Received this yesterday... I've never smelt Santal 33 so I can't comment on whether or not it is (dis)similar. This fragrance does smell pretty great I must say. It is also a very DRY scent. That isn't to say it doesn't have any sort of freshness to it, it's all just very dry...maybe that's where the sandalwood comes in. I get the bergamot for maybe 20 seconds, and then mostly leather and iris for the majority of the fragrance. I would reclassify the iris as a base note (at least on my skin). I get about 10 hours easily wearing this, the only thing is, after about 45 minutes or so this becomes entirely a skin scent for me. It's enjoyable on a personal level because I can still smell it if I want to, but nobody else who isn't within intimate distance of you will really get anything for the majority of its wear. For that I would say it's a really good office fragrance, especially if you like the list of notes... The price is right too to blind buy.

I am probably very bad at telling when a fragrance is a good one. I love this so much. If someone told me that this could have a retail price ten times higher I wouldn’t object. It’s a smell I find so sexy and comforting at the same time. If lasts hours and hours on me. Days on my clothes if my skin touches them after I sprayed it. There’s one of my shirts hanging behind the door and I can smell it from here. I wore it three days ago. I tried also Le Labo Santal 33 and I like it too but this is even better for me. S4nd4lwood has warmth in it, but it feels like if it was some kind of warming powder contained in a cloud of cold air, if it makes any sense. I even thought, at some point the first days after buying it, that this was going to be MY fragrance, the thing I wanted to smell like from then on. But alas I see my other favourite perfumes and I realise S4nd4lwood will always be the fling I will go back to, the irresistible possible temptation.

Zara does really surprise me sometimes and S4d4lwood is maybe one of the best fragrances ever produced by Zara. Even the bottle is pretty, discrete and elegant. Only the name obeys some puns that Zara likes to do sometimes. This is an inexpensive masterpiece of dark ashy leather with sandalwood, just a bit of an iris background or bottom note (more like iris root) and... where is the bergamot in the opening? Never mind because you just won't miss it. It's dry, dark and woody without ambery or sweet appendices to mask it. It has an high longevity and an average sillage. For the price (€12.5) you should run to a Zara store and just blind buy it. I do recommend it!

This is a no-brainer for me. It does smell like Santal 33 but of course it lacks nuances and quality just like all other cheap clones. But it does smell really nice, it lasts and it fits my needs perfectly. I tot tired of focusing on volume so these days I'm all about quality. I save the more expensive fragrances for the weekends and cosy evenings and use the cheap ones for work and the gym. This falls perfectly in the work/gym category. It's going to have you smelling good all day and it's going to do that for next to nothing. As a scent compared to other perfumes it can't score high, but as an every day frag this is a small 9 for me.

Just got my bottle and from initial wearing this is straight up Zara Scent#1 (which is a clone attempt to Santal 33) with minimal differences. Longevity so far is acceptable for what you pay, cant say it is better than Scent#1. It just opens up less dry, warmer and richer, but quickly settles into same Scent#1, linear leathery, dry woods and hints of violet. Overall, another great release, for Santal 33 lovers this could be the daily rotation item and help save Santal 33 for special ocassions. I own both Santal 33 and Scent #1, and with S4AND4LW00D added into collection I will do a side by side and update my review.

This is what Santal 33 should aspire to smell like. Everything that's good about Santal 33 is here, whilst it also has zero pickle accord...100% no brainer to purchase. This has to cost so much more to manufacture than the amount it retails at. Smells like natural sandalwood, with a persistent iris and leather which complements it perfectly. The bergamot quickly dissipates, but that's to be expected with all fragrances as it is a volatile and fleeting note. I have over 50 fragrances. This is one of my favorites. For $20, it's a diamond in the rough. Every time I smell it, I'm minded of a freshly made saddle with sawdust sprinkled over it. It's a mostly linear scent, but it's wonderful. Dark, clean leather and sandalwood. It has a good longevity and a modest sillage. longevity: 7/10 sillage: 7/10 scent: 10/10 (if you like leather) Projection: 7/10 This is a very masculine, pleasant fragrance.

A cross between TF Oud wood , dunhill indian sandalwood and le labo Santal 33, but more towards santal drydown. Not bad for a cheap perfume! Very long lasting on my skin. Easily 3-4 hours. Project well and comparable niche smell. Im surprised. Worth the money. I should have bought 3 bottles but only one left. . This one beats niche hands down. Good job Zara.

