Regal White

Regal White is one of the four elements of the Series N° 01 collection. When I read that Nathalie Lorson was its nose and that, at first glance, the fragrance speaks of figgy things, I immediately associated it with her Fusion d'Issey creation. But I guess I was wrong because, compared side by side, the two fragrances don’t look much alike. The blend is figgy with a balsamic undertone, while this is figgy but more earthy and mineral. Of course, her creations by Issey Miyake inspired her a lot, but she created a brand new perfume and not a replica. A rich cloud of creamy bergamot and lemon smothered in coconut milk reached my nose when I squirt it. Something creamy with lactone reflections. This initial citric burst hides a somewhat earthy vetiver with mineral undertones, and I perceive the smell of lead when I sharpen a pencil. The vetiver rises as the surrounding citrus notes fade. The opening phase is centred on herbaceous vetiver with this slightly mineral nuance. Salty and mineral fig leaves washed in seawater, fruity but not sweet, the aroma of the fig is more similar to that of the leaves and the tree, perhaps even more to the milk of the fig that comes out when you pick the fruit. Now the coconut is more intense, and the scent it releases is that of the crunchy white pulp. I like this contrast; on the one hand, the lactone note of the coconut water and on the other, the salty one of the synthetic ambergris. Salted fig and milky coconut are two notes that go very well together. In the middle phase, aquatic notes prevail, sometimes sweet, sometimes tropical and slightly salty. I like to think that the White in the name reflects the fig milk and coconut pulp. In the dry-down, earthy and greenish vetiver manifests nutty reflections of chestnut and the salty touch of ambergris. There is a musky and balsamic undertone. The nose here was cautious and used soft, green and fresh vetiver. It is not the inky, penetrating, and obscure root to which Encre Noire EAU DE TOILETTE has accustomed and displaced us, for example. Warm and nutty vetiver. I do not perceive filth; this creation has a very safe, sweet, warm smell. Even the chestnut is subdued and not glazed like the marron glacée. Instead, it is a little toasted, like the flour obtained from dried fruit. Finally, the final phase also has a woody, dry background, with those typical nuances of wood and its shavings. What remains on the blotting paper, even after a long time, is a mineral fig and a milky coconut with greenish reflections. I think it’s great for the spring and fall, warm months, during the day, and great during the summer evenings as it’s not oppressive and not at all sweet; downwind, it has to be spectacular. So, it’s suitable for work, leisure and informal events. Performance is moderate or just above, projection stays close to me, but I pick it up every time I move, and longevity is about half a day. Even though it was the latest addition to my collection, it was the one that impressed me the most when I tried them all the first time. Nathalie Lorson has never let me down, and neither has this time! I'm basing my opinion on a bottle I've owned since March 2023.

Just picked this up from Zara Edinburgh. Haven't opened my bottle yet, but sprayed from the tester heavily, and left the store in 6 degree Scottish weather. On the opening it smells like a fruit you get in India, and other parts of Asia, called the Iced Apple (Tadgola), & another tropical fruit from Asia called Litchi/Lychee. It mostly to my nose smells like the Iced apple & Litchi/Lychee infused with the aroma of a freshly cut Water heavy coconut. I have had way too much fresh coconut water in my life to remember how it smells when you bring a freshly cut coconut to your face to sip from the straw. The overall affect makes it smell exactly like a fresh or even packaged Litchi juice you get in Asian countries; I've tried fresh coconut-litchi-lime juice on the beaches in Goa-India, Philippines and Malaysia, and the opening smells just like those juices. I don't really get any Fig notes in the opening, as I was expecting a sweet jammy fig opening; but I like the way it smells in the opening instead. Once it dries down, you do get a nutty note, which I belive could be the Chestnut and vetiver notes. It's not the warm, heavy chestnut you get in Armani SWY Intensely/absolute or By the Fireplace. It ls more like a subdued nutty scent, almost milky even. Following which the vetiver springs forward and it gets a bit sweeter. Overall, I found this quite unique; as compared to the other 2 I tried in this line: Majestic Green and Imperial Purple. I am not sure how well it will last in Summers, but to me this is more if a spring, summer scent. I don't see this working in winters or fall. It's a relaxed scent; perfect for weekends when you have a cuban shirt and shorts on and you're off to brunch or sitting on a patio sipping on beers. Not sure if this would work in an office setting, but it's not offensive; its unique for sure, but isn't Encre Noir level unique that you can't wrar it in the office. I have Nathalie Lorson's Encre Noir Al'Extreme; and I am looking forward to layer Regal White with that perfume. Overall, I like it, it's unique and will make you stand out; will update on performance after a full wear. Update*** Longevity seems to be great on this. Applied two sprays last night at 11pm on my woollen pullover, its 9:30am now and I can still smell it; projection and sillage still needs to be tested.

