Dragonfly Edition 2021

I got the base notes in less than an hour. I'm not sure if that is quick when it comes to this brand or not. I'm also not complaining because it smells very good! It is much warmer than the opening. The opening of Dragonfly, like everyone else has said, is very aquatic and ozonic. I get fresh rain water mixed with fresh Green florals. The opening is also very nice! As I sit here right now, the two cannot be any more different. What I'm experiencing now is a warm and slightly sweet cashmere and dry flour of some kind. Yes, there are still traces of freshness once it sits on your skin for about an hour, but certainly not as much as the opening. To my surprise, I actually really like this Fragrance! Yes this brand is not for the beginner. I don't think any of the fragrances from this house can be considered an easy wear whatever that means. Dragonfly, very similar to other fragrances from this brand, is more about the aromatic journey than it is about attracting a partner. This is for you to enjoy personally. I'm sure you will get compliments regardless, but this is not a Fragrance for that particular reason. I considered this a piece of art. Not everyone will understand and not everyone will appreciate. For those who do, it is a no-brainer whether or not to purchase. This is full bottle worthy in my opinion. One more thing before I go, when I say something is sweet, I prefer it a bit subtle. Bee is too much for me. Dragonfly has a sweetness that is much more refined and I think is done better. I hope that helps you in someway.

'Dragonfly' is reminiscent of a peaceful koi pond during a light drizzle of rain. I can really picture this environment, with water lilies floating by as the droplets fall on the surface. It's less sweet/fruity-smelling than the original interpretation, but equally as interesting to my nose. A light, aquatic floral vibe carries throughout the fragrance; almost transparent, but not fully. However, this is not to say it's similar to 'Snowy Owl' or 'Beaver,' because it stands apart from all other releases I've smelled. The starchy rice note is very noticeable on my skin (just as in the older version), which retains the unique edge that Zoologist is known for. A hint of powdery smell from the orris root. 'Dragonfly' develops a lot toward the far dry down into something almost completely different from the opening (more of the oakmoss and possibly tonka), and I'm loving the journey. It performs delicately and pretty soft for me so far. I'll admit I do miss the purple juice color, but that's a personal preference.

I once heard someone describe Dragonfly as what Claude Monet’s, “The Water Lily Pond,” would smell like. It’s a beautifully accurate way to describe this fragrance. The light and fragile wings of a dragonfly, the clear ponds teeming with green lush life. There’s hints of Earth, soil, and that comforting musky skin-like scent with a touch of bright breezy green that keeps it light and fresh. I do not get any hints of floral in this fragrance as the notes may state, but there’s plenty of life nonetheless. A delicate life- something that plays in between air and water. This by far is the most wearable Zoologist fragrance for me, as I live in a tropical climate where it is hot and humid all year long. This fragrance lightens the humid curtain of my world and gives me tranquility. Who wouldn’t want that?

This is one of my favorite frags idc idc. Like seriously, a beautiful composition. I love it. It is more a fragrance i wear just like around the house or a spray or two before bed because it doesn't last forever or have a massive projection, sits close to the skin and it is a beautiful journey.... the bitter grapefruit, basil, ginger are sharp and fresh on the opening, floral mids and mossy base notes also hit you all at once... and then it mellows into a smooth watery floral. It is crisp, clean... some say masculine leaning, which i understand, because of the ginger and overall composition but i feel like it is unisex when you stop to analyze it - floral and watery notes shine when the ginger/grapefruit fades away. I think my favorite part is the mossy base. It is so well balanced.

Wow I was NOT expecting to like this one as much as I did since my experience with most freshies is just that they're either screechy or pleasant but a lot like everything else in the genre. In the warm weather, this was like a breath of fresh air. Angelica is one of my favourite notes in perfume and I definetly got a bit of that along with the grapefruit in the opening. Throughout the composition I got this almost oily green stem clorophyl type scent accompanied by a watery peltrichor and soft aquatic (kind of purple) florals. It is damp but light and airy and has a crazy longevity... when I got out of the shower in the evening I was wondering what product I used to smell so good until I realized that it was still the dragonfly perfume I sprayed in the morning.

