Tobacco Collection Unexpected Fresh Spicy

I like to get to know colognes that receive controversial ratings, like this contended one for instance. You may see, some people rated it from 0 to 2 and some others from 8 to 10. That's life, in matters of taste, there can be no disputes. Unexpected Fresh Spicy comes approximately two years after the other two #Tobacco Collection's siblings, namely Intense Dark Exclusive and Rich Warm Addicted. Whiskey, tobacco, cinnamon, patchouli, sandalwood... Oh boy, this is impressive! A blast of goodness. It smells like bad intentions, bad decisions with a good time. Think rich fruit cake, delicious, served after dinner, this cologne is brimming with honey, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, and nutty flavors. It includes an artful painting that takes both of those distinctive notes and places thoughtful flourishes of booziness, spicy reinforcers, and a group of classic base note ingredients that come together into a smoky, warm, and sweet composite. Unexpected Fresh Spicy welcomes you with a blast of boozy liqueur. It opens including toasty notes from the oak and well-defined aromas of honeyed fruit and golden syrup. Rich, but still clean and precise, with an appealing nuttiness. this is a big-hitting bourbon sweetish tobacco, with broad brushstrokes of honey, cinnamon, countered by punchy, peppery notes, some numbing clove notes, and toasty oak. Right of the bat, the boozy accord present in the opening reminds me of Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Tennessee Whiskey. A blast of spices, mostly cinnamon, and a dash of honey soon join the fray and I have to say it's very nice, an apple pie type of vibe. The boozy note is very good within this composition and adds to the character of the scent. ZARA could have called this fragrance Unexpected Boozy Spicy as the freshness disappears not long after the opening and the wonderful whiskey note lingers on throughout the life of the scent. The heart beats around sweetish tobacco. I’ve never been enticed to smoke, but I adore the smell of tobacco. I like to smell unique, and I also love the aroma of tobacco and this one is different tobacco. This accord is less of mellow pipe tobacco though it retains the delectable almondy inflection of tonka. It's a bourbon sweet tobacco mixed with flowers, herbs, spices or fruits. Often when tobacco is a note in a fragrance it smells nothing like it, this does. Broad strokes, it just smells like a dude smoking a pipe. Up close, and broken down: it's got a boozy bourbon accord. The tobacco is audacious, with a round woody whiskey note in the background that amps up the tobacco without taking the lead, played out over soapy musks instead of the classic sweet vanilla. It goes on dusty, dark, boozy, there's a whiskey accord, and then dries down a bit spicy, woodsy. After an hour or two, the fragrance smells much more amber, a wood-shot amber. A touch of amber and vanilla keep the fragrance from being too sharp. It lasts half a day on me. It’s a thick fragrance, but it stays within a few feet of my skin. The longevity is good, and the projection is large. This is not a subtle fragrance. It wears well in colder weather, cause the warmer it gets, the spicier it gets actually. This seems somewhat uncomplicated. Despite being dusty, it's still a very safe scent. It is a really good smelling tobacco, the sweetish smell you get when you put your nose into a packet of Amphora Vintage Malt Whisky tobacco, it feels well done. I glad I got my bottle before the train gathers steam. A compliments getter.

I sometimes wonder if people have actually smelled the actual perfume or if they are just annoyed that a cheap perfume can be extremely good! So they do whatever they can to minimize, dismiss and demolish. That does not work most of the time thanks to people who are not ashamed to like and enjoy a perfume no matter how cheap it is. Anybody who has worn the other scents from the Tobacco Collection knows the price is deceptive and cannot be a basis for judgement. Rich Warm Addictive and Intense Dark Exclusive are great scents that last a decent 6/7 hours. This one (UFS) is also very nice, and as soon as I sprayed it at the shop, I loved it. Yes, there's some kind of boozyness in the opening. And it's nice for me although I don't like boozy notes that much. That is a big plus as far as I am concerned. Unexpected Fresh Spicy is not as sweet as RWA, and it is kind of slightly fruity, which maybe hints some freshness but the spicy vibes shine from the opening. It lasted more than six hours on my skin while developing to a much smokier drydown. Personally, I think it completes the Collection beautifully as it does not smell anyhting like the other two. Verdict: Try for yourself and don't rely on suspicious overly negative frontal attacks. Cheers all

