Chipmunk

The most recent release from Zoologist is Chipmunk, fittingly a nut-heavy composition that has woody, fruity, and slightly spicy/animalic accords, as well, fostering the habitat and diet of the rodent subject, looking sharply uniformed in the house’s signature artwork. It instantly feels pretty harmonious, with balance among the hazelnut and spices, most importantly, with just the touches of fruit (quince), and a sort of oaky feeling throughout, and I’m impressed at how restrained it is but that it involves some bold, interesting touches. It definitely has a very blended effect, without many of the individual spices and other notes being all that distinguishable, the hazelnut being the main standout, but relatively subtle when compared to, say, a note like coconut that would usually announce itself more loudly. Overall, though, Chipmunk is among the more understated offerings from the house, even with its wealth of interesting notes, yet it performs pretty well and feels niche and somehow off the beaten path, even though its main elements are familiar and comforting. Chipmunk is priced at the standard $165 for 60ml in extrait concentration and is sold by great boutiques like Perfumology, which sells samples, as well as the house site, which also sells a 10ml travel spray for $45. I’m quite impressed with this recent release. Congrats to Victor Wong and his team for another lovely addition to the house. I might have to nab a bottle. 8 out of 10

This is unlike any fall fragrance that I own. It's basically autumn in a bottle, but make it sweet... Adorable even. There are not that many sweet notes in this, but it still smells like very refined Nutella, due to the very prominent hazelnut note. I don't like a lot of gourmands, as they often can are sickly sweet or boozy, but this is all very well balanced, and not too edible leaning at all. It's also one of the best animal depictions by Zoologist- it smells exactly like the little chippy from the perfume bottle portrait. Pia Long understood the assignment. Despite Chipmunk being sweet and adorable, you don't need to fear wearing it if you're a man- it's a true unisex. There are no detectable florals in it, the dirty soil and animal notes feel very smooth and well blended, and there isn't anything about this fragrance that feels either masculine or feminine. It just feels cosy-brown, if that makes sense. Brown nuts, brown tree bark, brown soil, brown chippy. I can even see it being appealing to slightly more men than women. It's not a very long lasting fragrance, but I enjoy every hour of wearing it. Despite that, the woodsy and nutty notes feel very strong at the first spray, and they can be headache inducing in hot weather. I think it can be worn during all seasons except summer, but fall is ideal.

The “This perfume reminds me of” list is just bonkers, half of those smell nothing like this perfume... Chipmunk is fruity, woody, nutty and slightly resinous... nothing more, and nothing less. Zoologist animal interpretations are very interesting, and perfectly reminiscent of their corresponding animal moniker... not like other brands such as Jusbox, who forces absolutely absurd and random music names and references to their perfumes. Coming back to Chipmunk, it’s lovely, it’s cozy, it’s slightly sweet, it’s very interesting, but unfortunately it’s also very faint and intimate. There are a myriad of ingredients listed for this concoction, but as mentioned previously, what you’ll get is a sweet and zesty fruity scent, a very likable greenish wood accord, a lot of nuts, and some faint resin accord. Not a single ingredient is detectable on its own, all are perfectly well blended. The scent will transport you inside a Chipmunk’s den, no doubt about it. It’s unisex and better suited for cold or mild weather. Performance is really bad all around, and it’s a shame, basically scented water. Constant reapplying will be required. A very lovely parfum, I just hope someday Zoologist improves performance.

First of all, I'm glad to have found a reference point for a great woody-spicy perfume. It's been a while since I smelled a precious liquid so wonderfully dry, spicy, and woody—neither gourmand nor sweet, but somehow both at once. Since the release of Vanille Mona di Orio. Just as Mona's Vanille is a unique oriental-spicy, so the Chipmunk is a unique woody-spicy. Here is the non-existent Mr. Chipmunk from Fantastic Mr. Fox—golden-brown, wearing a velveteen tailored suit, living in a hollow in the woods with varnished furniture. This is how he should have smelled if he existed at all. In the dry down, it evokes the soft fur of a cute little animal. Important note: I didn't like it the first time, nor the fifth. Fortunately, my sample was large enough to go through different moods and adjust my expectations. It turned out to be not at all what I expected, but wonderful in a completely different way. I will definitely try to explore more of Pia Long's works, because Chipmunk was created by an incredibly talented person!