I'm in love with this fragrance. Mineral and vetiver, gets a clean, fresh feel. For me it's the super fresh, crisp, dry feel of an ironed white shirt. Quite linear but I don't mind because I'm so into that dry fresh bubble. Interesting and very pleasing. Great job Zara

Maybe my favorite fragrance from this Zara collection. It's a great vetiver fragrance à la Encre Noire or Gray Vetiver with a fruity, tropical twist. Top tier versatility, fantastic for spring and summer day. 😎🥥🍹 Give it a try!

Great coconut smell. On my skin projects 30 minutes and last few hours sadly.

IMPORTANT: if you buy this or any of Zara refillable bottles please adjust them tight to avoid leakage. Do this and there will be no problem! Coconut galore! That is how I would describe Regal White with only two words. From start to finish the scent beheves on me in a linear matter and it doesn't particularly evolve but it displays its complexity unveiling all the the parts of the coconut, not just its water as described in the notes. So we have coconut water, coconut shell and coconut fruit's pulp, which in Nathalie Lorson legendary style are grounded on a base of evolving vetiver, first cool, watery and mineral, then earthy and even a tad ashy in the closing stage. Ambroxan, fig and chestnuts enrich the blend with various texture and effects. I would define it as an urban coconut, it is very peculiar because it doesn't fit in the usual beachy style, or sunscreen, cocktail and gourmand type. It is devoid of sweetnes and stickiness but still manages to be lactonic, it is lactonic but still manages to be fresh and cooling which makes it an adaptable cocunut, dynamic and smart. Urban. I think it would suit any occasion in summer and it smells modern and unisex. The opening is seriously refreshing. In this first stage you sure smell coconut water, weightless and mineral in nature, some light citrusy note are well intertwined with it and so is a green note reminiscent of fig leaves. A creamy component coexist with the watery part, almost lactonic as true coconut milk but it is non sweetened. This characteristic evolves and stabilizes in to a nutty dimension, as if it comes from the coconut shell; I am almost sure this nutty and textural effect is given by the chestnut note which often can not be properly smelled but always contributes in creating great effect. Some texture if we will. I don't think it is fig milk that created this creamy aspect, personally of the fig I can only smell the green parts. At this stage the scent is really delicious but without being gourmand. That type of character is never reached by this fragrance because the coconut rests on a ever present base of vetiver, already peaking through the opening; in that stage it appears to me as a mineral and watery vetiver, only lightly earthy, bringing with it a cool aromatic sensation. It is not often that I smell vetiver worked in this way, quite unique. Another layer of green is added to the vetiver through what I belive to be the smell of fig skin, so tenderly green and photorealistic, it almost seems I am touching that part of the fruit. From the middle stage to the dry down the coconut is always present but now it is more pulpy and fruity, crunchy and fresh, coupled with a more earthy version of the vetiver, now intensified and evolved to reveal an almost ashy undertone; it is a more earthy version of the initial vetiver, it doesn't have a strong soil nature but a mix of mineral and asphalt quality that I would describe as lightly ashy (only lightly, it never reaches the depth of the famous dark vetiver Nathalie is known for, it only lightly hints at that). Besides, the ambroxan in the base seems to bring a light quality to the vetiver, plus some saltiness and even a transperent woodiness to the fragrance. It rounds things perfectly and elevates the finish of the fragrance. Performance is in line with the other fragrances from the collection, lasting for about six to seven hours and projecting moderately for the first three hours. I noticed though that even if I don't smell it on me anymore people near me still comment positively on it. First time I sprayed this fragrance I didn't quite understand it and I must say that after almost two months of sitting in a dark cabinet it has become more lactonic and nutty and intense while still being super cooling and watery. When I used it the other day, in full 35 Celsius wheater it made me remember how refreshing and healing it was to drink pure coconut water while I had to forcibily walk in the city during the most hot days, yesrs ago when ai lived in Bologna. At every turn you are literally desperate for refreshment. I was reminiscing and imagined a paddler of fresh fruit appear just behind the corner, like a mirage... positioned in to the only oasis, green spot present in the street, in a very hot day. Now in my imagination, after smelling this fragrance, he could be selling the most refreshing coconut water, full of minerals, to be enjoyed in the very same coconut shells! In order to boost the sale he may have personally wrapped the sheĺls in green fig leaves so the experience is extra sensorial... so cooling that you almost get a flashback of a slaty sea breeze, traveling with your mind already to your deserved next vacation....but the ashy fume of the traffic brings you back, feet on the ground. It's time to go, but not before buying some extra pulpy coconut skewers! This truly happened to me one time but the fruits were strawberries and the seller gifted them to me, he recognized I was almost ill with heat exhaustion and in need of a pick me up, and let me tell you...strawberries never tested that good again! This fragrance is very photorealistic in this sense, it is cooling and it has a kind of coconut that you can enjoy without worries of being cloying or sticky, even in the heart of sumner. Very good quality and now on sale for 15,90€ for 100ml. I belive it is still sold in shops but not on the web site (where it may still pop up from time to time).

