Leathery With A Salty Taste Salty Ocean Bouquet ... What would you expect from a perfume bearing this name? The name might suggest a marine, an aquatic, or even seaweed-based essence. Instead, the orange blossom is peppery and leathered with a pinch of salt. Fabulous! First, this year, ZARA continued the collaboration with Joe Malone and launched a new Ocean collection with three Eau de perfumes perfect for the cruel summer of '22. The three fragrances have citrus fruits and flowers as a common theme, each adding a personal touch with a particular accord. I tried them all, and even before knowing the notes, this struck me the most, followed by "Zara Ocean No4 - Saffron Orange Flowers | Zara" and "Zara Ocean No3 - Caviar Bergamot | Zara", respectively. According to the ZARA website, Salty Ocean Bouquet is fragrant with fresh and relaxing notes of bergamot and black pepper wrapped in wood and orange blossom. Um... are we really sure? To my nose, the essence is leathery, rich in spicy, bitter, and salty nuances. Between the opening notes, I immediately perceive a slightly leathery scent, and I am not referring to soft suede but a beautiful Florentine leather. Perhaps the leathery accord is hidden in the formula, or maybe it is simply the result of the bitter undertones of orange blossom spiced with a good dose of phenolic black pepper. I struggle to recognize the citrus notes of bergamot. It's subdued, and the opening is fresh, dark, and anything but citrusy on my skin. It is precisely this detail that pushes me to prefer this cologne over "Zara Ocean No3 - Caviar Bergamot | Zara", which is more hesperidic. Still, I love it and will undoubtedly add it to my private collection. I let the minutes go by slowly, and the scents unfold and adapt to my skin's chemistry. The leathery nuance is always present, even if it moves to the background to make room for the bittersweet notes of orange blossoms. I can say that Salty Ocean Bouquet centers on this white flower's notes. I also seem to perceive the sweeter notes of the orchid or of another flower with honeyed nuances, which adds a floral tinge to the heart. And then comes the ultimate act. The perfume does not lose the leathery nuance that accompanies it throughout its life cycle but wraps itself on a musky base with a touch of oak moss. The woody side mentioned by ZARA should include dried cedar as I get a hint of shavings and probably some earthy green vetiver which keeps the scent fresh. I don't believe there is blonde sandalwood as I don't feel any creaminess on the base. And then there is the salty aspect. It's not that smell of seawater or algae, but something closer to ambergris, that slightly salty touch that only this substance can offer. Those who read me might think that I am a ZARA sponsor or affiliate, but this is not the case. Personally, I find the fragrances of this premium line designed and created together with Jo Malone to be noteworthy. Indeed they have a uniqueness and a thickness that we do not find in the other cheaper range. And certainly, the value for money is unmatched for around € 25 or less for a 90ml size. I confirm its use during hot days or evenings, during late spring, and throughout the summer season. It projects pretty loud the first hour, a compliment getter! To my taste, this and "Zara Ocean No4 - Saffron Orange Flowers | Zara" have a more masculine edge, while "Zara Ocean No3 - Caviar Bergamot | Zara" is genderless. Well, I can't wait to buy the other two before ZARA decides to withdraw them from the market. Instead, I would be curious to know if anyone else recognizes a leathery facet in this fragrance or if it is just a figment of my imagination! I base the review on a 90ml bottle I have owned since July 2022.