I got this more out of curiosity than anything else. I'm new to Zoologist perfumes and only liked Chameleon of the ones I sampled. I'd been looking for something more autumnal after wearing Atelier's Clémentine California most of the summer. I wasn't expecting much from Chipmunk because it sounded like it could be sickly or overbearing from the descriptions I read. I'm surprised and really happy with how it smells on my skin. The hazelnut is very subtle and more authentic compared to some sweeter hazelnut scents. It doesn't overpower the rest of the fragrance. There's a rich peppery spice and woodiness to this that's so atmospheric and comforting – with a nice hint of citrus at the top. It really feels like an autumn day to me. I like how it settles on my skin, too. (Then again, I love earthy/woody smells and patchouli.) I'm a lurker on this website and use it to help me decide on new fragrances, so I'm surprised to see some mixed reactions to Chipmunk. Glad I bought this on impulse.

this is literally wood on wood, with more wood, and a hint of wood! and I love it! It’s exactly what a little chipmunk would smell like. This opens with fresh spices and citrus, it’s autumnal like. This is a chipmunk in the fall, collecting as many nuts as he can, fur warm as the sun sets, as he hurries back to a hole in an oak tree where he resides. The earthy notes mixed with the chamomile in here create a “dirty” sweetness, it’s natural, it’s grounded, it works beautifully. With the dry down there’s even more woods ofc and with an animalic note that again reads a bit “dirty” but never funky or nasty or unlikable in any sort, it reminds me of hay, where it’s an earthy dirtiness but it works. This isn’t sweet in almost any way, this is woody, its earthy, its nutty, but never sweet in any way besides a slight sweetness that you get from smelling the fresh bark of a tree as the sun shines on it. This is indulgent in the wood category, but that’s exactly what a chipmunk would enjoy.

So happy to have tried a sample. This was a love of first sniff for me - a woody, warm, hazelnut goodness that is very enveloping and makes you feel all warm and fuzzy. The notes are perfectly blended and the hazelnuts are very prominent, melted with hazy woods and warm pachouli. This is not a green forest, this is a hazy sun-drenched forest where chipmunks sleep soundly in their tree nest, surrounded by hazelnuts they have gathered for the winter. It is totally unisex, easy to pull off. If you love rich and cosy scents, this is a must try. I see it perfectly for autumn and colder months when it will surround you like a fuzzy warm scarf. Performance is good, i get a delicious trail and after couple hours stays close to the skin (bear in mind that this is just from trying a sample so with more sprays you get stronger performace) Overal a love for me, i am so excited to finally have a Zoolgist animal that i love. Will definitely be picking up a bottle in August when it launches.

Ok. There is something in the dry down of this that smells like Italica. It has a touch of gourmand Italica in it, but wrapped in a more relaxing-woody fragrance. It is kind of a marriage between 70% ETAT LIBRE D'ORANGE Fat Electrician with 30% XERJOFF Italica and then add in a little bit of an almost herbal thing too (I think it's the fir+chamomile+resins). It is very pleasant. And if you enjoy a woody+gourmand type then chances are you will enjoy this too. It isn't entirely unique just because of the connections I'm making here, but I still love it... If you have ever tried ZARA Majestic Green - imagine that but make it more realistic-woody. The woodiness in this is rustic but also smooth and well done, so it doesn't come off with harsh edges. This does smell like a good quality perfume. I blind bought this and Bee and I love both! But Bee has literally blown me away.

I made this my first full bottle buy from Zoologist and I am so happy with it. If you are a fan of Fat Electrician and love sweet fall/winter-oriented scents with prominent nut notes (hazelnut, chestnut, etc.), you need to give this one a try. It's definitely in the same room as FE, but where that's very much a powdery vetiver and more synthetic experience (as I've said before, from me this is not a pejorative label), this one is more natural and actually hits my nose as a little bit boozy, likely the sweetness in combination with all of the resins. I also can understand why some might find this animalic, but for me it's more of a clean-fur animalic note than the traditional skank with which that label is attached to things like Castoreum and others that bring a much deeper funk. For fans of powdery accords, nutty notes and a little sweetness this is absolute artwork.

