I purchased a sample of this recently along with Bat (2020) and Musk Deer, expecting Musk Deer to be my favorite. Instead, Dodo 2 is the stand-out. My first sniff of a spray on some cotton gave me a rush that only a few other fragrances ever have – something truly joyous and vibrant. The pineapple, sage, cardamom and cumin are all vivid and natural-smelling, almost like you are burying your face into a huge bowl of a strange salad, crisp and inviting. Once it was on my skin, I found that different facets of Dodo 2 waxed and ebbed throughout the day, so that one moment I smelt all the tropicality of the fruit notes, then a bit later would smell the oak and cumin in a pungent and somewhat masculine mélange. The performance was, for me, just right: respectable-but-not-overpowering sillage and presence, with around 10 hours of projection and a longer intimate drydown. I was concerned that the fruit notes would be too sweet for me, but they are well-balanced and blent with the aromatics and base. Still, I think the fruitiness is what might keep me from wanting to own a full bottle, since it doesn't often suit my mood. I see that the cumin note is controversial – I personally love it, and I think it adds an edge of grunginess that suits a Zoologist release. I think this may be the new masterpiece of the Zoologist line, up there with Camel and T. Rex for me. The previous formulation was artistic and challenging, but not something I wanted to _wear_, or even smell for more than an hour or two. Wearing Dodo 2 is like taking vacation.

It's not beautiful, it's an experience. On my skin: At first it smelled like someone spilled their drink on me, a honey vermouth-y gin based cocktail. There's a real funk to this scent that is reminiscent of my B.O. and a competent floral scented deodorant battling each other to the death on a crowded dance floor. The funk is elevated with the scent of pine needles and sap. (maybe that's the rosemary?) Cheap body spray like Axe with surprisingly sophisticated notes of deep purple florals and overripe tropical fruits blend everything together. This scent on my skin smells like a hot drunk mess in the best kind of way; sugary shots dribbling down my chin mixing with the salt on my skin, hooking up in filthy bathroom stalls, making out on the dance floor, sweaty bodies grinding against each other in dark spaces filled with loud music. A sudden sobering burst of baby power erupts like the lights turning on when the club closes or the sunrise after a night of dancing and debauchery. The morning after is filled with hazy visions of the night before. There's no time to shower, the fresh application of a powdery deodorant harmonizes with last night's flesh frenzy. I search for my shoes, keys, gather whatever is left of my dignity and stumble my way home, dehydrated but happy. Would I wear this scent in public? Probably not. It would be too polarizing, possibly offensive. Would I forever keep a sample or a small bottle to relive my 20s? Hell yeah! It's memories in a bottle and I love it.

Ah! Dodo, my last Zoologist acquisition; the least liked and most polarizing scent of this (my) favorite house. On my skin Dodo begins with green fresh notes that quickly fade into the smell of perspiration, but pleasant perspiration, like clean sweat (the kind you get just after a shower in the middle of a Summer heat wave, or after sex sweat). This "sweat" is, however, more akin to overripe fruit (pineapple), ripe to the point of rotting (which I can only perceive when I put my nose to my skin, and not in the air). A very intriguing scent. Like a salty overripe fruit salad, strange but weirdly addictive. On my skin, this funky period lasts about 45 minutes. I don't think it smells horrible; it smells unusual but interesting, and I certainly don't get cat urine. The dry down is really interesting, as Dodo transforms into a refined and dense scent without the funky part, and it smells very good: fruity-resinous, peppery, spicy, woody, earthy, animalic, green. This is not a beast mode fragrance, and on my skin projection is moderate for about 2 hours, and then becomes a personal bubble. Longevity is around 8 hours. I really like this Dodo, Zoologist never disappoints (at least not me). As always, try before you buy, and in this particular case, let it reach the dry down.