Another great perfume by Zara and Jo Malone. ❤️ I’m so happy that Zara brought it back, as I didn’t have a chance to try it when it first came out and was really curious about it. It did not disappoint. It’s a very nice, fresh, sophisticated, and delicious scent. 😋 On me, it starts very green 🍃 💦and at first is somewhat similar to the Water Lily Tea Dress, but not the same. Then it transitions into an aquatic and more intense water lily scent, somewhat similar to Hermès Un Jardin Sur Le Nil (very green, fresh, and more aquatic). Not a dupe, but it has a similar vibe. Finally, it settles into a sweeter but refined scent reminiscent of the Issey Miyake perfumes, with its sweetness bringing it close to the Pure line (the one with pear 🍐 notes). Overall, it is a quietly sophisticated scent and not a duplicate, but rather a masterpiece with its own charm. I would classify it as a unisex, modern-day perfume designed for the city environment. Its middle phase is definitely more masculine in nature, but later sweet notes make it more suitable for a female audience. Overall, it’s too complex to call it male or female oriented. It’s something one can wear from early morning into the evening without feeling out of place. The scent is strong but just the right amount. As It doesn’t disappear too quickly but also doesn’t give people around you a headache. Even a day later, it can still be smelled on my skin. On Zara & Jo Malone range in general: I absolutely love the Zara and Jo Malone range, as it’s perfect in terms of scent sophistication and longevity, presentation, and price. It gives you the opportunity to own more scents and vary them to match your mood, as well as mix them to create your own unique style, rather than debating for a while whether a niche perfume is worth it. With so many niche perfumes being too hard to test, too intense (Arab intensity), and so pricey (thanks to Klarna making them accessible to the masses and brands hiking prices to make them less mass-market, which would damage the brand), the Zara and Jo Malone collection hits just the right spot for me. Though I wish they produced these scents in 30ml and 10ml bottles too—it would be easier to carry them around without needing to use a travel atomizer. And hand sanitizer would be also so good. 😊 With such amazing scent it makes perfect fit even in the post pandemic world. I am also a big fan of Elegantly Tokyo, Energetically New York, and Water Lily Tea Dress scents the most. I love the orange juice scents from Zara and Jo Malone too, like Amalfi and Fleur d’Oranger. I just can’t get enough of them. It’s become almost an obsession to catch them all like Pokémon. But only after testing, as even a fan like me wouldn’t like every single scent, as collections tend to be quite diverse.

This is the hidden gem of the Jo Malone collaboration. If you only buy one fragrance from this collection, make it this one. The Opening: Sharp, invigorating, and instantly addictive. Black pepper hits you first, not overwhelming, but present enough to wake up your senses. The bergamot adds a fresh, slightly tart brightness that cuts through the pepper beautifully. It's bracing, sophisticated, and smells far more expensive than it has any right to. The Heart: The magic happens here. Sea salt and sea notes create an authentic marine character. Make no mistake. it's not the cheap, synthetic "aquatic" of designer mediocrity, but a windswept, coastal freshness that feels real. The orange blossom adds a subtle floral sweetness that prevents the salt from becoming too sharp or one-dimensional. It's the heart of a fragrance that captures a cool, grey beach day with remarkable precision. The Drydown: The woody base anchors everything perfectly. Clean, refined, and warm. It provides the structure that keeps this fragrance from floating away into nothingness. It's the kind of base that makes you keep sniffing your wrist hours after application. Definitely a good buy! My wife and I really like this one. It's unisex and slightly leaning to male. This has been really a treat. We smelled this and instantly reminded me of Issey Miyake Pour Femme but less floral and with aquatic notes. A perfect unisex fragrance for me and my wife since she often uses some of my perfumes. So we sprayed some on my wife's wrist and didn't pull the trigger on buying it instantly to give it some time to dry down. We didn't want another impulse buy that we'd regret haha! We took a stroll in the mall for about an hour and ate dinner to check if we liked the dry down and if it's a good match for our body chemistry. We were laughing because we were smelling whiffs of it when we're walking and smelling it from her wrist from time to time. Ended up buying it before we went home and used it the next day. Did not regret it ever since. This is one of my longest lasting perfumes not to mention it's floral/aquatic. Easily lasted me the whole day on my skin and my wife can still smell me after I got home. I can still smell it on my clothes after 2 days and more when we were sorting our laundry. Definitely a keeper.

I tried the ocean line a few days ago and eventually ended up picking this one up out of the three. It's strange they're labelled No. 1, 3 and 4 - did they have to scrap No. 2? Anyway, this one is the most aquatic out of the ocean line up. It is true to the note breakdown above. It starts off with a very satisfying citrus opening and then becomes quite woody and salty. The black pepper isn't too prominent - I can only pick it up if i smell it up close. Quite smooth overall and i was really impressed by the quality. It absolutely leans masucline, which is why I chose this over the other two. It is definitely comparable to other masculine aquatic scents like Aqua di gio, bulgari aqua atlantique etc. so this might be an interesting addition if you're in to this scent profile. For the price, it doesn't lack quality either which is great. I'm unsure about longevity but for now, I know I could smell it on a test strip a day and a half later. I wore it out and could get wafts of it 3 hours later in the wind so I dont have a problem with it.

I’ve just received my bottle (the newer one with the cylindrical bottle), and it smells absolutely beautiful. The salt and black pepper come across very soft and smooth — not sharp or annoying at all — and they blend perfectly with the orange blossom, which is gently but clearly noticeable. Unfortunately, my nose goes nose-blind pretty quickly with this type of scent (which sucks, because these are actually my favorite notes). Still, it’s very office-safe, and I’ve gotten a few compliments while wearing it. As I mentioned, I tend to go nose-blind fast with this kind of profile, so I was genuinely surprised when I picked up the jacket I wore the day before — the scent was still very detectable the next day. Amazing work from Aunty Jo.