I'm loving this!! It smells like incense (frankincense), aromatic spices, creamy woods, and hazelnuts. I think it's the balsam fir and amyris that give the frankincense vibe, along with a forest-y feel. I don't get much oak (thankfully, I'm not a big fan of oak), but I do get a lot of the guaiac wood which gives this a nice creaminess. Everything in here is blended to perfection. I'm finding that some of the more recently released Zoologist fragrances are less avant-garde than earlier releases, and therefore a bit more mass-appealing and easier to wear; Chipmunk is one of those...there is nothing animalic or challenging about this. I'm so glad I tried this one, it wasn't on my radar, and is a total love for me. Leans more masculine IMO, but one I'd wear and add to my collection. Lastly, the performance on this (like all other Zoologist scents I've tried) is fantastic!

I've been searching for the perfect nutty fragrance to add to my collection, and this is it. 'Chipmunk' is simply delightful: a woody hazelnut burrow, sprinkled with spices and furriness. It opens with the smallest hint of freshness from the quince and mandarin, but the oak and hazelnut are front and center here. The earthy notes are dry, yet smooth and not harsh. The perfect amount of sweet nuttiness without leaning gourmand. 'Chipmunk' is a friendly fragrance, but also interesting, with great sillage that lasts all day on my skin. This immediately became one of the my favorites from Zoologist Perfumes, and a love at first sniff for me. As soon as it releases, I'm grabbing a full bottle faster than a chipmunk scurrying away with a cheek full of acorns.

Chipmunk by Zoologist opens with a blast of coniferous forest and then dries down to powdery, semi-sweet hazelnut with benzoin and resins. I love the opening so much, given that some of my favorite fragrances smell like pine forests, so the dry down is a little disappointing. I wanted to stay in the forest with the chipmunk! Instead, we are getting a closeup of the chipmunk's oak tree lair, which is full of hazel nuts stored for the winter, along with the cute fuzzy animal. I guess this progression makes the perfume brilliant, given that we move quickly through the pine forest and then into the creature's darling little home. I like it and I would wear it if I owned a bottle, but I wish the dry down smelled like the opening. Excellent performance 4/5

CUTE CUTE CUTE. A chipmunk would love this perfume. Smells like plump ripe nuts (like green, watery, fresh nuts) and woods. When I tried it in winter it felt a lot brighter and cleaner but now with hotter weather an animal note has reared its head, its a very subtle note that resembles Deer by zoologist, which has a clean coca cola animal musk. This perfume is sweet but not gourmand. There is a green aspect to this that really compliments the nutty notes, pine and nuts together are a delightful combo. I think this is one of my favorite zoologist perfumes! It does not smell like literal chipmunk, which for me is a nice thing. (for any rat owners reading: actual chipmunk smells like boy rat but with slightly less ammonia and slightly more diry)

I've tried about 12 zoologist samples so far, and while they've all been very interesting and wonderfully crafted, this is the first one I've smelled that I would actually wear on a daily basis. The opening is a bit spicy and peppery at first, but also very earthy. The combination of notes in this reminds me of an old wood cabin that was built on the edge of a lake in the forest. It's a bit drafty and musty with age, but also warm from something baking in the kitchen. As it dries down it becomes nutty and creamy. By the end of the day it starts to smell more masculine and cologne like. The longevity on skin isnt great, but decent on clothes. This is a very comforting and nostalgic fragrance that I would absolutely buy a full size of.

this is so delicious and comforting. it's animalic in a small animal way rather than a beastly way. on my skin, this is more of a skin scent and lasts 3-4 hours... so i spray it a lot. it's not overwhelming at all, unlike some zoologist perfumes. despite the not amazing performance on my skin, i still love this so much i splurged on a bottle. i want to live in this perfume. nutty, full of spices and resins, woodsy, animalic; i'm obsessed! the quince is a really great touch, both fruity and floral. detectable and delectable. for me, it's a sort of boyish scent. not heavy enough to be manly. it's not very sweet (thank god) but it isn't sour by any means. just warm, woodsy and yummy.

Chipmunk is the perfect fragrance for Autumn! It's delightfully blended. Its creamy nuttiness, nutmeg-spiciness, and soft amber-vanillic sweetness perfectly evoke being outdoors in October when the air is cool, the trees are dressed in their reddish-orange and yellow finery, and the summer-parched grass, unexpectedly green again after the recent rains, is strewn with brown leaves hiding countless fallen acorns and filberts. Another fragrance I love for the season that - although composed of quite different notes - has the same warm yummy Autumnal vibe is Tam Dao EdP. Those two are my favorite Fall fragrances - actually let's throw in Ambré Narguile and make it three!

