Corduroy

Very surprised with this one. I did not expect much for the $14 (2.5oz) I paid online. But the moment I did 2 spays on the chest I was like "this does not smell like a $14 cologne... it's so much better." Best of all it's a unique smell with a nice blend of nutmeg and cinnamon making it an ideal fragrance for this time of year - autumn in New England. Kind of reminds me of when I visit my parents on the weekend and mom always has something baking. Despite its notes, I don't see this as a gourmand because there is something kind of soapy, at least on my skind, maybe it's the lavender. Corduroy will go perfect with my classic Levi's denim jacket and a flannel shirt, and a pair of my worn out, comfortable jeans I like to wear on the weekends. I don't think it's a safe scent because it does get some hate here for some reason. Nor is it much of a work scent or date scent... there are much better and safer options. But for a lazy weekend or just chillin' with friends, it's perfect fragrance that WILL get noticed (good or bad). All in all, it's cheap (price wise) and it really is a unique scent. Therefore, if you're a collector, it's a no brainer for your collection. Lastly, the performance is much better than expected for the price. Thus, I can see this as an autumn signature scent for the right guy. Despite the heavy nutmeg and cinnamon it is indeed masculine, and far from unisex to my nose. There is something very masculine about the composition according to my wife and her female friend. After all the ladies have a better nose than most of us guys.

Very well blended gourmand fragrance with all it's spicy elements working well together. Nothing synthetic or alcoholic smelling here, even on first spray. Nutmeg, cinnamon and sandalwood are the most prominent notes here but are not harsh or overbearing as sometimes they are in other fragrances. Think light dutch spiced cookie soap. Delicious but you want to bath in it! 6.5/10 fragrance 5/10 sillage 4/10 Longevity Took points off for sillage and longevity. Also because I could not smell any of the citrus notes which is a shame because if they were as prominent as the spices it would be a bomb of a fragrance. So the obvious thing for me to do was to layer this with a citrus but I found it hard to find one that didn't create a utter mess. Then found the only one that did it justice. Marc Ecko UNLTD The Exhibit. Wow! What a combo! Even more of a gourmand, you just want to eat it! The Exhibit's pure orange skin scent is perfect for Corduroy's spices. They blend effortlessly together to make a knockout fragrance that everyone who smells it has complemented me on and that is no joke. Also combined they last between 4 to 6 hours which neither can do on their own. 9/10 for the combo.

I see y'all are voting with the 'like' button on this one and I thought, 'Hey...where is the love??'. This stuff is great! I guess I'm a sucker for nutmeg, muted though it is here, and cinnamon and tonka bean. Mmmm...tonka bean. To be honest, I wouldn't know what a tonka bean was if it bit me on the ass, but I have learnt to identify a warm vanillic tobacco smell in many of my favourite masculines. I love what Inselaffe says about the 'hollow accord'. This stuff is a bit weird...like maybe it has something missing? Or maybe it doesn't quite know what it wants to to be? 'I'm fresh...no I'm warm...wait, I'm fresh...oh I dunno.' For the price though you can't go wrong with Corduroy. Going cheap in a discount store near you now!

I really like this. It's subtle, reassuring, clean, slightly woody and slightly powdery. It has some sweetness and almost smells a little floral at points but stays masculine with the sandalwood and subtle spices. Stays quite close to the skin - at times I thought it had disappeared - but it gently projects for 5+ hours and lasts beyond 7 hours. Lovely stuff. Great for the price and an excellent everyday casual or office type fragrance. Persistent but never overpowering.

This smell is so alluring and mellow on my husband. It evoked the same reaction I felt when I first smelled Soft Blankets by Yankee Candle. I kept on wondering what terrific fragrance this was and pondering what notes combined to make such an attractive and approachable scent. It is warm and wonderful. It has good longevity and sillage. It is also very affordable. I just wish it came in a cologne rather than eau de toilette.