Nice fragance, fairly linear, but fresh, original and unintrusive. Medium longevity and short sillage, which makes it a great choice for everyday use - even more considering the cheap price. On my skin, the chestnut really comes through with the coconut water, and I do not get much fig, maybe a little bit through the slight milky feeling it gives. The ambroxan combined with the coconut water really gives a refreashing feeling. Despite fig and chestnut notes, it does not comes out as sweet (which is why I didn't like Fat Electrician by ELdO, which goes more in the marron glâcés direction than pure chestnuts; or Frustation, also by ELdO, which also contain too much vanilla for my taste), it rather evokes roasted chestnuts bought on the side of the street at the end of summer, and could also be worn during the fall season. While sold as men EDP, it is quite unisex, despite the vetiver element, which doesn't comes out to much on my skin. Great blind buy for the price, and quite a nice Zara offering.

Just tried it at Zara. At first it did not smell great. I did not smell any coconut.. it was very fresh. I didnt like it. But after 15min or so other notes started to pop up. It smells like watery coconut - not thick creamy coconut but more like a fresh plant fragrance. Some say it is gourmand - it is but very toned down, and after 30min. There is some creaminess to it, I guess that is the chestnut. Not sure about fig - maybe that gives it a unique note. I think it is great for summer as it is not overpowering. That green note is always present but it is not giving me headache. It smells fresh like a beach breeze that carries some faint smell of sunscreen. It also smells like water (?), not sure how to describe it but I feel like I am in water when I smell it lol. I will give it a try this summer. It is rather unique and does not dry down to same sweet scent that 90% of Zara perfume has. It smells very niche. Definitely unisex.

Sweet and watery—which isn’t to say watered down (it actually feels strong like a sports cologne). I agree with Kunal_y2k that this feels like a sweet drink, like a more palatable coconut water but ordered in a warm cafe (no coffee notes though) where your partner has ordered something nutty and lactonic (and also sweet). It’s definitely unique, I don’t have anything that smells like it in my collection. Somehow both cozy and cool.

I'm not a Zara person; I never bought anything from them. I heard about these perfumes, so I decided to give them a try. I was surprised by this collection; this is a really nice vetiver scent. It is slightly sweet, nutty, and earthy. Fat Electrician and Aimez Moi Comme Je Suis is what came to my mind. I can see this is targeted for men, but I can assure you, it's 100% unisex.

After an uncharacteristic opening, it switches briefly to a lighter version of Encre Noir/ Encre Noir Sport.

It is a Zara. Usually Zara's perfumes are cheap and smell good. The only (and major) issue with these is longevity. In some cases is the dry-on. They have a great opening, but the dry-on turns to be some bad ones. It is a woody odour which keeps this character to the end, but weaker. This has a good longevity because of Ambroxan, but projection is around 1 meter(3ft). It can be worn year around, day and night. Test it, this may not sit good on you. It is cheap and if you like/love and is discounted, so buy it. I didn't like this one very much, but this is because of me. Some complimented it, some disliked it. I live in Norway and cold weather is normal here, and this one had a good performance in the Nordic weather. Test it.

IMHO this smells like Vetiverich with some ambroxan in it, which makes it somehow worse. I like Vetiverich, I don't like Regal White, it smells vaguely like nail polish or paint and I can't get that image out of my head. My female friends hate it, one said it smells like a "failed experiment in a building", whatever that meant.

I tried to revisit it a month later. It's okay, it does remind me of Vetiverich still but it has its own quirks. My friends still do hate it, I wear this whenever I don't want to wear my usual fragrances. Performance wise this is pretty weak imho.

Coconut water. Very watery indeed. I can appreciate this perfume from an artistic perspective - it evokes such a unique experience for this price point. It makes me feel like coconut water is being poured on me from a bucket. But herein lies the problem for me. I don't want to be doused in the coconut water. There's too much of it for my taste. You REALLY have to love coconut water to like this I think. There is potential for this to be enjoyable when you feel heaty in warm weather, but on the flip side it also might be too much for such conditions. I regret buying it, but there were no testers in store. I'll give it a few more weeks to see if I start to like it, if not I will be passing it on. Update: I agree with Rosemary14's review above, this does smell very strongly mineral and vetiver. I've instead started using this as a room/fabric spray and enjoy it much more this way. It smells like an expensive hotel somewhere warm!

