Beaver Edition 2016

As much as I enjoy unique, challenging, animalic fragrances, the original Beaver was just unappealing to me. The sort of fuzzy animal aroma it had felt like it clashed with the spring-like floral/woody top in a shouting match without much harmony. One of the more baffling aspects of the original blend was an intensely strong and acrid ash note. It was lost on me both compositionally and conceptually, had these poor beavers' dam burned down? Was this an attempt to provide some sort of support for the castoreum so it didn't just become musky in the drydown? Was it an attempt to give these somewhat fresh notes a sort of ominous and foreboding overtone? Why so much?! Personally it straddled the line between unique and unpleasant quite unsteadily and I did not find myself reaching for the sample with any excitement. --------------------------------------------------------- In short, they fixed it. This is quite the improvement. The new beaver sort of grabs hold of the previous incarnation's spring-like leanings and runs with them. Where once the top notes left me grimacing with nostrils full of animal ass and soot, this sings with the linden blossom amped up and grounded with leather and a very clear (clean!) musk overtop. It smells classy and smooth... sort of deceptively modern. In the dry down a slight hint of the castoreum is indeed detectable, but it mostly becomes a linden-musk fragrance with leathery facets and a cute little vanillic sweetness that sneaks up in the end. Strangely enough I am reminded a bit of a sort of scratchier, spring-time variant of something along the lines of Tom Ford's White Suede. Smoothening the fragrance has boosted both it's wearability and it's unisex appeal, the previous felt masculine to me in a salty, strange way. This seems perfectly down the middle, in the same way that Panda did, and fans of that one will certainly find something to like in this new beaver. That being said, I do think it would be a fair assessment to say they perhaps took this a little bit too far in the safe direction. Fans of the original will probably be extremely disappointed that their weird musky wet animal-and-ash fragrance has been reduced to a crowd-pleasing green-floral-musky-leather. But personally, I could see myself wearing this much more. Detractors of the former should certainly seek this out as it is truly quite dramatically different. Methinks this will perform well on warm, humid days, and I have plenty of those coming up here in Florida. 8/10

Lord have mercy. This stuff is dapper. True to its name, description, presentation. Everything. What you see on the bottle is what you get from the liquid. Bought a sample of this and now i need a travel spray for occasions. I wouldn't wear this as a daily scent because its way too formal, its way too fly, its way too sharp. I would wear this to a wedding, an interview, executive trip/function or some upper class event. This scent is NOT leathery, its more watery aquatic with musk. So the overall feel is a damp freshness. I loved the opening of it which is extremely ozonic and damp, water like. The dry own is very very faint though and is of the same aquatic fresh theme as the opening. I love the smell of this more than I did squid but its not something I'd wear everyday for the reason i gave along with shorter longevity. Beaver has a moderate longevity and a small silage on the dry own. This scent disappears from the very spot i sprayed it in less than 5hrs. It is a fleeting scent. Very fresh, very masculine this is a scent i would use while wearing my best suits which is why I'll get a travel spray of it. Its not bottle worthy because its strength is too poor in my opinion to justify 165usd for a full bottle. Also worth noting i live in the tropics where the temperature is summer like all the time with temperatures being 29-32degrees centigrade throughout the day so scents have to be very potent to have longevity, that is the only area beaver failed me so it gets a 4/5. If this had a longer longevity, id buy a full bottle but i guess thats eau de parfum for you.

I'm really impressed with this brand. This is real niche perfumery. They have managed to produce a well thought out line. Each one of the perfumes is a masterpiece in my opinion, real attention to details. I still have Dragonfly, Macaque & Panda (new) to test, but I loved all of them. Maybe I will not buy all FBs, but I could certanly appreciate each fragrance. Amazing longevity & quality. Superb blending capabilities. Plus they value quality over quantity when talking of number of fragrances they put out on the market. Beaver... On my skin definitely an aquatic fragrance (not my favorite frag family), but at the same time woody and very musky. On top of that I get after 30 minutes a powdery note that I atribute to amber and vanilla. Castoreum is there, but in the right amount, not prominent. I did not expect to love this fragrance as much as I do. This is super wearable and absolutely unisex. I find it sexy. It's like swimming naked in a lake high in the mountains. It clean skin, chopped wood, water, fresh air and musk. Worth trying out. Beaver & Elephant took my completely of guard. They share the water element in common, but deliver so many layers and impressions on top of that. I could wear this anytime any place during daytime & even night, especially in warm weather.

