deep and edgy in respect to its original form. Hipster Oud is good too, more modern and very fruity. The perfume lasted on me for about seven hours, projecting moderately, a good performance for a Zara. On clothes remains for days and when oversprayed it didn't bother me. It beheves best in autumn and with the cold, it almost seems more deep and earthy during those months.

There are youthful fragrances, and then there are fragrances that just exude an air of wisdom and experience. Perpetual Oud by Zara? It's definitely in the latter category. Think elegant, chilly evening weddings where you want to stand out, or sophisticated gatherings that demand the highest level of refinement. Now, here's the thing – you don't need to empty your pockets on the larger 80ml bottle. Trust me, this fragrance is so rich that the 30ml option will last you plenty. It's that well-priced Zara magic, offering you an intoxicating blend of oud and rose that's intricate and yet incredibly inviting. But, and this is a big but, this scent isn't for everyone. Before you make a hasty purchase, stroll into a Zara store, grab a paper strip, and give it a test sniff. If it hits the right notes for you, it's going to be a marvelous addition to your winter fragrance lineup. 🌹🍂✨

Unfortunately, I can't really compare it to any other fragnance since I haven't bought any other ouds from Zara. Hopefully, they still have those because I am intrigued about getting more now, lol. I'm not really sure how I feel about this one, got mixed feelings. I mainly bought it because of the bookish package and it was the most sold out one in the store. The first spray reminded me of something that an elderly person would wear, and by elderly, I mean a person in their 60s. Once the notes settle in, it becomes way more bearable and good. It gives that earthy, deep rose and amber scent. I also got the slight whiff of the musk and pear but that just might be me. The durability depends on the body chemistry and if you're layering your skin with lotion, with those bonuses the scent will last around 7-9h, and on clothes-wise it's gonna last for days. It is a perfume that others are gonna get whiff of when you walk by. As said, once the notes settle in, it gives off really cozy, darkish and mature vibe topped with a tiny bit of sweetness, at least to me. :)

I've never smelled Oud Satin Mood, but can I speak for comparisons to Rose Gourmand (only vaguely similar in the very opening. For the record I don't like RG) and Sweet Diamond Pink Pepper (which I like a lot). This is definitely basically similar to SDPP, but it's soapier, less "pretty", and a little darker and woodier. And maybe a bit less sharp. I like it. It's also got some power, a little goes a long way. It's sort of a soapy/woody/"jammy"/rose. Thumbs up, now I'm curious about the other ouds in the line. Update: After an hour or two, the florals and fruit fade away and the woody, leathery, vetivery notes linger for a few hours, making the fragrance transform more and more to the "masculine" side as time goes on. I don't mind that, but something to keep in mind.

This fragance - when I first tried it, I thought it would be just like their Amber Fusion (leans quite masculine to my nose and I absolutely love it on my fiancé) but I'm wearing it today and it is way too feminine for me to appreciate it on him. Maybe my nose is playing tricks on me but there's no Oud in this fragance, there's Tonka beans and vanilla, it is very sweet and definitely reminds me of OSM, or is it GFG I dunno there's this rose vanilla/Tonka type of combo after it dries down. The opening is very misleading.. Quite sweet

It's a very dimensional perfume on my clothes (didn't test on my skin yet). I live in hot and dry weather. At first spray, I get 100% Majestic Woods by Juicy Couture, though Perpetual Oud is less spicy and more sweeter than MW. After 30 minutes, I start to get a sharp smell of Red Temptation OG by Zara. It lingers on for 15 minutes, then fades into a soft Red Temptation OG smell with woody vibe. Very strange feeling for me! I could wear it with Majestic Woods, Rose Gourmand or Red Temptation for eternal sillage and projection :D

This one is a very soft blended Oud. It surely was an impulsive buy for me as I realized later that it resembles Mancera Gold Oud, and Rose Malaki but with cheaper materials, less saffron. However, PO is more work appropriate. I like to layer them together and the only difference I only spray PO on my clothes. Otherwise, mixed with my skin it's a headache-inducing.