I like this very much .. my sample seemed to last longer since today I sprayed myself many many times and less then 1 hr later ... gone - sigh Too bad .. it's a very nice scent - and it was cheap cheap, so I can spray away but won't repurchase I'm a sucker for cardmomon and guaiac scents and find that men's fumes have the kind of smell I love (I'm female)

Really rocks!! I got today! Smells so sweet and nice. How can you not love this!?? AAAAHWW its like the best. It reminds me a bit of Bvlgari Black as some others have said. It comes off as very unisex as well. I enjoy the sweet and almost *cake-like* smell. I highly recommend! On 1 to 5 star rate, I give it perfect 5.

its a very nice spicy fresh scent and very sexy. the cinnamon vanilla drydown is blended with suede to make a more masculine version of JPG le male pi givenchy, and although this may smell unisex women love it and it has the great smell of many oriental scents without the overpowering feel and high cost

this is a good scent and it definatley is more masculine with the suede and notes I would highly reccomend this scent it is rare and less known and great smelling you will not be dissapointed

A yummy, cookie-like smell that is great, but fades way, way too quick.

One of the nicest affordable oriental/woody spicy fragrances on the market, though it's becoming harder to find because Zirh has changed corporate hands so frequently in the last few years and seems to be moving away from the fragrance game. Still, you can sometimes find it still at discounters across North America, but not as frequently as a few years ago when it was ubiquitous like Beverly Hills Polo Club is now. Before buying this blind, do know that projection is extremely soft and subtle on this, even spraying rather liberally will have little effect. As SAMaura notes below, this is extremely muted. That is the perfect word, there's a halo around the scent that simply doesn't allow it to be accessed fully. Longevity for me is very inconsistent, I never get more than 5 hours with the majority of wears dying out somewhere between the 3rd and 4th hours. The scent itself is perfect for daytime casual and work in late fall, winter and early spring. It won't impose on anyone and has a nice warmth to it that is soothing and relaxing. Nice, sexy blend of warm winter spices. The nutmeg, cinnamon and cardamom pair nicely on top and blend very well with the soft and gentle vanilla and tonka accords here. The whole piece taken as a whole is nicely blended and none of the notes here really dominate or overly-assert themselves. Doesn't smell synthetic despite its affordability and can easily be worn by all ages. If you can look past the deliberate subtleness of its essence and appreciate Corduroy on its own terms, this is a solid and nice blind buy that will get you compliments in close-quarters and cheer you up in the darkest days of winter. Good.

What a great scent for the price and just a great scent regardless of price really ! This opens up with a fresh and nice but not overbearing grapefruit note mixed with some very warm spices and some creaminess in the background making this a fresh,but smooth and slightly spicy scent that’s very warm and cozy. I was very surprised because this is very well blended and it has notes that you think would clash but they go together very nicely. My favorite part of this scent is the grapefruit as it adds a very nice touch of freshness ! This is pretty linear but once it dries down you do get more of the sandalwood and vanilla and loses some of the citrus but the citrus surprisingly hangs on for the duration of the scent. Also this smells really nice in the air as all the notes really harmonize with each other while on skin in the drydown you get mostly vanilla,nutmeg and sandalwood. My fiancée did like this ! She said it wasn’t her favorite but it was nice and it was a very cozy scent. Performance was decent as it lasted 4-6 hours but only projected moderately. With how good this smells I do wish it projected just a little better. Overall rating -7.5 out of 10 ! Sidenote— on my skin this smells like a mix of Yacht man chocolate and Bvlgari Black. I do prefer this over both of those scent. This for sure has earned a spot in my cold weather rotation.

This is actually well done - it is entirely synthetic but still manages to be interesting enough to wear out on a date or maybe a casual event. It opens with a sharp citric note before taking on a sort of wooded powder note (I assume it's a lavender and tonka accord mixed with the cedar/sandalwood and cinnamon/nutmeg accord). There isn't a whole lot of differentiation in notes here and it kind of smells linear in its 8 hour life - just a sweet and woody powder with a hint of floral. I would wear this more on a rainy or cold day as it projects rather loudly in the heat and picks up an odd note. Over time, there is a wonderful white musk note that accents the wood and spice elements of the fume and takes it on home! This is a simple, cheap, and competently made fume good for days where you want a break from the powerhouses in your collection. I hope you all have a productive day! When I wore this scent for the 1st time and read some reviews at Fragrantica and Basenotes, I saw too much comparisons with Bvlgari Black. Particularly, I didn't see any similarity with Bvlgari Black, which I also have in my personal collection. This is more discreet, subtle, however engaging. It is a cologne for the skin, not the environment. I must confess that I rather the last option (LOL), but Corduroy delivers what it promises. It leaves a creamy and vanilla base that lasts very well. The problem is the lack of projection. After 2 hours on the skin, you think there is no more cologne. But don’t be foolish! It was on my skin for about 10 hours. For its price, it was worth it! But I don't think this is a scent that I go restore in the future, unless I go falling in love as much as I wear it.