  • em inglês

Love this! Dodo(2020 version) is my second favorite Zoologist! (Civet the top) The black currant buds in this is so delicious realistic and mixes great with the cumin. Very different and I just can ́t stop sniffing the cap on my sample, addicting! For me saying these ammoniac blackcurrant buds smells something like ammoniac catpiss is like saying that rotten bananas tastes like strawberry ice cream just because both tastes kinda sweet and fruity. But I guess I am good at differentiating black currant smells as I have picked those berries my entire childhood and it is one of my favorite notes in perfumes. Might end up with a full bottle of this in the future, but right now I am passing for three reasons. 1 Many seems to really hate this so maybe I can only wear it at home alone. 2. I love how this smells but I feel for the price of this the scent seems a bit simple and not as complex as I would like. 3. I already have a wonderful blackcurrant scent. Omanluxurys Wanderlust is all about blackcurrant. But more the leafs than the buds and mixed with olibanum instead of cumin. And not just me, but also others seems to love that one(after the sharp opening)

  • em inglês

I'm reading that this perfume was discontinued recently which is a shame because it's the most interesting and compelling sample I've tried from Zoologist yet. Just my luck, everything weird that I like goes away.... This opens with the rosemary, bergamot, and clary sage setting the scene for a masculine scent, but then opens into a glorious chorus of RIPE juicy tropical fruit as soon as it hits warm skin. It continues to evolve: giving way to hints of musk, spicy herbs, and slight woody notes. I did not experience the 'cat-piss' notes that others complained about, and I am very glad for that. I think some people complaining about sulfur notes aren't remembering that the ripest tropical fruits have a definite 'funk' to them, and that just adds character and depth to the scent imho. Definitely a warm-weather scent, the more humid out the better. Feels like crunching through steamy tropical undergrowth.

  • em inglês

Zoologist seem to create scents that have a challenging opening that transforms into something pleasant in the dry down. Dodo is strange yet familiar. The opening blast of Dodo is incredibly sharp and screechy. Perhaps to evoke the cry of the bird? It is high pitched and jolting; so loud that it might work as an alarm to wake you up. The screechiness of the blackcurrant is further amplified by the cumin note which gives the scent a sweaty, pissy quality. I believe these two notes are the most prominent, and somehow manages to create an animalic composition with just vegetal notes? It stays cranked up for a long time and eventually settles into an Aventus like fruity pineapple-y green cologne. You could say it smells ‘lived-in’. Less is more with a scent like Dodo. I think those who like classical animalic fougere like Kouros would probably find this easier to approach than most.

  • em inglês

The opening smells like Black currant. No really.. exactly like fresh black currant that is currently growing in a garden. Me personally? I love it. Reminds me of how they used to smell in my grandmas garden. I don't smell any urine or B.O. just black currant. After roughly three hours I can't smell anything on myself, but the people around me told me I smelled grassy, nature like in a good way. Very addictive opening that quickly fades unfortunately, making it a light scent for the summer. This one you really wear for yourself and not for others

  • em inglês

Saw mention that this beauty may be getting discontinued, so I immediately went to their website and snatched one up. This is a very challenging fragrance, so it certainly won't be everyone's cup of tea. Personally, I get a thrill from what a fascinating sensory experience it is. I've seen people who like to compare perfumes to works of fine art: I would say that Dodo's fine art counterpart is Da Vinci's Study of Five Grotesque Heads. It is not pretty... yet somehow it is beautiful in its grotesqueness. That is incredible art.

  • em inglês

I love it but it took a while. Hyper masculine fern smell. It feels and smells like a Fouger done the (old) Zoologist way. I get the BO complains, got me in the beginning BUT once I got over it i finally started LOVEING IT. Ripe fruit, Green ferns, Hyper masculine smell, 10h on my skin and room filling projection the first hour. I don’t really wear it, cus my gf HATES this with a passion but i always smell it, at least once a day. Try smelling it without thinking of BO, you are gonna LOVE THIS ONE!!!!

  • em inglês

The opening to this is a weapon. A urinous, sweaty, and vegetal weapon against any who would dare come within a 5 foot radius. It reminds me of weedeating in the hot sun for hours on end--past the point of dehydration, and then hitting up a public men's restroom with no AC. I love this and I hate it. It's so stinky, so unique, so green, and so... unpleasant. Yet I still love it. Eventually it calms down and I get a lovely, fruity lavender. What a trip.

  • em inglês

I was so scared to try this because of the previous reviews. Once, I tried it, I was faced with pineapple. Pineapple is the number one note I smell. I set a timer waiting for the dreaded "cat pee" smell. However, it never arrived. I absolutely do not smell cat pee with this scent. I sprayed my husband and waited for it. It never arrived on him. This is a beautiful scent to MY nose.