I bought a candle from Zara years ago called Salty Ocean Bouquet and it smelled so so good. I never found a fragrance that smelled just like it. I could have googled it but I did not. I just found out this weekend that Zara has this fragrance and I bought it immediately. It is so good and so different from everything else. Jo Malone really delivered with this one. It doesn’t scream “dupe,” it doesn’t follow the usual fresh-aquatic clichés, and it has that slightly mineral, airy, almost windswept quality that feels clean but emotional. That’s very Jo Malone London DNA, even in a Zara collaboration.

Wow! I have been on the hunt for a real compliment getter perfume for ages! This is it! Such a unique beautiful and clean scent! I can’t tell you how many compliments ( what perfume are you wearing, someone smells nice, oh your perfume is lovely and that I smell nice etc ) I have received in the last few days in comparison to more expensive perfumes I own. It definitely lasts however I would spray liberally for a full effect. Definitely masculine leaning in a way and I would say if you like Le Labo and Tom Ford you’ll love this!

This perfume is back at Zara stores in a new cylindrical bottle in the same EDP concentration by Jo Malone. On me, it's a very pleasant, refined and harmonious fresh and sea breeze aroma. It's not too salty or marine on my skin, and that sea breeze note is very well put. People who don't like oceanic-marine scent could try it too, because the marine idea is represented in a transparent and bright way. It is calm, carefree and zen type of smell. On me, it got great longevity and nice sillage.

This perfume smells like an afternoon at the beach — I can vividly imagine the scent of sunscreen blended with fresh air and sea water. It leans slightly more masculine than feminine, but I don’t mind that at all. Considering the fresh notes, I was pleasantly surprised by its longevity — it stays noticeable on both skin and clothes even after a full day of wear. This will definitely be my signature scent this summer.

I love this! For me it's a bit of everything, salty, slightly floral and cozy in the dry down. I feel like it's more masculine as it sits on the skin but definitely not too much. I can always pair it with a feminine perfume if I'm in a different mood. Super well balanced, I usually don't like fresh fragrances because I find them harsh and leading to a toilet cleaner smell, but this one is sophisticated 💛

I tried the whole ocean collection today and this one is amazing ! Smells so fresh and gives me summer vibes like it's the last of days of summer. It smells like you are watching a great sunset by the sea with some good friends. I think it's unisex but more male. My sister thinks more female but the decision is yours. You should totally try this one !

Dreams do come true 🥰 Zara brought this fragrance back and I couldn't be more excited! I already bought one. Unisex but very alluring summery fragrance. It transports you to the beach in seconds 🌊 Oh and btw. This is a beast mode fragrance, probably the best performance from all Zara perfumes. I still smell it on my skin after an entire day!!!

This is a masculine summer fragrance, with an scent that subtly remind me other salty scent. Leaned to the green rather than to the sweet scent. Weak and barely perceived for anyone besides yourself. I wouldn't recommend, just for researchers...

I finished my bottle in a 14 day vacation hopping from Kuala Lumpur to Ho Chi Minh to phuket to Bangkok. Definitely copping another bottle.

Let me start off by saying that this is not a fragrance that I would wear. It feels a bit masculine and that's just not my vibe. However, this smells incredible. It is very nostalgic to me as it reminds me of one of my most favorite rides at Disneyland: Soarin' Over California. In particular, it smells like the orange tree grove scene. I can distinctly pick out a citrusy note despite my unrefined peasant nose. I can also get a hint of ocean (hence the name I suppose), which is also a scene from the ride. Since this perfume is apart of the Jo Malone collection and is therefore more costly than the average Zara perfume, I have yet to purchase this. I just might though, for the memories. This scent, all though not wearable for me, is lovely and makes me smile. If there was a candle sold for this scent (Salty Ocean Bouquet only, not the combined ver.), I'd buy it.

Smells like fresh flowers beside the ocean. Very pleasant and refreshing. I usually don’t like marine scent but this is so good 😊 Edit: Drydown smells clean but in a masculine way. It reminded me a bit of breeze by Lattafa.

I only smell the pepper at first spray and right after 30 seconds the only thing you can smell is Orange Flower like A LOT, none salty nor sea water, Just Flowers, good but misleading name

I am a male and to me this is quite feminine leaning due to a certain undertone (although the opening is rather masculine), whereas Caviar Bergamot is masculine leaning.