I love this fragrance, I really prefer slightly earthier, watery florals like this. It’s floral for sure but isn’t overwhelming sweet. It’s very subtle, and is toned down by a lot of the other ingredients, like the rice and basil. The rice gives it a very smooth smell and it does smell to me like you are siting in a bunch of flowers and greenery near a pond where dragonflies might be flying overhead. I don’t get too much of the watery rain notes, but by the end of the day I could definitely smell the cashmere, and the florals had really toned down. I think this is a great perfume for someone who wants a floral fragrance, but doesn’t want it to be too much sweetness right in your face, and likes a little bit of an earthier, herbal scent as well.

I have samples of some of the Zoologist fragrances and this is one of the most wearable. Like some of the reviewers here said, it has that designer fragrance feel to it. But this smells a bit more complex. It's floral with a very prominent spicy note. I can't really smell the rice but rice has a subtle smell so I'm assuming it contributes to the translucency of the scent. This is very floral but not heavy, not sweet, not cloying. I sometimes get headaches with uber floral scents but this one I enjoyed very much. It's beautiful actually. Didn't appreciate this when I tried it alongside other Zoologist fragrances. But when I went back to it a few weeks later and tried it again, I was surprised that I liked it.

For some reason I seem to be at odds with Zoologist reviewers because I love this fragrance and it's not getting enough of that. Maybe I'm biased because after doubting it I went to the lake for rowing and this blended so beautifully on my arm with the wetness of the lake and trees and moss on the dock, clumped on rocks, green shoots and reeds - it seemed to bring out only the best of all of that - my damp shirt, wooden oar in hand, white flowers near the shore. Or perhaps I'm biased because the namesake, dragonfly, is a beautiful creature and it hunts mosquitos, my nemesis in this wet Summer. I wonder what a mosquito would smell like... blood, swollen flesh, an ugly black smear. This is the antidote.

Bought a tester of this and I can say I’ve already fallen in love with it. I’ve had it on for about 7 hours now, and the way it’s settled on to my skin is beautiful. It says there’s rain notes in the base but I feel like I got that more with the opening, the cashmere and tonka bean is definitely present though. When I first smelt it I was reminded of woodland and ponds on a rainy day, and after it settles there’s a comforting aspect to it. I would say there’s a complexity to it, but it’s not strange by any means and it’s absolutely wearable, it’s a perfect scent for spring time and it’s right up my alley. I’m going to be investing in a full bottle for sure.

What a fragrant surprise🤩😄 I am IN LOVE with how green/lightly floral this scent is. It smells like fragrant freshly cut citrus clovers but that iris grasping your attention! The base notes have this dewy moss essence to it. I really want this to be my signature scent, but I say it would be best for spring and summer months (ETA: smells like white floral secondskin after a few hours). Definitely encapsulates the essence of a dragonfly. Sillage is within arms length, and the longevity is there. This brand has really pushed the limits of fragrance and I would say truly a one of a kind perfumery. Zodiac Trio ⬆️ Aquarius ☀️Pisces 🌜Taurus

This truly reminds me of my back-country paddling trips across Ontario lakes. Shallow parts of some lakes, usually created by beaver dams, are full of water lilies and dragonflies. To me this one also has a bit grassy/earthy note, similar to what Bat (2020) has in it. I can't say I'm in love with it, but it's definitely a nice fragrance. I think I enjoy it more than previous iteration of it, as that one reminded me of a laundry detergent. This version manages to stay more realistic and authentic. Probably wouldn't buy it myself, but definitely would be happy to receive one as a gift.

this is a quiet lake, a dragonfly’s home, hidden behind a grove of rice fields and lined with water lilies; this opens watery, fresh, and aldehydic with bright citrus and sweet florals. then comes a powdery, sweetly starchy air enveloping more fresh and airy florals. the dry down is musky, creamy, yet still fresh and airy with spring florals close to skin and watery accords making this feel like you’re a dragonfly atop a water lily, the lake below you warm and the flowers around you sweet. truly atmospheric

After smelling this sample, getting a larger size is absolutely necessary. The only thing that makes me sad is that it does not last longer on my skin, but I think purchasing a travel size and respraying would totally solve that. This is such a spring/summer masterpiece. It was named perfectly. When I think of Dragonfly, I think of flitting back and forth in the breeze along a fresh river, landing on different flowers or stones. Its wet, slightly earthy, aquatic and green.