  • em inglês

I bought a 65% full bottle off of someone because I love zoologist and I heard this was really bad so I was curious (blind bought it) and it just came in so here are my thoughts (tester strip only. I’ll test on skin and come back to give a proper review). The opening is beautifully herbal and fruity. But not those synthetic nose-stinging fruits, it smells like authentic ripe fruit right from a tree. It’s a little peppery and very aromatic, but not animalic or challenging at all (to MY nose.) the cumin is not nearly as pronounced or as “bad” as people say it is. To be honest, this smells like if someone went on a short walk in humid weather with a lot of Old Spice Fiji deodorant on. In fact, it kind of just smells like old spice Fiji, just higher quality and more interesting with that added cumin and aromatics. Maybe it will smell a lot more armpit-y on my skin, but right now this is actually one of my favorite zoologists. Edit: I’ve had it on skin for a while, and here are my thoughts; the cumin is more prominent on skin, but it doesn’t smell like a sweaty armpit like people are saying. It really does have an armpit vibe, but it’s like the smell of a half-used old spice Fiji deodorant. (Yes, specifically that deodorant) So dodo smells like juicy pineapple, aromatic ferns, and a spicy cumin. Not animalic, not stinky to my nose, not nearly as challenging as something like T-Rex, Bee, Hyrax, or moth. This is completely wearable to me. However, I am both cursed and Lucky. It seems I’m one of few to enjoy this scent, but I asked my mom and my brother what they thought it smelled like, and both said armpits (seperate rooms, seperate times, so it wasn’t coordinated.) therefore, I won’t be able to wear this in public because I don’t want other people to think I’m dirty 😂 anyways, personal rating is an 8.4/10 for smell, and 9/10 for creativity. Mass appeal is a 2/10. My final rating is ~8.85/10

This one is a stinker. But in a good way!... Well, I suppose that’s all relative isn’t it. The opening is bracingly hesperidic and green woody from ample doses of bergamot and petitgrain. Green herbal elements and pepper immediately join the almost obnoxiously bright opening before cumin comes in like cannon fire. This is a big cumin note, and it is not shy with its oily, salty, and funky characteristics. In combination with touches of sweetness from the fruit and the nose-tingling pepper... yes, it does come across as quite body-odor/salty-sweaty like. Or, like a really, really swampy vetiver. I have no problem believing that this is a bit tough for some to handle, but I didn’t have a problem with it. There are enough green, fruit, and woody components at work that the sum is greater than any one individual part. In finality we get a pretty standard fougere, which is about the only thing I would say is a letdown for Dodo. It’s well done with plenty of green patchouli, mosses, and musk; clean and easily wearable in a classic masculine sense, but it’s certainly lackluster compared to what was driving the perfume prior to the dry down. All in all, Dodo is a solid perfume that ventures a bit into left field for something a bit daring but not uncomfortable or overly challenging. I haven’t a clue what this has to do with the dodo bird. What a weird animal, with a tragic extinction story, to choose for inspiration for what is actually a fairly commonplace and un-tragic perfume.

  • em inglês

Tropical funk! The original Dodo was one of the only OG Zoologists too challenging to wear, along with Hyrax. Where Hyrax is fecal-by-design, Dodo brought the urine. So I sprayed this new one on with that adrenaline-filled, fighting-your-own-instincts feeling you have when talking yourself into eating something strange ... like you finally got a seat at that Michelin-starred restaurant and the first thing they serve you is pigeon-kidney pie. And then a moment of panic, as the tangy-sour blend hit my nose and I just knew I’d be sobbing in the shower trying to wash off all that urine again while promising myself this was really the last time I’d do this to myself, for real this time. But then it resolves into less challenging notes and the panic subsides - tart petitgrain atop overripe tropical fruit and just a hint of the earthy jungle floor. It reminds me of the “tropical-flavoured” antibiotic liquid I had to force down as a kid. There’s something attractive about this jungle funk. I feel like I’d wear it with a “weirdest guy at the tropical resort” kinda energy. And that is, admittedly, sometimes my vibe. Perfect soundtrack: Mike Cooper’s Rayon Hula.