I was looking forward to this one since Nathalie is one of my fav perfumers but I don't like it at all... The smell is familiar to my nose and I associated with something cheap but I don't know what exactly 😶

I agree with NA12's interpretation on this fragrance 1000%. (The only exception is I love those 2 Etat Libre D'Orange fragrances mentioned)... This comes off as a clean musky/creamy (almost powdery in texture) chestnut fragrance. Perfectly Unisex. The fig I get is the creamy fig milk, not the sweetened fruit. The coconut water is nothing tropical at all (I always think tropical when I think coconut so thought I'd add that)... this is such an easy reach for everyday or at least for those days I don't want to smell like too much of anything (I've got some bangers in my collection and need a break sometimes lol)... absolutely beautiful and I can confidently say this smells Niche. If you like the dry earthiness of something in the realm of Le Labo Santal 33 (or Zara's Energetically New York) you may really enjoy this too. They're not the same or dupes but I find that these types are in the same category in my collection. Not sweet, unisex, almost a meadow-earthiness, easy to reach for from it's more simple composition. I am really impressed with some of the offerings from Zara, mainly from the Men's section though. Most of the one's I've tried and own are firmly Unisex and smell niche. I've been sampling & buy decants of a LOT of expensive niche brands and can honestly say I love some of these Zara fragrances, not just "for the money" but because they honestly smell better than 97% of what I've been testing. Also adding that this fragrance reminds me of a less sweet version of Bond No 9 New Bond St (red cheetah print). I plan on picking that one up soon. The sweetness gives that one a more bready quality with a touch of sweetness, like a sweet biscuit. This one is just the floury biscuit lol (well sorta)

Tried the whole line today and I'm here with the first impressions. The whole line has great bottles that feel solid and have a very good sprayer, the best sprayer I have seen from Zara. It sprays evenly and makes a good mist. Way above what Zara usually puts on their fragrances. Regal White is the most artistic of the four scents, it realls smells nutty. I smell more of a nutty aroma here than for example in the Stronger With You line where the nuttiness is to me overshadowed by a lot of sweetness. Regal White is so nutty it smells almost savoury or salty to me, a bit like a peanut snack (sounds crazy I know). I think it might be the interplay of chestnut and vetiver doing this to my nose? I can't detect any fig, maybe some general sweetness that's a bit milky in the background, but I'd say don't come to this expecting a lot of fig. It's a pleasant aroma, mostly fresh and a bit sweet. Totally unisex. I cannot agre with the votes that compare it to Fusion d'Issey and Paula's Ibiza. I can kind of see a tiny similarity to Encre Noir but that one is darker, earthier and overall just a different scent. Overall it is a perplexing fragrance to me, it feels very wearable yet also the kind of fragrance I would struggle to find an occasion to wear. Definitely worth at least a try I'd say, this is the most artistic scent I've smelled from Zara since Bergamot & Leather Spritz. EDIT: The longer I have this on my skin the more I like it, I'd say I like this one the most out of the four in this line now. Really good stuff and very unique.

This has so much vetiver that it’s overwhelming. It’s kind of green vetiver too, there’s something really harsh, metallic, and mineral smelling. Like sucking on nuts, bolts, and rocks. There is something peppery down at the bottom like how herbs can come off as peppery. The coconut water is the only part I really like. I think the fresh airy vetiver with that mineral rock aspect along with the coconut water are creating that watery feeling. Water is quite mineral after all. I think everyone has tasted something metallic while drinking water at least once. Like gulping water out of a faucet as a thirsty kid. Unfortunately, I don’t get enough coconut or fig like I was hoping. This just isn’t me but it might be nice on someone else. It’s quite masculine smelling. And before you jump down my throat (people have on here) for “gendering” a fragrance, vetiver has been overused for decades in fragrances marketed towards the demographic of men. There are too many “men’s” fragrances that are vetiver heavy to count and this smells like those. So, take it up with the fragrance houses, advertisers, and marketing companies.

It's quite unique for my collection. The only thing I'm not getting is the fig. It opens with refreshing coconut water—there's no better descriptor—it's watery and coconutty. There's also another type of nuttiness peering from the background, not necessarily chestnut, but something other than coconut. There are no citruses whatsoever. Ambroxan comes into foray after the coconut water subsides, about 10 - 15 mins in, and the fragrance uses Ambroxan's hints of sweetness to transition into woody vetiver, but that happens gradually. It's a lovely, watery, uplifting scent. This whole line is well worth the money you once could pay for it (23€/100ml).
