Red Temptation Winter

Sweeter, But Even Better The first spray comes out with a hint of booziness and carries with it a slightly sour cloud, very bittersweet, made of toasted sugar and white flowers. There might be a hue of bergamot and other citrus fruits, but they are not too loud and last a short while. A subdued, leathery-like accord follows this pleasant explosion. I clearly perceive the orange-brown pistils of the beautiful saffron flowers, a tad rosy and smoky. I feel like smooth suede leather, not serious like "True Leather Women | Zara", but something fluffy, velvety, buttery, with these toasted and burnt undertones. Man alive! What a great feeling the opening of this fragrance gives me. I can feel the similitude of the former "Red Temptation Women | Zara", yet this flanker is sweeter and even better with a resinous and floral dimension. The heart follows by maintaining a bitter and smoky mood. The scent of toasted almond and burnt caramelized sugar are now prominent with a cotton candy vibe. I feel the excitement of a Christmas fair in the air, with a riot of stalls selling roasted and caramelized nuts of all kinds. The fragrance has softened the floral note of jasmine, which no longer plays an important role, while the greedy facet grows more and more. The intermediate phase is a breaking point and from now on Red Temptation Winter deviates from the original with a different olfactory profile. Towards the end, the tonka or vanilla note emerges which makes the perfume powdery and sweet. In the Winter version, I get more spiciness from coumarin and less saltiness from ambroxan. However, it's still on the creamy and greedy side but not that obnoxious. I don't pick patchouli much, not with a darker, slightly dirty smell, maybe it's too clean here, even if there is some sort of earthiness in the background. Instead, a tinge of pencil shavings smell is perceptible from the cedar wood. And I love it because cedar is one of my favourite woods. Coumarins and woods help deepen and soften the fragrance. The best way to describe which scent these accords form is burnt sugar. The blend is addictive and smells amazing in the air. Red Temptation Winter edition fits the cold season flawlessly. It smells like winter events, celebrations, holidays, and parties. It might feel a little heavy to wear during the summer, so keep it for the cooler seasons. Daily or even better evening, in the office or clubbing, this scent will support you and not disappoint you. Great projection and longevity. I get whiffs of a toasted marshmallow now and then when I move. I base my opinion and review on a bottle I have owned since October 2022.

I had to edit my review. This is gorgeous, it has the Baccarat Rouge and Red Temptation dna but it is so much more! Almond, dried/dehydrated fruits, musty damp patchouli and humid woods are added to the warm and sexy ambery base of Red Temptation. This is even more warm and its sweetness is more that of toasted sugared nuts, the smell that dwells in the air of a funfair... some facet of spun sugar/cotton candy still remain but this one is more nutty. Delicious! There is also a touch of synthetic oud in the mix but it is very enjoyable, specially because it is paired with a musty/damp patchouli and cedar, personally I like so much this moldy connotation! Very earthy. Thogheter they create a sort of humid soil base on which the sweet and ambery notes rest. It last pretty well, from 5 to 7 hours on me, the dry down comes and goes until the day after. Projection is also good, especially considering the price this has. This is autumn in a bottle. No burnt rubber/dentist/medicinal facet here, the saffron is sweetened by the fruity notes. I am so taken by this scent that I am using it sparely, waiting to buy another bottle. In terms of comparisons this is more similar to Montale Instant Crush but yes, also to Baccarat Rouge Extract, even though I have to say they are not proper "dupes" as many believes. Layered with Red Temptation og this is incredible! This scent gives me funfair, carnival and streets market vibes! It brings to my mind some good old memories of when me and my mother used to visit Christmasy street's markets in Bologna, Italy, buying dyhatreted fruits (coco, ananas, apricot, papaya...), hot roasted chestnuts and vintage trinkets. It recreates the atmospheres of that very humid, musty city.. full of old alleys with moss musk carpets on them, the woody entrance's doors of the many historical palaces, people's happiness and expectations tangibly in the air...and so many shimmering lights. Edit: when I first bought it I was disappointed, other then the fruity notes and the musty base I couldn't smell its complexity, and a sort of vanillina note bothered me, but after a good 15 days I completely changed my mind. Even lasting power and projection got better. I always kept my Zara rest in a dark closet after a dew sprays and they change for tge better. This is available again on Zara as of now, May 2023, so I had to revisit my review. I generally noted that with Zara perfumes is always best to give them a little time to settle after a few spray.