I’m a big fan of aquatic scents. And this is a banger, I don’t really hear a lot of people talking about it but when I do hear someone mention it, it’s always praise. To me it smells like a stream during spring right when the weather is about to transition into summer. The evergreen smell with the aquatic smells. It can’t be beat. The dry down becomes floral on my skin and very soft. Longevity is insane and projection is good. 10/10 fragrance

I audibly gasped when I first smelled this fragrance. Dragonfly is known for being a fresh scent, but on my skin, it’s even more pronounced. The notes of rice, jasmine, and rose are the most noticeable when I first spray it. Gradually, it becomes more and more aquatic and green. After a few hours, I also detect a hint of earthiness, like the smell of mud after it rains, It’s really nice. Fortunately, it lasts all day on me. <3

For me this fragrance triggers a memory of chilling in the blooming meadows in the end of the spring, when you are young, carefree and have a whole summer ahead of you. It's magnificent, probably the best flower perfume I've tested. If you a male who wants to get into florals - this is must try, haven't seen anything similar and close to this. It also provides a pretty decent performance in terms of sillage.

oh my this is gorgeous. as much as it could be considered “mass appealing” or even “basic”, it made me gasp at first sniff. i feel like i’m surrounded by beautiful plants, flowers, clean bodies of water with gentle waterfalls, and clean sunny air. it is actually strong for a scent like this, and has a good throw. i absolutely would love a fb. zoologist, how i love you.

Zoologist - Dragonfly is a light, airy, floral fragrance, with good projection during the first 1-2 h and longevity (I can still faintly detect it on my skin about 9 h after application). Very floral, unisex but leans feminine, very easy to wear. Definitely seems like a Spring/Summer fragrance. Beautiful smell. Probably one of the "safest" perfumes from Zoologist.

So bright and fresh on the skin, reminds me of Cherie from L'Occitane but with slightly less floral sweetness. The white florals are very pronounce but very green forward. I'm bummed the rain soaked rocks drying in the sun scent is lost on my skin but it's there when I spray it on paper. If they ever make a candle in this scent I'm gonna get it.

evokes wooded places, far from the metropolis and human beings. An incredibly suggestive fois perfume, spicy and delicate, with a predominance of powdery and aquatic notes and strong earthy scents. It is the best work of the zoologist who perfectly aims at the habitat of his inspiration. Melancholic and poetic like a Autumn rain.

Lovely fragrance, really airy and aquatic, the scent did actually captures the pond rainforest like scent. For performance, it doesnt perform well on skin, i'd say it lasted about 4-5 hours but on clothes it projects like crazy and it last about 2 days. will definitely buy the full size. i would say its worth for the money.

I've had my fair share of smelling Zoologist samples and out of all the ones I've smelt so far, Dragonfly has been the only one where I've committed to buying a full bottle. The aquatic notes really make this stand out among other green, fresh, fragrances. Very Pleasant on my nose, I would give it a 8.5/10!

In love with the opening of this scent, but could do without the dry down. I think it might be too masculine for me (?). But the opening is quite an experience. I can't say I dislike it. Just wouldn't know where to wear it. If we could turn that opening into a candle I would be on board.

Wow, this is gorgeous. Such a photorealistic scent of a spring day after the rain. You can smell the rain on the plants and the ground. You can smell the humidity in the air. This is truly beautiful.

Emotional, solitary, a scent of flowers, earth and rain. A masterpiece!