Absolutely one of the best colognes ever produced. It's like walking into a western store and standing in front of a brand-new, newly-made saddle covered in saw dust. THAT smell is S4ND4LWOOD. Clean, new leather in a bottle. Good longevity. Friendly sillage. Just ordered a backup. 10/10

I was offline for some months. I'm back now. I am off-loading a LOT of my collection. MANY great designer fragrances. I have an unopened box of this. Anyone want it?

I think its very close to Dunhill Century may be more pleasant and natural.

Bought it because I really liked Scent #1 but missed out on picking up a bottle. Unfortunately, they're not the same scent. On my skin there are clear differences. In essence, they're both cheap leather scents, but whereas Scent #1 is a smoky, almost rugged patchouli-like pleather wristband, S4nd4lw00d is a black pleather purse - smoother, lacking spice and with an obvious iris note. They're both slightly green with absolutely no sweetness or citrus (that I can detect) and both are synthetic as f*** (especially in the opening), but I still prefer the cardamom in Scent #1. S4nd4lw00d is simply more unisex that way. Projection was better on Scent #1, but the longevity is better on S4nd4lw00d I find - not great, maybe about 6 hours on skin, and significantly longer on clothing. The smell reminds me of the inside of a brand new pleather coat anyway, so might as well spray your clothes. Overall, the synthetic-ness does take some getting used to, but I still think it's a very decent buy for the price, especially if you're looking for something outside of the typical "cologne-y" designer box. Layers well with spicy and green scents too, but I don't think I'd recommend it as a blind buy. The scent is just too weirdly unrefined, like the preservative chemicals used to spray clothing to improve shelf life. But if that's your thing because you love the smell of browsing through shoes and discount coat racks, go for it. You'll be a happy consumer. I'm a huge fan of Santal 33 and yes it's quite expensive so to save up some money, I sometimes spray Zara's clones of Santal for casual occasions or when running errands, since they have average performance and smell quite nice for the price. I really enjoy Scent #1 and I have a back bottle of it, but I heard it was discontinued and replaced with s4nd4lwood. yes, they're both similar to each other, but there are some differences: S4nd4lwood doesn't have that strong piercing, slightly clean/fresh opening of Scent #1, it straight up smells like the dry down of scent #1. but I really enjoyed the opening of Scent #1 so I feel like s4nd4lwood is lacking in that department. In they dry down s4nd4lwood is heavier on the sweet/floral notes of iris/violet and the spicy cardamom accord. while Scent #1 is heavier on the leather in the dry down with a touch of violet and cardamom. The sandalwood in s4nd4lwood is creamier and richer. while the ones used in scent #1 is more clean/serene, which makes scent #1 more similar to santal 33. The performance of both are quite similar, they easily last 8 hours on me with soft projection, but you can always boost the projection with more sprays. but none of them are strong projectors like santal 33. I also have Santal Sky by Kierin NYC. It’s much fresher than Santal 33 and Zara’s clones. But still a very good fragrance. Overall i'm very happy with both s4nd4lwood and scent #1, they are super affordable and I recommend them to sandalwood lovers.

I believe this is closer to Santal 33 than Scent#1. I personally like it better than the latter. Sits perfectly on skin without much sillage, and the woodiness is less prominent than Scent#1, but the little trail it leaves is more elegant to my nose. The leather note is more noticeable than any other, and gives much more of a "bad boy" vibe to the wearer. Scent#1 had a lot less leather, at least to me. I really recommend this. Zara has absolutely nailed the molecules collection (or Overdose Collection), and this is one of the better ones. 8.4/10.

The javanol is likely what's causing people to have bad experiences with this one ( I feel the same when I overspray it, same with Fahrenheit/ Fahrenheit Aqua). Javanol is a common synthetic sandalwood substitute It's a nice scent where less is more. Everything considered: 9/10

This is indeed Santal 33. Great price. Maybe a little bit to mature in comparison with other Zara fragrances. But I am over my 30's. So I am glad Zara is not only focussed on teenagers. Great scent and great price. I can recommend this one.

Pretty straightforward fresh leathery sandalwood. Unisex to me, though leaning more masculine because of the freshness. Great on its own, especially on a man, but on me (f) I like it layered with some of my rose scents (for example ZARA's Bright Rose) to add a little to the base. Have yet to try with vanilla ones, but am sure that’ll work too.

IMO Zara perfumes are not worth the money, although they are mostly really cheap. This lasts on clothes pretty well but doesn't project at all. I personally don't like the scent as well. It's a light leather mixed with woods without smelling like leather or woods. I get loads of Ambroxan and it smells synthetic and cheap (quality not just price). So I say maybe if your son is exploring perfumes, still figuring out what he likes and not like, get him a mix of Zara fragrances to experiment and get excited, apart from that, they're generally a waste of money.