When first sprayed I was hit with a delightful and realistic nutmeg and cardamom, but in a fee seconds that all turned into straight up wood. Smells like the inside of a sturdy wooden dresser, but the longer I would sniff at it, I started to also smell the fur and musk, it's very subtle and clean, and to me smells exactly like my cat. While I think I do mostly agree that this scent is kinda average on the scent profile, the sheer joy it brings me to smell my cat, happily napping in my folded laundry, makes this a love for me. I would have liked it more if it actually smelled like baking spices for any length of time longer than straight out the bottle, but oh well.

The first spray makes me smile... hazelnut and, maybe because we eat so much Nutella, I get chocolate too. But I think my brain made that connection on its own. Lots of nut smells and a frothy milkiness with light wood. I get some of the quince, rich spicy fruit - just a touch. It's maybe a little gourmand, clever for sure. I want to pour it on some ice cream. After an hour (and a walk outside) it's much more powdery and woody, still creamy, which is a pretty effect after the edible opening. I want to wear this again in the Fall/Winter, next to a fire or walking in some Autumn leaves, wanting to curl up with a soft fluffy little creature.

opens with a beautiful blend of pepper, nutmeg and other spices, camomile and hazelnut. all of these notes sing in a gorgeous harmony together, and are set upon a base of dry woods and dirt. has a gentle carmelly sweetness. a clear day, light clouds, in the woods. dry powdery dirt surrounds a scattering healthy hazelnut bushes. a chipmunk emerges from a hole underneath on of the for a short moment to stuff it's cheeks with hazelnuts and slinks back down in to it's home. enough spice for a cold brisk day but enough earthy greenness for a cooler spring day. has that sweet animalic smell like a small furry mammal, like a cat or small dog

Chipmunk is a musky and lusty little creature. Oh what a subtle seductive spell he casts. Buttery toasted hazelnut, the earthy smells of damp soil, the aromatic expansive smell of oak. The gentle sweet spiciness of cardamom, quite innocent and unassuming but when that musk dry down appears and melts with the rest of these homey cozy aromas chipmunk becomes something more than just a typical woody fragrance. For me chipmunk is one of those your skin but better scents. If you wear chipmunk people will just think you naturally smell this good. It is like a soft spicy, buttery, nutty woody skin musk. Deliciously sexy.

As someone who’s been allergic to nuts this one is nice I’m starting to appreciate nutty smells. The opening has the same dirty animalic quality as other Zoologists do but is mainly a dark woody fragrance with some nutty nuances. The hazelnut is detectable pretty early on and works well with the animal notes and woods to make an intimate warm mood. This isn’t an old smelling fragrance or a young one and can def be a unisex smell that lasts 6-8 hours on skin with my only complaint being that it is a soft projector, don’t think many others will notice unless you’re going to be very close.

Returning on a winter evening to the inviting warmth of our little home, new wood cabinets toasty and fragrant with the heat of the stove. My wife, on seeing me enter, gives a little squeal, stops shelling the pile of hazelnuts on the table, and scurries up to give me a peck on the cheek. I smile as I look around and see hazelnuts peeking out, stashed beneath table, chairs and stove. I know later I’ll chuckle as I find a bunch beneath my pillow. I return the kiss, her whiskers tickling my lips. My coworkers may not understand, nor my parents approve, but this is home for me.

I like Zoologist as an house but based on the notes I was not interested in that one. How wrong I was. This really does smell like realistic hazelnuts. Not sugary hazelnuts, not roasted ones. The whole fresh nuts. It's the only nutty scent that doesn't smell like a dessert I know. The dry-down is soft and delicate, woody and nutty. An all-occasion, all style, unisex scent for Fall/Winter. I can only detect some chamomile and a very discrete soil note. Overall this is a calming and inviting fragrance. Very well done. It leans masculine on me so I'll see if I want a FB ...