Alright, I'll be honest, I was excited to try this solely because of the name, and the crude, sophomoric joke I'd be able to use with it. "Excuse me, Ma'am. What fragrance are you wearing?" "Oh that's my Beaver." And then I just smile and walk away. Yes, yes, I know I have the maturity level of a 16-year-old boy. This is not news. And besides, there are few situations where owning the aforementioned euphemism benefits me so directly and concretely. You can't blame me for wanting to take advantage of it. In all seriousness, though, this is actually a fantastic fragrance. Gorgeous, calming, and really transports you to the woods, a quiet stream. It reminds me of She Wood from DSQUARED. But a little more aquatic, maybe a little bit greener. She Wood is often called a unisex scent, but this will likely strike many as being more masculine, so if a guy likes She Wood, but doesn't want to wear a "woman's fragrance," this is a really great choice. Like She Wood, though, the projection of this is nonexistent. Good for an office or close quarters, but it's a skin scent on me. Because of that, I unfortunately won't be getting a full bottle. Lasted about 6-ish hours, though. I mean, I looked weird as hell constantly shoving my nose into my arm, but it lasted quite a while.

I have to admit that I wasn't a huge fan of the original formula of Beaver. It was a great creation, it just didn't appeal to me personally. The original formula was strong, intense and felt a bit agressive. It was like smelling a sweaty beaver in heat, biting your leg out of sexual frustration. This new formula is a whole nother story. This beaver lives in Narnia. It is sweet, kind and approachable, and wants to serve you tea in front of the fireplace in the heart of its home. The scent feels at first fresh and green, like a breeze through the forest. I can smell wood and linden blossoms. There is a moist, fresh, watery note - and of course the animalic smell of leather and castoreum - the cozy smell of warm beaver fur. This is a rich and atmospheric scent, with both freshness and depth. It smells like a combination of wild, untamed nature and something warm, cozy and safe. I love this new formula of Beaver so much that I have ordered it as a birthday present for myself this year. Sillage is medium and longevity is great. I get about 10-12 hours out of it.

Dam (get it?), this is amazing! Beaver 2016 wasn't even on my radar; I read the reviews, and seeing the words "aqueous," "fresh," and "laundry" repeatedly, I was like... meh. Am I ever glad I tried this! I noticed that Beaver 2016 has been compared to Alaia Paris, which happens to be my signature perfume, and while they do share the same core notes - violet(-esque), musk, and leather - they offer completely different experiences. Where Alaia Paris is a bit cold, sphinx-like, and elegant with more pink peppery leather, Beaver 2016 is more warm and cozy with more musk. I also noticed that it's been compared to TF White Suede - a fragrance I've debated getting for years, but always found it a tad too astringent. In fact, Beaver 2016 is a bit like if Alaia Paris and TF White Suede met and had a baby next to a river stream - it's the perfect combination of refreshing, elegant, cozy, and sexy. This is a great everyday scent for leather/musk lovers and a big compliment getter!

Beaver is my favourite Zoologists perfume. My other favourites are Rhinoceros (old formulation), Dodo (old formulation) and Hyrax, Sloth, Chameleon... ok, practically all of them except Hummimgbird (which is one if the very few I don't own). If you love linden blossoms like I do, you found your love. Plus it's woody, smokey, leathery and yet ultrafresh. I don't know why but it makes me think about a trip to Berlin (and no, it's not for the Unten den Linden avenue) and drinking bear in the park in the spring sun. Animalic? Yeah it is a quite a bit, but in a very pleasant way. Of course, just like everything that is subject to personal tastes, you may totally disagree with me and that's fair game. One thing though that I really cannot concede is the evaluation about the performance: longevity and projection are really strong. Believe me, you wouldn't want this furry little bastard to be more powerful!

