Aged Pu-Er Tea 夜访普洱

Nobody does tea fragrances like Chinese brands, and Aged Puerh Tea by Zhufu is truly on another level. It’s earthy, damp, and a little smoky. You can almost feel the warmth of the wooden cabin from Zhufu’s story (the way brand depicts it) - the steam, the tobacco, the quiet solitude of creation. Zhufu's DNA is quite obvious once you get a chance to smell the collection - another one that I have, Nana, is supposed to be fruity floral, but to me it smells like aged jam with powdery undertones, as if someone has left it on the shelf for ages, only to be discovered in the midst of rainy day. It’s a very vetivery, woody, damp, atmospheric fragrance, without too much decoration of other notes that would make it poetic, fresh, or wearable in the conventional sense. Its complexity comes from its authenticity, and this might not be for everyone. Comparing it to let's say already known tea perfumes, what makes it different is that this is not a fresh scent, it is rather dark, moody, petrichory one. And that makes it unique and unapologetically itself.

No way I can write anything more perfect than what follow fragrantican jeleneva below wrote, so check it out. Basically, this is a beautiful aromatic. Super fresh and airy in the opening with tea notes and then dries down into a damp vetiver with smoky overtones. I feel like this is a journey that begins with a walk through the Yunnan tea gardens and then it starts raining and you go inside to shelter and enjoy a nice, warm cup of a quality shou pu'erh tea. Fantastic stuff.

ABSOLUTELY STUNNING! Soft, comforting, uplifting tea with the faintest whisper of a toasty note, floating over a lotus pond at dawn. Four hours later, it’s still going strong, but the watery notes have evaporated.

This surprised me. It leans masculine, but in a dry aromatic way — not smoky, not fermented, not humid. It’s clean, structured tea leaf with mineral bitterness. Very aromatic. Surprisingly wearable and nothing like One Day Pu’er Tea, which I didn’t like.

Very similar to Void by To Summer but way less soapy and no floral, which is a plus for me. It is also a bit airier and less 'dense'. Take that for what you will. I enjoy this, I'd need to give it a few more rounds