I initially wrote an ambivalent review of Dragonfly when I initially tried it during the fall/winter season. At the time, I was unimpressed with the scent. During the warmth of summer, my tune has changed and my approach to Dragonfly has softened. I’ve been revisiting it, along with other nature-based niche scents (Andrea Maack’s Coven, Jorum Studio’s Paradisi, etc.), and Dragonfly has still managed to be the standout. To my nose, it still isn’t within the top best Zoologist scents. But it succeeds on its own merits, and I think it’s worth a second evaluation. Dragonfly is light and feminine, although it could be considered unisex. It has an everyday profile that manages to be mildly addictive. This is the bottle you’d reach for during the spring or summer months when you’re not quite sure what to wear, or when you need an easy-going and unassuming fragrance that’s formulated for all occasions. It’s the thesis of spray-and-go. Dragonfly might not be my favorite Zoologist scent, but it could very well be their most approachable. It's foremost aquatic and ozonic and floral, with hints of greenery and petrichor. Now, this is such an obscure reference, but bear with me. Did you ever watch Batman: The Animated Series while growing up in the 90s? Did you see the episode Pretty Poison? Well, Dragonfly is exactly how I'd imagined Poison Ivy's greenhouse would smell in that episode. Within that greenhouse, sunlight dapples the humid glass enclosure. Sprinklers offer a refreshing and ozonic mist from above, which gently glazes and glistens your skin in a soft, loving coolness. Dragonflies dart above a mossy pond of lotuses, while green snakes and snapping turtles surface from below to survey their surroundings. Fragrant, delicate, rare flowers dot a maze-like path that leads you further into the greenhouse’s depths. Disguised amongst that maze of flora and oversized palms, somewhere, a monster-sized and man-eating carnivorous plant must surely be lurking in wait. Or maybe I just want it to be that. Perhaps I’m overselling Dragonfly to myself because I want to love it, and I’m such a devout fan of Zoologist. I still can't help but feel like it’s missing one unknown ingredient that could elevate it to something truly astounding and unforgettable. But, regardless, it works. Given my Zoologist collection being at 11 bottles and counting, I suspect that I'll be getting caught in this bottle’s man-eating Venus flytrap very soon. In five words or less: Poison Ivy's greenhouse.

This is probably the most wearable Zoologist fragrance. It's niter challenging nor strange. It's a beautiful, aquatic and floral fragrance. I get mostly Water lily and violet leaf, it gives a watery and clean scent. The opening is very reminiscent of newly washed laundry. Beneath, there are a lot of notes working their magic to keep it from smelling just like a detergent. Grapefruit and ginger gives the fragrance a slightly sharp, spicy citrus. Cashmiran and oakmoss brings a woody foresty aspect. Jasmine and iris is also slightly detectable, bringing a clean, smooth, and slightly powdery floral note. Rose and geranium too are bringing a fresh, clean, floral accord. From opening to dry down, it's nothing but beautiful. Not an accord out of place, not a note that irritates or ruins it. It's only downside is projection and longevity. I can't really say i get much projection. I've literally covered my forearm and i can't smell it in the air while typing on my keyboard. I have to go up close to it. It won't come to me. For some, this is a positive. A fragrance to be discovered, and not announced, is a perfect work and subtle fragrance for when you only want the people closest to you to notice, or when wearing loud fragrances would be inappropriate. I'm never in that situation myself, and though i don't like beastly projecting fragrances, i do want something that is detectable within speaking distance. Where: Any situation. It's casual enough for every day and work, but elegant enough for dressing up and formal attire. When: Spring and summer. It's a fragrance perfect for sunny days and warm weather. Fully workable for night, but doesn't have a sexy or ar alluring tone at all. It's more classy and clean. Who: Leans slightly feminine due to being floral forvard. But it's so close to unisex that there is nothing wrong with Any man wearing it. I would wear it myself, without any hesitation whatsoever. Personal score: 9/10. The only thing keeping it from the magic 10/10 really, is the performance. It just needs to be more dispersive. The scent by itself is a 10/10. I would love a bottle, but i don't think i'd wear it as there are other fragrances that has similar scent profiles, but with better performance. I want a bottle, but i definitely don't Need a bottle.