Wow, I love this one. It is watery, ozonic, linden blossom concoction, and it mixes so well. So fresh, clean and unique. I could wear it to any occasion, exept maybe a date, but otherwise, it is highly versatile. When I first smelled this, I thought, 'This is a memory in a bottle'. Strangely it reminded me of my childhood and just getting out of a lake into a car that has been in the sun, making it boiling inside. What I mean is that the water and some heated up car salon mix reminds me of this, very strange, yet highly appealing to my nose. I cannot easily put it into words, just wow. This is full bottle worthy. Of course, you should sample it before buying anything, but with Zoologist selling the whole set in 2ml, it would be a crime to miss this. Definitely do check this out, it's amazing.

Beaver 2016 is one of the most pleasant and least complex perfumes from Zoologist, and this is a good one for anyone who wants to try Zoologist's perfumes for the first time, as it has the Zoologist DNA while being very approachable (I perceive in all Zoologist scents a certain "DNA" in the background that makes them unmistakable; I can't describe it but it's there). This is a woody aquatic, very fresh, very leathery. The leather is there, but it also feels "fresh". The notes are fresh and clean, and are perfectly blended with the more earthy, leathery and animalic notes. This is truly unisex, has great projection for the first 1-2 h, and on my skin it lasts above 7 h. This is very wearable and a good approach to Zoologist.

Move on over, Sloth--we have a love at first sniff and a top contender for my Natural Selection Set! Like @spensierata mentioned, I am struck by the resemblance that it has to Alaia, albeit a bit more musky / animalic--therefore making it even more up my alley than Alaia already was. I feel like I need to wear this several more times before I can really give it a proper review, but I can only wear it once (since I tend to overspray) before I send off the remainder of the sample to my perfume buddy, as agreed upon. I am excited to try it again later though, as I mentioned before, it is currently top contender of the now 4 Zoologist scents that I've tried. Current Ranking: Beaver > Sloth > Panda > Elephant

I love the latest version of beaver as well as macaque and nightingale. Ive never smelt anything quite like it. Quite experimental but thankfully it really works. The accords listed make it sounds really heavy and oppressive. It is far from that! Who knew castoreum would work so well with linden blossom. Musk and castoreum are heavy notes but they are lightly used here. The two are beautifully enhanced and opened up with the ozonic and linden blossom notes. I love the linden blossom in this. A wonderful dry almost fruity effect. This would be particularly lovely to wear on a spring day. Cool, dry and fresh. This is very wearable for either sex. Moderate sillage and longevity. Love it!

This is one of the animals from The Wind in the Willows... it’s tenderer than reality. It talks! Real beavers can’t. It has thoughts more than it has instincts. Castoreum is there from beginning, as a background, and stays as a background at all times. The frontstage lights are played around airy-aldehydes and a very suede-soft leather note. I don’t feel it as a super complex fragrance, I admire it as a soft power construction. From a pure olfactory classification it deserves deference as not every so often tapped territory: “ozonic-leather anybody”? Hello? Is anybody there? ;)

It looks like some people here are referring to the newer reformulation... that one does have a clean floral aspect and is definitely wearable. The original one is stunning, but not exactly wearable for most... floral and watery as well but with a noticeable stale urine vibe and some of the odd funk that comes off of dried fruit skins (though this is not fruity at all). Even so it is bright and uplifting. I keep going back to this original formulation for recreation if not for wearing because it is one of the most interesting fragrances I have ever sniffed.