I don’t smell the pepper first off!? And I love pepper! The first spray was like oh my wow strong. But it literally mellowed out in 15 mins. To me it smelled like some rose( rolled around in some amber and leather. That’s it. Not much more or less. I did like the dry down. A sexy amber rose. Not much sweetness at all! Need to try rose gourmand next!

I just came from Zara and this is definitely Gentle Fluidity Gold 'inspired' It's a 😍 Edit:I swear there's something in this fragrance that's similar to GFG, on my skin at least, I always get a vanilla rosy type of scent

I have it now Wait 1 hour then it morphs into Oud Satin Moud The opening is misleading because the fragance dries down to a rosy vanilla

I really didn't expect to like Perpetual Oud this much. I wore this perfume this fall/winter season and I have gotten so many compliments. It's long lasting,has a good silliage for the price. I get the rose and amber in the opening,not so much oud.The opening can be overpowering but as it settles it turns into a rosey,musky,sweet scent. So,considering the price and the amount you get, this is really good imo. The bottle looks beautiful on vanity.

It smells like typical middle eastern women and mature ladies whom I always met in my country. No sharp oud, not prominent but noticeable - strong rose in here. In my opinion it's suitable and more likely loved by mature lady.. I prefer Hipster Oud from Zara oud line, which to me more modern and young, versatile and easy to wear at any occasions and seasons.

This is not really oud heavy. I get sweet floral rose. It's oke, but not so interesting.

I really wanted one of the oud fregrances from Zara's oud line and i tried this one few times and it never appealed to me, l found it way too atrificial. Finally l tried it again in the store and bought a bottle, it reminded me of rose gourmand wich l adore, so thought 'oh great this would be a different take on perfume l love' ...but smelling this trough the day on my hand made me return it .... I couldn't bare artificial oud note, the only good thing about it is similarity to RG but everything where it differes is unpleasant to me... It kind of smells like RG mixed with Universal oud, it's less sweet then RG. Literally l wanted to like it but couldn't, l don't recommend buying even though you like RG.

Blind bought this last year. I’m happy it was only 30ml, cause I sprayed few times and it’s just too strong. It gave me a head ache pretty quickly and I could not scrub it off. I’d probably only enjoy a whiff of it if it was on someone else. Sold my bottle.

This isn’t going to be a full review. I tried it on in the store, but I don’t believe wrist sprays are accurate reflections on longevity and sillage. However, it feels like it’s a powerhouse, because... This smells almost exactly like Zara’s Rose Gourmand. I have Rose Gourmand: it’s overly-feminine, not complex by any means, addictive, and it lasts for a whole day. If this resembles Rose Gourmand, it’s bound to be long lasting. Where Rose Gourmand is unmistakably feminine, Perpetual Oud is fascinatingly unisex. It’s a dimensional Rose Gourmand. It’s supported by the oud at its base, and a wonderful bite from the pepper accompanies Rose Gourmand’s soft, vanilla-y, spa-like rose. It’s intoxicating, I don’t want to stop smelling Perpetual Oud! It’d be as beautiful on a man as on a woman, if not way more interesting! The oud and saffron notes take over the fragrance after 3-4 hours, the pepper’s bite ever present. It diverges from Rose Gourmand’s profile, and becomes denser. The result is its own thing: a honeyed saffron tinge over a “dusty” leather-oud, not cloying but still very heavy. I was very excited about its first hours, not because the progression is unpleasant, but because it’s the sort of leather-oud that continues travelling up my nose long after the scent is gone, to lodge itself in my brow bone, inducing a headache. While this doesn’t smell like car seats at all, that’s the main example I can give as to how the leather scent triggers my headaches. Incidentally, scents with which I have such experiences are often appealing to most people, so chances are many will like this! A final commentary on the bottle itself, as I have them from the Country Exclusive collection and from the Chapter I line. The glass is quite heavy, which makes it feel luxurious. The atomiser is less perfect, as it doesn’t allow for dosage control; you can only get a full spray.