My perfume bottle has 40% left and I use it sparingly because of how much I love it! My sister gifted it to me and I always loved how it smelled on her; expensive, spicy but with a sharp note of something woodsy and mystical that I could never really pinpoint, might be the cedar or the patchouli but it gives off that mysterious vibe. Personally, I smell a tint of sweet to it, too. This is something a well-to-do woman with a witchy secret would wear. I’m picturing Stevie Nicks in a professional business setting...perhaps a lady with a fur coat, smoking a cigarette in a dimly lit bar with a thin cigarette between her fingers...or maybe an eccentric Jolie-esque woman in red lipstick and messy hair. It’s mature, but not in a way that makes you think of your sweet grandma. My only complaint is the longevity, does not last as long as I’d love it to. A million sprays and yet it’s gone when I’m out and about in the sun (which is why it’s a winter scent I suppose lol, but I don’t get winter where I live!). I do love how it smells beautifully wicked on the dry-down, though. If only I could control the weather! If you don’t like heavy, spicy scents this is not for you. If you do, I definitely recommend this!

It took me a few wears to get into this one. At first it was extremely strong and I could only handle 2 sprays. Now my nose is a bit anosmic and I’m absolutely addicted to this scent. It’s been been my signature scent since the beginning of fall till now. I’ve tried to change it up and keep coming back to this because I crave the smell. I have a problem! I hope Zara never discontinues this. I have 3 backups so I’m good for now. Love the red temptation line and all the flankers! This does not smell to me like BR540 or the extrait. It has a similar vibe with the waft of sweetness and burnt sugar but it’s a lot more spicy and the patchouli adds depth. Definitely not a dupe.

This is amazing. I purchased a big bottle and it’s almost gone. Been wearing it a lot over the autumn and winter! I wasn’t a fan of the original red temptation, hated that burning smell. I also didn’t like magnificently Dubai from the vibrant cities range but this is a real winner! There’s no burning rubber note, just a sweet toffee apple kinda oud and it lasts an insane length of time. On skin, it lasted the majority of the day but I clothes it lasts until you wash them. Seriously, several days later, I’m putting clothes in the washer and I can still smell it on my clothes! Good job I like it! 🤣

This is really good. It's super sweet and extremely long-lasting. It's a gorgeous example of the type of perfume that defines perfumery at this point in time. A molecular woody amber? Though I feel like this genre needs a new name, woody and ambery doesn't really cut it. I have BR540 extrait. It doesn't smell the same to me, at all. So I'll be keeping this Red Temptation Winter. It's much closer to Instant Crush, Arabians Tonka, or Rosendo Mateu No. 5. It's more toned down, but just as strong. If you love any of those you'll probably love this too.

Edit: togheter with it other Zara perfumes returned, they restoked some valid offerings such as the Oud Chapter 4 line, Exotic Mimosa, Grapefruit Incense, Incense Sunset, Wonder Rose Sublime, Wander Rose Obsession, and many more. Edit 2: Sorry, it lasted just minutes and disappeared again 🤷 If it's on stock and you want it then act quickly.

I am still so in love with this. It needs to come back so I can stock up on a lifetime supply. I'm regretting only buying one bottle. This is extremely high, niche quality with incredible performance. It's resinous, sophisticated, woody, deep, and addictive. I want to bathe in this. It's gotten even better the longer my bottle has sat. Outstanding.

Compared to the original red temptation, this winter version is a bit 'warmer'' and ''spicier''. It also have a winter feeling to it and is a little bit bolder than the original one. I get ''older'', ''mature'' and ''mystique'' vibes from this one. This one even lat four hours!!! It's the longest lasting zara perfume i've tried. It's my staple now!

Zara knocked this out of the park! This is very similar to BR 540 extrait. I use this to conserve my BR 540 bottle. This fragrance has excellent longevity and projection. The bottle looks nice and feels heavy. I enjoy this more than the original Red Temptation. I feel this one has a warmer more luxurious quality.