  • em inglês

Update: My prior review hasn’t changed, but seeing the reactions from my friends and family has told me that this is not a perfume to wear anywhere. I wear it when I’m alone and just chilling, but anywhere else will offend people. I still love it though

  • em inglês

Yeah there’s a lot of cumin here. I get what some people say that it reminds them of sweat. That’s a very nice smell but quite unwearable because lots of people will think you’re sweaty :D So. Great to test and sniff, not gonna buy

  • em inglês

this smells like basil and durian... sometimes I like it and sometimes I don't but it's definitely interesting

  • em inglês

Some of these reviews are absolutely hilarious to read, and could be quite off-putting to anyone considering trying this. Be that as it may, I got myself a sample and I'm here to document my experience. There's a lot of dis-hype about this scent, so I'll try my best to offer a balanced perspective here. Upon spraying this on paper, I was fully prepared for it to smell like a compost bin full of fruit scraps based upon the reviews. Thankfully, it did not. Instead, I was pleasantly surprised to get a lot more greenness than anticipated with something dry and peppery bringing freshness to the party. It honestly smelled like a fresh and clean green soap, quite masculine but not offensive by any means. After some time it settled down into a what you'd typically expect from a masculine green scent, without coming across too "old man" as Polo Green. I sprayed it on my skin the next day and things got interesting. The weather is quite cool here, so keep in mind that I would expect this review to change if you live somewhere more hot and humid-- I'm curious to repeat this test in summer. Something about my chemistry pulled out a LOT more of the earthy, smoky and woody flavours of the fragrance which transformed it into some much more dark and grassy compared to the fresh greenie I had experienced on paper. There's a note of wet hay in there somewhere. Honestly, it's ok. It reminds me a lot of what Polo Green smelled like on my body, and I didn't really dig the vibe. That doesn't mean it's bad, but it's just not for me. Thankfully, I have made enough correct decisions in my life to have never experienced the stench of ripe cat piss. However, if I'm being honest and concentrate hard enough, I can understand how the flavours can mix together to make something slightly urinal cakey. Is it weird to say that I don't mind it though? Ultimately, if it had remained the fresh and brighter greenie that I got just on paper, then I think I honestly would have considered a bottle. However the dark masculine green scents just aren't my vibe. Because of this, I rate it just ok and wouldn't knock getting a sample for those curious.

Eating pineapple while sitting on a pile of sweaty gym bags next to a rosemary bush. I see what people mean when they say this smells like sweat or cat piss. When I go to the gym and I forget my towel I *have* to lay down on the bench press. A bench press with pleather that has everyone's congealed sweat :( When I shower at home afterwards I catch a really strong smell of it and have to scrub it off my back. This perfume somehow manages to capture that exact scent. On paper it's very similar to it and incredibly gross, though on my skin it that sweat note comes across as a weird funk (it smells more like cumin!). Over that grossness there's the really sweet, sour and sticky pineapple. After an hour the rosemary starts to creep up and it adds a lot this experience. I feel like the dimension it gives makes this perfume enjoyable as the opening by itself is incredibly one-note. After a few more hours the lavender comes in too and the funk becomes a nice subtle bitter note (I think this is the basil). This stage is my favorite in this perfume and I wish this is how it'd open. I can't see anyone justifying wearing this for 2-3 hours to get to the "good part" for outerwear, and smelling it doesn't evoke any feelings or memories in me so I can't really see why anyone would wanna buy this. That being said I don't find it as offensive as the majority of reviewers here. I wish they'd try it on skin before they judge!