I think Corduroy is a very well blended fragrance for men and very affordable as well. I like this fragrance because i can easily pick up the layers of this scent. Its a nice smooth nutmeg and cinnamon scent at the top that has some woods and grapefruit. I think that the base notes dry down into a similar scent as Versace Dreamer and i notice that they contain a few of the same notes as well. If you like smooth spicy scents then you may want to give this a shot. I think a more matured gentleman would hold this scent in higher appreciation than a teen or a younger guy. I think this would suit Fall and Winter the most. At this price,you can't go wrong, so give this little gem a try :) I bought my bottle for $9.00 online :) So far this fragrance has lasted on my skin for about 8 hours :)

I scooped Corduroy up this weekend at Marshall's. The scent seems very muted, I think maybe too faint (this coming from someone who is a lover of light scents) It's kind of strange because I wore this to work today, and got a compliment. I normally don't get many compliments because I like to play it safe with fragrances, lol. Anyways, Corduroy IS a good smelling cologne. At first, I just got the woodsy and spicy notes, but slowly, I began to detect some citrus. Longevity also appears to be pretty decent. Overall, I can't complain. Zirh Corduroy is worth a shot if you haven't tried it. And what a buy it was... I got the 125 ml bottle and the matching shower gel for $14! I plan to use the shower gel to layer with Bvlgari Black. These two are very similar fragrances.

Arrived today! Big solid no nonsense chunky 'man bottle' It's very nice and fresh, it's a little on the light side. I get the citrus notes and the tonka, don't get me wrong i'm not giving it a negative review it is actually a really nice fragrance. I own a pretty old bottle of Bvlgari Black, and I have to say on the drydown of Corduroy there is a bit of a similarity, there is definitely a hint of rubbery tyres, which I hated for years but now kinda like. I find the bottle very tactile, it feels nice and way beyone the £12 I paid for a 125ml bottle. The more i'm going on with this review, the more i'm liking it. Keen to try Zirh's other fragrances. 7/10 ideal for a bloke, not really one for the 'heavy' fragrance connoiseurs.

I bought this blind and was instantly impressed with my purchase. I was thinking ok, what's the catch? Does it turn to piss after a while or ...? Nope, it's just an awesome scent. As mentioned, spicy, oriental on woods. Soapy scent reminiscent to Le Male, Bvlgari Black but also to Chaumet and 212 sexy as they all fall into a very similar family of smell. Not dirty and rubbery like Bvlgari Black, Not as fruity and, dare I say, 'how's-ye-father' as Le Male, Not as powerful and (expensive) exclusive as Chaumet. <$20 Aussie for 75ml, and our perfume industry is more expensive than most.

Nice corduroyed themed bottled. All I can remember about this one is what I smelled when I woke up... the neverending drydown smells just like what I remember of a sample of Le Male I had a couple of months ago. I put some Solo Loewe on along with some Corduroy. I asked my wife to smell me. She had no idea what was where or even what fragrances I may have had on at all. My wife liked Corduroy better as did I. For what I paid for it, I'd say I made out pretty well. Overall this one is semi-pleaZIRHable.