Purchased a generous spray sample of this from Ministry of Scent and offered it to my partner first, presumptuously thinking that with all its florals it would be too feminine for me and more to her liking (I'm also, perhaps unfairly, dismissive of aquatics). Pleasantly surprised to find I was wrong and am enjoying it, though I'll note I never tried the original. Dragonfly is a green floral that uses aquatics to create lightness and transparency to a complex bouquet that would otherwise feel much more intense. Oh and with a zoologist twist (rice, rice baby). Overall Dragonfly is very well-blended. I'd add to the choir that "impressionistic" is accurate. In 2 ways in fact. The first and perhaps more obvious one is a reference to Monet's water lilies (very prominent note), which Celine Barel captures with the same big yet seemingly effortless strokes that Monet presented his. To my nose, it's the aquatics that help create this impressionistic quality—it simplifies and smooths over the details of a large bouquet of greens and florals, ultimately sparing you the damp, squishy, humid reality of (a dragonfly in?) Monet's actual gardens in Giverny. The result creates that surprising sense of ease for such a complex fragrance, which in truth could be polarizing, especially for zoologist fans who look to the house for it's bolder, one-of-a-kind releases. Secondly, impressionism fascinated itself with accurately capturing how light changed the conditions of a scene. Impressionists would repaint a scene multiple times to capture these shifts and rain was one such condition—artists would rush to repaint a scene after the rain, to portray richly saturated and highly reflective surfaces. With its aquatics again, Barel's "rain accord" captures the olfactory sense of this post-morning-rain environment, reminding me a lot of Jean-Claude Ellena's Angéliques Sous La Pluie. All that said, I love the rice note the most. Could be rice's ubiquitous presence in my life, but it's so damn comforting and I wish there slightly more of it in the drydown.

A hike through the lush jungles of Maui during a particularly hot and humid day, and the smell of the lush greenery, heady florals, and overdose of dew. Life is good. Upon first spray your nose is greeted by a ton of green and dew covered angelica and rindy grapefruit supported by fresh ginger and an overdose of the freshwater accord/calone. As it dries down, a wonderful watery lotus blooms and takes center stage along with with the freshwater accord; all of which supported by green angelica, vetiver, and oakmoss and a medley of powdery florals. Finally, it dries down to a mossy, earthy, and humid skin scent that’s is so calming. As many below me have already said, this is probably the easiest and most versatile zoologist to wear. Truthfully, I was a bit hesitant to try it at first as I was worried it would be a bit “basic” because the market is SOOOOO over saturated with aquatic scents, but I really surprised by this one. The violet leaves in this play a nice little magic trick on the marine notes to make them more ozonic, and gives the aroma chemicals a humid/fresh after rain feeling instead of the traditional salty/brine-y feeling in most other aquatics. While not entirely original, it is a very good, and dare I say one of the best aquatics on the market that I’ve put my nose to. A very strong like, but I can see this bumping up to a love with a couple more full wearings. Very very good performance and projection from my skin, easily 8+ hours and 4-5 bubble for the first 3 or so hours. 8.8/10. Signature scent worthy. Song vibe - On Top of the World by Stephan Day

It’s a refreshing enough scent, like being gently misted by sprinklers in a greenhouse atrium. Regrettably, it is missing a key ingredient that could separate it from the pack and transform it into something remarkable or unique. It’s spring rain and florals in a bottle – but, as Miranda Priestly once sarcastically quipped, “Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking.” Zoologist’s marketing team was really working overtime and oversold this when they described Dragonfly as encapsulating “the richness and romance of impressionism, a canvas of florals under a watery veil.” A shame, as I was hoping for something more magical, enchanting and ethereal to match such imagery. While it’s pleasing and comforting enough to keep a sample tester on hand, this scent has been done before too many times to make it worth purchasing a full bottle. Its mundanity is the biggest surprise from Dragonfly, as Zoologist is often known for creating perfumes that are (for better or worse) unlike anything else on the market. At the same time, this lack of personality also makes it one of Zoologist’s most accessible and mainstream fragrances. I can’t imagine anyone being offended by or disliking this scent, but there is no creative spark here. In five words or less: Monet’s water lilies, this ain't.

This is a beautiful perfume. At first I dismissed it as being a bland but pretty powdery Iris. That just speaks to how well blended it is though. I needed to make myself pay closer attention and focus to get the most enjoyment out of it. It’s a journey from the spicier entry of noticeable basil and grapefruit, to a middle section of an equally piquant and peppery geranium layered over smooth but delicate rose and a thick layer of buttery powdery orris root. Finally the dry down which is a comforting woody that to my nose smells almost gourmand. Even though there are water notes throughout I don’t see the comparison to Hermès Un Jardin Sur La Lagune. The water notes in that one are positively swampy and very sticky, and the white flowers in it are sensual and a bit indolic, giving it a rounded very humid feeling. Dragonfly is much cleaner, fresher, sharper and yet gentler at the same time. It’s an easy wear and probably a great entry to this brand as it must be one of the more easily worn of their fragrances along with Hummingbird. To be honest I’d be tempted to buy it for the artwork on the bottle alone. I have Bee and what a pleasure it was to open that beautiful box and look at the artwork.