Blind bought on clearance. Didn't like it sprayed on paper. Tried it on skin and liked it more, actually -- for a while, I got that intense soapy rose that other reviewers are talking about, and it reminded me of Middle Eastern attars a bit. But it had unpleasant sweet notes that were prominent in the sillage, and after I tried to wash it off, it was clear the underlying base of it was a nasty sweet woody amber. (I also tried Bohemian Oud in this series, which is a not-too-smoky incense + non-edible cocoa gourmand scent. I would actually recommend that one.)

I'm a fan of oud, ambers, incense, patchouli, and musk. I'm not so much a fan of powdery, suffocatingly sweet scents. Perpetual Oud is sour frosting, both in the bottle and on my skin. If you hate powder, vanilla, or gourmands you very likely won't enjoy this fragrance.

First impression review revised, albeit just a bit. To me this is a beautiful modern earthy rose with a good dose of sweetness. These roses bloom on the earthy bed of patchouli. There is way less of a chilly oud vibe, despite some detectable clean-medicinal kind of oud, especially in the beginning. Other oud-roses I got I find more cool than this (comparing New York Oud, Rasasi Morhaf, Czech&Speake Dark Rose) A rather linear rose, and the sweetness makes all the difference. Oud Bouquet and Satin Mood are predominantly oud syrup to me, which is so much less in focus here - Probably got downvoted for that, and hey, maybe you find them more similar, me less so. The Rose Gourmand association I do get as they share a lot, only this is all patchouli soil instead of powdery dragées. As a rose aficionado this is a real beauty to me, sweetness mingling with some deep forest vibes.

Perpetual Oud smells similar to Oud Satin Mood in the first minute of spraying it, but develops into a more red rose scent as time goes by. Oud Satin Mood is more deep and nuanced and smells like its price. Zara fragrances usually smell cheap but this one actually smells expensive. The rose note is rather flat, but adding saffron and amber was a great move since it elevates the scent. When sniffing it after a while I get something slightly minty. It's a unisex fragrance leaning slightly towards feminine. I feel like the longevity is weak but I don't mind considering the price. The bottle is pretty and heavy; the glass bottom accounts for about a 1/3 of the bottle. Since it's cheap, I think it's a great purchase if you want something similar to Oud Satin Mood to wear everyday. Layering this with a rich vanilla like Vanilla Diorama would be amazing.

At first sniff, I immediately understood the comparisons to Zara Rose Gourmand because there’s definitely a sweet musky rose base here similar to Rose Gourmand. It’s very very rosy with a unique Middle Eastern feeling; has the same type of medicinal incensey rose as the rose in Juicy Couture’s Royal Rose. It also gives me sweet wine vibes? similar to the one in MFK Gentle Fluidity Gold. I don’t know if any of this made any sense lol. I’ll prob go back and edit this once I actually wear it (this is just first impression from test strip). So far, I’m loving this whole collection (minus Endless Oud which I haven’t smelled yet)!!

I love perpetual Oud!! What a beautiful scent! I would buy this if it were $200! I own and love Oud Satin Mood. This is a cousin, not a dupe. It’s very similar but Oud satin mood is smoother, softer. Perpetual Oud is beautiful on its own. The Oud is soft and the rose is a bit sharp, but that’s what I like about it. It’s like adding a sh*t ton of Oud to Delina! I love that sharp, jammy Rose on top. It’s a lovely scent! For $35, it’s phenomenal!!

Rose-y oud. Or oud-y rose? This or that, spiced up with some saffron, pepper, and with a hint of leather, patchouli and vetiver in the background. It has a relatively strong sillage and lasts much longer than an average perfume. I'm going to sell mine, not because it's bad, but beacause oud (again) clashes with my skin chemistry, I wish it didn't. and TBH I'm quite impressed with Zara perfumes, most of them smell good and are affordable.