I have not tried the pre-reformulation, so no opinion on the changes from me. 2016 Beaver has ozone, aquatics, light florals, musk, and leather. Beautiful, inviting, serene, and airy. Imagine a pond in a Studio Ghibli movie, or as LilSockMonkey put it, "something that would be piped in the air at Soarin Over California." Weak projection but it lasts a while. One of the most unique and captivating fragrances I own. I would recommend sampling it to all but the most grr-beastmode-chauvinist types. This isn't a traditionalist's perfume but it is a great one.

Beaver is possibly my favorite Zoologist fragrance. When it comes to Zoologist, I love a few, like a few, and don't particularly care for several. Beaver is a yummy fresh leather. I recently purchased a new leather bag, and every time I walk past it, I get a delicious whiff of leather. I finally had to spritz myself in some Beaver to keep the magic alive without resorting to schlepping my new bag around the house. Delightful! And yes, it does feel weird writing a review about the wonders of Beaver.

Beaver is a balanced and wearable aquatic-leather scent. This is a scent of early dewy morning, while you are on a motorcycle trip. You smell freshness and some delicate meadow flowers, maybe pink clover? You put on your leather jacket, start the engine. Here comes the Zoologist hallmark note - a bit of burning tires on asphalt. But the note is not dominant, then it is just a fresh sunny morning somewhere in Canada. We are Beavers :) This is an unofficial scent of Canadian road trips in summer!

Beaver 🦫 might just be zoologist best, its a toss up between beaver 🦫 and 🦏. Starts off really fresh but then i would say the oud kicks in but there no oud in the notes. 🤔 really well put together fragrance, was really impressed with this one but yet again horrendous performance. If this had decent performance it would be full bottle worthy. 6 hours and its gone with zero sillage. What a disappointment.

Recieved the original sample of this in the 2024 all samples pack. Absolutely blew my mind how perfectly I could imagine a small pond in the woods with every whiff. Suprisingly aquatic forward, but the wood notes are never too far behind. Hope to grab a bottle of this before it leaves Zoologist!

Beautiful and really reminds me of Mechant Loup. It is in fact the way Mechant Loup should have been, with better sillage and longevity. Excellent, beautiful fragrance.

Beaver drys down to something rather elegant—soapy, musky, and wearable. Never judge a perfume by its opening.

This surprised me. I was expecting a much more animalic and dirty scent from a beaver. But this is a watery, soapy, clean musk, and woods scent. It does have a nice dose of castoreum, but not overly animalic. I also get linden blossom and a distant citrus note. I'd say orange or lemon. In the opening and mid, i got some iris too, but it's gone after an hours time. All in all, this is a Very wearable scent. This can be a signature scent, no problem. Very wearable. Smells clean, soapy, and fresh. Kind of like Acqua di gio inspired niche, with leather, more woods and green notes. Perfect work/everyday fragrance. Where: Casual to formal, and work friendly. It's nothing special. It's a clean, fresh, watery and woodsy fragrance with a decent amount of musk. When: Spring and summer feels right, but fall and winter wouldn't be a problem, as much as just slightly the wrong vibe. Day or night, but again, for night time this has the wrong vibe. But it's not wrong in any way. Who: Anyone. This is leaning masculine, but not to the degree that it's not unisex. This is great for any age groupe. Personal score: 8.75/10. Very wearable. Smells clean, soapy, and fresh. A little too plain for my taste. But if you like typical clean aquatics, this will probably be right up your alley.

As this opens I get a blast of cold lake water, algae and sharp, herbal greens. The linden is playing second fiddle - linden is a favorite note for me but I've never experienced it like this, lean and stripped of its sweet hay notes. There's also a hint of something animalic lurking off in the distance. As this dries that something animalic turns out to be the leather accord, which moves front and center, supported by the water and linden. After about an hour, the leather recedes and this resolves into a lovely floral aquatic with leather undertones. The basenotes are warm, round and comforting, the vanilla is subtle and the dark wood, delicious. The lake notes linger and blend. This never turns very sweet and on me it's truly unisex, or perhaps more accurately, ungendered - devoid of the classic accords traditionally associated with feminine or masculine perfumes. I would have loved to get some of the "wood shavings" noted in the sample card's top notes, but those didn't come through for me (or maybe they're just blended very well?). Overall this is a very pleasing leather fragrance, recommended.