On my skin, Chipmunk is a dark, nutty, animalic and spiced fragrance. I get notes of hazelnut, cocoa, cinnamon, cumin at the heart, sandalwood and patchouli, civet in the base. After washing my hand, the animalic / civet notes come through. Upon dry down, it settles down to a powdery and woody fragrance. I feel like this a perfect scent to put on just lounge in the cold weather, put on your hotel robe, order room service and roll around under the sheets. a hillside walk in late, late summertime, when all the oak oils and woody herbaceous plants and fine, powdery dust emanate with incredible fragrance. envelops with a dry warmth, radiates only slightly - like the thin coating of trail dirt coated on the lower legs. has also a pleasant tea-like smell, presumably because of the chai spices and chamomile - spiced without being sweet. extremely pleasurable and pleasant in an understated, soft-voiced way - will be wearing this, a skort, an ugly vest, and cute hiking shoes to wander some inland paths (bring a book!)

Chipmunk reminds me a lot of Cloon Keen Castaña, however Chipmunk is less green and a bit more nutty and sweet.. not gourmand sweet and on me it's not like Nutella at all. Very cosy and comforting earthy-aromatic Autumn kind of scent. I have Castaña so not sure I need Chipmunk as well. Sillage is small, it's rather a skin scent, longevity is a few hours. It lasts forever on clothing. Update: I bought a full bottle and I am in love with Chipmunk. Really a photorealistic hazelnut scent. It works very well in cold weather (under 5 Celsius degrees)

Chipmunk is a scent you can take with you anywhere in cooler weather. If you're out and about, it is so gentle and pleasant that it stands much more as an accompaniment than a statement, but one that is a little more dressed-up than down. If indoors, it will suit any cozy setting since it can just as easily accompany the room as it can the individual. It would be unfair to call it a wall flower but it's definitely minding its own business, light-hearted and affable but respectable, soft spoken yet with plenty to say... the tortoise to the hare.

The smell of fall in the air, spices, nuts. And sweet jam. This smells like a dream of running through the autumn forest your feet hitting the wet forest floor covered in fallen maple leaves. As you run, you find yourself following a trail of a scent of the finest pie and nut butter. You follow this devilish scent all the way to a cabin where you have tea with a lovely lady, and you two talk about all kinds of fun things. Needless to say, this is a gorgeous scent!

A very warm, creamy, smell that's starts off with some brief zest to dry down in a mellow hug that last for ages. What a charming way to make a woody fragrance feel deep in character yet light and soft around the edges! In terms of the imagery that comes along Zoologist perfumes, I envision not a cute scene in the forest, but the dread of twilight. Predators have started waking up, lurking every corner, but the chipmunk lies safe in its well hidden den.

It’s Easy to love this scent from zoologist. The picture on the bottle suits him well. A dignified, well traveled chip munk with positive vibes. Nutty to its core, I really love the stuff. It’s sent me on a nutty fragrance buying spree. Cozy as can be! I don’t get very good performance from the lil guy unfortunately. If I did I’d sit this fur ball on a pedestal. Very accessible for zoologist scent. This chipmunk fella has some mass appeal to him.

This is one of my favourites for days when I’m at home, or hanging out in intimate settings, cuddling up with a loved one etc. As so many are saying, it’s very well blended, and doesn’t project like crazy, which is why I love it when I’m not trying to make a statement or stand out in a crowd. It’s very creamy and nutty on my skin, with a soft spice and woodiness to it that give it an intrigue that I love. Adorable, charming, cozy, and yummy.

Zoologist - Chipmunk (sample) A blast of hazelnut on fist spray, and I thought -Uggh! I'm not going to like this ... (WRONG!) Chipmunk becomes a very cozy and relaxing fragrance, The different notes blend beautifully and evoque the forest, earth, fruits, dried leaves. The hazelnut note is always there. This is understated elegance. The more I smell it, the more I like it. A great release by Zoologist, that's fast becoming a favorite of mine.

Vetiver (same kind in SJP Stash) Slightest touch of Aldehydes Dilly sandalwood (only a hint) Vanilla Tonka Cedar Cinnamon Nutmeg More sandalwood, but a different kind - the kind Samsara uses, it’s creamy It's slightly animalic, maybe a touch of castoreum, but the TINIEST bit. Similarities to Samsara EDP (bee version). Not a dupe, and more foresty feeling, but there are some strong similarities. Myrrh Cardamom Very dry nutty (not sweet)

I adore this fragrance! It is so warm, sweet and woody. It is unlike anything you have ever smelled before. I highly recommend getting a sample of this. I bought a 10 ml and will enjoy it very much. This is very easy to wear and enjoy. I would say mass appealing. (Unlike some of the houses other creations) I am surprised this doesn't garner more attention but I guess some things are better kept a secret.