  • em inglês

I’ve been super apprehensive to try this one, based on reviews. It was a Saturday, and I headed into work for a supplemental shift, so I decided to gamble and take it for a spin. First impression was a big blast of cumin and patchouli--two of my least favorite notes in fragrances. While not a scrubber, it was far from the best first impression. Shortly after, I start to pick up on some muted pineapple, and a bit of an herbal accord (rosemary / sage), and the cumin softens considerably. Ohhhhh... black currant--you (often skanky) bastard. I can see why, particularly in this fragrance, you are often interpreted as being urine-like. Thankfully, that doesn’t last for long, and it softens back out. As it dries down, I get a mental image of Si Passione and TF’s Beau De Jour wrestling each other for dominance, and Beau De Jour wins. Because of its fougere resemblance, I’d say this leans a touch more masculine than truly unisex. Longevity was pretty good, detectable for a solid 8-9 hours. Projection was moderate for a little over half of the wearing, detectable at arms length for the first 4-5 hours. While not my favorite of the Zoologists, it was not nearly as bad as the ratings would have had me believe. Current Ranking: Beaver > Sloth > (Squid?) > Koala > Hummingbird > Elephant > Panda > Macaque (Yuzu) > Chameleon > Nightingale > Dodo

  • em inglês

First blast of piercingly sweet pineapple with a warm spiced wood underneath... wow. Musky sweet while warm and spicy at the same time. It's like a pineapple Jolly Rancher that turns into fruit salad served in a warm wood bowl. After a minute, the classic lavender sage combo starts to bloom and tones down the overly sweet fruit notes in the opening and I start to get a faint curry note right at the very back of my nose. Fascinating! Eager to see how this performs in the drydown. Projection is pretty much skin level; unisex and I think would be suitable for all weather as long as one doesn't go too heavy in the summer. The sweetness could easily turn cloying. 6+ hours later: The scent settled on a powdery soft all around sweetness, not particularly fruity during the drydown. Faint. 12+ hour later: I again wore the shirt I was wearing when I tested this one and hoooooooooooo boy! I now understand the revulsion towards this scent. On my skin this was lovely but on my clothes it was straight up BO stank. Downgrading my like to okay.

  • em inglês

Dodo 2020 is an unusual scent but by no means unwearable. It goes through four stages. The immediate opening is a bit challenging with a BO scent. This gives way quickly to a scent composed of the following four impressions: green foliage, ripe tropical fruit, spicy and creamy. This stage is actually quite nice but unfortunately only lasts about 2 hours. After this stage, the best way I can describe it is that it smells like vegetable soup. Perhaps only the green and spicy components remain. Dodo approaches the final stage as it gets significantly weaker and retreats to an intimate skin scent. At this point, the spiciness is gone and it's more like a creamy green foliage scent. Performance is moderate all the way around. Dodo is a unisex fragrance or maybe leans slightly male. It's on the lighter side and would work better for warmer days of spring, summer or fall. To sum up, wearable, but just meh or just OK. Different but doesn't really impress me.

  • em inglês

Dodo smells like Tarzan just emerged from the rainforests of the Pacific Northwest, and he hasn’t showered. I get a sharp, distinct, and hyper-masculine scent of ferns and yes, as others have said before, a whiff of body odor underneath the green brush. At first spray, I wanted to say that this smells like a men's shower gel on steroids but, nah, there ain't a shower gel in the world that's this bold. This is an extremely challenging fougère, and it’s almost primal in a manner. It smells dirty the same way that raw sex would - as if you’ve been romping around on the green forest floor with a sweat-covered brute. Do I want to smell like this? No. Do I admire its artistic force? Yes. In five words or less: Ripe armpits in pungent forests.

  • em inglês

Strangely I get none of the cumin or other unsavory notes from this. Usually cumin makes itself very recognizable on my skin, but not here. To me, it is exclusively a mentholated black currant fragrance with some green fringes. In Europe you can often find “cassis” (black currant) flavored gum and this smells identical to it. It’s not that I find this particularly unpleasant, yet I’m nevertheless disappointed with the reformulation as I believe the original Dodo captured the essence of the animal perfectly and this version no longer has any relation to its concept whatsoever. I luckily snapped up a remaining bottle of the original and will cherish it.

  • em inglês

This is a challenging wear, smells like an ancient jungle but I dont hate this as much as others do. The cumin and black currant blast at the beginning can be off putting and focusing on it makes it kinda pissy but it calms over time to reveal more of a photorealistic overripe fruit on the ground type smell. There’s a slight green freshness but is buried beneath the fruit and dirty smell. That opening is pretty strong but after maybe half an hour it becomes a skin scent for 4 hours don’t think I would ever come back to this

  • em inglês

An extremely green, realistic, and dirty scent. I love green scents but it honestly smells a bit like body odour or sweaty armpit. Evergreen is not listed but it has a nostalgic effect from growing up around a coniferous forest. This effect multiples once it dries down when the woody notes become more prominent. The Black Currant has that cat piss' effect. Get the jackfruit edition if you don't like the stank

  • em inglês

The cumin note is very strong for the first hour or two. Dodo dries down to just a soft niceness.

