MOLéCULE No. 8

I have to admit, I was on the fence about Molecule 8 when I first sprayed it. The initial blast gave me serious Versace Eau Fraiche vibes—not a bad comparison, but a bit linear for my taste. However, the opening here is unmistakably citrusy, with that vibrant burst of mandarin leading the charge. But here’s where the magic happens: about 20-30 minutes in, once the mandarin starts to mellow, the real beauty of this scent reveals itself. It transitions into this mesmerizing musky, woody, slightly sweet yet fresh base—I'm guessing from the Oud, Rose, and Patchouli blend. It’s hard to describe, but it’s absolutely captivating. Longevity is no joke either—I'm getting a solid 8 hours without reapplying. It becomes more of an intimate scent as the mandarin fades, and I keep catching myself decanting and spraying my hand just to experience that dry-down again. I’m so glad I gave it a chance and didn’t dismiss it as just another “freshie.” I’m genuinely excited about Zarkoperfume’s lineup. Molecule 234.38 is another favorite—it’s like a lighter, muskier take on Molecule 01. And The Muse? A beautifully clean fragrance, though it can get a bit cloying if over-applied. I can't wait to see how they perform in the summer. I have a feeling M234.38 will really come alive, and The Muse might be a one-spray powerhouse. I’ve also ordered Oud'ish, Inception, and Ménage à Trois—curious to see if they’ll be just as impressive. We’ll find out soon enough!

MOLéCULE No. 8 doesn't get much love in the reviews here on Fragrantica. I happen to think it's amazing! I initially dismissed it as too woody and masculine so it was left unused in my tester set. I was surprised that this turned out to be my favorite of the 6 scents I've tried from Zarkoperfumes (most of them do not work for me at all). It's a hard one to describe. It's a bit elusive, so I am not yet sure how strong it is. I suspect it might be more noticable to others than the wearer think (like many zarko scents). To me it's sweet, woody and slightly musky. It's like a soft cloud of a scent that I pick up beautiful wafts of. Most perfumes are there constantly and eventually bother me, but this comes and goes - a bit of a unicorn. It does seem to turn a bit more masculine and wood-dominant as it dries down. I love the opening and the heart of it the most, but the whole scent is gorgeous and the only zarko perfume that I want a big bottle of!

The name couldn’t be better - it smells exactly like wooden chips. It reminds me of the smell of freshly cut wood or when you chop pieces of wood for the chimenea. It is warm, cosy and kind of calming. Unfortunately the sillage is very poor, but I find it great for layering with other autumn / winter fragrances.

This is my new signature. I wear it everyday to the office. It is absolutely unique without being loud or offensive to myself and others around me. It is not shower or laundry-fresh, but a kind of natural, outdoor air, woodsy & rose-fresh that leaves you wanting to sniff it for hours.

No rose at all - this is perfectly woody and citrusy (leans masculine) and very unique and fresh. I do wish it lasted longer, but it is still one of my fav fragrances at the moment.

Great fragrance. I do not get any rose or oud thankfully!

I grew up close to Denmark (Northern Germany) and I love the Nordic culture/mindset/landscape - everything. I was so intrigued when I tried Wooden Chips and the Pink Molecule (which does not suit me at all..). I LOVE this perfume so much it is so fresh without being weirdly too citrus-y. The kind sales associate called it a "sexy forest" scent and I second that. I would add: mysterious, sexy Nordic forest. Longevity on my dry dry skin (which usually eats perfume quickly..): 5h MAX but usually 3-4h. Not soo good but it is a rather soft scent which I can easily wear to the office without people suffocating. I also love it for the evening because of the mysterious woody undertones of this perfume. Develops beautifully and leaves a soft muskiness scent mixed with green-special elements. Sillage: pretty low. I usually do not spray too much with other perfumes at once but I literally shower myself in this. I like to reapply every now and then with this perfume. It refreshes my mind every time and calms me at night. Not a party, evening scent (except you wish for an extra calming scent), except you are somewhere tropical and hot.

It smells mysterious, like a dream or fairy tale...I am walking in a foggy pine forest and just when the wind changes direction I can smell the trees crying pine wax. I love it but leans masculine, and I know my boyfriend would not like it on me but wear himself. For those who complain about the sillage...These molecule fragrances are very much dependent on your own chemistry. On paper they are basically non existent, it has to touch your skin to elaborate. try to hidrate more from the inside and use strong nutritious, preferably unperfumed body lotion. That would help And the beauty of most of the perfumes in general is not that I am projecting my smell to the world continuously and unwanted... think about it as your soul. You are not walking around throwing your deepest feelings on strangers, but just let them catch a hint of your personality when passing by or when you are queueing for a coffee...that arises their attention so they feel honored to get closer to you and get to know the whole picture.