This is the best release in the Tobacco Collection for my taste, and could perfectly be in Zara's top 3 fragrances ever released. Leaning more masculine, when I smelled it I was instantly reminded of Nasomatto's "Baraonda", by Alessandro Gualtieri. Opens with a boozy, whiskey, alcoholic smell that quickly turns into this gourmandish smell that evolves throughout its longevity to a more sophisticated smell, very similar but leaning more towards the cinnamon. Different enough to not call it linear. How much is this...? 12.95 euros? Yeah, a steal. This almost reaches designer's quality and could perfectly be priced four times more expensive. Longevity is fantastic. I sprayed it on my wrist at night, went to bed, and could smell it next morning without a problem. It is really important though that you enjoy boozy notes. If you don't, pass on this one. It is discontinued anyway. Don't go for eBay prices. One of the best features of this fragrance is its original price, and more often than not Zara gives new life to older fragrances by changing packaging but keeping the exact formulation, so that might as well happen with this one, since it was a hit. 8.25/10.

What a great fragrance from Zara! It's not a direct clone as many from the house. I get hints of spicebomb extreme, 1million prive, tf tobacco vanille and pure havane but nothing that is exactly the same or even close. The opening gives me a boozy, bubblegumy feeling which is my least favorite part, but after a few minutes goes very sweet, honey tobacco with cinnamon and some spices. The drydown is for me the best part of this fragrance, the sweetness goes down, the dry tobacco comes out with the sweetness of the honey, the cinnamon and for the first time I get sandalwood. The performance is also really good, 8+ hours longevity and projects really nice for the first two hours. It's weird to talk that much about a fragrance that costs 12,90euros but it's that good. It's not the high quality fragrance but if this was in another designer's bottle it would cost 4 times more. If you have the chance, try it!

Basically agree with K.K90 but not exactly Rasasi Sotoor Waaw, however, very very close. Have them both. If I were to catch any differences, Zara is more buttery, slightly smokier, a little bit darker in perception. Both can be used by men and women although only Rasasi is nominally unisex. Longevity of both is pretty good and regarding sillage, both can be worn in the office. If you like Dior Homme Intense, I recommend to try it. For me this is the same family, although an extended one :-) Overall 8.5/10.

Well this one is really nice.Is hard to describe a scent without compare it with other fragrances. I agree with the Spicebomb Extreme comparation. I don't think it try to be an exact clone though. Is more cinnamony, but I really like that. And is more versatile IMO. Also reminds me of the discontinued Dolcelisir, but this one is much more manly thanks to the tobacco note. Is perfect for a cold and wet fall day, is a nice treat that will put you in a nice mood. For the price I think is a bargain.

This to my nose is Spice Bomb mixed with Rich/Warm/Addictive. This is beautiful, just like R/W/A. Smooth blend, alluring winter sweet scent. They are way more notes than the ones listed here. I get vanilla, honey, some kind of smoke, tobacco, pepper, spices, aromatic notes. Gorgeous scent, I will buy this easily next time I go to Zara. If you like Spice Bomb Extreme and Zara R/W/A, you will love this too, for sure.

Very unusual, but very pleasant. Yes, there is that tobacco note somewhere. But this seems to have orange spices in it. Longevity and silage are OK and the silage is a lovely spicy fresh smell. Cost £12 for 100 ml - great value. This is unique in my collection too. A great man's scent with a distinctive character. Update - Yes I can smell the similarity with CK One Shock now - it's a little different though.

This is amazing. I do get the comparison with CK Shock, but this is way better blended. So don't buy CK Shock. This one is cheaper and smells way more expensive. It does remind me of PR Prive a lot. Not exactly the same if you compare them side by side. But if you wear this, people will certainly think its PR Prive. I do recommend this one. But this has to be a rotation scent. Don't wear it daily.

This is a fantastic smelling fragrance. One of Zara's best. It reminds me of a mix of Spicebomb Extreme and Herve Leger Homme. It's a sexy fragrance that is best suited for night time or fancy events and would be best suited in Fall and Winter. Overall it's a fantastic scent that actually has some power to it compared to many other Zara releases. Worth the price it is listed for.

Guys, come on. I own Waaw, I own Oajan and Unexpected Fresh Spicy, I have all of them on my hands right now. Waaw and UFS have nothing in common. Oajan and UFS are in the same olfactory genre, they give out the same feeling, but are not the same at all. UFS is a combination of Spicebomb and Rich Warm Addictive, a very good one.