I had this back around 2006 maybe 2007. It was a decent performer with about 6-8 hours of longevity. Nice, cozy scent and very masculine. My mom would always compliment me when I wore it, along with a few random strangers. I assume they watered it down because it sounds like the previous reviews are saying it's very weak. I recently picked up the Original Zirh and Zirh Icon, they are ultra weak. I had both of those years ago and they performed much better....gotta love reformulations! 🤪

The cinnamon, vanilla, and woody base makes this fragrance very relaxing. I get the Yankee Candle comparisons. I wear this either around the house or at work during the cooler months because it really helps me relax. This is nothing groundbreaking, but it does smell good. UPDATE: I just love the top notes to this fragrance... so comforting, and delicious smelling. I've been told that I smell like gingerbread cookies. If only the base wasn't so weak, this could be someone's #1.

Judging by the name and the 'blurb' on the front of the box, I expected this to be a strong, rugged, masculine kind of scent. Perhaps even something approaching a modern day powerhouse. While it is a very manly fragrance with some interesting notes, it is also very disappointingly subtle with only poor to average longevity. Corduroy does have the potential to be great, but unfortunately its way too muted.

This is an awesome scent at a great low price. This is one of the first scents I tried then later on I came across Curve. Corduroy is so close to Curve, so my recommendation is whatever is cheaper, Corduroy or Curve, take it because they are so alike. Beautiful scent and you can make it your own since very few out there are aware of it.

Starts out nutty/woody and turns citrusy ... and it's gone. Doesn't last for more than a couple hours and stays close to the skin. Nothing special or unique, but smells decent for its price. I find it comforting though, to wear it before bed.

Smells like cardboard, cookie and shower gel mixed together. It doesn't project much but persists a decent amount of time. I got it for $5.17. For the price it retails, you can blind buy it and then decide whether you would want to keep it.

A masculine woody fragrance. There a a floral note in there. It's a unique fragrance too. Dries down to woods, cinnamon and vanilla. A little too subtle but I like this fragrance.

If your not sure of this one - try Jaguar Classic Amber - it's nicer!

A woody relaxing fragrance. Don't underestimate this one.

Nutmeg dominates cinnamon, lavender and bay leaf. A bit sweet and sour. Generic. The scents are not complex (and personally I feel the scents are "angular"), not disturbing either. Just not so interesting to me. I'm personally not so into spices unless there are prominent herbal/herbaceous/woody notes around. The price is such a steal if one likes the notes.

I like it. I was surprised to read all the notes that comprise this scent. For me it's a comfortable warm spicy fragrance that lasts most of a workday. It's not daring but is comfortable, suitable for most situations.

Like the smell of toilet paper in a bathroom where someone has taken a hot shower with nicely scented shampoo.

I previously reviewed this fragrance more than a year ago and at that time I was not particularly impressed by Zirh Corduroy. Usually if I have a poor experience with a fragrance I like to wait some time and revisit it to see if my impression has changed. Over the past 18 months or so my bottle of Zirh Corduroy has had time to macerate and as a result the opening is not quite as bad. The hand sanitiser alcohol scent that overpowered the opening when I first tried this scent has now settled somewhat and is not nearly as harsh. Now I get a distinct cucumber note in the opening, the longevity is slightly better than my first review but the performance is still lacking. My overall impression of Zirh Corduroy now is that it opens with a synthetic cucumber note with the alcohol scent still present in the background. It dries down quickly to become a generic, sightly floral, powdery vanilla/tonka scent. I discern very little of the spice or citrus. Within 4 hours it has become a close skin scent and shortly thereafter disappears. A very ordinary scent with below average performance. But the very cheap price of the fragrance means that I don't regret the opportunity to try it. Given my previous experience with the Zirh brand I did have higher expectations for this fragrance, Zirh's range of men's skincare products are some of the best I've tried and their alpha-hydroxy face wash and Zirh protect moisturiser were great.

A very generic and forgettable scent with terrible performance. It opens with a harsh hand-sanitiser alcohol scent, but dries down quickly with powdery tonka and vanilla notes. The dry down is pleasant, but nothing special or remarkable, reminds me of a good air freshener or car deodoriser. Sillage is very poor and the scent remains timid and close to the skin, and unless you seriously overspray it, the scent disappears completely after about two or three hours. I think a can of Dove deodorant has better performance than this. Even though Zirh Corduroy is a cheap fragrance I would not recommend it, as even in this price range, there are better performing options. Zirh are known for their very good skin care products but I feel they have missed the mark with this underperforming fragrance. This was a blind buy, I was expecting good things but I'm a bit disappointed.