For someone who already own the original, this isnt that much of a different. The rice note from the original is still here, but its being pushed up to be the main note, and the iris is now gone. There are some differences in the background, but they arent enough to make it a totally different perfume. The perfumer Celine Barel was able to come up with a really unique creation with zoologist squid, i hope she would create something of a similar calibre here, and so i was really excited to try this new dragonfly. Yet, it doesnt fulfil the expectation i have. Especially considering its weak performance. The longevity isn't the best, and the sillage is even lower. This is without doubt the weakest zoologists. But dont get me wrong, it does smell nice and probably the most mast appealing from the house. Smell wise, its quite nice, but i had such a high expectation. Furthermore, the brand advertised that the reformulation would be a different perfume comparing to the original. None of the expectations are met and im left slightly disappointed with this one.

This opens up sharp and green with an aldehydic soapiness and a pungent ginger. It reminded me a bit of aftershave or men's shower gel. It gives me a hyper-specific memory, this smells like your dad getting ready for work early in the morning. He is freshly shaven with his laundered uniform on and you're still in bed listening sleepily to him at 4:30 am. As he opens the front door, you catch a glimpse of a cloudy humid dawn. Full darkness and chirping night insects. The moon is bright and there is a light drizzle on cool concrete and garden rocks. The oakmoss is strong. It reminds me of the oakmoss in ELDO's Ghost in the Shell. It's like an enchanted forest growing geranium flowers. Animals eat from a grapefruit tree and leave the pith and peels on the rocks and sweet comforting earth below. Unchallenging fragrance that I can see being popular especially for men who like fresh green and watery cologne type scents. It has a good longevity and a skin-like sillage which I love. Overall it's not completely groundbreaking for me but It's really very nice.

I imagined this fragrance as the life cycle of a dragonfly; from murky larval waters to that moment of emergence and flight. In my mind, it would smell like the damp stillness of a pond: earthy, mossy, maybe even a little dirty. But it isn’t that. It’s aquatic, absolutely; but crystal clean and intensely floral. That purity almost drifts into detergent territory, yet it pulls back at the very last second. Petrichor and moss do exist here, but far in the background. Rather than the dragonfly itself, this feels like the scent of nymphs gleefully dancing above the water’s surface. Green, aqueous, uplifting; it captures every bright, delicate, nympheal thing imaginable. The base is warm and soft; amber-vanillic in tone, but not truly sweet, more of a gentle floral warmth. Nothing drags the scent down. In the drydown, the sweetness fades, and what lingers is a lovely rain-washed clarity. Overall, a beautiful fragrance; perhaps too beautiful for its own good. Just recently picked up some zoologist samples. This one is immediately nice. I think it’s very wearable and probably the most “mainstream” of the bunch. Is it just me or am I the only one smelling something similar to Chloe Nomad? Personally, I really like Nomad so this is a win. Dragonfly is a bit more aquatic though and feels more rainy. I picture dew drops on lush greenery. It’s early in the morning with a calm shower on the way. That makes sense considering what Dragonfly is going for but there is something about this that immediately made me say oh! I’ve smelled this before and I then realized it was Nomad. (Not saying they are identical though) Dragonfly and Nomad both have oak moss and I am finding that my nose really picks up on it in fragrances. Whatever both of these fragrances pair oak moss with just smells nice to me. I am unsure if I will size up to a travel size but overall this is a nice fragrance. It seems like a nice fragrance that could be used year round.. Longevity is good on this one as well.