At the opening I can smell slightly smoky whisky - I was surprised it was not listed in notes. Well belnded sweet woody slightly boozy winter scent. £12.99 in local Zara store in Edinburgh - a steal!

Update. This Zara is fantastic. A tobacco/whisky/fruity perfume with a good performance. It's unusual and fabulous value. I rate this very highly.

All the reviews so far are spot on

Got this one and once dried down to me the most noticeable aspect of it is the booziness. But it ends up at least on my skin like a cheap whiskey. (In comparison, Bentley Intense on me smells like a really very refined rum with incense, super fine.) Somehow the whiskey note in this Zara makes me think of a forgotten glass with dried down, not very fine but cheap, raunchy whiskey from a questionable bar. Not pleasant on my skin. Update three years later: retried this after reading that some even compare it to Angel's Share and the newer Zara Sand Desert at Sunset (by same perfumer of Angel's Share.) Not so similar, but I now like Unexpected Fresh Spicy on my skin! Talk about noses changing/evolving. Drydown smells good to me now, specially on my skin, in fact quite tobacco-ish (in contrast with Rich Warm Addictive, where I could get hardly ever any tobacco.) Moved it to "Ok" for a couple of days, but now moving it to "Like".

This really surprised me. It's very natural and realistic smelling. Like a light version of Tom Fords Tobacco Vanille. Seriously if you like that one, get this. It's very similar. Ridiculousy natural smelling at this price point. I have a decant of Tom Ford Tobacco vanille, and a bottle of Franck Boclet Tobacco (also very nice, but sweeter). Zara's version here is much closer to Tobacco Vanille. Longevity is weaker obviously, but you're good to go for at least 2 hours before it's a skin scent. Impressive,

If there is something that Zara does really well, that is tobaco. I didn't jump on the hype-train, and went for Rich, warm Addictive, but this one instead, and I have no regrets. And as always with Zara, the price is right. This is perhaps the best preformer of all my frags, with Warm Black also from Zara as a close second. I get booze, tobaco and cinnamon. I really dont get any citrusnotes from this, but then again, I would never wear this one in the summer

This one like Rich Warm Addictive suffers from the issue that not everyone can smell it. I smell this persistently and it is obviously a copy of some higher end jus. It's a smoky whiskey tobacco affair, light and spicy. Not as yummy and thick as I would have loved it to be but still a solid winter fragrance. You'll have to spray a lot though as it is consistent with ZARA scents.

I finally found a full bottle of this and i don't know if the juice has gone bad or what but the first 30 minutes of this are horrible in my opinion, a stinky cinnamon basically. After the first 30 minutes it starts to smell better and it becomes similar to Armaf Radical Brown without that cherry vibe. In conclusion, it's good but unfortunately not as good as i thought. 7/10

This was a definite step up for Zara. It smells like something that would come from Azzaro for sure. Spicy and woody that packs a light punch. Perfect for just about anything. Lasts a decent amount of time but of course discontinued. Maybe it's under a new name as Zara does that often. 1 is up for sale on Ebay for $100 US if anyone is desperate to own it.

This is everything CK One Shock wanted to be. Last longer, has a much better complexity, and a richness that makes you want to reach for it over, and over. The freshness wears off quick, however you're still left with quality. Thanks, Ash!

This is cinnamon overdosed 1 million prive/ CK shock sweet tobacco vibe in the initial few minutes. I will update about the drydown after few hours.

Reminds me of Ambre Naguile. Cheaper and more synthetic (less well blended), but still very good considering the almost in-existent price.

Clearly inspired by ambre Narguile . So , a very sweet honey is what dominates here ; it could cloy a lot if it weren't because it doesn't have a hammer-like texture . Lasting wise is quite respectable though . As in most perfumes the nuances and all of that are elusives , it requires a bit of imagination there isn't much roundness and depth usually , even less here being a 15 € perfume . So , calling quietly to the fancy I could say this very sweet honey dessert includes some cinnamon , a fruity touch of apple and a slighty soaking in liquor . Moreover , let's accept there is a tobacco box some meters beyond . As I think it happens in others Zara perfumes from this collection , I can notice a little fresh blast ( synthetic apple ? ) which confers variation to the main theme and plus that mass-perfume appeal which will be recognisable . This doesn't rank bad at all considering the price , the ones expecting Tobacco Vanille performance or let's say a kind of naturalness from Ambre Narguile or Derviche ... they better off keep waiting . Neither I'd recommend it to those who have aforemention perfumes as their minimun standard , regardless of price . I want all this stay clear because many people get hype , try perfumes and then they ended up dissapointed for not finding cheapies that can replace their niches . I am praising a 15 € perfume , don't forget it please .