Inherited this one when I made a deal with another collector, He had tried to sell it for some time, but couldn't get rid of it so grabbed it. I must say that this perfume is some of the worst juice I have ever come across. Really synthetic, a bottle that you almost have to use to hands to hold, bad scent bad longevity and silage. All in all... BAD in any way thinkable... It can't be used for something though - it works great to hide the smell in the bathroom when the patriarch of the family has visited the loo. A couple of sprays and the rest of the family can stay rested. Overall Rating 2/10

Revisiting this one today after almost two years. I can't make me like it, even tho this time I am able to tolerate it better than when first tried it. For me, it smells just like its price point, cheap. I like all the listed notes, separately, but here it may be the mix of cardamon and mandarin that does not work for me. Bigsly's review is spot on.

I can't stand this anymore, smells too generic (fresh top and vulgar woody base)... Very nauseating... I hate it. P.S.:Once I wore it and dogs started to follow me barking and encircling me...

It is simply too weak to rate. I think it has underlying goodness..but its just such a low performer with no projection. Might be a five minute frag. Car freshener.

What a bargain you get for this incredible gem of a fragrance. I'll start by saying that I got this for $13 including shipping, and didn't have the highest expectations for it. I assumed it smelled good, just based on the reviews, but I also figured it was one of those that evaporates well before you give yourself that wink in the mirror and head out for the day. My, how wrong I was. This little guy beats out fragrances I have shelled out much more money for in terms of longevity. I spray myself around 6:30 before I leave for work, and it'll still be raging on with little signs of fatigue well into the evening. Projection is nowhere near as subtle as some of the reviews here led me to believe. It's almost perfect; it jumps out enough to grab those around you, but it's definitely not a bomb. More on that in a sec. Granted, that's how it works on my skin. Of course, what does all that matter if the scent isn't worthwhile? Well, Corduroy doesn't let you down there either. You get a spicy scent with some vanilla which starts off as just a hint of itself behind a wall of cinnamon/nutmeg, and slowly begins to take over throughout the duration of the ride. With that said, the balance of the sweetness with the spiciness is perfect all the way through, even though the sweetness from the vanilla amplifies. You'll see what I mean. This one would have signature scent written all over it for me, but I find it's really suited for the colder weather. I haven't really tried it in the warm weather, and I don't think I'd want to. Aside from that, you can pretty much wear it anywhere. I think it is super wearable, and it manages to be inoffensive but extremely interesting and noticeable all the while. That said, I almost exclusively wear it to work, so I haven't really had experience with it in tons of social settings. However, this could definitely be worn to school, on a night out (romantic or otherwise), by the fire - there really aren't many places this wouldn't work. I don't think it'll necessarily blow most people around you away, but you will smell good, clean (yes, clean, weird for a sweet/spicy), and really, sort of sexy, in a bit of a youthful and somewhat innocent way. Sometimes, that's exactly what you want. A nice, comfortable, easy scent that smells fantastic without making some huge statement. Best of all, you'll smell unique. This isn't your typical overdose of citrus or aquatic notes. You should just get this stuff. This is perfumery done right - at $13, you really can't lose. In an industry which can often make you feel that you've gotten less than you paid for, small, cheap treasures like these leave you with a good taste in your mouth - or at the least, a good scent in your nose.

