Luxor

I already adore this one, and I’m not a big fan of rose scents in general. I was surprised to love it as much as I do, right out of the box. Usually rose fragrances start off too strongly for me and I have to let them sit for a few weeks and mature. But not Luxor — she’s gorgeous! I’ve never smelled the three or four leading fragrances that are in the “this reminds me of” category above, so won’t be able to compare to those. That said, here’s my impression after being a perfume fanatic for multiple decades. The rose here is understated, kind of faintly jammy, and volleys back and forth with the brightness of bergamot like they are singing a duet. The musk/ amber/ patchouli notes carry the harmonies and the bass line. All in all Luxor is stunning right out of the box, the kind of scent that lingers and trails but does not shout. She doesn’t announce herself upon entering a room, but after she leaves you will remember she was there. She’s soft, bright but not too acidic, and gives off hints of spring roses if you lean in for a nuzzle. The patchouli is the very best kind — softly blended to enhance the melody without competing for a solo. What the rose note here does remind me of, just a tiny little bit, is the rose note in Philosophy’s Ballet Rose. Just a hint in that same direction, but not entirely. Overall impression: Luxor is an instant keeper, fresh and bright and full of life, cheeks flushed pink, glowing in the sunshine. Think rose petals floating on top of a punch bowl of lemonade, at a backyard party. Little kids are running around playing while shrieking and laughing, and all the adults are enjoying some relaxed conversation with other adults on the first really fabulous warm late spring afternoon. (If you can’t identify with that parental vibe, substitute a picnic in the park with all your friends on a long weekend when you aren’t in a rush to get anywhere, music is playing and everyone is hanging around for the entire day.) I just got Luxor today, so will try to report back after my bottle has a chance to oxidize a bit and mature. (If I don’t use it all up before then! No promises on that one)

Very pleasant everyday parfum. Clean, musky rose, not oriental (thanks to God there is no oud in it).

Dupe for Bottega Veneta. Lasts forever also after shower.

I think it smells like acetone with weak rose scent.

Quite a pleasant scent of rosejam and patchouli. I can't find anything else to say.