Beautiful! To me nowhere near BR, much warmer and more spicy. Longevity is really good for such a cheap perfume, I would say 6-7 hours on me. I have stocked up because I have no idea if it will return this winter. Love it!

I feel some spice, but not too arabian. I got hint of the original red temptation at the fist sniff. Very warm and sweet. Nice and cozy. Base notes, it remines me of Kerosene Unknow Pleasure. Love it !!

This smells like a walk in a winter fair, when you pass the roasted spicy almond stand. It's cozy & warm, and makes me feel like I just visited the Christkindlmarkt in Vienna.

I just got my bottle today and I love it. It's spicy and smokey. It reminds me of Kayali's Vanilla Royale perfume. It will be a great date night fragrance.

If Red Tobacco by Mancera had a female sister, this would be it.

This took some getting used to. Initially, I thought it was not refined at all and hated how it was sickeningly sweet - gave me a headache the first week. It needed a little bit of freshness to be a banger TO ME. Nonetheless, I've been experimenting and find that it works well at nights and worked better FOR ME when paired it with a fresher/brighter scented body lotion. I've been growing fond of the unique smell it has and have been reaching for it a little more now than i did before. The scent sticks to everything it touches - hair, scarves, sheets, my car, everything smells like this up to a few days later. Definitely does not go well with warm weather and smells better on clothes than skin.... I think this just doesn't work for my body chemistry, but its definitely not bad at all.

As someone who hated the original Red Temptatin, I love this Winter version. It's ambery, mossy, spicy-sweet and seductive. That metallic tinge it has to it works so well with the notes in this perfume. Comforting and unique in the fall and winter. This will be my signature fragrance for this winter. This perfume is a beast mode (well, as beast mode as you can get from Zara) lovely long-lasting perfume. I wore this 5 days ago and can still smell a faint vanillic whiff of it on my shawl. It really clings to clothes and lasts all day on skin as well. The dry down is GORGEOUS. Be careful with overspraying as it can get a little intense. I spray 5-7 sprays of this stuff and wait for it to settle down a little before I leave the house.

This is a great fall/winter scent! If you’re familiar, it smells a bit like Musamam white intense from lattafa! It has a similar leather note and let me say, I struggle with a leather note! But it is done well in both this and Musamam white! It smells like a sexy night in Jackson Hole or Aspen! It is only faintly sweet so if you’re looking for that, this is not for you. It is warm and sexy, slightly sweet and saffron! It’s a deep elegant fragrance that isn’t for the faint of heart but it’s gorgeous! I also have lattafa’s opulent musk which is supposed to be duping BR540 but has an added leather note. This is way prettier! That has a strooong leather smell and ended up in my husband’s collection!

I originally bought Red Temptation Winter because a lot of people on Reddit, various other forums, and even on here were saying that was a dupe for BR540 extrait. I have a bottle of BR540 extrait, but I do like to indulge in cheapies and dupes that are reminiscent of my all-time favorite fragrances, so I blind bought this. Before I say the next bit, I just want to be clear that I do like Red Temptation Winter. However, it is by no means a dupe for BR540 extrait. I only discovered what this was the actual dupe of when I bought a certain Mancera fragrance. Similar to how Zara's Rose Gourmand and my Mancera Roses Vanille are extremely similar, I realized what this was an actual dupe for when I decided to blind buy Mancera Instant Crush. As soon as I sprayed Instant Crush, I thought: "I know that smell! Zara Red Temptation Winter!" Well, I've had time to wear both. In my opinion, Red Temptation Winter is a very close dupe of Mancera Instant Crush. It is not at all a dupe for BR540, although I do find Instant Crush and BR540 to be sister fragrances. Instant Crush, to me, is like a spicier, earthier, and more "dirtier" smelling (in a beautiful way) BR540. Thus, it doesn't surprise me at all that many people assume that this is a dupe for BR540. With all of that in mind, I think that the only perfume I can truly compare it to is Mancera Instant Crush. It smells extremely similar to it. However, as is the case with many Zara perfumes, they are often far more linear and one dimensional in complexity compared to their inspirations. I love Zara perfumes, don't get me wrong, but they often feel really flat. To me, this is exactly like Instant Crush, but without the complexity and nuance. Instant Crush is a dynamic fragrance. You get complexity, a good dynamic range of scents, and it smells very refined and sophisticated. It also projects more and has better performance. Red Temptation Winter is far more flat and linear, as I've already mentioned. It's not dynamic. It doesn't project as well or last as long. Also, you can find 4fl oz / 120ml of Instant Crush on trusted discount sites for around $70-80. Seeing as Red Temptation Winter was $35 for 2.7 oz, I do not find it a good deal at all when Instant Crush can often be found in a much larger size for $70-80 or so. My advice would be go with the better value here. Find Instant Crush on a fragrance discount site that you trust, find a good deal on it, and go that route. You're basically going to get the same scent as Red Temptation Winter, except it's going to be far more refined, sophisticated, more complex, will have better projection and longevity, and will overall just smell like a far more premium product. Red Temptation Winter isn't bad, but it's a much cheaper imitation of Instant Crush, and seeing as Instant Crush can be found for very reasonable prices if you know where to look, I don't really see the need to resort to a dupe. This isn't a BR540 situation, where dupes are a better way to go a lot of the time, because the larger bottles cost a fortune.