This is my 32nd bottle from Zara to add to my collection. I own all 3 of the Tobacco collection and I have to say this is my least favourite of the 3. Let me clear here, this stuff smells amazing, the smell isn’t the problem. Because I care about our fragrance community I feel the need to save every one of you some of your are earned dollars as the performance is shit. Also, this isn’t spicebomb in any way shape or form, anyone looking for spicebomb here will be sorely disappointed. If only this lasted more than 1 to 2 hours this stuff would be my preferred scent out of the 3. The main stars in this one is cinnamon and Iris, everything else in this gets drowned out by those two. Sure you can pick up the whiskey and tobacco, but it’s so faint that it’s a disappointment. Lastly, I actually feel bad for the developer of this scent Marine Ipert. They’re obviously put limits and handcuffs on him in regards to the amount of concentration this edt is.In my opinion this was a lost opportunity here for this to not only be good, but great. 6/10

I immediately purchased this item even though it is not on sale. (Zara just recently held a end of season sale) where in I purchased Deep Blue Sea at a sale price, but not this baby. I blind buy based on reviews that this smells like Spicebomb which I loved profusely. Sadly, to my nose, it ain't. There maybe traces of it, but I kept on sensing that I smelled this before. It is familiar to me. Then, it dawned on me that it smells like my CK One Shock. I compared the smell of the two and whaddya know? My nose came in agreement that both are similar. The scent itself? Still devine. I loved everything tobacco, yet not close to being Spicebomb to me.

I got this for 5€ and it's the best deal I could ever get. This one and Warm Black are the only 2 perfumes worthy to buy. I tried maybe 20 of the Zara for men. These 2 have quality and thought behind them, as well as performance. Unexpected Fresh Spicy has lots of Benzoin/Honey, Vanilla, Tobacco, Whiskey. Just like Warm Black it's pretty linear and has very decent performance. UFS is way better than CK Shock and Paco... as a scent and as a price. This is no Spicebomb and neither is Warm Black. Who even voted that it's similar to Baraonda? Nothing in common. Edit: It reminds me a little bit of Bentley for Men EDT.

This is exactly what Rentless by Lush should have been! Extremely similar, only less complicated and without all the messy notes. Spicy-sweet and dark. At first sniff I was very tempted to buy for myself but eventually it turned a bit sickly. I do like a sweet fragrance, especially on a man, but this became too much on my skin, cloying even with all the spice. However, I still think it's a well made scent and a great addition to this line.

After looking at the notes, I decided to try the entire Zara Tobacco Collection. Unexpected Fresh Spicy reminds me of a sweet mulled vanilla bourbon from sweet smoked barrels. The tobacco note is sweet and present, but not a harsh smelling cigar. Zara's UFS has a bit of an cinnamon incense vibe to bit. Definitely a boozy, honey sweet, spicy, cozy & vanilla delectable scent that is unique. Winter, fall appropriate.

For me it is a mixture between pure Havane and CK Shock. Its very appealing and well done but for my taste nothing special.Just a decent tobacco/honey/cinnemon scent. I don't know why but I also get an orange muscle relaxation bath additive which I have used the past. I would only use it in the cold season, especially around Christmas. Overall an 7/10 for me.

Bought for 9,99€. Amazing quality for that price and pretty good sillage for a Zara fragrance. Glad Zara is finnaly making good blended fragrances with decent/good performances. The opening is cinnamon and whiskey and then settles with a sweet tobacco. Cinnamon is present during the whole time but more strong in the first minutes.

A really well made frag. If you take that honey RWA DNA and mix it with Spicebomb, you get this. It is not a clone. It is it's cousin. A similar smelling, but not the same. Same vibe, but not the same class. That being said, this lasts a lot. 8 hours easily and it's smoother than the previews two, less sweet but strong.

I sprayed this once on my hand and it opens harsh and cheap supermarket style. The drydown seems to be better but it's almost non existent at 1 hour mark. Make an effort and save for Spicebomb extreme as that is a masterpiece and this, it is what it is.

To my nose on drydown it is very reminiscent of la nuit de lhomme plus cinnamon. Nice one indeed. Would be nicer in the double pack instead of dark intense tobacco with rich warm addictive
