Amber Is Great

THE IRONIC FRAGRANCE (short review) "Amber is Great" is produced by Afnan, a quality Middle Eastern perfume manufacturer with similar ingenuity and market orientation to Lattafa, but with fewer releases than its competitor. Afnan has at least two subsidiaries: "Rue Broca" and "Zimaya", both present in different markets. Most of the group's perfumes are clones of Western perfumes. Only a few of its products are the result of its own creativity and are marketed as such. However, one must acknowledge the ingenuity and quality of many of the copies they have released. "Amber Is Great" claims to be a clone of XerJoff's "Erba Pura" but adds a touch of warm amber and wood that is not present in the inspirational fragrance. In my opinion, the result is a more unisex and wearable scent. The starting point for this creation may have been the more expensive 'Souvenir Desert Rose' by Afnan Perfumes, also a clone of Erba Pura, which the Afnan brand still promotes directly in the market. So why did I buy this Zimaya perfume? Three simple reasons, namely: 1 - Pure curiosity, 2 - The fact that the notes are different from the Afnan and Xerjoff fragrances I mentioned, and... 3 - The bottle cost me €15, a small price to pay for the satisfaction of my snoopiness. "Amber Is Great has a deliciously fruity and woody sweetness throughout. It also has a slight saffron astringency on the nose and a fresh citrusy spark of lemon. I detect a slightly synthetic aura in the opening and heart of the development, but it is perfectly acceptable for what might be considered normal in a fruity aroma. In this case, it might be due to the pungency of the citrus peel notes. However, the end result is pleasant and consistent for the fresh fruity scent that any frivolous young lady would like to wear in the summer. This fruity-sweet scent reveals an pale ambery base, but not enough to justify the name given to it. "Fruit is Great" seems more appropriate, but probably less in line with the guidelines of Afnan's marketing department (if there is one). The decoration of the bottle is similar to that of the Initio bottles (I wonder why?). The result is a strange combination of bottle and perfume. It is as if this perfume reflects some of the ways in which the industry is going. The perfume is sold under two different brand names and the real manufacturer is a third entity. It takes its olfactory inspiration from a supposedly fourth Western brand, but the bottle design is influenced by a fifth entity. Finally, the name of the perfume claims an almost irrelevant olfactory accord in the perfume. It's a bit ironic. I feel like writing a bumper sticker and calling the perfume 'Fruit Salad Is Great'. I tried to find a credible source for the list of notes. I found several different ones and finally settled on the one that seemed most plausible: - Top Notes: Sweet woods, saffron and citrus. - Heart Notes: Amber, fruity notes, orange peel, and lemon peel. - Base Notes: Fresh spices, ambergris, oak moss, and sweet woods. MY OPINION: Lovers of fruity and sweet scents will definitely enjoy this fragrance. The amber and woody twist will increase the number of people who will enjoy using it. The bottle is well-designed and sturdy, but a little showy, with the no-nonsense decoration copied from Initio. The finish of the bottle reflects the low price of the fragrance. However, the cardboard box is of a certain quality. Nevertheless, the purchase was a good deal, as the price I paid was just €15, a bargain for a nice clone with a pleasant twist. I usually don’t like comparing fragrances, especially when it’s about a product and its “dupe.” I prefer judging a scent on its own merits. But this time, I’m making an exception, because Zimaya is literally a sub-brand of Afnan, and the resemblance here is too strong to ignore. So, the first time I sprayed this, my mom immediately said, "this smells like your usual perfume." And yes. It was. The opening was no doubt smelt like my number one favorite and also signature scent, Afnan Supremacy Purple Pour Femme. The difference is in the dry down. Amber is Great feels lighter, sweeter, and brighter, while Afnan Supremacy Purple leans darker, more mysterious, and has a slightly bitter edge. The animalic and musk notes are also less prominent here, making Amber is Great a softer, friendlier and more approachable little sister to Supremacy Purple. So yeah... I can say this is basically the less strong, less bold version or toned down version of Afnan Supremacy Purple. Overall I love this scent profile, even though this lacks the dark, sexy and mysterious vibe that Afnan Supremacy Purple has. But anything in the scent family of Tiziana Terenzi Kirkè, Xerjoff Erba Pura, or Supremacy Purple is an automatic win for me. But if I had to choose, my loyalty stays with Afnan Supremacy Purple.