It’s warm, sunny , little salty but not much aquatic notes here. For me it’s summer/autumn perfume, pleasant and everyday use

I really wanted to love this perfume. In my imagination it was going to be a mix of Maison Margiela's Bubble Bath, Beach Walk an Acqua di Gioia... which it isn't. It's very citrusy, very masculine but not in a good way. To me it smells like a cheap eau de cologne or aftershave. I'm gutted as I thought I was going to love this. To me it smells nothing like an ocean breeze.

Smells like your well-put together aunt. Pleasant, but not sexy. And kinda like her nice smelling home, not so much her personal fragrance. I feel like Jo Malone always has this vibe, even with this interesting note combo.

there is nothing similar to CK2 in this one. It rather goes to Olympea territory with all them salty notes. I was expecting something different but purchased it anyway, Zara's frags seem to appear and disappear lately

The top and base notes are very prominent. Would love if the middle notes came into play at any point.

19. July 2022 I see that everyone is praising this fragrance and indeed the first impression is really nice. It is fresh, i do not smell any salt as per se. Bergamote -yes, something watery -yes, bit of pepper -also, but indeed it tends to turn more masculine as you wear it, than feminine. At first it is indeed very similar to CK2U, but then, when it warms up on the skin pepper becomes more dominant and together with bergamot they make this perfume too masculine for my taste. But i really liked it at first, and wanted even to grab a bottle, since i liked this kne the most out of the whole collection. UPDATE: after giving it the whole day wear test i can honestly say, that it is a very masculine fragrance. Pepper becomes overbearing and i can smell only pepper in the later stages of development of the fragrance. Absolutely not my cup of tea.

I'm crying bc this smells like mosquito repellent. 😭 blind bought it because ck2 is one of my favourite but its longetivity is weak, so I wanted an alternative... so glad I only bought the small bottle. Update: its longlasting, but the drydown is only black pepper

really nice peppery and aquatic at first and amazing longevity- but i would recommend this for men as the drydown is super super masculine gives me a headache sometimes

I need to get this off my chest, despite all the praise in other reviews: I hate this one! It’s completely cloying as there is some disgusting note in there that almost reminds me of hay allergy. 'Elegantly Tokyo' from Zara/Jo Malone also seem to be made from the same base, although it is completely different.

a perfume that is very far from a masterpiece like ck 2 . cheesy, gives the headache. smell of mosquito spray really. I'm not interested in performance when the perfume is zero and I don't vote for any notes or anything. 0/10 I will throw it in the trash immediately.

I see comparison with CK2 here, but no. Those are to separate Worlds. CK2 is aquatic, salty water scent, slightly reminding me of Salaria, but way weaker. Zara is...hard to describe. Unique (unfortunately as it is discounted).. perfect. Longlasting. Salty, summery seabreeze mixed with pine trees and mediterranian plants. Always Getting noticed and complimented. Zara is epic. what they did with this perfume is crazy good juice. The best from their kitchen for sure.

This is the strangest fragrance, but in the best way. It starts out salty, citrus-y and woody. Almost like Hermes Un Jardin A Cythere, but it dries down to a musky skin scent that reminds me a LOT of Diptyque L'Eau Papier/Ella K Musk/Nishane Meant to be seen. There's a very warm, skin-like quality that remains with a bit of salt and woodiness. This is an incredible fragrance, but I think it was named incorrectly and marketed to be something that it isn't.

It's kind of giving salad btw, it must be the salt and the pepper and the citrus but also there is something that's almost reminiscent of parsley too? It gives like being by the beach in the fall in a cold and gray day to me. I feel like I can't get past the feeling of oh there is parsley in it that's why I don't think I can wear this, and so glad I didnt do a blind buy.

Whenever a friend of mine wears this, i keep getting whiffs of it. Value for money right here. Smells like the seawater droplets in the air on a windy day by the beach, with all other notes giving it an extra kick. Will be a compliment getter for sure.

I bought this perfume today, and it smells amazing! Reminds me of a long walks by the seaside after swimming and sunbathing. It’s salty, delicious, cozy and not overwhelming to me. Great job Jo Malone!

These 3 releases are undoubtedly inspired by 3 Christine Nagel creations for Hermes. Remember she created for Jo Malone too. I think Twilly, Lagune and Merveilles Bleue.

I like this one but totally leaning masculine and again it has a warm cozy impression, good fall scent pick for men