  • em inglês

Born to Mauritian parents, having lived for some years in Mauritius myself, I was excited to sample a perfume inspired by a creature only ever found there. Initially, this was a rather pretty tropical concoction, heavy on passionfruit, pineapple and honey. Upon drydown, Dodo resolved into something rather undecided: green, but also woody, and also aquatic, not unlike seawater. I also thought I could detect a hint of something vaguely animalic beneath, but wasn't sure. At this point, my husband walked into the room, paused two arms' lengths away and commented on how tropical and nice it smelled. BUT THEN. It happened. The scent morphed. The dreaded cat piss effect took hold. I have to admit, it actually didn't smell too awful to me—I have another perfume I can't wear because the cat piss effect is dreadful and immediate; this was quite mild in comparison—but when I walked by my husband he scrunched up his face. (This is a man normally unmoved by unpleasant smells.) Naturally, I shoved my wrist under his nose and demanded, "Does this smell like cat pee to you?" His eyes widened and he said, emphatically, "YES. Ugh." Then he made another face, so I went to scrub it off. It did linger a touch, even after soap and scrubbing, so it's pretty powerful stuff. Maybe I'll try it again when he's at work to see if a few hours' wear improves it, but as it is, I won't be wearing it anywhere I might encounter human company for fear of smelling like an ambulatory litter box.

  • em inglês

Whenever I read that something smells like "cat pee" I laugh. Every nose is different and we first pick up or detect whatever we're more familiar with. I've owned cats since I was a child, so I'm very familiar with "cat pee" and today I got a sample of Dodo with a Zoologist purchase (Cow) and I just sprayed it on my left hand. I laughed so so hard because the first thing my nose picked up was cat pee. The most absolutely realistic cat pee note I've ever smelled. Now, after the big LOL, I tried to take it more seriously. I can really pick up the rosemary, very green and aromatic, like when you touch a rosemary leaf and crush it between your fingers, that smell that lingers on your skin for almost hours and the cumin. Basil and petitgrain take a big place in this too, so is all very green and aromatic. The problem is that the Rosemary-Cumin-Basil combo is not very flattering on the skin, on mine at least, although the cat pee smell went away. Now I'm left with the feeling of having rubbed every aromatic plant on my grandma's kitchen... at least Dodo smells very natural and, as other have said, it's like a journey, truly not for everyone. I don't hate it, but won't be getting a FB either.

  • em inglês

It does smell like I tried really hard not to smell bad after working out. Like, I showered before, I put on deodorant, I put scented powder in my socks to try to make them not stink. But then I worked out, changed clothes, and now I have these dirty gym clothes that smell of pineappley flowery shampoo and deodorant, but also under that scent is sweaty body odor. And maybe I peed a little in the underwear? While it has an aspect of it that does small bad, it does also smell good. It's that weird note that makes me keep smelling it. Sometimes that weird note is a good thing, like in Sloth, but this weird note is mostly just unpleasant. A minor kinda gross note. The dry down is pretty nice, of it wasn't for that one weird note. I'm glad I sampled it, I feel like I learned a lot about cumin and black currant. I did use a very light touch with this, and I'm glad I did.

  • em inglês

I'm one of the few who loved the original Dodo and was just about to pick up a full bottle when they announced the new formulation. I was worried I would be torn on which to get, but I can confidently say I am not. I will be getting the original. This one is definitely more tropical and sweeter, probably largely due to the pineapple. And I think the sweetness combined with the cumin makes me read sickly-sweet, even though I don't think it's actually THAT sweet. But like @nerolyan, the cumin really completely throws it for me. This is probably an over-exaggeration and selling this fragrance too short, but picture a middle-school kid who hasn't yet realized he needs to shower every day now and has just been doused in his "girlfriend's" body spray.