This is not an extrait br540 clone it's a very close alternative to instant crush from mancera though if you like that one! It's just an even earthier version of original red temptation which was already too earthy for me this is an easy pass for me.

Smells like a combination of praline and patchouli. It's nice but too bad that elaborate patchouli was added

I got it as a present for my birthday. I don’t know what’s inside this perfume but it smells very off putting and unpleasant to me. It has a very heavy musty and earthy scent. It is overly strong and it has a leathery and smokey dry-down. Picture a leather car freshener. This fragrance is definitely not for the weak ones (like me). I can’t stand it so i gifted it to my sister - she seems to like it. Definitely not similar to Cloud by Ariana idk why someone would think that - it’s not even remotely close...

Vulgar. The animalic/spicy note is too pronounced.

On paper, this smelled so much better than in reality that I want to throw the bottle away completely. I wanted a cheap scent for home wear, to pass the time while saving up money to buy something better. I also wanted a powerful fragrance, because I don't see the point in perfumes that die within a few hours (looking at you, Genuym Painter...). Having read a lot about Zara perfumes here, I went there and started sniffing around, eventually settling on this one. It seemed to be a nice kind of smell, I sensed some woodiness, and the sweetness wasn't too off-putting. However, when I tried wearing it, I quickly realized it's overwhelming, overpowering and overbearing. Gone is the woodiness, instead there's some sickly sweet smokiness, a nauseating cloud that you just can't escape. Even one spray stays on for 12+ hours and nothing can beat it or improve it. It manages to be nauseating even if I wear it outside in wintertime - well, at least it confirms its name. I'm all the more salty about this because my beloved Bois Impérial used to be just as powerful, but I'm going anosmic to it too quickly now, within less than 1-3 hours. Whereas this beast of a scent that's over three times cheaper can easily linger for a day and a half. Just ew. Even though it's cheap, I vastly regret buying it, because it makes me wary of exploring perfumes as a whole, I guess, and I don't have all that much money that I could allocate to this hobby.

This is SO bad. I’m sorry Zara. I own baccarat, several dupes including the original red temptation... they are all good. This... this is just super minty and medicinal and no no no no

May not be a dupe for baccarat, and I have instant crush to me it’s not a dupe for that. This smells sweet and woodsy it just smells so good like others have said like a walk through the fair when its cold and you smell cotton candy and burned sugary desserts and wood. So good , I will be getting back ups. Love it!

I wonder how many people who voted "Reminds me of" actually has tried this perfume, because to my nose it does not resemble BR540 even in slightest hint, not the exttact, what else Red Temptation. Is it my nose broken? I don't think so, but yet how it is possible?!?!

This smells just like amber fusion to me. Very masculine with a smokey dry down. (I love amber fusion by the way) I don’t think I’d repurchase but I will definitely use it up.
