BUDDHA-WOOD

I was quite curious about this one as I own some Buddha wood oil from my explorations in perfume making. The oil is distilled from Eremophila mitchellii, the Buddha wood tree, which is also known as false sandalwood. However, it doesn't merely smell like sandalwood oil, it does have its own character: reminiscent of oakwood, parched and somewhat smoky, with a certain sweet leatheriness to its core. It turns out, Buddha-Wood smells so much like the oil that I am convinced that Pavlov used a hefty percentage of it here, and I approve of it. There is a whiskey-like quality to its top notes which is so satisfying, saturating my senses with a sweet burn of liqueur until it settles within minutes to reach a dark-berry-stained woodiness baked by the sun and a grounding and deep rosewood into its dry down. It's a tasty woody scent.

I bought this recently, needing something a bit different from my usual style. It's really quite beautiful, one of the best I've smelt in a long time. Can you tell how impressed I am? :) To me, it's a sweet wood scent. I don't get anything citrusy from it, but I can understand the slight fruity nuance. I didn't expect something so simple in the notes to be this lovely and versatile. The longevity is definitely the best out of my whole collection and I can still get little hints 2 or 3 days later, on my clothes. It's not a beast sillage, or in any way offensive, but you can definitely smell it. I just love it!

I don't get anything green from this, but instead I do get a hefty dose of strawberry incense and I cannot get enough of it!

A similar review to the other Zarkoperfume that I tried. I got a sample from a friend and she told me these fragrances interact with your skin, so the scent differs from a person to the other. I smelled all the discovery set, they are all nice, unisex or rather feminine. This one is the most unisex of the lot. It lasts long but remains very soft from the beginning to the end. Light woody scent. There is something "watery" about the scents I tried. In this one I don't like this wateriness. You know these oily sticky perfumes that last forever on your skin, this is the opposite. Maybe in summer I would have had a better performance projection and sillage wise, I just couldn't be bothered so I sprayed this at home until I finished it. Now going to layer the last bit with something stronger.

Maybe it's because this is my first experience with buddha wood, but for me the scent does not bring any wood to mind at all. The opening smells not like wine, but wine-adjacent. Like a drink but made of old raisins. I guess it's a bit boozy, but without alcohol. Then it turns into what I can only describe as strawberry vinyl. And on me this lasts for 12 hours. Although it sits fairly close to the skin. I feel like I smell like a doll. Overall a strange experience, but I keep coming back to it, sniffing myself in secret at work.