  • em inglês

'Dodo' (2020) opens very herbal and almost vegetal. I get the basil and rosemary right away. The opening is one of the most challenging I've experienced, with a heavy dose of cumin and and blackcurrant. It's certainly unusual and not something everyone will enjoy. Most people might give up at this stage because of how pungent and dirty it smells. I definitely understand the funky, sweaty body odor association that others are getting. As 'Dodo' dries down, the pineapple really enhances on my skin. While the green aspects remain, the resemblance to a classic fougère appears. It becomes more manageable in the dry down, leaving a pleasant fruity and green scent.

  • em inglês

This is the 2020 reformulated Dodo. It has a strong funky opening with grapefruit and spoiled fruits; although this dissipates after 10-15 minutes, for me it is quite unpleasant. Then soft lavender floral dry down, pleasant but not that unique. I gave it 5/10 overall. Whereas the original Dodo was a 5/10 to me all the way through, this version is more like 3/10 at first then 6/10 after half an hour but still 5/10 overall. I gave away the sample as I really just cannot get past that opening smell.

  • em inglês

Dodo smells like armpit, like sweat, body odor. It is so realistic, that at first I thought the smell is coming from my own armpit. Terrible idea for a blind buy. I don’t think it is appropriate to wear in public. Masculine. I can’t imagine woman wants to smell like 100% sweat. Might be a good perfume for sexual encounter. Hyrax and Dodo is absolutely no for me. I appreciate creativity, but it is not wearable (unlike bat, Hamelion, Trex, Nightingale etc) I love Chamelion and want a full bottle.

On my skin this smells like citrus with a heavy addition of sweat (not mine, lol). It's very strong and I don't believe it's wearable. The Jackfruit edition is definitely something else and should be purchased instead of this one. I kind of think the regular Dodo should be discontinued at this point. The dry down of it is serving me unwashed socks, definitely not a good blend.

(2/5) First thoughts "musky mens cologne, rotting fruit, cat pee". After a little while I could really pick up the basil and lavender base notes....this was a weird one for me because I both liked and disliked it at the same time. If I close my eyes and smell it, it does bring images of ferns or a damp forest floor. It's not terrible but not for me.

This Zoologist Fragrance is such a strong fruity B.O. Smell I find it genuinely amazing! I Have to show all my friends that know fragrances! I can not stress this enough, DO NOT blind buy this fragrance. The dry down does get better but it is not for me.

It smells like a dank, sour armpit that someone tried to mask with herbs and citrus. The B.O. effect seems to wear off as time goes on, but it's still there, haunting you like a ghost.

This is the most photorealistic cat piss I've ever felt in my entire life. I mean, if that was the perfumer's intention, he deserved a trophy for that. Pure and simple cat piss!

What the ... ?! The opening of this is, frankly, an abomination against nature. Seconds after spraying it on, I was bombarded by the unmistakable odor of stale cat urine. Yes, all the other reviews mentioning cat piss are 100% accurate. Imagine walking into the home of the proverbial cat lady. It's dark. It's dingy. There are cats everywhere. And the SMELL. You know the smell. If you close your eyes, you can smell it as you read this. That's the smell of Dodo Edition 2020. Dear, God ... why?! Who in their right mind thought it was a good idea to sell this?! If I try hard enough, I can pick up some of the individual notes. There's definitely some pineapple (that's been sitting out in the sun so long that even the flies no longer want anything to do with it). Basil? Cumin? Rosemary? There in the most vulgar, unappetizing way. Okay, okay. Fine. This does eventually calm down a bit (assuming you don't scrub it off immediately) and becomes something mildly less nauseating. But even then that cat urine lingers like a bad ghost you just can't exorcise. Don't repeat my mistake. Just stay away from this -- FAR away. (In all honesty, I picked up a sample of this based on the reviews of the previous version of Dodo. Clearly I need to pay more attention next time.) Note: Longevity, sillage, gender, and value are irrelevant as no one should wear or buy this. Ever.