Woody, neutral, fresh, unisex, but can get a bit sweet/fruity. I was surprised at first when I saw it had a mandarin note - to me, it was always a perfume I couldn't really put my finger on beyond the woody notes. It's definitely abstract, and a daytime fragrance for sure. Has good lasting power; around 6+ hours later, people could vaguely smell it on me. It smells better on clothes than on skin - on clothes, it retains its fresh woodiness. On skin, it gets sweeter with time (I assume this is the other notes coming through) and unfortunately loses its appeal a bit.

I tried this at the store, and had to buy it. Really love the smell. its soft scent. that smell warm. A cosy scent for sure. I got at 50% off. And at 100ml. it's a really good price I think. Sadly, others can't smell it. only you sleep together. It's a good scent for Autists or people with sensitive nose I think. I love too wear just before bed also. I really get relaxed by this smell. Its like my body says "everything is gonna be Ok" just wish it would last longer then 2-3 hours.

smells like ripping the first bit of Scotch packing tape off the roll, then bathroom disinfectant, then holding an old woman's hand

This is funny one and not least because of the instant reminders of Escentric molecules and the minimal/Lazy perfume design of the ultra modern era. I'm not a lover of the vague woodiness of some of these fragrances but not apposed to the use of these techniques or molecules either, I'm just yet to find one that really speaks to me. This has an air of Iso E super about it just in approach perhaps? I mean it's distinctly different , a hard to pigeonhole opening of citrus, then some indiscriminate woods one could describe as cedar but there's a warmth and a bit of muskiness too. It did get a little woodier as it dried down becoming more worthy of the 'Wooden Chips' name and increasingly like a subtle sandlewood but decidedly less spicy. I can't say I get an earthy, patch or oud vibe from this just a weakly disappointing and suspicious skin scent. I'm often worried about being very strong to others and I can barely detect. Don't get me wrong I like my perfumery arty, avant garde and interesting but without tipping over into pretentiousness and Zarkoperfume Molecule No.8 is something that maybe does do that. I don't want nondescript, committee made scents from trendy Scandinavian houses just for the sake of it. I want pieces of art, compositions that are slaved over by perfumers who treat their 'baby' with all the due care and attention they deserve. I'm just not that taken by No.8 and having tried the whole line, this isn't the worst or the best. Blandness seems to be a theme of Zarko...shame really.

This is a pleasant slightly feminine skin scent with zero sillage after only 10-15 minutes. It doesn't projects. It is nice scent but nobody will be able to smell it except if they rub their nose on your skin. Not even yourself can smell it without sticking your nose on your skin. I've tried it, I've asked some friends if they can smell anything and the answer was negative. Even a female friend with very strong nose, she couldn't smell it. Verdict. This scent has no reasons of existance. I like it, very safe and versatile, but it feels like you don't wear scent. Save your money and buy a decent scent.

This has all the components of my ideal fragrance.. too bad it lasts a minute tops on my skin.

An absolute nothing, does not smell anything. A skin scent that does not deserve a purchase.

vacillating between neutral and negative on my skin. the wood chips come off initially as "sharp" or maybe even somewhat "sour." when that burns off, not much is left except a vaguely pleasant new pencil whiff. therefore, the question is when and why does one wear it. all kinds of people in the world and all kinds of perfume lovers (and even some perfume haters.) i have my share of "works of art" perfumes. most of which i am still trying to wrap my head/nose around. i see the connection some make to scandavian design. the fragrance is spare, mostly hard and cold. and yet there is the tiniest bit of sweet comfort hidden in the snow white environment. the effect is that of a new wooden piece, maybe a bowl, before it is used. the joy of it is subtlety probably overlooked by those more accustomed to exotic luxury. i will continue to use it on occasion because it is not "bad." but for me more an early chilly morning where a bit of discomfort provides a frisson. _____________________________________________ august 2022 the bottle has been sitting in the bathroom as an air freshener. sometimes, i want to be a little bit annoyed and this does it for me.

Very interesting! When first applied it is a bit stingy but when that wears of it's amazing. Woody but fruity and the oud blends in and goes through at the same time. Lovely! But, It does smell a lot so maybe not for every occasion. As for sillage, I never rate that cause I think the less the better. I find it extremely awful when people leave a trail of perfume wherever they go. Better to sense it when really close, which unfortunately, during covid means next to no one gets to smell it... 😂

Brought it a few years back. Dismissed it as a scent for me and therefore sold it. Last Saturday I went around my local danish version of Boots thinking what was it that made me turn my back to it in the first place? Conclusion: stupidity! It’s gorgeous! How can I not have realized in the first place. I still wonder..

Its there - makes other people like you. Because its richness of wood comes and goes So nice and well done - Scandinavian design in a bottle ............ Love it

This smells like danish Sun Lolly fruity ice :(