This dragonfly is enjoying one of his first spring days. A light and breezy day where you can smell the humidity in the air from last night’s rain. The spring flowers have just started their bloom, and now they are almost drowning in rivers and streams from last night that are gently caressing the warm pavement. This is the smell of dewy grass an early may morning. This is the smell of hands digging around in a flower bed where soil and dirt have been shuffled around with worms and snails. This is the smell of the flowers you just bought in hopes of them lasting the whole summer through. This is the smell of the pond close to your home where the dragonflies are happily flying around. I struggle to pick out any notes from this, because the pictures it gives are too many and too strong. In my opinion, this scent is storytelling in its own liege. It is a light and fresh scent, slightly soapy with lightly powdery flowers to go with it. A great spring scent.

This is pretty nice, leans a bit masculine, but I don't usually mind that. This one opens with a nice punch, but within seconds, I no longer smell anything from the top notes, with the exception maybe of basil or a green herbal note. Within 5 minutes, I smell the base notes, and the gardenia seems to stay pretty long. There is a slightly aquatic note when first sprayed, and then the evolution becomes pretty green floral. The patchouli is not the kind of patchouli that you think of, but one of the more muted varieties used often in niche perfumes, so it is not super noticeable. Moss seems to be the most sustained note that I get through all of the phases of evolution. As I continue to smell this, I do get brief little hints popping through of tonka, orris, and florals, but this is so not linear and moves so quickly to a faint dry down. While pleasant, I can tell it is fading very fast, and will be barely a skin scent within 30 minutes.

Relies too much on a rain/wet grass accord which I don't personally find very attractive as a perfume even if it can be interesting to smell environmentally. I have a water and dirt accord fragrance oil from Vetiver and it smells almost identical to that. 15 drops in a 50ml solution of perfumers alcohol and you have something remarkably similar. Unfortunately I struggle to smell past that on my skin. The dry down beings quickly and while it becomes nicer, it really just fades in general. On paper it's mostly grass. I think the dry down is nice, but it's not memorable. 5/10 EDIT: Accidentally over did this one at the grocery store and wow, over spraying can really change the entire shape of a fragrance. This was nuclear. Really "classic" smelling, got a lot of funky stares, not sure if it was good or bad. However, I kept having to adjust my mask so I could get a wiff of it, smelled divine to me. 7/10

This is meh, its ok. I like it, everyday scent...its very aquatic, truly aquatic and is truly unisex. Like the votes say. Summer and spring scent in daytime. The feeling it invokes is scented water, think rosewater for example. Its airy and floral smelling but dries down as airy and floral smelling with amber notes that can only be noticed when you come close to skin. I like this scent, will keep it. The problem with this scent is its fleetingness. It is not nearly as long lasting as the other zoologists fragrance. Pay attention to zoologist listing, weather its extrait de parfum or eu de parfum, the latter is strong but not nearly as long lasting as the former. Beaver follows the same trend where it smells amazing but it doesn't last as long, it lasts around the same time as dragonfly.

nicely executed floral freshie. i enjoy the rice note, adds a fun unexpected starchiness & powdery feel to the water this dragonfly lands on. vetiver & ginger also should be nominated for best supporting notes here. this is floral but undercut by their green zing, making it feel truly refreshing and illusory wet. i am not moved nor excited by this but i get it! one of the prettiest zoologists scents i have tried. i find this house churns out better versions of what designer scents wanted to deliver but failed short of. they are never as exciting and novel as they promise to be beyond the top notes but do solid remixes of classic profiles. this is what i imagine a drop d’issey fraîche would smell like if oklou released a soundcloud cover of it for fun, maybe under a secret alias.

A subtle stunner that's perfect for summer. "Impressionistic," as the website calls this, is really the perfect word to describe this fragrance. Overall, it feels like a very light green-aquatic, (@jerryyanis was 100% right to call this almost transparent), but with brilliant flashes of savoury basil and rice, rich earthy moss, sparkling zesty ginger, and bright tangy grapefruit. This conjures up a tranquil summer scene interrupted by the neon reflectiveness of the darting dragonfly's wings. The dry down is beautiful too - it turns into something a bit warmer and creamier (maybe the combination of cashmere and benzoin). This is a great light summer perfume for people wanting something more artistic and evocative. Céline Barel is truly a genius!