(sample only) this funky. opening is woody and rich, it's beautiful - it's also like slightly sweet in a good way, more-ish. drying down becomes more like chestnuts still but it's spicy enough underneath to keep from being nasty. It's not a super strong scent but it's there, and it'll last enough. 9/10 - amazing scent, performance is not ideal but worth if the scent connects to you.

I am in love with this scent! Got it as complimentary sample from Zoologist when I was ordering other perfumes and turned out that I liked that more than my actual order and ended up getting bottle. Cozy, comforting, a little bit animalistic smell.It reminds me of farmhouse in early fall, faint smell of bonfire, herbal tinctures being prepared. A true gem!

This is how I imagine Snow White would smell. Cute animal fur, dense forest, slight nuttiness. To me this fragrance is an alternative to the typical innocent perfume. Innocence is usually equated to light florals and clean laundry, but this is innocent in a climbing trees, holding kittens, digging in the dirt way. A perfect autumnal fragrance as well.

When I first wore chipmunk I expected a sweeter fragrance, and as such I was briefly disappointed, but as it dried down I began to deeply appreciate it for what it is. As others have said, it truly does smell like I have been transported to cozy, autumnal woods - the wind blowing leaves from the trees and the sun just beginning to set. 8.5/10

This is a royalty in disguise. I perceive Zoologist perfumes as funky and quirky and would expect some superficial sweetness from scout chipmunk junior. But I was pleasantly surprised to get a complex wood composition with a pinch of spices and warm feeling. I enjoy it a lot but I just think that the image and content are unaligned here.

For a zoologist fragrance this is extremely wearable, although maybe not quite as quirky and unique as some of their other scents. Still, it's complex and interesting, simultaneously fresh spicy, warm spicy, nutty, woody and earthy, but all in a really chill way? If that makes sense?

I love this scent sm but it is too feminine for me. It is weird because when I think of a woody note I think it would be masculine but its not. It has a very sweet wood instead making it one of the more mass-appealing Zoologist. Overall its a very cute fragrance

I love this fragrance I blind bought it recently and was not disappointed. If you’re looking for sweetness there is zero in this its very hazelnut forward & woody, perfect for a fall or winter night 8.7/10

It smells like being a chipmunk inside the little tree house eating hazelnut very cozily during fall

Squirrel girl from marvel. Very woody, a cozy log cabin or a little shop tucked away in the Smoky Mountains. Quaint, lived-in, charming. Liminal, like a fleeting nostalgic memory. Maybe even hobbit-like. It smells a little more like a room than a person, but that’s completely fine by me. What stands out most to me: 1. cedar wood 2. oak/wood blended in there a little bit 3. vetiver grass/dirt ( in the sense of morning dew melting, a summer sun in high altitude mountains, warming up the woods of the trees, of the soil, and the dust. ) Instantaneously sends me back to childhood memories of being a scout. The artwork drawn for this perfectly captures exactly how the scent smells: a little girl scout in the woods. It’s not as strong as others from Zoologist, but I think that gives it a certain charm.. it’s light, gentle.. It’s like Fat Electrician in its vetiver-sweetness, but much stronger and woodier. My only hesitation with this scent is that my skin doesn’t hold onto vetiver scents for very long, despite loving them. Also, It feels somewhat out of sync with my fashion style, yet I am still so drawn to it. I thought that fragrance should match one’s outward appearance and personality, but Chipmunk challenges that for me... Highly considering buying a full bottle, but I haven’t made a final decision. EDIT: It also makes me think of the show Sweet Tooth.