I must admit that i never interested in zoologist beaver until i found samples sold for discount, and i couldnt be more happier! This must be one of the best zoologist i have tried. Open really fresh with that ozonic notes, just like you are standing in front of a great peaceful lake in spring. Then once the middle notes kick in, you will get woody and kind of wet animal smell, which is really well made and by no mean off putting. This is joined by floral scents in the base notes. I think this is very accurate representation of beaver, with clean water, wood and wet but clean animalic. Really happy with my sample - while this is by no mean a sillage beast, i will definitely get a full bottle of this. Edit - got my full bottle now and havent been this happy for a bottle for a while!

Fresh Air! Floral and wood shavings! What's not to like? It is a great scent. Leaves you sitting with a musky sweet leather. Very comfortable. Lasts a good bit. Right after a few sprays, the projection was a few feet. Caught the attention of others around me. But quickly dies down and is closer to the wearer. Certainly enjoyable and not outlandish. Great daily wear, well at least for me. I recommend giving it a shot. The only reason I do not love it, would be the projection. For me to love something, I want it to stand out and let others take notice, offensive or not. I agree with other comments that it seems tame for Zoologist. You would think Beaver would be killing it with a woodsy or a damp animalic vibe. Give it some big buck teeth next time.

It smells like a sweet wood bark. The heart warms through and smells like the wooden planks on a boat. The beginning is so floral it's feminine, small purple blossoms maybe yellow. Then wood chips of northern trees like cedar, mahogany, pine, fir. Dark wood dampened by fog and misty rain. River water and animalistic musk and fur. Masculine but could be very intriguing to wear as a woman. The oakmoss comes through gently without becoming overly masculine. This really walks the line, it's masc in a traditional sense but the handling and delivery is gentle and very femme friendly. Good for family gatherings with small children, feels very warm, almost soothing. A slight synthetic note comes through but disappears into a poof of vanilla musk.

My carded sample lists a watery note, a giveaway that I’m sampling the correct Fragrantica identified Beaver. One thing I respect about Zoologist is the concept and stories behind each fragrance. Even if I don’t agree, I’m still very curious—and sometimes confused—when I wear their scents. Occasionally I even fall in love. I’m vacillating between like and indifference regarding Beaver. I find the fresh laundry scent with aldehydes a good descriptor. The green notes are more wearable than Panda and Elephant, and the musk does place me near a spring pond, although the body of water is stagnant. Beaver does a great job of describing a place through scent. Overall interesting and non offensive, but a pass on a purchase or larger decant.

Beaver could easily pass off as a scent from the Clean brand. It's clean clean clean, airy, watery, fresh, laundry-ey, watermelony... It's one of the most wearable if not the most wearable by Zoologist. Nothing shocking or too animalic here like some others from the house. I like it, but it's a bit too generic for me to get a full bottle. Do try it out though, it's definitely worth it! Also, the note breakdown up here was reworded to accommodate the website. 'Beaver (2016)' captures the animal's environment perfectly. It smells like you're standing right next to a calm stream where a beaver had just built its dam. The scent is wet wood and fresh air; very ozonic, light, and musky. Unfortunately, there's no projection or sillage on my skin; my sister could barely smell it on me minutes after application. I enjoy the smell, but it's probably not something that will get you much attention (good or bad). I've seen a few other reviews on here mention this, but I totally get vibes from the "Soarin'" ride at Walt Disney World: that synthetic scent they pump into the air as you're flying over the water. I might buy a full bottle just for that.

I enjoyed this one more than I thought, starts off with a very green and wet musk and literally dries down over time. The opening smells like a green, ozonic, and leathery musk with wood chips in the background for the first hour or so, but as it dries down, Beaver becomes less wet and more of a pungent musky leather which I think is the castoreum playing its part. It's really pleasant overall and would be a great outdoors or gym smell if it performed better on me, I disappears on skin after 2 hours for me but lasts at least a day or two on clothes, and like what bro said below, only bad thing to me is that it really don't project.