Zirh's Corduroy suffers greatly from its lack of projection. It starts off with a tinge of citrus and a heavy shot of nutmeg. The problem is, the fragrance seems to be hemmed in by a shield or some sort of obstruction blocking its way from really coming off the skin and coming alive. Instead it seems a bit bland, stale and dry with the nutmeg, cardamom and cinnamon pushing forward quickly after the citrus gives way and relies too heavily on synthetics for its core. Allergy sufferers beware, the nutmeg in here is an easy trigger and it dominates the heart and top of the fragrance. On dry skin this stuff just flickers out and into a skin scent extremely fast, you have to bury your nose in your skin to pick it up after just an hour of wear even after five sprays. Subtle is too kind a word for this. It's reclusive. Luckily this changes after 2-2.5 hours when the creamy tonka, warming vanilla and rustic but shiny exotic woods crashes over the nutmeg, cinnamon and cardamom, helping to boost projection and extending the life of the cologne past the 4-5 hour mark on most wears. Despite the fact the dry down is a warming and subtle oriental that rescues it from tediousness, overall Corduroy's lack of self confidence and personality is a real hinderance if you like to smell what you are wearing every now and then. The shower gel with this is a real gem that suits the winter months fantastically and has better balance and projection than the EDT in its first two hours before the dry down. This is a decent starter cologne for the uninitiated to the world of woody orientals but there are better performing and more out going juices to chose from for just a few dollars more on the market. Scent: 6.75/10 (dry down saves this one) Longevity: 6/10 Sillage: 2.5/10 Creativity: 4/10 Value: 7/10 Versatility: 5/10 (subtle enough for work and all seasons save for summer, but too soft and weak to make any statement)

Some say that brainy classicism in everyday society is dead. And that everything new created in film and art is some kind of neon bubble gum or a pale imitation of the past made by people with less education and class. Most of the time statements like that are depressingly true. But wearing Corduroy is like wearing a stiff top hat cleverly disguised as a soft and cosy baseball cap. It's a modern and discrete fragrance that moves with the times but it has an olden and erudite appeal. Many of the best fragrances have themed bottles that are really thought trough. Kouros, Fahrenheit and Horizon for instance. The Corduroy bottle works in the same way as Horizon's - you have to backlight it - and preferably in a dimly lit room. If you do what you see is an abstract but vivid impression of a window to the past. More precisely: a jalousied window in a 1930s-50s sepia colored film or photograph. Or as the name suggests - a wavy fabric. In conclusion: it's affordable. It's a good mix of modern and classic and the bottle and name work with the fragrance in a way that can compare with the very best holistic creations in the world of perfume.

I'm surprised by the review just before mine: I don't find this harsh at all, and I like it very much. I've recently been very into men's fragrances and have been exploring some of the classics. I came across the mention of this one on a Basenotes chat page, suggesting it for those looking for classic fragrances in the 80s mode. Corduroy is a very inexpensive fragrance so I grabbed a cheap bottle and sprayed away. I get a smooth combination of barbershop lavender, warm woods and lightly spiced citrus. The dry down has more green grassy notes to go with the wood and lavender,a nd it doesn’t last long, maybe two or three hours as most, and that with little sillage, but it's cheap as dirt, so easy enough to reapply. I'm' really enjoying this one. All that being said, I'm female and over 40, so this might seem too old-school for younger men.

This is One fragrance, which is definitely overlooked by many, clearly because of the chemistry it plays or fails to on your skin. The clear notes of mixing Lavender, Vanilla, Sandalwood, cardamom, gives you that, "whoa are we taking it there? yes we are!" Supplemented with grapefruit and a note not mentioned above but I know to be certain is the suede. Well rounded and a must have, if you haven't had the pleasure just yet. Hint- spray on your forearm (allow the mist to sit, come back to it and pereodically throughout your day) tell me it isn't a fragrance to just indulge. NaifVincit

This is one I'm sure I tried by accident, because it looks and sounds like a boring, generic poor designer that I usually can't stand. However, on my skin, this is a very pleasant, spicy, interesting scent. And those who have mentioned Bvlgari Black's similarities, I agree there are probably some very similar ingredients and you get a much fainter version of the rubbery notes. I don't think projection is as terrible as some have described, I would call it as less than average. I get slightly better than average longevity. For a cheap one, I like it. My rating 6.9

Bought a bottle back in 2007 or 2008? I can't remember. This is quite possibly the BEST cinnamon I've smelt in my entire fragrance journey to date. It is soft, natural, just gorgeous! I've received quite abit of compliments when I wear this. I don't understand why people say the longevity sucks, on me it lasts 8 hours. Sillage is very mild but still good. Best time to wear it in my opinion is fall, and winter. Office setting is perfect. The Drydown is to die for. I will always have this in my collection pity it's not as cheap as they used to be.