Deep, rich, woody, earthy, dry. When I first sprayed this, I was expecting a very nutty scent, but it turned to be a slightly masculine leaning woody scent, that does have a sort of nutty 'roundness' to it, but it's a bit more subtle. There's also a lot of warmth and spice to it. I definitely think of a warm toned medium brown color with this. I was very excited for this release because I love fall, but it was a bit different than I expected, though it does make me think of cozying up in something warm outside on a chilly autumn day. The sillage is a bit lighter on this, projecting about maybe 5" of my skin, but it is still strong and there when you go in to hug someone. 40 minutes later, it's still rich and woody, but there's a sweetness that's creeped up over time that's been intriguing to me. I believe it's the benzoin and opoponax. Maybe some sweeter nuttiness as well. 1.5 hours later and it's a slightly sweet, dry, oud-y smell that's a skin scent. I'm not super into oud and I find it delightful. It's a bit more heavy and wintery and I keep going back to my arm to smell it. Very cozy and relaxing feeling. 7 hours later and it's basically gone. The last several hours it's been light enough that I'd forgotten I was wearing it, but the scent hadn't changed much

My initial thought was that this is what they said Angel Muse edp smelled like, but it doesn't, because they said it smelled like Nutella. Now, the quality in this in no way compares to the quality of Angel Muse edp, as Chipmunk is of a much better quality and is so well-blended. I had thought about AM edp because everyone went on about the hazelnut chocolate accord in AM edp, which I never got, and all I got was an overload of patchouli. What I get in Chipmunk is a that hazelnut accord right away! This is very nutty! I do get chocolately patchouli alongside the nuttiness. I'm experiencing some quality European dark chocolate and hazelnut dessert, which is being consumed in an forest of mixed woods. There is certainly a warm fur note, and animal notes are listed, but it's just a slight warmth, not a skank. Maybe a chipmunk stole your hazelnut chocolate and took it deep into to his warm, dark hideaway to eat it. Zoologist succeeded in creating the habitat of the Chipmunk in this perfume, with its mixed woods of oak and also pine and evergreen, forest floor of fallen leaves and some green plants here and there. There's an herbal note mixed with a sweet note that keeps me from falling in love completely, but this is a happy, cozy perfume for fall/winter.

I was a little nervous about trying this after seeing some reviews from disappointed Zoologist fans, but I'm very pleasantly surprised. Chipmunk is easy to like. It may not be the most challenging in the Zoologist line up but I don't think it's boring or generic. There's still a little bit of dirt and funk in this. Just a little, but enough. It's quite spicy but in a rounded, gentle way that gives the fragrance an overall warmth. Nutty, obviously. I get enough chamomile to make me feel like the sleepytime tea bear. A big time autumn scent, and there's nothing wrong with that. I like Fat Electrician a lot as well and I think they're quite different. FE is to me chestnut cream and a rubbery vetiver. There's a real push-pull dynamic which makes it unique. Chipmunk has a few of the same components but a totally different vibe.

I’m envious of chipmunks and the smells they get to live with if this perfume is any indication. A very pleasant, oily, unctuous, and nutty aroma surrounds the whole of the perfume that makes your mouth water. It’s not Nutella, it’s not sweet or confectionery, nor is it peanut butter, nor anything similar; roasted chestnuts and hazelnuts abound. They are bolstered by a guaiac and oak centric base that is noticeably yet mildly smokey and a touch vegetally sweet. Resinous notes of earth and animalics round them out in very nice proportions. Perhaps a touch simplistic and unmemorable, it is still quite good. Pleasant materials are handled well, delivering a very comfortable and gently addictive aroma for the pallet. Worth trying for sure, but not full bottle worthy for me. Still, I’m envious of chipmunks now.

i tried a sample of this and even tho it's more masculine than what i would typically wear..... i kinda like it idk!! i was so curious about this brand and i definitely will have to try some of their other popular ones bc this is really a pretty ingenious scent and so clever with it's choice of scent notes, it's really perfect for a perfume called chipmunk lol. for me what comes thru most is the balsam fir and hazelnut, but tbh i was expecting a less traditional scent and dont feel like this is very animalic at all. regardless, i find this to be a beautiful blend of earthy and slightly sweet and would for sure recommend this as a pretty safe buy for this brand if those types of woody and aromatic notes appeal to you

Soft, cute, and nutty as a chipmunk's snoot. Imagine a little critter sitting in cozy little room nested up high, dried leaves on the floor, nibbling at fresh hazelnuts at a table and sipping some tea which gently warms up the wood and air around it. Opening and initial wear is delightfully and distinctly hazelnut, but not sweet on me - it's pleasant and grounding. As it warms up on me, the amber, patchouli, and sandalwood round things out and it does become sweeter, and yes lightly animalic, but never to the point of being - at least in my opinion - full on funky or gourmand. Worth a sample for sure especially if you like nutty smells.