Beautiful scent, reminiscent of a rainy day in a spring garden at the edge of the forest. This was a risky scent for me cause I historically dont enjoy florals, but this one was immensely pleasant, and didnt feel flowery despite being very floral. The oakmoss and rain notes did a wonderful job of cutting the florals and making them feel fresh and damp rather than overpowering and perfumey. On paper this also had a beautiful sharpness from the grapefruit and ginger, but top notes die immediately on my skin, so I didnt get to enjoy that aspect in the wearing. Too bad because this would have been an instant buy for me if the top notes stuck around. As is, I will be keeping the sample to wear on more pensive days, as it's a very thoughtful scent.

This opens a bit sharp and almost nauseatingly green but that passes in a few seconds and you are left with soft, aquatic floral notes. Very very aquatic and slightly sweet. Ponds filled with water flowers and lilies. If you get really close and inhale there is almost a deep soil note /accord under all of this. Slightly decaying, like good soil should be. Playing against the fluidity and wet slipperiness of the rest. Very fresh overall, clean. This doesn't last forever though. Around 1 hr, and you are left with a grassy sweet vetiver drydown. That is a bit dull, I can understand how after an opening like that people feel a bit let down. You soar high, fresh, light, clean and then you go down to almost nothing, grassiness and the faith loam.

this has a beautiful opening that realistically evokes a lush garden wet with springtime rain: aquatic, ozonic, very green, with a little snappiness to it thanks to the ginger and citrus. i wish it was able to maintain that dewy freshness for longer, because on the drydown it becomes a much more generic vetiver/patchouli scent with a hint of sweet tonka bean—nice but nothing particularly special or interesting. as is typical of a freshie, projection is somewhat minimal and longevity is middling at best. as to where this ranks among zoologist’s scents, this isn’t one of their best or most memorable, but it’s very pleasant and i don’t regret including it in my sample order.

This perfume is a very powdery floral with some ozonic qualities. It doesn't smell like a garden after rain, like I was hoping for, but it's still very pretty. I don't think it's particularly unique, nor do I think that it warrants the price. This fragrance has a TON of notes, but I don't really get any of them because of how well-blended this is. I was hoping to pick out some individual notes, but I couldn't. Does it give soft, watery floral? Yes, but there is almost a sharpness to this that I don't like. Ultimately, it's a very powdery, almost yellow floral with some ozonic nuances, but there's nothing particularly special about this.

Feels like a photorealistic pond at night, lilies and lotus flowers blooming with a damp aquatic mist, really pretty. Very strong, refreshing opening blast that I wish lasts longer than an hour and then the flowers fade away and you’re left with a wet petrichor like skin scent for like another hour or two it’s a pretty safe but likable Zoologist. Personally feel it’s too overpriced for what it is but this is a hydrating aquatic floral that is just missing something from being truly unique just falls short to other offerings from the brand imo

This is good, but not as unique as Zoologist can be. The scent takes you to a lake, one with an overgrowth of various flowers surrounding it. Waterlilies decorating the soft waves. The whisper of fairies. It's a fantasy come true... But it also takes you to a perfume store. It has that scent of walking into a store and being hit by all fragrances at once. Sure, it means that the notes are probably popular, but it does take away from it's uniqueness. I can probably find plenty of similar perfumes for a lower price tag.

As someone who tends to find watery perfumes a bit nauseating for some reason, the presence of soggy herbs and rain soaked flower petals makes for such a comforting scent. It's light and later settles into such a foggy musk that's not much like petrichor, but still something soothing enough to fall asleep to. Dragonfly isn't something I find full bottle worthy, but I like it enough to use a travel size happily just to feel like I'm fit for the occasion on every rainy day out.

Lovely aquatic fragrance, very fresh, tons of greenery, although I had a tough time discerning notes. In my opinion, the least original out of all the other Zoologist ones I have tried alongside maybe Rhinoceros. This one will probably perform much better in summer rather than Chicago winter, and I would totally reach out for this as a feel fresh fragrance, but not really something that stands out. I feel I could get the same out of other, much cheaper fragrances.

This will likely be an unpopular opinion, but I somewhat prefer the new version of Dragonfly. The lighter, white floral from the water lily mingled with the more dominant rice note makes it feel more appropriate for the Dragonfly moniker. This also exudes serenity for me in a way that the old formulation did not. Definitely something to wear while reading, contemplating life, or especially while taking a refreshing walk in the morning. 8/10
