Sensual Oud

The Kingdom of Resins Those like me, who are regular visitors to ZARA, will have noticed that the Spanish brand has recently increased the number of launches of new perfumes and entire collections on the market. Before Christmas, we witnessed the releases of the series dedicated to tobacco, water, wood and finally leather, each composed of three distinct scents. And a few weeks ago, a new series dedicated to metals, Sensitive Metallics. In recent days, ZARA has added new pieces to the collections already released in the past, including one in Chapter No. 4 Oud, and two in Chapter No. 7 Vanilla, namely Angelic Vanilla and Sensual Vanilla. But it is precisely about Sensual Oud that I want to tell you something today. After seeing the description on the official website, I already knew that it would be an exceptional fragrance and a very beautiful combination of oud, patchouli, and rose that I would not despise. For this perfume, the master perfumer did not hold back in dosing the precious resin. I can say that I was wrong when I thought #bohemian was the hardest of the collection because Sensual Oud dethroned it by taking first place on the podium. Sensual Oud is a fragrance full of warm spicy, leathery, woody, earthy, floral, and animalic accords, which immediately fills the air with a camphorous and medicinal leathery cloud. Saffron is bad, arrogant, with strong leathery and animalistic hints, dirtied by a warm and spicy clove; this prodigious mixture is placed on a bed of oud that will always remain present. There is little of the flower and a lot of the dried red pistils, with its characteristic tarred nuance, a little medicinal, astringent. The blend of these two spices is the closest thing to cough syrup, very sour but not citrus fruity, more in a turpentine way. For lovers of light perfumes, Sensual Oud might scare you at first. It is powerful, brazen, like a punch in the stomach, more in your face. It is difficult to identify the bergamot, while underneath there is a strong oud, one of those that makes their edges feel more skanky and barny. The opening is virile, and the perfume has a masculine momentum in the first moments of life. The projection is powerful. The strong opening point is the saffron and oud pair. The camphor nuances fade after several minutes, revealing a glimpse of rose petals and patchouli leaves. The rose gains strength. It is dewy, dry, powdery, and at times decadent, without a single hint of gelatinous and mellifluous notes, thanks to the contribution of the dirty patchouli which dampens its gourmand edges without being too dominant. This combination is by no means new, but together with saffron and oud, they offer something that continually changes and evolves around a sensual sphere. Even though I can recognize it, the rose remains in the background and never takes centre stage. Meanwhile, in the background, the medicinal and camphorous scents of the opening spices persist. The stage is all for them. In addition to the rose, I sense the presence of another indolic white flower, which I bet is the night jasmine. There is also a woody and creamy facet, courtesy of a smidgen of precious blonde sandalwood. In the central phase, the chords alternate like a seesaw between the masculine and the feminine. Now the oud competes for the stage with a dirty patchouli. As the scent settles in, landing on a soft, sensual, leathery, rosey, musky base. The dry-down highlights the leathery aspects that take the place of the spicy and floral ones, combined with the majestic oud resin. Projection is still fairly strong at this point, but the fragrance has now settled into something smooth and well-rounded, a wonderful blend of wood, floral, and amber sweetness. You can sense the sweet and savoury aspects of amber and the woody aspects of musk, much more tending towards powder and less towards soapy. Perhaps even a whisper of vanilla may be pushing forth. The trail that remains is mostly composed of leather and oud, sensual and musky. There is no doubt that Sensual Oud is a perfume that captures the essence of forbidden desire, mysterious and deep. The spices provoke and tempt, the flowers and woods add a timeless charm, and the leather creates an intoxicating trail. It is a fragrance that requires cold weather to be appreciated, to be used in the evenings and nights of late autumn and mid-winter. A fragrance that feels good both in contact with the body and on clothes, scarves and coats. For an intimate dinner, or a crazy night. Perhaps the duration is not amazing, yet enough for an event, but the projection is intense in the first hours after the application. I'm basing my opinion on a bottle I've owned since February 2024 (BC 32220).

Only for Oud-Rose fans. Strong, long lasting, incredible sillage. Looking for something to get compliments? THIS IS NOT. The power combination of oud-leather-rose (a very faint rose BTW) is a personal pleasure, or something to put a wall around you and state authority, elegance, maturity, formality, SO you need to be very well dressed (suite or above). If you put this on you, and pretend to be clown of the party, or the "all-good-pleaser of the event", the perfume will give you a hard time, pushing others away from you (as is often the case, with this type of fragrances). I feel this more masculine for the powerful notes, but a woman who wants to denote leadership and maturity, AND loves Oud fragrances, can pull this off. To be used on formal occasions, and for people 40+ yo. Duration on clothes: days, on skin 10+ hours (6 sprays). This thing fills the room for about 30 mins so beware, this is one of the most powerful perfumes from Zara, hands down. PS: It was discontinued since the second half of 2024 until now, October 2025. So if you see a bottle available, and love this type of perfumes, grab it! I don't think it will lasts more than a few weeks more.

The first time I tried this - just one spray on the wrist - I found that I really liked it, but the name 'sensual' didn't seem to be something that I understood or found to be fitting for what I smelled. What I got was the cloves, a lot of pleasant spiciness. The second time that I tried it, really wearing it, I really have to say that the 'sensual' side of it kind of clicked with me for sure. It's definitely strong, definitely pleasant, unisex and it really does have that typical oud kind of dirtiness to me. I feel like all of the scents in this smell really realistic too, in the best possible way. Another thing to notice is that this lasts loooong. 14 hours after spraying, it's still there as a skin scent.