After sampling in Autumn and winter and now late Spring, I now feel for me this is a cooler weather wear. The gorgeous linden is still there and the fresh crisp air and running water but I also sense the watermelon note I’m not that keen on that is used to represent “mountain air” in Alaia (black). Not as pronounced as that fragrance but discernible and I didn’t get it in cooler temps. I’ll try Beaver in summer and see how it fares there (for completeness). That aside it’s a cool drink of water. Meditative, solitary and a scent that helps you feel at peace with yourself. Lasts well and a nice scent bubble to boot. ❤️

Now this is what I would call “bober, kurwa” in Polish. I don’t know the original Beaver from 2014, but this one plays it quite safe while still being interesting and definitely brings to mind a colony of beavers building a dam somewhere along a river. Beaver has a very strong aquatic character without falling into the “marine freshie” category. Which is good, it is a freshwater animal after all, not a sea-dweller. You can also pick up some woody leather as well, a furry beast it is indeed. A good, wearable alternative to typical marine summer scents, although it’s pricey and I wish it lasted longer on my skin.

This is Zoologist's take on an ozonic light fragrance that's not offensive or in any way thought provoking. It's ideal for usage in an environment where you are close to people, like the theatre or cinema, where you don't want to choke the others around you but fit in with a pleasant scent. BUT it is nothing more than that - so in no way is it worth the huge price tag of a Zoologist fragrance! Spend your money on one of their real top dogs to get a scent that is fascinatingly unique!

Freshly washed laundry & a green, woody herbal stink. Beaver smells sharply-soapy (water & oozonic notes), with a bitter green accord reminiscent of crushed leaves, a deep woody note, & an animalic stink that feels forced into this composition & is out of place. Luckily the stink fades in less than an hour, leaving you with a clean, cozy, soapy scent. A likeable scent, & for the most part, inoffensive, but the stink the opening might be a turn off for some. "Like" & Pass.

Someone else struggled to describe it as anything but "nice". I get that. The opening is immediately quite bright, watery and floral but that tames down almost immediately on my skin. It soon settles into the linden blossom, leather and castoreum that the notes pyramid shows. Light. Musky. Floral. Nice. Not much more I can say. Not what I expected from Zoologist but then that might be good for some people. The others I tried were quite potent and dark.

Was really hesitant to even try this given the size of that leather note bar. But this really wasn't hugely leathery to me. More like woods and water (very light leather, floral) - though the brightness of that lime/blossom lifts things throughout. I like all of that though this scent just doesn't last on me. Or maybe it does and because I spend so much time around wood and water, it just blends right in. Lovely and very wearable.

I'm wearing this today at the office, using my sample. Noone noticed it, neither as a good smell nor a bad one. I'm a bit baffled by the combination of airy-watery-flowery notes and the castoreum-leather, but it's more strange than unpleasant, and not as crazy as "Bat". I haven't tried the previous version, and can't imagine what it was like. Beaver 2016 may not become a favorite of mine, but it is a wearable fragrance.

I wanted to love this fragrance but I found the performance very poor. I get 3-6 hours worth and then it is very very close to the skin. This is a good fragrance to wear to the office, gym, or somewhere you don't want people to say ' what the hell are you wearing' This is more of a Fall/Spring scent would can also be worn in the Summer. I prefer the new blend if you have the choice of the 2.

Babbling brooks, evergreen trees, and a hint of a beaver pelt somewhere. A very soft, inoffensive woodsy green scent. It's a bit TOO soft though, barely projects at all and after three hours it was completely gone. (In writing this review I managed to refrain from the very obvious, vulgar joke despite every primal instinct to do otherwise. So you're welcome for that)

This might be the soapiest fragrance I have ever worn. But! It smells like an expensive soap at least. It dries down a bit more musky and finally to a smell closer resembling fresh leather. Beaver would be an IDEAL new car scent, but I think it’s a little more elevated than that. Easily one of my favorite Zoologist scents that I’ve smelled! I enjoy wearing this one.