I love Sandalwood and Santal 33 by Le Labo is one of my favourites. For that reason, I bought S4nd4wood. However, this fragrance gives me a headache and makes me feel nauseous. I don't know what it is about it, but I cannot stand it, and there aren't many fragrances out there like that for me. Not too upset because cheap, but definitely a bust for me.

Over the past few months, I've bought a few decants of Zara scents and, of them all, this one has me the most confused. You know the blast of alcohol you smell when you first spritz a cheap cologne? It's stronger in this than I've smelt in any other scent, and my experience seems different than others below. Nostalgic old leather smell? Nope. Brief bergamot opening? Nope. Dark? Nada.I definitely do pick up on the sandalwood that makes up the core of the scent and I don't have many complaints. It's wrll done and natural smelling. It's nice, dry sandalwood. But there's not much else happening here. The problem is that the smell of alcohol never dissipates, but only slightly calms over time. There's a weird effect where there's times where you'll get a passing whiff and the sandalwood and alcohol just kind of 'click' and it smells enjoyable. Other times, the alcohol is just overwhelmingly irritating to the nose. I bought decants of the fantastic 9.0 and Perfect Smoker from the same seller as I got this. I don't feel like they would have made fakes, but my decant just feels off. This one reminds me of scented hand sanitizer. Shallow and pleasant when it's not irritating

I own Kierin NYCs 'Santal Sky' love the smell of Santal 33, so when I heard this was similar at a ridiculously cheap price point I went straight in and blind bought. Simply put, this is probably the most expensive smelling fragrance that Zara have put out there. Whoever was the nose behind it in Zara's lab has done a very good job indeed. Scent wise, it smells similar to S33 and Santal Sky, just slightly less sharp and bright, it certainly has more darkness, warmth and creaminess to it. Performance wise, okay, not as good as S33 or KNYC. I'd say a good 2-3 hours sillage. Well worth the £12.99 price point here in the UK, buy 3 for example and your still under £40 for a total of 240mls worth of quality smelling juice and you can increase its strength of projection by spraying more liberally if you want. What have you got to lose? Smell: 9/10 Longevity: 7/10 Sillage:6/10 Price point: 10/10

Smelling this right after smelling Santal 33, I noticed a great deal of similarity, except Santal is airier and smoother than this one. Unfortunately, I get a headache every time I try to wear this perfume, even with only 2-3 sprays. Another user also commented on this in an earlier review. I do have a tendency to get headaches from sharp/highly synthetic scents but I haven't had a problem with it so far in my fragrance journey (I've only been collecting seriously since quarantine haha) until this fragrance. Just something to keep in mind.

I understand the comparison with Santal 33, it is very close but, in my opinion this is an exact match for Santal Sky by Kierin NYC even down to the slight Dill, Pickle edge. Priced around £12 for 80ml compared to £65+ for the other similar scents, it really is worth a try. A straight down the line unisex scent, a spicy edge to start with and then a nice creamy sandalwood. Sillage and projection are pretty good, not exceptional but, as mentioned for the price I don't mind having a few extra sprays.

Bought this and at first sniff, it wasn't an immediate love. It is very different than anything else I own. I have no idea what Le Labo smells like, but the sandalwood in this is very good and the iris is just enough. The leather is not overpowering. I hope Zara brings this back.

One of the best Santal 33 dupes, up there with Maison Louis Marie Bois de Balincourt. I own Santal 33 and my friend owns S4ND4LW00D. Unless you're smelling them up close on your own skin, everyone will think you're wearing Le Labo (for a miniscule fraction of the price!)

I’ll leave the poetry to others. Opening is like a new pair of leather shoes, the drydown quite similar to Zara Gardens In The Desert Sand. A sort of old orange/grapefruit skin smell if you’re not familiar with the other Zara. It projects very well. Facts not poetry.

Santal 33’s pencil shavings note only. I like it. Lasts for barely 1-2 hours before turning into skin scent. But its Cheapie Zara. I have this in my office bag to spray every time i have to go for a meeting or every 2 hours. It’s very inoffensive and likeable.

Can confirm this is like Scent #1. Super close or even the same. A bit scratchy dry sandalwood. Pretty strong projection. If you were sad about missing out on an affordable Santal 33 clone with Scent #1 this one is your second chance.