its reminds me a vibe of an old/ancient scientist with forbidden (in a good way) knowledge written in yellow paper in sand desert western kind of vibes for me on the first spray smells too harsh and too syntethic which i dont like and it comes down to a very warm sweet ambery scent and a very great smooth scent which i very love through this day and its really seductive and addicting makes me smell my hand over and over if u like ambery sweet fragrance i would really love to reccomend this one but note that for me the first note is so harsh literaly trash but the drydown is so powerfully a magic addicting smell my friend who enjoys freshies like ysl ect dont like this much i do so i think its a preference but if u ask me how good this is, i could yap like for a hours lol, tottaly love this even tho the first note was trash (3rd time saying it lmao), thankyou somuch zimaya for this great fragrance omfg i love it somuch fakkk, hope it doesnt have a downside lol

Very enjoyable Erba Pura inspiration without musk! I'll soon be on my second bottle and am happy that I found this gem!

Yes, it is Erba Pura based- but it is sweeter, woodier. Perfect for all occasions- it is fresh and clean 💚

idk it its a dupe or else, but this is a very underrated parfum, i would recommand for a low budget

I bought "Musk is great" recently and gifted it after about 2 and the half hours. yeah. it made no sense to buy this after such bad experience, but I'm glad I did. it's everything I hoped "Musk..." would be. they got the colors wrong. this one is light, gentle, fresh and sensual, equally suitable to both women and men, equally suitable to both western and eastern noses. the white one I found to be agressive and simply too heavy for what I thought it would be a summer scent + the worst part, it wasn't unisex at all. "Amber..." on the other hand is such an easy blind buy, and although It doesn't perform as the "Musk...", it's worth every cent. the box and the bottle are amazing as well, easily the best in my collection. who knows, maybe I'll buy the black one after this.

I am obsessed with amber and spicy notes. I thought this blind buy would be a hit for me; unfortunately, it is not even close to the name it stands for and the main accords listed in fragrantica. It smells very fruity (Sangria like) and very Erba Pura. If you do not own perfumes in the same scent profile such as: Erba Pura by Xerjoff, I Am White by Lattafa, Confidential by Lattafa (has a Champaign note for me), this would be a grab perfume for you. However, if you have those, you might get it for a bottle design to add to your collection. Bottom line: Very lovely, fresh and nice perfume. Would definitely recommend it, but only, if you do not have anything similar to Erba Pura, unless you need all versions of this beautiful scent ;)

Another blind buy 🙈 I believe this one needs to sit for a while, because from the nozzle it's very synthetic, slightly sharp and an ambroxan mess. However, when you spray, it's light, fresh, skittles like. It's unisex but I'll stick to Kirke which I feel is more feminine than this. Definitely not a dupe for Kirké , they are a bit similar but ultimately different. I like how this smells on the skin and clothes after 10 seconds of spraying, very light and fresh, perfect for summer and spring. This reminds me of 1M

At first, the fragrance gives off a fruity scent similar to that of Erba Pura and Kirke, though it is lighter and more delicate. Eventually, it transforms into a sweet aroma that is distinct from the perfumes mentioned before, with notes of caramel and sugar. It is less feminine compared to Erba Pura and Kirke, making it a versatile unisex fragrance.

I love the scent but its too arabic fot me, its good tho, on the opening is sweet and fresh from the citrus, and on the dry down smeels so woody, lemony and ambery, maybe good for some peopele but not good enough for me, the longevity us so good tho its sticks to the shirt for maybe 2 or 2.5 days after i macerate it solid 7.5/10

I like this surprisingly much. This has just the right amount of depth for my everyday use. The fruitiness is not overpowering, It doesn't get stuffy and the clean musk makes this even airy. However, you shouldn't let yourself be fooled. This is a strong fragrance.

To my nose this is unisex leaning masculine. I let it go because I get the same vibe with Kirké and Symphonie d'Amour by Maïssa, I already had those in my collection, my husband thinks it's too sweet and slightly feminine for his liking 🙄 but he likes Musk is Great

This stuff lasts over 24 hours on my skin with just one spray, a lovely sweet smell that may be too much for some. I don't get any other notes than sweet, although I may need to let it macerate more.

This is how I imagine gold would smell if it had a scent—like shimmery honey oozing on a warm summer day. Either that... or a rich housewife from the '90s. 😄 Either way—it’s a vibe.

Btw. Nose bomb with the ambergris. It settles. Best news: you don't go nose blind! Again. DONT over spray. 1 to 2 shots. Trust me

This is very nice. Sweet, caramel woods and fruits. Low price and a good performing fragrance. High quality bottle.