With Zoologist it is now a declared love story. The olfactory contrasts that emerge from their creations reconnect me with the harmony of the universe and the chaos of Mother Nature. Which also happened with this “Beaver”, a perfume with surprising photorealism in which Chris Bartlett opens enchanted glimpses into the muddy, animalic woodland iconography. Sublime.

Conceptually stunning. Takes you from riverside, through the water, and into the humid den as it develops. Sits weird on my skin some days, soapy notes are a hit or miss and can smell like anything from wet fur, fragrance free soap, and a bucket full of saliva. A deep, wet, and woody musk otherwise.

Beaver is a fresh and clean laundry musk scent. It starts off ozonic with a little greenness from the lime blossom. The leather and castoreum are sweet but not intense. They are softened by the watery notes. Very pleasant overall, but I wish the sillage was stronger. It's a very light fragrance.

This fragrance is kind of a (very) diluted Tuscan Leather, with aquatic nuances. Very interesting!

The linden flower hits you hard in the beginning. Other notes begin to appear as the spray dries. I can pick up a slightly animalic scent with the iris, but very little vanilla. There are some watery notes as well. I don’t get any of the smoke that others have talked about. Fragrance seems more feminine than masculine at this point. The strong floral note continues from the very beginning. For the first half hour I’m pretty sure I can’t wear this, too feminine for this old man. As Time marches on the base notes appear, the floral notes pull back, but don’t leave. Things are better. I get more of the Amber, musk, Cedar notes. I’m still not picking up any smoke. And that’s OK. Patience is truly a virtue. Farther into the dry down , I think I might be able to wear this, but not sure. I like the dried scent better than the opening. It projects pretty well. This is somewhere closer to OK than like. ( I prefer Macaque from Zoologist.)

The interpretation of the theme is detracting from wearability on this one. Opens up very green and aquatic. It's not realistic - a stylized pond drawn with bright, almost neon, colors. The leathery notes that appear soon after the opening are the beastie swimming under water. It tells the story but, to my nose, clashes with the green and aquatic notes. The beaver never gets in your face and swims away about two hours in and the green notes mellow out. That's where the Acqua Di Gio comparison resonates with me. Which makes sense as Acqua Di Gio is citrus, aquatic and woods and the latter two are the Beaver's realm. It's not as strong as most other Zoologist perfumes, which can be considered a positive as some of them are just too loud. The drydown is where I like it most, but at that point it's quite close to the body.

First blast of sweet flowers and fresh air and water, like a river running through a meadow on the edge of a forest. After a minute a faint smoky woods starts to present along with a darker animalic musk, like the wet fur of a very clean dog. The woods and wet fur continue through the dry down, evoking images of walking around a dry lumberyard with a faithful companion by your side; pleasant but not for my tastes. Unisex but masculine leaning and suitable for cooler weather. 6+ hours later: The scent has went round full circle and ended at the floral note, no trace of musk or woods at all. Hasn't completely faded yet but it's close now.

opening is very fresh and clean. ozonic, aquatic, powdery, and floral. notes of leather, wood, and musk creep in to make the scent more grounded. I enjoy the imagery this fragrance evokes, it really does feel like I'm on the bank of a stream in the woods. the dry down is a nice musky wood scent with some vague vegetal wetness. unfortunately I'm not a fan of ozonic scents and the opening is just too soapy for me, but if you like scents like that then it's definitely worth a try. I wish I could try the OG Beaver as those notes sound way more appealing!

Smokey, animalic, fresh, musky, leathery, aquatic and most of all soapy. The fresh and dirtiness do not mix well. It is unique and vintage but pretty mediocre overall in my opinion. Never smelt linden blossom or castoreum before so I can't comment on how strong they are. Don't pick up on any vanilla and if it were more prevalent I think this would be a better fragrance. Not bad but not good.
