Teawood

I LOVE IT! And you will love it too if you're looking for a modern unisex tea scent. This is almost bitter and has an unexpected depth. The earthy-woody side is very prominent. For once Zara has issued a perfume with a great performance - sillage moderate and longevity around 8 hours!!! This has made my day the first time I wore it...and still does it everytime I wear it. Frankly, I don't give a damn about all the fuss it created in my office with people complaining that this perfume is hateful. I came to the conclusion that it's just because it's too good and it's mine - not theirs! I really hope my colleagues read this review and FEEL THE ENVY ;)

I think that this one is also very easy to wear by men's also. Reminds me a bit of Gucci Pour Homme 2, but is fruitier, sweeter and a lot more potent. I didn't had the chance to wear it that much because of the hot weather. There's a lot of men's fragrances that can be wear by woman's too, like Ambre Noble, Tone Indeterminee, Ganache Tonka or the much more hyped Rich Warm Addictive.

I'm here to give my honest opinion. I dislike this fragrance. The scent is sharp all the way through, which gave me a headache. The scent is unisex.

I have worn Teawood regularly for the last month or so, and as a result have become pretty familiar with its pros and cons. I would describe it as a pleasing, uncomplicated scent but not a particularly memorable fragrance. While I can't fault what is there, it feels a bit incomplete. If you told me that this was the "core" of a more elaborate fragrance endeavor like L'Artisan's "Tea for Two" or "Gucci Pour Homme II" before the contrasting hints of spice and smoke have been added, I would believe you. My nose is currently drawn to fragrances that offer more development, complexities, and surprises, so maybe it's just me. On the plus side, there is an evolution to "Teawood" that takes about 15 minutes to come into its own. It begins with a bergamot-y Earl Grey Tea and wood notes opening. This opening has facets which I think people associate more with masculine fragrances, but it is by no means overtly masculine. This opening is replaced in about 15 minutes by a lemon-y aspect, combined with a powdery and woody violet, and some other slightly sweeter notes (to contrast with the lemon) that I don't have the sophistication to call out or identify. There is also what reads to my nose as a "motor oil" facet to the woods which is perhaps the most interesting thing about the entire endeavor. This lends the scent a bit of edgy artistry. This evolving second stage really isn't readily apparent in the opening, so if you test "Teawood", don't go by the opening. Let it settle for about 15 minutes before making a call. I find this second stage to be far more satisfying than the opening and I would describe it as completely unisex. If you need your fragrance to reassure you via overt gender signaling, this one probably isn't for you. Also on the plus side, longevity is amazing, particularly when one considers the bargain basement price. I can smell it a full 7 hours after application, so if you love "Teawood", you are in luck: this is not a fragrance that pulls a "hit and run" the way so many far more expensive fragrances seem to do these days. Sillage is modest but does not retire into skin scent territory for several hours. I have used this as a daily fragrance applied post-shower after my trip to the gym and it has served me well when I want to smell pleasingly (but not particularly outstandingly) fragranced for errands, work, or daily activities. I doubt anyone will pull you aside to demand the name of your fragrance when you wear "Teawood". I doubt anyone will choose this for special occasions, but overall it is definitely a pleasant experience that gets the job done for a great price. As for the "smells like" line-up, I have "Elizabeth Arden Green Tea" and find absolutely no similarity. The EA is brighter, far more citrus-y, more complex, and has TERRIBLE longevity. If EA lasted longer, I would find it preferable to the more subdued, low contrast "Teawood", but the longevity of "Green Tea" is so non-existent as to make application a waste of time. I am not familiar enough with the other fragrances in the "smells like" category to make an assessment on those.