This is a middle eastern version of Oud Ispahan with extra spices added. Really warm, spicy and intoxicating. The saffron really stands out with traces of oud, leather and an earthy note from the patchouli. The opening is extremely strong and pungent to me, but I’m not hating it. You need max 2 3 sprays, because this projects really strong for 3 4 hours, then it blends into the skin and disappears after 8 10 hours, but even after that you get traces of it. On clothes it stays for days. Totally unisex. Might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but there’s also a 30 ml version.

Oud Ispahan with 1/10 price tag. Smells very very close to it. I can't tell the minor differences because its been 5-6 years since i used Ispahan but if there's any difference, it does not deserve the price you pay. Longevity is 14-15 hours (i still can detect easily on my skin and still projects a little bit. Sillage is enormous so spray it sparingly. Overall, a very good rosy, oudy, oriental fragrance for both men and women, suitable for cooler nights.

Such smooth, sweet oud leather scent for anyone into oud scents, it's absolute yes . Saffron scent is absolute delight to olfactory senses accompanied with clove and rose notes. For anyone isn't into oud leather, eastern style scents it may not be appealing at all , otherwise it's really another impressive oud scent with great longevity from Zara after Bohemian Oud and Hipster Oud releases .

More oud than rose. In fact, rose is there just for garnishing. The oud isn't as fecal as that in the og Oud Ispahan. I tried to compare it to Diptyque's Oud Palao, which bears similarities to Oud Ispahan. Oud Palao is loud and thick and...barnyard-ey while Sensual Oud seems like a demure little sister. Still, I love seeing Zara release unconventional scents like this.

I am a male and I think Universal Oud is a bit feminine (lots of sour rose). THIS however is straight up unisex, with a middle eastern opening (may be difficult for some) but settles down nicely. I might cap myself a full bottle when it's on sale. EDIT: Oddly enough, up close it's more masculine but leaves a more feminine sillage XD

This fragrance is a bit skanky (fecal), reminiscent of a barnyard animal in a field of flowers. A bold creation from Zara that I find absolutely captivating. I sometimes layer this with Ambilux by Marlou when I'm feeling a bit reckless.

This will remind you of oud ispahan. This thing is also VERY POWERFUL I usually spray 2-3 times because it’s so powerful. Some say it smells like church incense. Spicy floral, a bit powdery? Its good.

This was my introduction to oud, and for a while it was my signature scent (I even picked up two surplus bottles while Zara were clearing out in late-2025). However, since discovering ME brands, I rarely come back to this anymore. I've become so enamored by the ever-present rose note of Shaghaf Oud and Lattafa Opulent Oud that this just smells too animalic and lacking in sweetness in comparison. There's a hint of rose here, but it's very much in the background. It's certainly a statement to wear this, which is why I gravitated towards it as it was easily the strongest perfume I owned in 2024 and most of 2025, and it's received a fair few compliments. It just isn't 'me' anymore.

Definitely a clone of oud ispahan, got the same sweet, fruity, richness. This is different in that the oud is much stronger and on the stanky side. It's high quality and smells expensive but the heaviness of it might not appeal to everyone, I also think it leans masculine because of this, but realistically anyone could wear it. Strong projector and lasts a while, if you want a cheap, but expensive smelling middle Eastern scent this is a banger.

Strong strong oud with a background of rose and patchouli. Incredible strong and long lasting. I have to be in the mood for wearing it. Smells expensive however divisive: most people will not compliment you and will find it weird. For oud lovers I'd say it's a very sensual powerful scent that will definitely make you stand out in a crowd.

I like Oud Ispahan but not enough to need a full bottle of it. I just like to sniff it once in a while and wear it at home, so this Zara dupe is perfect. They smell super similar and it satisfies my need for a stinky oud rose. Great value for money.

This is a unisex and polish version of jacques bogart one man show oud edition. They are in the same family. L= 8-10h. P=3-4h, moderate. Good value for money.

a photographic smell of the inside of an orthodox christian church. smells like soft beeswax candles, thurible oil and heavy linens. i kinda love it.

Perhaps only the older patrons will understand this reference, but this reminds me of the Youth Dew/Cinnabar/Opium lot which were popular back in the late 70's - to mid 80's. Spicy clovey and STRONG! To me it doesn't smell as good as those old timers, plus there is the oud factor that this has that they did not, but I get the same "feel" with this. I feel bad for the person in the reviews that says it smells like poop. That's harsh. But I get the occasional "skanky" vibe that another person was referring to. My husband likes the scent. I would not blind by this though. It is too strong and defined for a blind buy.

Balsamic and rose-soapy with animalic sweetness. I get nothing stanky but it smells like strong amberwood/ambrocenide so not for me. Would've really enjoyed this if the synthetic oud aspect wasn't so overpowering and headache-inducing. The cloves are mild to me. Very strong longevity. Unisex.

While I do appreciate oud in fragrances, this is not a smooth oud. This is also not an airy saffron nor a smooth patchouli. I had to wash this off within the first 15 minutes as it started to give me a headache. This has a very mature, grandma-ish smell. This was a huge no for me.

Pleasant for the first 30 minutes or so. Then, for the next 4 hours, it smells like poop. Literally! I was walking around the shops and checked my sandals twice to see if i had accidentally stepped on dog poop. I hadn"t.. I had sprayed it ON me!!