I like Zoologist, so I ignored the reviews. Here’s the 100% truth. It’s opening is equal parts Juicy Fruit and Cat Piss But If you let it dry down, you’re greeted with a fragrance that is now mostly Cat Piss with a hint of left over Juicy Fruit from under a desk. I. Am. Not. Kidding. I’m BLOWN AWAY they made this. If you ignore this review, you deserve what’s coming. What’s even crazier? Dodo Jackfruit is PERFECT and smells nothing like this. Why on earth they would resurrect the Dodo name when they share zero DNA is beyond me. I literally threw the testing in the dumpster so no one could ever spray this in public. I skipped my trashcan for fear a homeless person might find it and try to use it to “freshen up” and instead smell worse. It’s literally unfair to them. THAT is how trash this is.

My review is based on a test spray I did on some tissue, not an actual wearing. Dodo may smell different when it interacts with body chemistry and heat. However, I was very put off by the test spray, and I don't think I will actually ever wear this. When sprayed, I get a strong smell of pineapple salsa -- with heavy onion. The salsa-ness of Dodo would be fine, because it's fresh, aromatic, and fruity while not being overly sweet. The onion is what kills this perfume for me. I cannot smell Dodo without thinking of body odor. Dodo is also a smell that lingers -- the test tissue sat briefly on my bag before I threw it out, but my bag smelled like onion body odor for an hour after that.

My boyfriend walked into my apartment the other day and immediately said, "Did the cat piss somewhere??" We spent several minutes searching before realizing that the smell was, in fact, me. That being said, it did encourage us to shower together in a mad attempt to wash the stink off, so in that sense I suppose it's still quite a sexy scent. Unfortunately the ammonia piss note is present regardless of whether it's sprayed on the skin or on clothing, so I won't be going back to this one. NOT a safe blind buy, but most people shouldn't be blind buying most fragrances anyway.

Did the dodo go extinct because they actually smelled like this? Recent studies of their oversized beaks have suggested they had an acute sense of smell–were they so offended by their own species, they refused to mate? Zoologist’s Dodo smells like screeching black currant cat pee, cheap body spray over unwashed teenager, and fresh basil. For way too long. Eventually settles to fruit salad with herb dressing tinged with feather musk–but unlike Snowy Owl, it’s not cute downy fluff, it’s molting fowl. Fairly permanent on cotton.

I've tried enough Zoologist samples to know that they usually start off very different from what they end up smelling like, but I had to wash this one off. I didn't smell cat pee (maybe I didn't get that far!), I got a strong rotten-fruity-carrion odor that smelled almost exactly like durian. It was a shame, because I could also smell some of the nicer notes like the basil and pineapple, but the nasty overtones were just overpowering. I tried the 2020 version; maybe the jackfruit one is less stinky!

I received a sample two days ago. Dodo 2020 definitely is in the same range as the original Dodo, but in a much more refined way. Strongest notes in here for me are basil, sage, oakmoss, geranium, lavender. This has a slight barbershop feel to it. Problem for me is the cumin. I don't get why cumin is still put in fragrances; it ruins it all for me. Thirty mins in and I smell like I have B.O. But I must say, if you don't mind cumin this fragrance is interesting. Very perky and unique.

Got a complimentary sample of Dodo with the latest discovery set. Since it didn’t specify which Dodo I got, I had to match up the notes and the nose to the information here to figure out the Dodo I got is Dodo 2020. So much setup led to only few minutes of Dodo 2020 on my skin. I understand this could develop into something different... but I can’t get past the B.O. City & had to stub it off. Wouldn’t you know the scrubbing action actually even enhanced the B.O. effect??

Dodo 🦤 OMG 😳 this was a shock. Opens with bergamot, rosemary and a huge blast of basil 🌿. Starts off very very green and then im thinking oh no this smells like really bad body odour 🤢. Its really bad and its quite strong stuff. Wife made me wash it off around the 3 hour mark and sillage was quite noticeable. First time in a long time I've had to wash a fragrance off .

I don't wash things off very often, I like to sit with them for a few hours. Opening intrigued me for a few minutes, I smelled some of the herbiness of the sage and the sweetness of the pineapple, but then it turned to cat urine in about 20 minutes and I could not stand it. Glad I only have a sample size.

This scent was the most unlikeable of all the zoologists to me (noting that I’ve smelled all of them up to this point except Hyrax). Straight up body odor mixed with some rotting herbs and fruit. Very offensive to both my nose and my boyfriends nose and I see no world in which this could be wearable
